Well, that's strictly your opinion. The fact of the matter is that Nebula is a featured character in the upcoming film and thus it only makes sense to have a minifigure of her. If there wasn't, I have no doubt there'd be far more fans complaining about her absence. And I think it's terribly unfair to ever claim that Lego "doesn't care" given their history with the fandom. It's always a question of what is feasible from a business standpoint and what is not. Personally, I'd like a massive brick-built Smaug set, CMF lines of Marvel and DC characters, and macrofigures of Abomination, Juggernaut, and Rhino, but I understand that Lego isn't concerned strictly with my happiness.

Do you base that harsh criteria of Nebula on actually having read the comics, or just on what you've been hearing about the movie? I'm curious because I honestly can't tell. Yeah, Lego doesn't care. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. That makes a ton of sense. If they didn't care about GOTG, they definitely wouldn't be going to all the logistical trouble and financial risk of making sets based on the film. You do realise that if the film flops (and there is a reasonably good chance that it will given that GOTG isn't exactly the best-known Marvel franchise), Lego stands to lose a ton of money, don't you? Frankly, I think the fact that they didn't put Rocket Raccoon and Groot in the largest, most expensive set is pretty generous of Lego. As for RR being the most popular, beloved GOTG character, well, that's strictly your personal opinion.

Groot is capable of increasing his size by absorbing wood, so the figure's stature is more than fine by me. I'll definitely be getting the set for him, RR, and Nebula. About time Marvel gave us a villainess minifigure! The new Wolverine and Storm minifigures are tempting, but Magneto and the Sentinel are a disappointment. Also, I really hate Cyclops as a character, so I have no desire to own any representation of him.

WHY WAS HULK NOT IN LEGO MOVIE?! HULK BETTER HERO THAN PUNY BATMAN! HULK SMASH WILL FERRELL!
-
Ugh. There really aren't any redeeming qualities about the Spider-Trike. Perhaps some of those parts will come in handy someday. As it stands, I'll get the set strictly for Electro.

Lego is by no means the first toy company to give Spidey vehicles. Type "spider-man vehicles" into Google and you'll see that over the years he's had motorcycles, cars, helicopters, planes, and even boats. Why do these seemingly unnecessary vehicles exist? Because fans are willing to purchase them, that's why. Cynical, but true.

Separating the threads into DC and Marvel is an excellent idea. I like ranting about my burning desire for an Abomination macrofigure to go up against the Hulk and I like ranting about the overwhelming presence of Batman, but generally not at the same time. A forum devoted entirely to Super Heroes sounds fine by me too.

I'm also in favour of separate Marvel and DC threads.

Love it!! And I must say it once again: the new Batwing is downright ugly. No two ways about it.

Ugh, no. A sense of humour is one of the main reasons why Marvel will always be way out in front and DC will be always be struggling to catch up. Marvel comics and movies know when to play it serious and when to have a bit of fun. DC, however, is stuck in the lame mentality that all their comics and movies have to be ultra-serious and dark and brooding and no one should ever, ever be happy. Dan DiDio has stated this in no uncertain terms. Getting back to sets, who else is super excited about the New York Toy Fair this coming weekend? Perhaps Lego will at least allow pics of the X-Men set if not the GOTG.

The upcoming Green Goblin doesn't work as the Abomination at all as far as I'm concerned. For that matter, he doesn't work as the Green Goblin either.

Wow, this thread became quite heated. I think Lego is wise to keep its Marvel line within reason. It does not follow that what appeals to AFOLs and AFOMs appeals to children as well. A lot of the Marvel sets listed awhile frankly wouldn't much appeal to me for that matter, and I visit my local comic book store every week without fail. I'm fine with more Spider-Man and Avenger themed sets as long as we continue to get new characters tossed into the mix. I'm sure we'll see some really exciting stuff in 2015 due to the Avengers sequel. Almost certainly the first Ultron, Scarlet Witch, and Quicksilver minifigures. And as always, I continue to hope for a macrofigure of Abomination, Juggernaut, or Rhino in order to finally have a proper opponent for the Hulk.

Thanks! The Melting Room works perfectly with Dr. Doom. I'm going to use it as part of the castle I'm planning to build for him.

I loved it. Most fun I've had at the movies in ages. But the best part was hearing all the excited kids in the audience. :) Everything is awesome indeed!!!

If you spend $75 or more at the online Lego Shop, you get a free Martian Manhunter.

My hands down favourite is Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout. In addition to my all-time favourite figure (you know who that is!), it contains Thor, Loki, Hawkeye, and a pretty decent jet. My favourite DC set would have to be Batwing Battle Over Gotham City. I actually prefer the smaller Batwing to the big one from 2006.

Yes, I've been less than impressed by how some people who've attended Toy Fair casually dismiss or skim over any and all lines they're not personally interested in.

I'm sure the Movie minifigs will sell very well. However, I have reservations about the Simpsons. A lot of parents won't be wanting their children to be playing with characters from a show they're not allowed to watch . I'd leap into the air and punch the sky if Lego announced a Super Heroes CMF line. :) Would there really be legal obstacles to the latter though?

Wolverine and Spider-Man are both members of the Avengers in the comics. Honestly? I much prefer Marvel over DC, in large part because the latter has focused waaaaaaaaaay too much on Batman. That's not Lego's fault; it's more DC's fault for emphasizing him over all their other characters. I want to see more Avengers characters and lots more villains. Big ones. But you probably already knew that by now. And I wouldn't count on seeing any GotG pics for a long time. Marvel undoubtedly wants to keep plot details under wraps for now.

Thank you, everyone. I can honestly say that the climb was the most physically demanding thing I've ever done in my entire life. And yes, I know a minifigure's been in space, but I think Hulk may hold the record for the highest landbound Lego.
