Heroica RPG - Quest #4: Taming the Lions
Tanma replied to Brickdoctor's topic in The Heroica Archive
De'kra nods and clicks, "Lion Knights expand territory? Next where they first territory?" As he waits De'kra turns to their Shadaeux contact and asks, "Where Uland, it not on map." OOC: he is asking that if the Lion Knights are expanding, where do they originate from. -
I take the balanced road. I do enjoy getting multiple sets of characters, seeing their personal evolution. I freaked out when I learned wise Vakama used to be a doubting Toa, and it helped give more depth to his character. Now we see that he earned that wisdom, and we learn a great deal more about the Matoran. And as a Jaller-holic from 2001, imagine my joy at his return in 2003 and much farther along in 2006 and 2007. It allows characters to stay longer in the spotlight, which in turn let's us learn more about the character. But at the same time, I think getting the same character twice a year for two years is a bad idea. It gets repetitive, and kind of dull. Worse, it stops new blood from entering the limelight. Hero factory thus far has avoided that by adding Evo, Nex, and Rocka; but keep in mind that in Winter we would have had every hero at least twice. And in truth the stats for the heroes change each time-Surge didn't have electric weapons as a 2.0, and Breez didn't have wind powers. Personally I will never understand why Breez wasn't a 3.0, since she could speak to creatures and it took place on a jungle planet. On a similar note, is anyone else annoyed by the lack of civilian sets? All we get are criminals and heroes, what about the citizens? How can a kid have the hero rescue a hostage, if there are no hostages? I know kids can make their own civilians, but all the civilians in the show have very different bodies than heroes- how could they make a citizen that is show accurate?

De'kra clicks, "Heroes and I learn more first, need know others saw the elves and Lion Knights. Other looks help show bigger picture. You thoughts?" -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

I actually like Ewoks, for a number of reasons. One, originally Wookiees were going to be used for Endor, but they realized that Chewbacca's tech level meant his race shouldn't be tribal and unaware of the galaxy scene. That is where Ewoks comes from, switch the syllables and you get Wookiee. Would anyone prefer Chewbacca's race doing all those scenes as was first planned? Two, the Ewoks are cute, but they are played kind of realistically. How would tribal humans react to a solid gold alien who knows your tongue? Odds are there would be worship going on, especially since the Ewoks' pantheon included a Golden One. If not for C3P0, the heroes would have been killed. The Ewoks are not a kind race, they are at the bottom of the food chain and they can't really afford to be kind to strangers. Wicket is an outlier, but there are oddballs in every race, like Wookiees with force abilities. And with all the massive beasts on Endor, it plausible that the Ewoks would already have traps able to harm imperial walkers. Remember that the Ewoks were used to dodging predators on their world, which helped them in ambushing and raiding the imperials. Of course, this view relies on ignoring that Ewok show(don't look it up). -

OOC: the horror! It's eyes are as wide as it's hands! How many potions has this guy had in the last ten minutes? De'kra looked at strange pink figures with interest. If this character was the norm, the Mopag appeared to be a distant cousin to the humans and the elves. Much like elves and humans the Mopag had one head, two arms, two legs, one mouth, two eyes(at least that De'kra could see), and hair solely on their head's top. And just like el es had visible ears, the Mopags had pale skin and larger eyes. There was something about subspecies with different eyes that struck the shade, but he didn't mention this. -

De'kra clicked, "Might good to see reaction of Mopags to Leo. He knight and use lion as symbol, Mopag might think he Lion Knight. Mopags immature, they might believe it. Mopags might say things they not say to heroica. You thoughts?" -

OOC: for clarification, De'kra used up his potion in the fight. Likewise I am pretty sure his health is only 11; as he started out with seven health, and has since gained four ranks. Not that I am complaining. De'kra nodded at the barbarian, as he had similar plans. Should he ever acquire a gem, the shade would fuse it to one of his many blades. That way if he faces an undead foe he can do greater damage. The other blade(s) would be kept plain, so that he could use them in case the foe was immune to his gem's might. Hopefully it would be an Topaz, as that gem has three types weak to it, but only one foe that is immune. In this way it is the strongest gem in the world. -

De'kra stares in amazement as the barbarian falls beneath his blade. The giant tumbles to the group, as its blood splashes to the ground. As the enemies eyes grow silent, De,kra nods in satisfaction. Turning away from the corpse, De'kra clicks, "I only one who use daggers, I take it? I have five attack weapon now, but might quest fail I loose it. Also, I not think homes good plan, Mopag might not want strangers in their huts." -

OOC: Well rangers have ranged weapons, which I assume work just as fine farther away. De'kra readied to aid in the assault on the knight, and wondered what the Mopag would be like. Would they be scared of outsiders, or would they distrust them? Or would waiting in a vulnerable position gain their respect? -
I would assume that they were stingers, based on their joints, green(venom) tubes, and possibility, but they are too stubby. Maybe he has them so that ifhe is dueling with a foe and they are fighting in close combat, he can stab them while they fight his main limbs? On another note, while does he have that ridiculous helmet? Those horns have to make it hard to move his head around.

Nice scenes, they really fit the Ewoks. It's nice tosee all 5 current versions of the Ewoks, they have a lot more detail than the first versions.

Oh good, I wasn't sure if they were trying to make Plantom look like he was battle damaged with those rough parts. I remember back in my day I would pound extra Kanohi to give them a damaged battle worn look, so I wasn't sure if that was their goal here.

As De'kra goes to attack the knight on the front row, he briefly ponders why the enemies give them time to plan and replan. He wasn't complaining, it was very kind of them not to attack the heroes while they planned. It just was odd based on their diet. -

De'kra feels rejuvenated, though he is a little surprise that the potion didn't spontaneously combust or something with his luck in battle. "I attack knight," asked the shade, "I help stop knight make sentinel move." -
Ah the ancient Landshark. Some say he could land a ship just a well as a shark can run. I wasn't too original with names, so I used one from Bionicle. Tanma was a Matoran of Light in the year 2008, who actually lead his fellow Av-Matoran in resistance against the Makuta. Sure light hurts Makuta, but we are talking about creatures who can possess machines and have 42 different powers, aside from manipulation. Sadly his name might be derived from tan, as in sun tan(curse you puns). But still, a villager who is battling a great evil without relying on Toa or needing powerful weapons to fight. We haven't seen that since 2001(2002 the Matoran used Boxers, 2003 they didn't fight at all, 2004 six Matoran did help the Toa using a Matoran-Nui, 2005 there were no Matoran, 2006 they relied on their special weapons, and 2007 the Matoran had electro weapons and air launchers). Why have two characters say, "You don't have to be a Toa to be a hero," and then have the only heroes be Toa or Matoran who become Toa?

OOC: Yes, secretly De'kra is an Ortolan. He just cut off his trunk and ears before he was trapped on Heroica. OOC: an alternate theory is that De'kra is secretly Red Shirt from Legostar Galactica. Look it up, you might see parallels with luck in fights. De'kra hoped that after the battle was won he would get a chance to buy another potion. That assumed that the group would win the day, but at the moment only De'kra had been damaged. On the other hand the attackers were all damaged, though their health was much bigger. -

De'kra nodded, and jabbed his hand into the potion. After a few seconds he removed his hand from the bottle; now empty of any liquid. Does anyone find it odd that his hands act as his mouths? -

De'kra nodded and headed to face the knight in the front row. The foe was much stronger than this shade, but De'kra was more agile. Hopefully the group would survive this fight, and if they do win even if the quest fails, 6 out of 8 of them will still get upgraded weapons. -

De'kra unleashed a mechanical growl in frustration, as yet again he fails horrible. The shade shrugs it off, and clicks to the team leader, "You lead heroes and I to victory in all prior fights, who I best fight? I not trust I judgement right now." -
We have that already, just check the Lego Wargames and Mafia Games. But seriously that is an interesting idea, though I would want them to still have Microfig versions too.
-
I am interested in the game, but I am not sure if I will buy it yet. Can you(anyone) inform me of it's pluses and minuses? Is it too addicting? Is it still fun after months of play?

But what about their joints and skeletons, those connect worse than Bionicle limbs and bodies. The legs and arms don't even have rod holes, they can only be attached to sphere pieces. I know they have those sphere bricks like in that Power Miners mech, but the fusion of Bionicle joint and brick looks really unnatural to me, thus bring back bad asthetics. Remember, Bionicle has been acceptable of system pieces before, Keetongu's eye, the eyes and squid holders of the Barraki, and Hakann's gun all used pins in their designs, as can be seen on Carapar's armor. Bionicle also was pin friendly, but their pieces that connected to pins were used far less than Hero Factory. In truth the factory doesn't have a ton of pin connecting pieces, they just reuse them in many sets.

Wow, this is massive. The Atlantis theme always lacked a surface base, a large issue considering that they won't have an infinite air source. The details are impressive, and a lot of details seemed to have been put into it. The only issue I have is that the white and blue pieces fly in the face the Atlantis color scheme, but you got to use the pieces you have.
-
Is that an intentional reference to Wookiees? Either way I am not surprised thar will will have many battles, we already have had four and we are no where close to solving the puzzle. We know theHinckwell are involved, but we don't have proof and we haven't even encountered the lion knights.
-
I can see the streamline, but as far as I have observed only the armor pierces and the head have spaces for double pins. Their limbs son't even have the rod holes of yesteryear, making them impossible to attach to bricks. And their hands have the same issues of Glatorian hands.
