Heroica RPG - Quest #20: Missing Minerals!
Tanma replied to UsernameMDM's topic in The Heroica Archive
IC: De’kra read the message again and again, worry somehow escaping his emotionless “face.” Finally he replied. Upon finishing the message, De'kra clicked, "Heroes in Quest 17 claim to exist in big trouble. Any member of group have experience and sieges/warfare?" -
By the Chronicler's Company, please let another member of Quest 20 post. I have a plan, by which I mean a few ideas for Quest 17.

IC: Since not much was occurring, De'kra decided to send a message to Arthur. -

IC: De'kra nodded in agreement, for once. This creature might just be a false lead, and the real source of the problem might lurk still deeper inside the tunnels. -

IC: De'kra stared at the crystal shards, a little glad that he hadn't landed a blow on the creature. It wasn't too much of a surprisedthathe failed to damage the beast, his mind wasn't in the fight. There was something about the creature that haunted him, the fact that it was alive and inorganic particularly worked it's way on the shade. It just didn't feel right to harm one, especially based on what De'kra had begun to recall. Still, it was a hard and painful death that the creature suffered, and that did not sit easy in his mind. Noticing the knight, De'kra shrugged, "You take it if you want." Right now the shade was too busy worried about fighting more of those creatures to care about the spoils. -
How much experience did I get from that battle?

I suggest the heroes of Quest 14 lie through their teeth. They never saw Bluto, they didn't even know the Ziegfried had a youth of that name. Its best not to even mention him, and pay off the crew to keep the lie. Of course the Ziegfried might have ways of detecting the truth, so that might not work.

IC: De'kra nodded and replied, "However, creature not slaughter villages nor absorb other life, it eat rocks. No one die from eat rocks, loss money maybe, but not die. "Crimes" not equal. On you last point, I enact what employer want in Quest 4. There now war exist fought over Northern Uland because I enact what employer want. I know situation here likely not same, but I still learn not to blindly enact what employers want." -

IC: De'kra countered, "Depend on monkey. Might monkey prefer to solve all problems and violence, it not worthy of conversation. Might monkey try other tactics on occasion, it might have good insight. Just because something look different not mean it less than you or not intelligent. You Neron and Neredice potrayed as have fish tails instead of feet, they less than you other Great Spirits? I find you attitude similar to some Brobric Elves I met, though I not sure if Keveak still think that way as dead. On matter of moral issues, perhaps I stay because if I leave, chances exist that unrestrained murders might follow." -

IC: De'kra stared at Guts and remarked, "What sentience have to enact and humanoid? Of what I learn, humanoid equal look human-like. Creature look more like human than Naga, simple as that. Creature look more like human than I too, it have mouth and it not made of uniformity. What exist problem? And sentience not only in human-like species, for instance I read record of frog-people in library once. And might it exist as not sentient, why require to kill it? Group could use intellect to outwit or escape creature. Bats were hard to avoid because of big numbers and agility, wolves too smart and organized to flee from. But if you theory on it intelligence sound, it might exist avoidable." OOC: De'kra is channeling his inner Ga-Matoran at the moment. -

IC: De'kra shook his head and commented, "It not cost group anything to try to talk out problems. If communication fail I will attack from front row with Prongcanis Dagge, but I prefer not to attack before negotiating. It might exist hostile, but it might exist defensive. Group invade it home and group reek of death, if creature not defensive I would surprise. And If it defensive now, it will exist truly hostile once group attack it. Not to mention it clear employers not tell group everything, liikely more to story of missing minerals than employer say. Also, how it not humanoid? It stand on two legs, has two arms, has one mouth and two eyes, no tail, and use arms to grab. It closer to human than Naga, and communication and Naga not hard." -

IC: De'kra shakes his head and clicks, "Doubtful, it not move quick. It not likely one such creature fast enough to eat all minerals in cave, likely there other creatures too. Knight-hero, might you try to use diplomacy on creature? If it just hungry, it not necessarily evil. Sad group no have Ranger in case creature not glitched." The shade still felt renewed from the news of parallel realities, though the pain wasn't gone, just balanced out. -
Agreed, there are plenty of other magical creatures to have as sidekicks other than Phoenix. And if you are bored of typical creatures and more obscure ones, you can make new ones up. For instance you could have a sterile Celestial Bears as a helper; a tiny shelled creature. Celestial Bears, or Soligrades, could be a race of eight legged creatures with immunity to all damage, who spend much of their lives eating nutrients. After they get enough food them lay nine hundred eggs, which use the collected nutrients as rocket fuel. This scatters the eggs all over the planet and possibly beyond, allowing them to spread. The adults die upon laying their eggs, and some eggs die while still in their egg state. A sterile Soligrade won't lay eggs and thus won't die, however it might be stressed about its inability to breed. This could lead to interesting discussions among heroes with hopes of parenthood/children, allowing for unique interactions. Plus Tardigrades are awesome.

Great design, it is both simple and easy to identify. I would suggest not having her age too much too quick, if she grows too fast then pretty soon she will burst into flames and be a hatchling again. Of course I don't know how old Eubric Phoenixs live to be before they rebirth, but it is something to consider.

Don't lie to us, there are only 18 Alchemists, plus that Alkahestry user. Although I suppose you could count Pride, but I won't. At least, those are all the important users, no one cares about the others. An example of these nameless unimportant people is that Xerxes Alchemist who started the plot by creating Dwarf in the Flask. Really even the bonus chapter guy got a name, but not the guy who made Father. And even if he was an alchemist, how could he use a Philosopher's Stone? Those things are made from live humans! (Though judging by scenes from the Promised Day, humans are not the only species to possess souls) ...Sorry, wrong story. More on topic, (kind of) I can't help but notice the unfortunate sterotypes in quest 23. Not all primates like bananas you know, I for one am a hominid who dislikes the fruit.

IC: De'kra nodded vaguely, and dipped his Prongcanis Dagger in venom. -
As far as I know it is fine, we haven't closed this to the public or anything. Ignore I mostly meant that upon hearing the inital designs for the quest I didn't suspect him. I did get suspicious halfway through gameplay though.

Right, everyone sees things differently. For instance, I think all Rogues should have brown hair with a white stripe. On a more serious note, I have to say I enjoyed the pay off of Quest 15. I hadn't expected Reno to be the pirate king, or for the "brutal" questers to sympahnize with his goals and let him escape punishment. They had different reasons, but it was an interesting shioft from their rough handling of that scientist.

IC: De'kra shrugged at Guts's remark and clicked, "I suggest group give gem to mage, he only group person who use gems." -
Try using ou or xe, appearantly they are gender neutral nouns in English. I don't know how to alter ou, in part because it is from Middle English, but xe is done like he and she. Keep in mind I only looked this up just now, so I might have looked only at fringe sources instead of mainstream uses of Xe. Here are examples of uses. Xe summoned a tornado of flames, engulfing the foe. Xyr flames burned through the succubus, ripping her apart. Those flames are xyrs. Such destruction is unlike xem. This is the work of the pacifist Xemself.

William Shatner? I am not an expert on Boomingham at all, so this might be totally wrong. But Kirk was pretty arrogant about other cultures, has a strong thing with women but doesn't fail like Leo, and he was thrown out of time and encountered a later generation of heroes.

Except the druid in Quest 14 of course.

IC: De'kra nodded, and held the pickax in position. Hopefully his connection with these tunnels was more than just nostalgia, and likewise hopefully this was not a trap. The memories these tunnels were welling up were strong, it was getting a little hard to tell just what was past and what was present. The crystalline structure appear to not be a part of a trap, but was De'kra seeing a memory of a safe mine, while in the present this gem was rigged for destruction? It was hard to know. But either way, De'kra swung his pickax at the crystal, hopefully already weakened by the earlier assaults. OOC: I wasn't sure if I had to post this, since a bit of our members wanted it done, but I best do the safe thing. -
I am not the best with actors, so it took me a bit to think of it. For hours all I could think of was David Tennant, which is just weird. I had just been watching Doctor Who though, so I have an excuse. But still, there is no way someone can picture De'kra with the 10th Doctor's voice Luckily I had been watching all 64 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood the past week. (Sure I have two major papers coming up, but this is FMA Brotherhood we are talking about) So after watching Episode 62 (in the words of Mustang, it was raining) I found a canidate in the sub. (I refuse to listen to the dub, even if I can't understand Japanese. At least the characters sounds better) So after carefully reviewing a few episodes, and a few more patches of rain, I decided on Rie Kugimiya to be De'kra's voice actor. For some reason Alphonse's voice just works, at least in my head. Now to bother my younger sister until she makes fan art of May and Alphonse for me.

Me, I side with the Metasimians. I welcome our future ape overlords and their Lawgiver with open arms.
