  1. I wouldn’t say directionless. There’s clearly an overarching narrative, Gunn has said as much. But they’re playing it close to the chest and not saying much. And it’s not a bad thing. That was where Marvel was back before the MCU really took off. And the reason the DCEU and MCU both fell off wasn’t entirely the lack of a clear direction. The poor quality of the content they were producing is what did them in. The emphasis right now seems to be on producing high quality DC films, which is a good thing and should hopefully help restore the brand. But that might take a well to translate to box office success, and knowing WB there’s a good chance they’ll kill it if they don’t see immediate results. As far as Pattinson’s Batman in the DCU, I just don’t think it’d work. His Batman is very grounded and this universe is very fantastical. The universes are just far too different. I couldn’t see this Batman fighting Phosphorus or training a Robin.
  2. Yeah, the reuse of the Doc Ock from the NWH set has killed any interest I had for this set. That minifigure does not work for the character from NWH, and it especially doesn’t work for the version from Spider-Man 2.
  3. Not a single minifigure scale Batmobile?! Lego would never miss the opportunity to make at least two of those!! Minifigure Scaled Adam West Batmobile (only includes Adam West Batman with plain legs and costs $120) Minifigure Scaled TNBA Batmobile (includes Batman and two of the only villains who never even met in the series $150)
  4. I agree the torso was probably fake, it certainly didn’t seem to be of the highest quality. But, unless I’m remembering this wrong, we also had that movie Flash torso leak close to a year (2022) before the set was supposed to release. Now, you could argue that The Flash set was originally supposed to release that year (2022) before the movie got delayed. But there was no way that set was in mass production when that piece leaked, especially since it seems the set was canned before that ever happened. But, even if that Sunspot torso is legitimate, I think we should keep in mind that the Lego designers for the X-Mansion confirmed minifigure designs for a lot of X-Men characters were made for the Mansion and they don’t know which, if any, will appear in future sets. So the torso could just be an unused design for that set which will never actually wind up in a set.
  5. We’re DC fans. Getting excited that the reboot is gonna fix everything only for nothing to actually change is our whole identity.
  6. We didn’t get direct tie-ins for JLA, but we did get a comic based JL wave that coincided with the release. Similar to how Avengers Assemble didn’t get any direct tie-ins, but did get two waves of Avengers comic based sets. To date, the only cartoon series to get direct tie-ins were BtAS (30 years after the fact), X-Men ‘97, What If, Spidey and Friends, and Ultimate Spider-Man. And Teen Titans Go got those Dimensions tie-ins, but I don’t count those as sets. Regardless, cartoons aimed at a younger demographic are a good sign that DC is no longer just catering to adults (or no one, as sometimes seems to be the case) and could potentially translate to more sets going forward. Not to mention diversifying from nothing but Batman is a good sign for people who want something besides Batman.
  7. Even worse. Lenny won’t even let Lex into his main friend group.
  8. Because his one and only friend is a bank robber?
  9. Hopefully they will actually debut them at a reasonable time for kids instead of midnight on Adult Swim. Captain Cold looks so proud of his little ice patch. 😆
  10. There’s a puzzle in the book where Superman’s villains want to join forces and it’s only three of them. Over and over again. 😭 I’ve forgiven the lack of movie sets. That alone is enough movie accurate Lego Superman content for me. Also, there was a DCU press event of some sort. Looks like we’re getting a Jessica Cruz GL animated series, a Starfire animated series, a Teen Titans movie (accidentally) confirmed, and some hints that there was some legitimacy to that Bane/Deathstroke film but it’s not called that. Lots of excited potential for sets we won’t be getting.
  11. I doubt it. Aside from the issue of us not getting much in the way of comic based sets, even from Marvel, and especially not anything based on recent comics, I’m willing to bet there’s a heck of a lot to work out in terms of merchandise deals to put Batman and Spider-Man together in a Lego set to the point it just wouldn’t be worth it for any party involved.
  12. This is the problem of induction. You see a million wishes turn bad on the monkey’s paw and just assume the next one is guaranteed to turn bad too. But just because the first eleven eggs in a carton are good it doesn’t mean the next will be good too.
  13. Play a slot machine enough, it’s sure to pay out. Same goes for wishes on the monkey’s paw.
  14. I don’t see why comic Batman would need to slot for the torso, seeing as we currently have two different comic Batman torsos in production. Going off your list, just as an example, only Robin, Ivy, Two Face, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow and Riddler would need new torsos. Maybe Harleen is we’re being generous. So let’s say 7. Most of them don’t need new leg prints. Only Two Face, Ivy, and Scarecrow (again, if we’re generous). So that’s less than what the X-Men Mansion got, which means there’s more room for new torsos. So even with your list, which is probably too optimistic, as long as we get something similar to the X-Mansion in terms of new prints, I don’t think there’s a need for jumpsuits for all the men. I’m hoping this time will be different simply because this looks to be the big superhero set of the year. There’s no Marvel modular on the horizon. We’re getting 10-15 characters, as opposed to the 7(?) we got in the giant black box of disappointment. Also, I’m not expecting much, just that they treat this set as well as what some would argue is their most underwhelming Marvel modular as far as number of minifigures is concerned. Heck, I’m expecting around the same number of new prints in a set with 15 minifigures as we got in a set with 10 minifigures. How much more underwhelming can Lego make this?
  15. I think we can probably expect roughly the same amount of prints as we got in the X-Mansion which should translate to roughly 5 or 6 new figures. I did a breakdown on the case if it’s Schumacher based. Let’s consider two other cases: BtAS based and comic based. In both of these instances, we have a Batman, a Joker, and a Mr Freeze that can thrown into this set. Harley Quinn, IMO, could work for both. BtAS has Catwoman while comics have Batgirl. But let’s assume those two may not make the cut for reasons. Let’s also use the numbers from the X-Men mansion of 5 new torsos, 5 new legs, and 5 new heads. In either case, we’d be looking at 4-5 characters currently available for recycle and 5-6 new ones (leg printing is typically more expensive, so if Lego skimps out on it as they arguable could for most comic and BtAS figures, they can increase the number of figures). So that comes to 10 figures, possibly more. Let’s assume your prediction of 5 purist holds true so that the rest of the up to 15 figures are accounted for. So just based on that, I don’t think the jumpsuits are necessary. I could see them being used for Joker and Mr Freeze, just to encourage people to buy the other sets with them if they want the characters in their costumes, but I also think that giving the other villains their actual costumes would increase the appeal of this set. Let’s be fair to Lego here. They realize minifigures are one of the major selling points of these sets. Poison Ivy and Two Face, just for an example, are going to be enticing to buyers if they’re wearing costumes rather than jumpsuits. I could be wrong and quite probably am, but I think we should expect 5-6 new figures just based on the size of this set and the number of figures reportedly in it. I don’t know what specific Bat-media it will be based on, but looking at potential cases for our three likely scenarios, I think there’s a good case to be made that the villains won’t be all in jumpsuits just from the standpoint of 1) what the budget should allow given other recent sets like this and 2) Lego realizing figures are a massive selling point and villains in jumpsuits will appeal to less people than villains in full on costumes.
  16. The Magento helmet had been out of circulation since 2017, but they resurrected it last year. I don’t think resurrecting the top helmet piece for Ultron is out of the question.
  17. Let’s assume this is the list, just the sake of argument, with the other 0-5 slots filled with guards made using existing pieces. Chase can be made with existing pieces. Arguably so could Gordon. That leaves 8 new figures with exclusive parts. Now, let’s assume they really go all out. The new prints we’ll need by character is then: Batman: torso Robin: torso and head (and new legs if it’s Robin instead of the Nightwing suit). Batgirl: torso and head Riddler: torso, head, and legs Two Face: torso, head, and legs Mr Freeze: torso, head, and legs Poison Ivy: torso, head, and legs Bane: torso and head That comes to 8 new torso, 7 new heads, and 4-5 new legs. Now, we also know the Batmobile is likely Schumacher based, so let’s assume two figure are included there, as I believe is rumored. Let’s assumes it’s Batman and Riddler. Now, the total for Arkham comes to 6 new torsos, 5 new heads, and 3-4 new legs. For comparison, the X-Men Mansion included 5 new torsos, 5 new heads, and 4 new legs. For $70 more, I don’t think an extra new torso print is an insane ask. And that’s assuming they don’t cut corners by giving Mr Freeze, Robin, or Poison Ivy unprinted legs.
  18. Lego still manages to disappoint you by making a $400 Joker: Folie a Deux diorama.
  19. I hope there’s a spare room in the Arkham set just for you. 😝
  20. What about a Doombuster (HulkBuster, but green and silver for Dr Doom).
  21. We will be getting 1 set for Doomsday. It’ll include Mr Fantastic and Dr Doom riding his Doom Buggy with a giant flamethrower mounted on top. Retail price will be anywhere from $60 - $100.
  22. Now I know how people in Antarctica feel trying to read. 😝
  23. I wasn’t going to include them, but we got unofficial tie-in sets for Suicide Squad (where the name was obviously an issue) back in 2016 that included the main characters in comic sets. Lego could have done something similar to that, ie, a Sabertooth vs Wolverine set for Deadpool and Wolverine (I wouldn’t expect them to touch Deadpool) and a set with Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Kingpin this year for Born Again. But they didn’t even do that much.
  24. The irony being that they keep making sets for the projects that flop (Cap 4, Thor 4, and Antman 3) but do nothing for ones that do well like Deadpool 3 or seem to actually have a lot of interest like Daredevil and Thunderbolts.
  25. Could be the torso for any one of the four. You can’t make out whether it’s a male or female torso and Ben wears a full body costume in the trailer. I think Johnny is probably the least likely since I’d assume they’d use the full “flame on” version of him.
