From Almaak to Zotax: all the planets in the LEGO galaxies...
Oky replied to TalonCard's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yeah, I always knew it was set in the future, but 3777 does seem a little far off, especially since they visit the Lego Spaceport and water sports center in their own time in the next episode. I can see jetskis still existing in the 37th century, but space shuttles? Aren't they a little outdated by that point? Granted, this was made in the 90s where they had no idea that space shuttles would be decommissioned so soon, but still. Anyway, here's my summary of the second episode: So not a lot of info regarding the Lego timeline this time around, but it's pretty neat that the climax takes place on Spyrius, and we now know that Lego Space takes place many years after Time Cruisers and that there are still operating space shuttles and jetskis in 3777. There were also some interesting comments about the Spyrius technology. For example, the weapons on the Saucer Centurion are shrink rays and the box on the Recon Robot is apparently a paralysis chamber, a prison that paralyzes any living being that is put in it, but doesn't work on robots. -
From Almaak to Zotax: all the planets in the LEGO galaxies...

TalonCard found a YouTube channel that has all or most of the German audio dramas from the 90's that we talked about earlier in this thread and asked me to translate them, so here's my summary of the first Time Cruisers episode which has some useful information: So yeah, lots of interesting info regarding the Lego timeline in the first episode already. Unfortunately not many details on Aquazone, but if I had to guess, it's the Earth's ocean in the distant future. I'll post summaries of the other two episodes once I've listened to them. -
What did you like? Well, it was Sci-Fi Month. What's not to like about sci-fi? The forum graphics were great, the contests were fun, challenging and creative, and of course the participation from everyone was outstanding! All around a great job from everyone! This also gave me an opportunity to build a Futurama MOC, and it's the largest microscale scene I've built so far! What didn't you like? There was hardly anything not to like. I was a little disappointed that there was no Build A Spaceship contest, but oh well. What could I have done better? You coulda shipped out the prizes sooner. If you didn't enter, what could I have done to make you more interested? Well, the only contest I didn't enter was the FAPC, and that's just because of the overwhelming amount of awesome entries, so there's not much you could have done about that. What do you like better? Trophies or Prizes? or both? Usually I prefer prizes (and the prizes that were offered were very fitting and generous), but these trophies were so creative and cool that I have to say both! What other comments do you have for Sci-Fi month? I hope there will be another one soon! Otherwise I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Here's a new MU poster: Lots of interesting characters here, but the one that intrigues me the most is that nerdy Randal in the corner there. He was kind of a two dimensional character in the first movie, and it would make for a pretty good backstory for him to be the nerd who always gets bullied by jocks like Sully which leads to him hating Sully so much and becoming a bully himself later on. Nice work, Pixar! I'm getting more excited about this movie the more I see of it!- 279 replies

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

Exactly. On the other hand, Tarkin might insist that this is a Republic matter and that it is up to him what is to become of her, and he might not be as merciful as the Jedi. But I'm pretty sure they were just exaggerating in the promo when they said "Ahsoka's life is hanging in the balance." -
Oh, I see. I thought the first picture was from the sequel too. In that case I will have to reserve judgement until we see more of the new suit, but yeah, I guess the mask is the most accurate to the comics so far.
-
I disagree. This suit still has those weird lines going over his arms and legs and still looks too organic. For me, the best and most accurate version will always be the Raimi one. But at least this one is much better than the horrid last version. So the main villain will be Electro, huh? That makes sense I suppose, although it wouldn't have been my first choice.
-
How about the Temple of Fire or the Temple of Light (either the interior or exterior)? Or maybe the NinjaBall Run? I know it's not the most important part of the series, but it would be a great opportunity to make microscale versions of all the vehicles.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

But how would they have gotten out of their cells? They were still locked in the last time we saw them, and I think they would have mentioned it in the episode if they escaped. But yeah, I guess you're right that Palpatine can probably release them somehow anytime he wants to. True, but so far those killed characters were either bad guys or fairly unimportant side characters, and even their deaths were played down a bit. Barris on the other hand is a character we have come to like and view as a close friend of the main characters. I think it would be a little too dark to suddenly show her getting executed by her friends, even if she did commit a crime. Plus it just doesn't seem very Jedi-like to have a death sentence. And I disagree, having one of the other characters be suspicious of Bariss would completely ruin the mystery. The fact that these episodes keep us guessing until the end is what makes them so good in my opinion. -

Yeah, I guess so. The phrase "get [it] on with" just threw me off. And yeah, I'm glad Yoda has stopped parodying himself. Letta already told us her motif. She said that the Jedi responsible doesn't like the fact that the Jedi have become soldiers instead of peace keepers, and I think that makes a lot of sense. I can definitely see someone as sweet and caring as Bariss to be very unhappy about the Jedi getting involved in the war. After all, she witnessed death and almost died herself on numerous occasions. Plus her and Luminara always seemed like very peaceful, by-the-book type of Jedi to me, so I can imagine that she'd want the Jedi Order to return to what it once was. And yes, this will likely change Bariss' EU death. The promo for the finale made it sound like Ahsoka was facing a death sentence, so Bariss might even get executed, but I doubt the show would do something that dark. She'll probably just get locked away never to be seen again, just like all CW criminals. That reminds me, I wonder how Poggle and Wat Tambor, who were seen in the cell block, are going to escape. -

Well, yeah, and there's the whole using the force thing. And yes, the fact that she was the only one who could have known that Ahsoka would be at the warehouse is also a pretty big sign that it's her. Maybe it's considered rude to run inside the council room? I dunno, it didn't strike me as all that odd, but it is kind of funny now that you mention it. And Yoda doesn't always reverse sentences. Wait, are you suggesting that Ahsoka and Barris had a romantic relationship? I think you may have been reading too many fanfics, but I know what you're saying. The answer is simple: It may be shocking that she would betray Ahsoka, but it's the same reason why Letta betrayed her husband, because her political beliefs outweigh her friendship with Ahsoka. That's what I'm assuming anyway. As for Ventress, bounties are a dime a dozen. There will be other big bounties for her to collect, but clearing her name is something only someone like Ahsoka can offer her, so it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that she couldn't refuse, even if it was just based on a promise. She probably knew that Jedi are usually too goody-goody to break their promise. -
Here's a picture of the battle pack from Brickset: My opinion: Worst. Battle Pack. Ever. Only four minifigs, half of which are named characters who already appear in booster packs and one of which also comes in another cheap set. What would you want with an army of Jays and Zanes?!? If this was exclusively a stone warrior battle pack, it would have been pretty good, and if it had Kai and Cole instead of the other two, it still might have been of use to some people, but as it is, it's pretty useless. Oh well, at least it's still better than the POTC battle pack which was just the figs from 4191 plus two other unimportant ones.
-
I disagree. If they do something like the Classic Alien's head, but with a longer neck, or something like they did on Pythor, I think it would work. But I don't believe they would have a Kaminoan for May the 4th promo simply because it would require such a new mold.
-
Very little, since both are based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic books, but while the videogame follows the canon very closely, the cartoon mostly makes up its own canon which is only very loosely based on the comics and other media. But this is not the place to discuss the show.

You both make good points, and after watching the latest episode and the commentary, I have to agree that -
It's interesting to see that they were willing to make movie-accurate all-gray vehicles for the MOS sets, but decided to throw in all those random blue bits on the BAT instead of making it all-black, isn't it? Maybe they learned their lesson from the TDKR set. I actually kinda like the spaceship, but yeah, the Black Zero Escape is garbage and only good for parts and figs.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

This arc is really picking up! Here's the blogger review of the last episode! So who do you think the real murderer is? I think it might be Darth Maul, even though I didn't expect to see him in this arc. Palpatine said he still had use for him, and he's expendable from Palpatine's point of view, so it would make sense that he would order him to pose as a Jedi, set Letta up, and later kill her. Or it really could be a rogue Jedi, but I find that hard to believe since I don't think Jedi usually know how to force choke (Anakin being an exception). Either way, Palpatine must be behind this somehow. It seems just like the type of thing for him to do in order to make the public distrust the Jedi, and he's the only one who could conceal the murderer's presence from Ahsoka. Maybe because they all have "Jedi" in the title? They do sound a bit odd, and The Jedi Who Knew Too Much doesn't really make sense as a title for this past episode, but does it really matter what they're titled? How so? Tarkin said that he wants to remove the Jedi from military matters, not integrate them more. But yeah, it's getting quite obvious that we're moving closer to the events of ROTS, what with all the phase 2 armors/vehicles, the rising public disapproval of the Jedi's interference in Republic matters, and Tarkin rising in the ranks and taking over control from the Jedi. It also feels like it's getting closer to the end of the series because they have started making references to past episodes quite often and are starting to kill off all the extra characters they have created. Which is all a good thing in my opinion. -
Thanks, LibraryBoy, and welcome to EB! Sorry, but I don't have instructions. It's a pretty straight-forward build though, so it shouldn't be too hard to reverse engineer. It does have some SNOT around its nose (Ha! ) but even that part should be easy enough to figure out.

Hi Darkdragon! Sorry to bump this thread, but I was wondering if you (or anyone else who has this fig) could do me a favor and take a picture of it straight from the front on a white background? I would like to make another one of my dark and light side pictures, but I couldn't find a good pic of this fig anywhere. So if anyone with a decent camera could do this for me I would really appreciate it and of course give credit.

Thanks! Well, I wouldn't call them prejudiced as much as I would call them hypocritical, but yes, that's part of the joke.

Indeed, the MLP: FiM season finale was pretty good, but I also felt a little underwhelmed.

Has there been any real confirmation of this? Last time I checked it was just a rumor based on a statement from the voice actors saying that they might do another sequel. Just because it's listed on IMDB doesn't mean it's happening, and quite frankly, I'm not sure I want it to. As you may know, I love Toy Story, and I would love to have more sets based on it, but like Cornelius said, the third movie was made to wrap up the story and it did that beautifully, so a fourth movie would feel forced. Anyway, if it does happen, it would obviously be under the Disney license like the first time, but they still need Disney's permission to make sets based on any of their properties. I'd disagree that planes are less exciting than cars, but I agree that it would be a nice continuation of the theme. There are some Planes Duplo sets coming out, so that's some promotion there, but no System sets as far as we know. Perhaps they didn't think it would be profitable enough based on the sales of the Cars sets? And for the record: Planes is NOT from Pixar! It's from DisneyToon Studios, the people who brought us the infamous Direct-to-DVD Disney sequels. So yeah, I'm not having a lot of expectations for this film either.
