Bruce Bat is one of the most wealthy citizen of Fabuland City. During the day he has parties with Fabuland's high society, but what nobody knows is that at night he dresses up like a man (the natural enemy of any animal) and becomes the feared Caped Crusader, the Bat-Man! Together with his feathered friend Robin the Bird Wonder, they fight villains such as Celina the Cat, Killer the Croc, or Oswald the Penguin. Here you can see him stopping one of his most notorious enemies from robbing the Fabuland Bank: The Hopper, a rabbit whose brown fur got turned white after he fell into some chemicals, driving him mad. Will the Bat-Man be able to foil his plans? Tune in next time to find out - same Fabu-time, same Fabu-channel! Here's a closer look at the hero and villain, and the Batmobile! I hope you like it. I tried to recreate the simple and colorful look of the Fabuland sets (without actually using many Fabuland parts since I barely have any) and still have it look like a Batman scene. Any comments or criticisms are welcome. Have a fabulous month!

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think the problem that I and many other people have with Brave is that it didn't live up to expectations. Based on the trailers, we were expecting something epic and new, and what we got instead is mostly just a hodgepodge of Disney movies that we've seen a million times before. Sure, the movie was well done in every other aspect and deserves its Oscar for the great visuals alone, but it just wasn't up to Pixar's standard of original storytelling, especially compared to Disney Animation Studio's recent works. I think this review sums up my thoughts about it pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh3eWvXle-s- 279 replies

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Good point. You might be right, but what else is there to milk? They cancelled pretty much everything SW related that was planned for the near future, and it will probably take them a while to produce this new animated series they announced, so the only reason why they would cancel the only thing that they could possibly milk for the next one or two years is that they think it is a good marketing decision rather than a financial one. Whom? The general SW viewing public. How? By stopping to show us stuff that happens before the OT and starting to show us stuff from the time period the new movies are set in (which is probably after the OT). That way they are ending the era of prequel related media and slowly start a new era revolving around the new movies. It kinda makes sense when you think about it, even if you may not like it. Sorry, but I don't believe you. I have heard other SW fans say this too, but if you care about SW then I have a hard time believing that you're not even a little bit curious what the new movies will be about. I think any SW fan who says they don't care about the new trilogy is probably just blinded by their biased rage about some decision to admit they actually do care. Search your feelings, you know it to be true. Nothing official, no. And yes, let's hope that cancelling all these things will help them meet their almost unrealistically close deadline for Episode VII as they said it would. -
Yes! I've been waiting for this CB as my favorite Star Wars era is the Clone Wars and I'm a huge fan of the original cartoon, so I'm totally entering this! I already have dozens of ideas, most of which I will probably not be able to execute, but I'll definitely enter something, so sign me up!

Cool Batpictures, guys! I'm feeling the turtle power today, so here are some TMNT-themed photos! The first one is the latest entry in my Dark Side series. Special thanks to Darkdragon for the excellent photo of the Shadow Leo minifig! The Dark Side of the Turtle by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The next one is a recreation of one of the scenes from the opening intro with pupils of their eyes edited out. I think they look much better this way. Lean Green Ninja Team by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr This one isn't really photography since it is just a compilation of screenshots from the TMNT stop motion videos on Lego's YouTube channel, but I didn't know where else to post it and thought some of you might want to use it as a wallpaper. This is the first time I've heard of a possible Lone Ranger game. Where did you hear this rumor? I don't think the Lone Ranger lends itself to a Lego game very well since all previous Lego games were based on at least three highly popular movies, and there is only one Lone Ranger movie coming out which nobody knows if it will even be popular or not, and I don't think they would make levels based on the old TV show. Besides, the next announced Lego game is Marvel Superheroes, and that one is slated for a late October release, so by the time they release another game, the Lone Ranger wont be popular anymore, even if the movie does well. Quite frankly, with a multitude of tv shows, movies, and comics to draw inspiration from and with its timeless appeal and large amount of characters, I think TMNT would be a much better candidate for a Lego game.

Agreed, there is still plenty of material from the past 5 seasons for Lego to make sets out of for the next few years until the new movie and cartoon come out. Well, all that quote is saying is that the show is being cancelled, which is the same thing the official announcement told us. That doesn't mean that they wont show the rest of the episodes that they have already produced in one way or another. I guess we just have to wait until there is more official news before we can know for sure.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Here's the rebel bloggers review of the season finale: Link You mightbe right about the PR thing, and I guess you're right that there is no evidence that the footage we have seen are part of those story arcs Filoni talks about, but on the other hand, what else could they be? I mean, why would they show another one of those excerpts from unaired episodes right after he says that there are still Clone Wars stoires coming if it wasn't one of those stories? If that was the case, it would be a very misleading move that is sure to piss off the fans. And they already said that the show is still successful and that people want it to continue, so I doubt that the profitability of the show is in question at this point. I think it's just about Disney wanting to draw focus on the upcoming movies. So I'm pretty sure that we will see the episodes where these clips came from eventually, in one way or another, even though the show is cancelled. Again, they might just show these episodes that they have already produced on one of Disney's networks and end the series after that, just like they're doing with Young Justice and Green Lantern. I must agree, it's quite frustrating that they are being so vague. If the show is over, then they should just tell us straight forward that it is, and if it's not, then they shouldn't make such a misleading announcement to begin with. And according to Filoni's comment in that video, the show is "not over yet." As for them stating that the show was successful and then going on to say that they decided to end it, I guess it comes down to a "quit while you're ahead" mentality. It's not an uncommon strategy and not meant to insult anybody (although it is quite an untypical thing to do for Disney and Lucasfilm, both of which are usually known to milk their properties down to the last penny). Good question. Maybe it's because blaster bolts move in a straight line and punches don't? I dunno, it's probably something about the force works in mysterious ways, the dark side clouds their precognitions, blah blah... -
As I already said in the Season 5 thread (which is probably where this issue should be discussed), there is nowhere in that article where it explicitly says that TCW is cancelled or that there will be no sixth season. It merely says that they aren't producing anything for Cartoon Network anymore and that they are just "winding down" the series. This can be interpreted in different ways, one of which, as mentioned, is that it is slowly coming to an end (which could mean another season, seeing as production keeps going) and that will simply be shown on a different network for the rest of its run. So until someone from Lucasfilm says "there is no season 6" or "CW will not be shown on TV anymore" I refuse to believe that the show is cancelled since there are so many story arcs that have yet to be shown and Filoni explicitly said that "TCW is not over yet".

Mind providing a source for this statement? I have yet to see an official confirmation of this.

It doesn't work in the US, so I'm guessing it wont work in China either. I would also like to know a good place to watch these episodes as my DVR didn't record the episode "I, Monster" for some reason, and oddly enough the nick website doesn't have it either, even though they have the episodes that came before and after it.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Why is everyone saying that the series is over? All they said in the official announcement is that they aren't producing it for Cartoon Network anymore, which was to be expected after the Disney deal. To me, that just sounds like they will show Season 6 on one of the Disney owned channels. And they only say they are "winding down" the series, which was also to be expected seeing how close it's getting to RotS. Filoni says they are still producing several new story arcs (each of which will probably consist of 2-4 episodes) and I just can't see them including so many episodes as mere bonus content on a DVD, even if it's a box set. So until they come out and say where the next episodes are going to be available, I suggest everyone to keep calm and wait for further news. On a brighter note: How cool was that clip at the end of that video?! There are clones fighting droids, clones returning to their original programming, and the return of Admiral Trench!!! Can't wait for this episode! -
Booyakasha! Thanks! It's a pun. Look up "pirate radio". Then you'll get it.

Oops, I guess I misread your post. Did you look at the set I linked to? There, they used a minifig head for a pineapple, which I was making fun of.
-
Thanks! Nice one yourself! My second funny is supposed to be an explanation for why that minifig is half Dr. Jekyll and half Mr. Hyde rather than one or the other.

I agree, it doesn't seem like Simpsons is very popular anymore, not for adults and certainly not for Lego's target audience, and I don't see its popularity rising anytime soon. Sure, it's the longest running sitcom, critically acclaimed, and a pop culture icon, but I don't see anyone clamoring for Simpsons Lego sets. As for the content, yes, it's a bit controversial, but at the same time I can see Lego making it quite innocent.I imagine it very similar to the Spongebob theme with colorful sets based around locations with wacky play features and a yellow title character in every set. As long as they don't depict the characters doing anything adult on the box, I think it could work. Besides, kids don't need to watch the show to play with toys based on it. However, the question whether they would even want a toy based on a show they don't watch, as opposed to sets based on shows they do watch like Spongebob, still remains. And this is where I think this license would fail. I personally have no interest in a Simpsons theme and hope this is a hoax, but if this is true and leads to Futurama Lego sets, I'm all for it!

That was already posted on the last page. By the way, the month of April will have a TMNT theme at the Lego Stores (which is fitting seeing as that's the name of their human friend ) and there will be a Splinter key chain that you get free with a $75 purchase. This might be useful for people who don't want to get the Turtle Lair just for him.

Never mind, I just found it. Should've looked for it in my Pharaoh's Quest Mocs earlier.
