  1. Set #: 7591 Name: Construct-a-Zurg Theme: Toy Story Year of Release: 2010 Pieces: 118 Price: $24.99 USD S@H description: The Evil Emperor Zurg is out to conquer the galaxy! Now you can build Buzz Lightyear’s arch-nemesis, the Evil Emperor Zurg! With his powerful sphere-shooting cannon and rotating waist, this poseable galactic overlord is more than ready to battle Buzz and his little green alien friend the next time they meet. Includes alien minifigure! Since my Construct-a-Buzz was starting to feel lonely, I picked this set up from Walmart recently, and I thought I'd review this next in order to fill the last gap in the Toy Story review index. Let's start with the box. The box art is the same as on all the first wave Toy Story sets, except that it sports a Special Edition tag on the front, and several more on the side in different languages. The back shows a straight-on shot of the set and its play features. Inside the box, you will find two bags, a Midak Skyblaster, a tube, an instruction booklet, and a cardboard envelope containing Zurg's cape. No stickers! Yay. A random instruction page showing the secret support of Zurg's body: Click here to view the inventory page, and click here to see one of the ads in the back of the booklet. Some notable parts: A bunch of pieces we have never seen in purple, including those new half cylinder parts; yellow Zamor Spheres; the three printed parts of the set; black 1x2 cheese slopes; and the alien's head still in its individual bag. The only minifig included is this LGM (Little Green Man). Here he is getting his head out of its bag: Done! Isn't he cute? He even has some back printing! And here's the set itself, the Evil Emperor Zurg, in all his pointy might! He's pretty impressive to look at. He is quite sturdy, but he tends to lean toward the right where his weapon is. Left side. Here you can get a good look at the disk that displays the power levels of Zurg's blaster, numbered 1-11. The choice of a textured brick in Zurg's elbows seems odd, but it does make it look more interesting I suppose. Back view. From this angle, the evil emperor looks very similar to a certain other Dark Lord. Here's the back without the cape: The right side. The blaster doesn't look as good from this angle. A bottom view where you can see that Zurg has a stick up his... well, you know. Left over parts include two studs and some Techinc bits: And here's a little action shot: "Who says purple is dead!" Compared to the "real thing", it looks pretty good, although the blaster is way inaccurate. There's not much you can do with this set. Zurg's waist and head can turn, and you can shoot little balls with his blaster, but there is not much to shoot at except for the poor little LGM. However, if you also have 7592 Construct-a-Buzz, you can have all sorts of fun! Example: Bonus: If power was measured by cape size, this little emperor would already be ruler of the universe! Behold! The Evil Emperor Shrunkhead! Zurg (with chipmunk voice): "Fear me!" Hi res versions of all pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. Ratings: Design: I think the design is pretty good. Zurg is spot on and pretty sturdy. The only things that drag the design down are the blocky arms with unposeable elbows and the inaccurate blaster. 4/5 Parts: It's a set mostly made out of purple. Need I say more? All parts are very useful, except for maybe the blaster and the top of Zurg's head. It might have been better if the horns were silver versions of those on Mola Ram's headpiece stuck into holes on the new purple piece. But then again, this way it's sturdier and more accurate. 4/5 Minifigs: There's only one in this set, but considering it's a bonus, it's great that it's included. The LGM looks very cute and movie accurate and you just want to have a whole bunch of them! 5/5 Build: The build is rather simple really. No big surprises or challenges. Not bad either though. 3/5 Price: 118 pieces for $25 is not good, not even for a licensed set. The fact that it's limited edition is no excuse. 2/5 Playability: Well, for what it is (a buildable Zurg action figure), it's quite alright. The blaster works very well and Zurg's waist & head can be turned easily. The only thing missing are poseable elbows. And as mentioned above, it would have been nice to have some other target than the LGM. 3/5 Overall: 4/5 It's pricey, slightly inaccurate, and you need Construct-a-Buzz to be able to actually play anything with it, but it looks great on display and is a good parts pack! And it's always great to have another one of those LGMs. I hope you enjoyed my second Toy Story review. As I said in the last one, more are still to come. To the Okymobile!
  2. Thanks for doing this again, Stash! Here is my new sigfig: If you don't have a Buzz fig, feel free to us the one from last year:
  3. Ah, so it's a I'm-a-SW-nerd-and-proud-of-it tag? Sweet, I want one! Meesa have bombad dedication to da Star Wars theme! I have been here for over two years, have over 3000 posts, and exactly 25% of my posts are in this forum, so I'd say I'm eligible. Just one question: If we fall below that percentage at some point, do we loose the tag?
  4. Hello there. I am a huge fan of the Jak & Daxter series of videogames and felt like recreating some of the neat vehicles. These are mostly based on Jak II: Renegade. First, I built a Zoomer Bike. It's not based on any particular one, but rather shares some traits of all (or most) of them. Unfortunately, it came out a bit too big, but it's not too bad, I think. Next, I made a two-seat zoomer. This one turned out perfectly in my opinion. And last but not least, the Krimzon Guard Hellcat Cruiser. This one didn't come out quite as good as I had hoped, but it's definitely not bad. Side view. Note the under-mounted blaster: The weapons at the top can be tilted up: Top view: Hope you like them. I might make some more some day, but this is it for now.

I see Stash has it too... Does that mean it's some kind of mod tag? If so, what's the point? We can already tell that they are mods by their Group icon.

So, uhm, what's that fancy new "Star Wars" tag you got there, KimT?
  7. How does that make you said? R2 is awesome!
  8. Greetings! I am Oky Wan Kenobi. I come in peace. To celebrate the release of the Toy Story sets, I am planning to create a series of Star Command MOCs, most of which will be based on the cartoon Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. If you haven't seen it, it's a great show with lots of references to SW and other great sci-fi works. Anyway, I thought I'd start by making a fast car for my sigfig. I call it the Okymobile! With this lean, mean, racing machine, Star Command will have no trouble keeping up with the evil emperor Zurg. Just look at them big ol' tires and exhausts! If you would see this in real life, you'd be flat as a space pancake in the next second : My sigfig approves. And now that he's out, we can take a look inside. This MOC was loosely based on this Disney Racers Diecast: Hi-res pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. Here are some ideas I have for future Star Command MOCs: Off-road buggy Troop transport (a large six-wheeled vehicle that resembles the Clone Turbo Tank from Star Wars) Space cycle Speedboat Zurgmobile (0:44)Construct-a-XR Star Command Training Deck (skip to 3:11) Star Command Science Bay (skip to 1:25) Zurg's Dreadnought and Team Lightyear's Star Command cruiser 42 Zurg Tower (skip to 9:02) The buggy will be up next. I probably wont make all of these, but I'll try to make most of them. I added a poll so that you can tell me which one(s) you think I should do next. If you have any ideas of your own, please tell me, and I'll be glad to add them to the poll. Thanks. To the Okymobile!
  9. Well, there seems to be a high demand for alternatives of the 2010 BPs, so if you have those, you could try to do something with those. For example, you could try to come up with a different kind of vehicle that uses the chasis of the speederbike from the Imp. BP.
  10. No, you can only have one of each hero.
  11. Thanks. I have recreated it in LDD (as well as I could) in order to create instructions, but I don't know how to post them here, and the model is still pending approval in the Design-by-Me gallery on Lego.com. When I save the instructions as HTML and link to it here, it says "server not found" when you click on the link. Can anybody help?
  12. Nice droid repair room, meuleu, even though it kinda looks like an incinerator room. It's much better now with Aureebesh writing. However, I'm afraid it does not meet specifications. You need to have technic bricks at the bottom of the walls, the technic bricks are not allowed to be on the open side, and the wall without technic bricks (the one facing the outside of the Venator) needs to be dark grey. If you could fiv that, you'll have a great eligible entry! Anyway, here is mine: Droid Repair Bay of Venator 2 I have already started planning the Bridge, but since this is a larger room and my school is about to start, it might take a while until I post it. Furthermore, I'd like to register for two more rooms: Room 14 in Venator 1 as an engine room, and Room 16 in Venator 2 as a hair salon.
  13. Droid Repair Bay (Venator 2) This where all the broken droids of Venator 2 get fixed. In the center of the room, there is a main repair area where you can see the mechanic, a goose droid, fixing up an R2 unit. In the back, there is a desk with a magnifying glass for more in-depth repairs. A gonk droid is standing next to the desk for extra power supply. This is the wall on the right which features some tools, gas tanks, spare droid parts, and a ventilation shaft. The left wall is where the door is. Next to the door, an ASP droid is waiting for his turn to be repaired. A look through the door: A top view. The pose of the two droids in the center looks a bit awkward from this angle... Click here to view a version of the top view without the droids. Here we can see the goose droid working on an R4 head at the desk. And here is a shot of the three minifigs: the ASP droid, the G2 repair droid, and the R2 unit with a third leg. You can find hi-res versions of these pics in this brickshelf folder.
  14. I just discovered that you can also build a Mini Twilight out of one Scout Walker Battle Pack (not that anybody would want to! ): It only takes one BP, and you will have a whole bunch of left over pieces too. What do you think?
  15. Got Construct-a-Zurg from Walmart today (my first Walmart Lego purchase) and a review will be up soon.
  16. Thanks for creating this thread, KimT. Hopefully there wont be any more of these silly discussions in the rumor thread. Personally, I don't give a smurf. It's the vehicles that count for me, not the minifigs. ARC, Tri-fighter, and swamp speeder are all vehicles that were used during the clone wars, so that's what they are for me - Clone Wars sets. Besides, the Arc and Tri-fighter were featured in the old Clone Wars cartoon. But in general, I guess you could say they are kinda both, as Darth Legolas said. I can definitely see TLC trying to meet AFOL demand by including non-CW faced minifigs in the sets, but categorizing them as CW so that the kids will still buy them.
  17. Thanks ADHO. Hi Legonater. Discussion goes in this thread, not the entry thread. I'm not sure if new entrants are allowed anymore at this point, but I can answer your questions for you. I'm pretty sure that the answer to the last four questions is no, and as for how it works, check the first post. Hope that helped.
  18. Yeah, I guess he could play more mad than Depp can, but I can imagine that Depp can make it work if he mixes Willy Wonka with Jack Sparrow. I've never played it actually, only seen trailers and stuff, but I like the idea of a dark and gritty Alice sequel. Who's Joey Depp? (Punctuation Fail)
  19. Alice in Wonderland is one of my least favorite Disney movies, and I have never liked any of the other adaptions, but this one looks promising. I'm no emo guy, but I like Burton's work, and this movie certainly seems to have his signature style. I especially like the Cheshire Cat. The Mad Hatter is a perfect role for Depp as well. This is definitely on my to-watch list for this year. But I still think it would have been more entertaining if he would have made something more in the style of American McGee's Alice instead of an adaption of the original book.
  20. Can't you at least tell us what we won? Please? Christmas is long over, and this is starting to turn into a spring calendar raffle.
  21. Nice Xmas-Wing (that's what you should have called it IMO ) The back looks good, but the front is pretty lacking. You could have at least put some green on there. Oh well. Good luck in the contest.
  22. The microsite has been updated! Check out the character bios; they're quite funny.
  23. The microsite has been updated. The story section is quite humorous. I especially like the one for the LGM. It's disappointing though that all four army men have the same text. I would have expected that least the medic would have a different story. Oh well. They also started airing a commercial on TV for the RC and spaceship sets. It has a funny story where Zurg steals Buzz' ship and Woody and Buzz take it back by launching "The Big One" at him. I'll post it if I find it online or manage to record it. Oh, and during my last visit to the Lego Store, I noticed something interesting in one of the showcases: Next to the 10195 AT-OT with Dropship they had a little army of LGMs. I hope TLG comes up with a cheap way to aquire these guys because I'd love to have an army of them!
  24. How come you have exams so shortly after new years? Oh well, that's fine. So does this mean we still have time to update our armies?
  25. Congratulations, ADHO, you managed to postpone this until the next year! Seriously though, how long do we still have to wait?
