  1. Hm... Looks more like a crash landing on an alien planet than an underwater version to me. Of course it's hard to portray the sea floor if you don't have any aquatic pieces, so I don't really know how you could improve it. In addition, this is a VERY small set, so there's not really much you could do with it even if you had the necessary pieces. I gotta say, that turtle is quite brilliant, though, and ironically reminds me of Squirt from Finding Nemo. I am happy to see that someone chose a TS set for this contest. I personally couldn't bring myself to alter my TS sets. And why wouldn't SW sets work? I think it would have been great to see a sunken AT-TE, AT-AT, or Venator or something!
  2. OK, just making sure, since "custom minifig" could refer to purist ones as well. My category B entry is already done! I just need to take pictures of it and post it.
  3. Good news everyone! FBTB reports that we'll get a look at the finalized Batcave at NYCC next weekend! Also, they'll be giving away Superman minifigs along with the Bats and GL ones. I don't really think so either, but it's still a possibility as these are still preliminary and might be lacking printing. After all, Bats has blue pants on.
  4. Actually, I do. Quite a bit in fact. It's just that whenever TCW gets something right in terms of look/animation, there's usually something to detract from it. For example, I agree with Brickdoctor that the lightsaber fights in this show still need some work as they tend to look choppy. And while the fight with Grievous in the rain had a nice overall look, it could have been better. For instance, they should have made Grievous and all other droids and vehicles more shiny, like wet metal should be, and maybe even have some rain drops dripping down from him. But I understand if they don't have the time to concern themselves with such details. Who wouldn't be if you were sitting in a room with Jar Jar for a while? But yeah, I hope so too. Then again, I've been hoping for that ever since the beginning of this show.
  5. Even though these are still highly preliminary, it's still good to finally get an idea of what these sets will look like, so thank you very much! It seems that our speculations were correct that they are taking a similar approach to the revival of Lego Batman as they did with Harry Potter with retro versions of the original sets. What I like: Batman's jetpack looks sweet! The Batcave looks much better than the first one! I like the weapons rack, the computer seems better designed, and most importantly, it seems to be much more affordable! Lex's mech looks great with all that trans-light-green! The Batmobile looks better with this windscreen and without that stupid Technic missile. What I don't like: The Batwing set looks worse than before. It would be especially disappointing if Joker really does end up having a simple flag instead of the awesome "BANG" flag he had in the previous version. "Double Face". Need I say more? All in all, it's looking promising. Now we just have to wait for the final pics to show up. Could it be that the helicopter pilot is actually the Riddler?
  6. Agreed. Heck, we haven't even seen ANY kind of pics of the Superheroes sets which are due to be released around the same time!
  7. Well, the Dwarf Warrior may not look much like Gimli, but he could certainly be a stand-in for him, don't you think? And yes, I'm sure you can enter both categories, just like in the previous CMF contests.
  8. Well, I'm expecting an onslaught of LOTR scenes with the dwarf and elf. Oh, OK, thanks. Hm, this is gonna be tricky...
  9. You just had to start the contest on the last day of my break, didn't you? Well, everyone has been anticipating this for quite some time, and it's great that it's finally here! Good idea for Category B too! So, just to clarify, it just has to fit into a specific movie genre, not represent a scene from an actual movie, right?
  10. Yeah, let's, although I'm not too hopeful. I think all that Brickset announcement meant was that they're ruling out the possibility of the figs being available before the theme starts being released, which would be kind of a redundant thing to say, but oh well.
  11. Nah, it's just a MOC by the one who took the picture.
  12. Oh, my bad. I was thinking of the SDCC one. I don't know where I initially saw it, but this is the best picture I can find right now: The user who uploaded the photo swears that he was told by a Lego rep that this batman and GL wont be released in sets. EDIT: Here's another, darker, but less blurry one:
  13. What's wrong with that? But yeah, while this looks strange, I guess it would look even worse with Flesh legs. Oh, and I think it was already confirmed that Batman has back printing.
  14. Greetings, fellow deep sea explorers! Since my entry for the Underwater Version Contest is so big that it is impossible to do it justice with only 3 pictures, I decided to create its own thread. The Sunken Ruins of the Royal Knights' Castle Set: 6090 Royal Knights' Castle Theme: Castle (Royal Knights) This mighty castle was once the stronghold of the Royal Knights and their king. Now it serves as a fortress once more, but for the creatures of the deep. The Atlantis Portal Emperor has claimed it his own, and now it is inhabited by various sea creatures. Moos and algae are growing everywhere, the metal gate is rusting, and the castle is starting to fall apart. Here are some views of it from all angles: Let's take a closer look at some of the details. A large crab has called the shack outside of the castle his home. In front of the gates, there lie the remains of one of the Royal Knights' horses. The catapult has fallen off the castle tower and now lies in the sand. This skeleton is the only remainder of the castle's original inhabitants. Check out this piece of a tower which has broken off of the castle. But don't get too close! A mother shark has chosen this as her nesting place and she is very protective! Also, it looks like a ship has lost its anchor here. The drawbridge of the side entrance on the other side of the castle is decayed and has snapped. Good thing one doesn't need it anymore to get into the castle as one can just swim inside now. Behind there is a sunken row boat as well as an octopus and a clam. The courtyard behind the main entrance gate, which used to feature a trap door with a skeleton underneath for scaring off unwanted guests, now houses a much more terrifying threat: A horrible giant squid! Also, as you can see in the back corner, the ghost that already inhabited this castle ages ago still haunts these walls, regardless of its new watery environment. It guards the treasure that is stored above it. Whoever opposed the Portal Emperor will be thrown into the dungeon where they have to fight the Kraken. The well in front of the dungeon has lost its purpose as it is now surrounded by water and only serves as a growing place for algae. The Portal Emperor sits on the throne that once belonged to the Royal Knights King. The roof above his head is in dire need of renovation. Luckily he doesn't need to worry about rain coming through. That's it for now, but there are lots more details to discover, so please visit this Brickshelf folder if you wish to see more pictures. And please post any comments or criticisms you might have below. Thanks, and have a great Underwater Month!

  16. Hehe, nice. Too bad Rascus' sword isn't green though. And yes, it has been slow. I'll try to post some new ones soon.
  17. I see. Well, yes, but the same thing could be (and has been) said about Grievous and Obi Wan. I've been wondering the very same thing since the beginning of this season. A quick visit of every SW fan's best friend (aka. Wookieepedia) reveals that he apparently moved to the moon.
  18. Yes, that sounds plausible, considering how touchy the Gungans were in PM about the Naboo entering their space, so perhaps the Naboo agree to leave them alone and not monitor their land? Again, pretty far fetched, but I'm sure there's some explanation for this. "Not used to their full potential" is an understatement as I don't think they'll do anything more than we see them do in this preview since the synopsis says "the native Aleena's pleas go unheard". But I agree on the Threepio-Artoo humor. This almost looks like an episode from the old Droids cartoon. Did they say that? I knew they are avoiding to have him meet Grievous, but I didn't know they were doing it with Dooku too. And why would they?
  19. As usual, I'm with Doc on this one. Despite the common flaws that infest nearly every episode of The Clone Wars, it was actually pretty good, or at least better than the lame Mon Cal episodes. The next episode looks kinda fun. It's also good to see Threepio do what he was programmed to do for once, translate. But is it just me or is the CW team borrowing more and more from Ratchet & Clank? First they had the same voice actor, then the alien race in the next episode looks almost exactly like Tachyon, and those big-eared people with whips from the Season 4 preview look just like Lombaxes with plasma whips. I also just noticed that the webcomics are gone! They were the best thing about this show (aside from the Lego sets of course). I guess I should have seen this coming, seeing how they were more and more procrastinating on releasing the comics in the last season. Oh well, at least now they can't rely on telling the best part of a story in a webcomic instead of in the actual episode anymore.
  20. Check out the summer 2011 Lego Star Wars commercials! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_KyQjIm0Pg Are these the coolest commercials ever, or what?
  21. Sorry for the double post (and thread revival), but I just had to share this cool video that I found on the Lego Cars website! I sure hope there will be more!
  22. I have never been quite clear on this myself, but I like to believe Dooku does believe in his cause, and that he is just another one of Palpatine's pawns. The reason why he tends to attempt to overthrow his master is simply that he is a Sith. It's what they do. To give the usual response to these questions: Just wait for the re-remastered edition of the saga.
  23. Wow, what an amazing creation! I love Garfield as much as I love superheroes, so this is a perfect crossover for me! There are so many good techniques being used here, and everything from the bases to the different alterations of the famous comic cat are very recognizable and well built! The addition of brick-built classic quotes are the icing on the cake! (Mmmh... cake. ) My favorite part, however, would have to be the regular Garfield head in the back. It's just so spot-on, and I can't wait to see your full-body rendition of him! The only thing that I would improve on, if any, would be to make Batman's eyes white and make the building below him gray in order to fit the bleak look of Gotham. Great job all around, and keep it up!
  24. Not capable enough, though. Remember, they still lost that battle - twice! That's probably why Lucas Dooku is ordering the production of new droid models. And yet, they still keep losing.
