My entry is a recreation of the concept art for the final scene of season 1 of The Mandalorian where Moff Gideon emerges from his crashed TIE Fighter with the Darksaber. While the final scene ended up looking very similar, there are still some key differences. For starters, the setting is during daylight, not sunset, and the TIE Fighter appears to be heavier damaged Also, the hole that Gideon cut into the hull with the Darksaber is missing and the Jawas are still in the shot as he stands atop his ship. This is likely because in the concept art the fighter seems to have crashed right side up instead of upside down, meaning that the hatch on top isn't obstructed, giving Gideon no reason to cut his way out of the cockpit and scare the Jawas off. What I really like about this concept art is how Gideon has a much more dynamic pose with his cape and the smoke behind him flowing in the wind. Reference:

Hi everyone. I thought I'd share my entries for the recent "Let's Get Tropical" contest in the Lego Speeder Bikes group on Flickr. There were 3 categories and the idea was to have them be tropical themed (although it wasn't a requirement). Here are my entries for each category: Island Racing While most of the time the tropical planet Paradisa is an idyllic vacation spot where beings from across the galaxy come to relax and unwind, once a year the resort hosts an exciting high-speed speeder bike race around its beautiful islands. The Seaside Speederbike is a fast and elegant ride that is perfectly designed for the Paradisa racetrack. It is built to match the bright, pastel-colored aesthetics that Paradisa is known for and uses design elements from vehicles that you typically see around the islands such as horse carriages and surfboards. With three powerful engines and small adjustable wings on each side for quick turns, victory is assured for the rider of this speeder bike! When I think "tropical islands", one of the first things that come to mind is Paradisa, so I wanted to have my speeder bike to be themed after this childhood favorite theme. I tried to use as many original Paradisa parts as possible. Musically Inspired When I think of the tropics and music, what comes to mind is the King of Rock, Elvis Presley, and how he liked to spend a lot of his time in Hawaii. So, for my entry for the music category in the Lego Speeder Bikes contest "Let's Get Tropical" I built a speederbike inspired by Rock'n'Roll music. Part jukebox, part 1950's retro vehicle, it's built to rock'n'race across the tropical islands! It even has an electric guitar holder in the back. Bounty Hunter Zarko Hydraxon used to be a proud member of the devious Aquasharks. However, his methods of acquiring Hydrolator crystals were too ruthless even for his fellow Aquasharks, so they banished him from their group. Since Aquasharks aren't very popular in the Aquazone, none of the other factions wanted to take him in, so Zarko decided to leave the Aquazone to forge his own path by becoming a bounty hunter. Now traversing the tropical oceans and calling himself Lone Shark, he will work for anyone who is willing to pay in Hydrolator crystals. He built himself a fearsome custom speeder bike to hunt down his bounty. Like the Aquashark subs, it is shaped like a big black shark to strike terror into the hearts of his prey and is equipped with harpoon launchers, robot arms, and a fishing net to capture his bounty. It is amphibious, so it can either hover over the water or dive underwater. It also has a sonar compass on the dashboard for tracking down bounties. All this along with his trusty harpoon gun and knives make him one of the most dangerous bounty hunters around! Aquazone was another childhood favorite theme, and it's water-related, so I chose to theme my bounty hunter after one of the antagonistic factions from that theme. What do you think? Which one do you like best?

I thought it was alright, just like the CW episodes that introduced the Bad Batch. All the main characters are still one-dimensional copies of the TMNT, except maybe Hunter. Yeah, the prison break scene was kinda dumb, but the action was fun enough. I'll stick with it to see where they go with it. I'd say it's at about the same level as CW, definitely not as bad as Resistance. Rebels is still the best one out of these 3 shows.

Oh, I actually really love this idea! This could especially work for Ninjago as you could turn the variants of each of the main ninjas into a faction based around a certain element so that you end up with an Avatar: The Last Airbender style world with a Fire Ninja clan, an Ice Ninja clan, etc. Sadly I don't have nearly enough Ninjago sets to do that, but I'd love to see someone realize this idea! I actually did something similar for my Pharaoh's Quest Chess Set where I turned my many Johnny Thunders into a team of generic adventurers by switching the heads.

Sounds like a good plan! The reason why I suggested that order is because characters from Static Shock and Batman Beyond show up in JLU, but no biggie. And yeah, I also hope the revival comes to fruition, although I'm only cautiously optimistic since I haven't seen any revival except Samurai Jack that has matched the quality of its original so far and I have not been impressed by the recent movies that Bruce Timm has produced (Killing Joke and Batman & Harley Quinn were particularly bad) making me worry that he has lost his touch, but it will be worth it just to hear Conroy and Hamill reprise their roles again. Correct. What I meant was that it is still being produced by Nickelodeon. Fair enough. And yeah, I'm also disappointed. I believe there is another Avatar project still in review, but it's practically the same, so I don't have high hopes for it. Hopefully it will show TLG that there is clearly interest in more Avatar sets, and with this new wave of movies/shows, there will be plenty of material to tie sets into and make sets out of, so fingers crossed!

I'm usually more into sci-fi and don't watch a lot of fantasy, but The Dragon Prince is pretty good. It's made by some of the people who worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's not as good as A:TLA, especially when it comes to the animation, but it's still pretty good and has dragons and elves and magic and stuff. And as I've said on here before, the Tales of Arcadia trilogy (Trollhunters, 3Below, Wizards) is excellent as well! Speaking of Avatar, what is everyone's thoughts on the newly announced movie and shows? I'm kinda excited, but also a bit worried because they will be on Nickelodeon and the last series, Legend of Korra, was flawed to say the least. I hope the studio won't interfere too much this time and let them craft some good stuff.

Nice! You should watch Static Shock next, then Batman Beyond, then Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, then Justice League, then JL Unlimited. I've also been catching up on some recent DC stuff. One thing that stood out is the Harley Quinn animated series. It's way better than I had expected. The animation is really good for such a comedy-heavy show and the comedy is pretty funny. But it also has some good, heartfelt serious moments and character development, and some good action too. It reminded me a lot of Venture Bros. in that way (R.I.P. ) and in how the villains are organized in this show. I'd even say it's the best characterization of Harley to date. Poison Ivy also has some good development. What I like best about it is that there is an epic story about Batman, his villains, and the Gordons going on in the background that wouldn't be out of place in B:TAS, but it's all told through the twisted, r-rated lens of Harley Quinn. The amount of cussing is a bit excessive, but overall I can really recommend it if you don't mind a more humorous and mature take on Gotham's underworld. I also watched Pacific Rim: The Black and it's very good! I am a huge fan of the first movie and was a bit disappointed with the sequel. After just one season, this series is already up there with the first movie for me! It's a bit low on action and feels a bit more like Mad Max than Pacific Rim at times, but the story and character development are very good. Can't wait for the next season! I watched Blood of Zeus. It's not as good as Castlevania, but not bad. Worth a watch. I'm curious about AoT as well.

So me and my parents decided to go ahead and pay the premium to see Raya and the Last Dragon (since we would have paid more if we had seen it at the theater) and I really liked it! The visuals are fantastic, as are the music and performances. It has a nice message about trust (although some might argue it's a bit idealistic, even for Disney) and some other good themes that reflect today's culture. The humor feels a bit more like Dreamworks than Disney and probably wont work for everyone, but I didn't mind it. It also has some very interesting world building that is reminiscent of that of Avatar: The Last Airbender. However, due to having to introduce so much lore and so many different locations in one movie, the pacing suffers a bit and I think it would have worked better as a series like A:TLA with the characters visiting a new tribe each season. Still, I can definitely recommend checking it out, especially once the premium period is over. I also watched the last few episodes of DuckTales and, oh man, what a duck blur! I loved the Kit Cloudkicker episode as it was great to see Kit and Molly all grown up and seeing Kit struggling to live up to Baloo's legacy. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing a whole TaleSpin sequel series like this! And "The Last Adventure" was great as well with lots of great twists and turns and references! I just about lost my mind at that scene with the horse! It wasn't quite as epic as I was hoping (I really wanted to see an Endgame-style battle between all the Disney Afternoon heroes and villains) but it was still a great end to a great show with a nice message about family. I'm sad it's over, but I'm glad we got what we got and that it was as good as it was. This show really set a new standard for how to do a reboot right. Anyone else watch these?

So I just started playing with this Microgame and so far seems like a pretty neat tool. After going through all the tutorials and playing with it for a while, I still have some questions though. Is there any way to make hinges or any other kinds of substructures, like turning wheels on a vehicle or moving arms on a character? I can't seem to be able to make a brick/model the child/parent of another. Also, is there any way to apply gravity on anything other than projectiles and minifigs? I also have the problem that when I import the mods, they import with a bunch of errors, making a lot of the scripts not work, including the brick building mode (the snapping together of the bricks). It seems like it is unable to locate the original files for the prefabs, even though I imported everything afaik. Anyone know what I did wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.

They sure are! Welcome, young ninja! I'm glad you decided to learn about the way of the Ninja(Go)! I can really recommend to start your training by watching the show. It's surprisingly good and the main source material for the sets. There really is only one show/continuity, Lego Ninjago: Master of Spinjitzu, although the series was moved to a different animation studio starting with season 11 and got a bit of a format change to shorter episodes, so technically the recent episodes are considered a separate show simply titled "Lego Ninjago", but it's basically a continuation of Masters of Spinjitzu. Currently, Netflix has all the episodes from both shows, except for the two pilot episodes which can be found on DailyMotion here and here. So my recommended order to watch them in is the following: Ninjago pilot episodes Ninjago: Master of Spinjitzu (Seasons 1-6) Day of the Departed special Ninjago: Master of Spinjitzu (Seasons 7-10) Ninjago (Seasons 11-13 and onward) The Lego Ninjago Movie The reason why I list TLNM last is because it is a complete reboot that is very different from the show and not as good in my and many other fans' opinion, so if you watch it first, it will give you the wrong first impression of Ninjago. It's still entertaining though, so it's just a fun optional addition. Of course, just like for everything, there is a Ninjago wiki, although trying to learn about the complex lore of the show, its world and characters by just reading their wiki summaries is not the best way and may just end up confusing you more. However, if you really don't want to go through 13+ seasons of the show and just want a brief, yet entertaining summary of it, watch this video on Lego's YouTube channel which is basically the Honest Trailer for Ninjago (and contains spoilers obviously): Now get out there and (ninja)go watch them! It is meant to be a stylized sun, so the roundness is intentional, although you might be right that adding some orange or flame-yellow would make it look more interesting, maybe as a gradient like I did with the water. Hi everyone! This is a series of scenes based on the popular Disney+ series "The Mandalorian" which I built for Bricks LA 2021, a free virtual AFOL convention that is happening this weekend. First up, a vignette of the mandalorian armorer taking on a squad of stormtroopers inside her workshop with nothing but the tools of her trade as seen in "Chapter 8: Redemption". This Chapter is my favorite as it is filled with badass moments like this. There is a Mandalorian crest above the doorway, a table with forged helmets and jetpacks to the right, and the armorer's toolbox to the left. From the cold open of the same chapter, this vignette depicts IG-11 showing up to rescue the Child from the hapless scout troopers that kidnapped him. Nearby, you can see the transmitter that the troopers had used for target practice earlier. Next, we have Cobb Vanth riding his speeder made out of a podracer engine through the deserts of Tatooine from Chapter 9: The Marshal. There is a hook for storing Boba Fett's helmet behind his seat. This MOC will make a nice addition to the Trouble on Tatooine set coming out this year. Based on Chapter 12: The Siege, this vignette shows Cara Dune, Greef Karga, and the mythrol escaping the Nevarro Imperial base with a stolen Trexler Marauder and being chased by speederbikes and TIE Fighters through a canyon. The Mando shows up in his Razor Crest to shoot down the TIEs to save them. That's it for now. I still have a few ideas for vignettes, so keep an eye on this thread as I may add more. 15 years ago, I moved to California from Germany with my family and it changed my life tremendously. I love it here, so I wanted to make a tribute to the Golden State that highlights some of its best and most recognizable features. This is a three dimensional map of California with a minifig and micro build for each landmark, including Hollywood, Disneyland, Legoland, Death Valley, Joshua Tree Park, Monterey Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite Half Dome, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, and Redwood Park. I tried to make it as topographically accurate as possible with all the mountains and valleys. I even included the islands around it. As you can see, it has the recognizable sock-shape of California. Let's take a closer look, starting with the NorCal portion. Here you can see a hiker among some redwood trees, a vineyard farmer harvesting grapes for his wine, and a snowboarder by Lake Tahoe. The bay area is represented by a micro build of the golden state bridge, a hippie, and a seal for Monterey Bay. The SoCal section is comprised of the Hollywood sign with an Academy Award winning actress, the Disneyland Castle, a placemark for Bricks LA (which this MOC was built for), and Legoland California. In the back, you can see a joshua tree and a skeleton, representing Joshua Tree Park and Death Valley respectively. And what would a California MOC be without a surfer dude? This dude is surfing in front of a beach scene that represents all the great beaches in California such as Santa Barbara and Pismo Beach. Let me know what you think in the comments. SO MUCH DISNEY NEWS TODAY! Pixar just announced two new movies on their slate. One of them is a Buzz Lightyear origin story titled "Lightyear" about how the "real" Buzz became a space ranger and comes out June 17, 2022. Needless to say, I'm super excited! Even though this will probably retcon Buzz Lightyear of Star Command which Pixar seems to want to sweep under the rug for no good reason. This version of Buzz will be played by Chris Evans instead of Tim Allen which I actually don't mind. It might take some getting used to a new voice, but I can definitely see him pulling it off. To infinity and beyond! The other movie is Turning Red which is about a girl named Mei who transforms into a giant red panda whenever she gets excited and releases March 11, 2022. Sounds fun and it's always good to see more original Pixar films. Also, it looks like the hybrid live action Rescue Rangers movie is finally getting out of development hell and coming to Disney+ in Spring 2022! And speaking of Disney+, Raya and the Last Dragon will be coming there the same day as its theatrical release for premium access like Mulan did. It's surprising to see them sticking to this model after Mulan failed so hard and WB announced that all of their movies next year will be available on HBO Max at no extra cost. I'll probably wait until it's free, although the trailer does look interesting.

Really? Where did you hear that? That would be an odd decision, but I wouldn't mind it since, as I said before, while it has grown on me, I wasn't a huge fan of the DuckTales version initially. And yeah, it's sad to see DuckTales go already, but I'm just glad that we got what we got and that it was as good as it was. I'm not too surprised to be honest as I've been getting the feeling that the show was winding down for a while now with not many arcs left to be resolved, and Disney seems to love killing off their shows after only a couple of seasons. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the finale! On another note, I've been watching Hilda on Netflix and it's an enjoyable show. It's not as exciting, mysterious, or funny as Gravity Falls and seems to be aimed at a younger audience, but it has a certain charm to it. I didn't think that I would like it since it has that laid-back tone that a lot of cartoons have nowadays and it is set in a world where magical creatures like trolls and elves are pretty common, making it feel less exciting when the characters come across them, but after watching a few episodes, you can see what the creators are doing. It's a nice metaphor for cultural relativism, the idea that something that is completely normal to you can be strange, exciting, or scary to others and vice versa. A good message for children, especially ones who move to a new place. Also, the fact that everyone talks with British accents and the show seems to be taking place around the 80's with the kids frequently going to the library instead of the internet makes it feel like a classic children's story. I also like that since all the magical stuff is relatively normal, the main character doesn't usually keep secrets from her mother which is rare in shows like this. So if you're looking for a feel-good show with some fantasy elements, I'd say check it out.

The "[button] is [pressed]" block is one of the options under the remote control blocks, so I don't think it relates to the physical buttons. I've tried other controls like the joystick, but nothing produces a sound. As I understand it, only beeps and the sounds under "Sounds on Hub" are played through the Hub. Everything else is through your device. When I put the "play sound" or "note" blocks under "when program starts" block, it does play it through my phone. It's possible that it's because I'm not connected to a hub since I don't actually have the set which is why I wanted to see if it worked for anyone else. I'm just playing around with the app to get a better understanding of the new software for the contest you mentioned.

Does anyone know if it's possible to trigger sounds/music using the remote controls in the new Mindstorms app? I tried placing a "play sound" or "play note" block under the "when button is pressed" block and nothing happens. Also, is there any way to remove any added extensions from the blocks library or remove sounds from the list that you added to the canvas? I'm using the app on an iPhone 11.

Yes, it sure was a lot of fun to build - to research the layout of modern day hospital ships and the details in each room and come up with my own version with a sci-fi twist on it. It was a bit stressful trying to get most of it done in just a month, but it was a nice challenge. And yeah, I figured we've all seen enough death and violence lately and could use a more peaceful, optimistic, and health-focused SHIP. Haha, nah, that would be Joshua Dinklage's insane entry.
