  1. @Michael Veroukis Happy to hear that you were able to fix it without completely disassembling it! Happy new year to all of you!
  2. The word mothership takes on a whole new meaning as soon as the little Galileo ferry on tracks sails out the back. Really impressive! I assume the majority of the parts come from 42100?
  3. Damn that's super smart! A) the implementation is simple and sweet. B) having this idea in first place is super clever! My MOC will get a modern contactless steering a.k.a. no steering inputs at all^^ ...despite the HOG of course
  4. Here is a link to the instruction in case someone wants to dive into the problem. https://www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/product.bi.core.pdf/6493802.pdf I'll give it a try: How good are your fine motor skills? You have the black gear wheels on the left and right in front of the wings and behind the cockpit that retract the landing gear. In step 60, a long grey 9L axle is pushed in and you put these black gear wheels on it. ...I would remove the cover (the roof?) above. Then pull out this axle (not completely please!) and let the light tan gear wheel fall out. Then position everything as desired and shake the gear wheel back into place. Put the axle back in and you're done. Note: With this approach, you can first finish building and then see at the end whether you want/need to do this. Maybe it will correct itself! Does anyone have a better solution?
  5. The engine configuration is an eye catcher! I wonder what the gears left and right of the differential are for? But the most important: Has unicorn exploded on your table? Very colorful!
  6. Good point! That might be true! It's also a bit more entertaining for the jury to see different approaches, i guess.
  7. It looks like the weight to power and weight ratio is perfectly balanced. This driving looks pretty controllable. But damn would that be an expensive project for "us normal people". 2 Buwizz and 4 Motors + Steering, Uff!! Thank you for the video! Great locations you've chosen! And i see you had some visitors.
  8. The past has shown that whenever TLG is doing badly, the sets get better! And in general TLG is still trying to show off. The "Icons" Land Rover, for example, even has suspension and really good steering. Maybe there will be another big set at some point. I think a 1000-piece set like the London Bus has a better chance than an 1800-pieces truck. But as far as developing MOCs goes, a big MOC like that, and in great colors, would be a dream! So there are very good reasons for and against my theory. CON: - TLG brings Eastereggs, that's not unusual - thematic repetitions are normal ( a truck every 2 to 3 years) PRO: - Things that work well TLG brings again and again, even in different sizes (Claas Xerion and Mini Xerion) - At the moment, Lego's business figures are not looking so good. ...maybe the past year, which was rather average for Lego, means that the sets are getting better again!
  9. I'm also throwing my hat into the ring. But before we get to the MOC, I'd like to start with a few thoughts! The designs and MOCs I've seen so far are once again first class! My greatest respect goes especially to the MOCs that contain super complex mechanisms and electronics! Many thanks to Jim and Milan for this exciting contest. The rules are cleverly worked out! The choice of color scheme is very exciting and makes this contest (at least for me) a real challenge! I had to think long and hard about how to approach the given rules. I realized that I've been a bit, well, one-sided in my choice of colours over the last few years. I'm super reluctant to buy white sets as this color turns to light tan incredibly quickly. And although there are a lot of orange/black sets out there, my pieces portfolio of this color combination barely fills a hand. My choice of MOC: The first thing I wanted to build was a Walker MOC. I had already started to build the MOC in my head. And unfortunately had to admit that I couldn't manage the color combination with my few pieces. My second idea was a kind of contest parody. A polar bear was to pull a broken-down expedition vehicle. The electronics and a motor should be in the car and two or three more in the polar bear. However, I found the idea a little too silly. Idea number three is a tracked vehicle, without electronics and tiny, but packed with small functions. Nothing special at first. But I only use parts from the four small Technic sets: - 42116 Skid Steer Loader (white and red pieces and gears) - 42117 Race Plane (white pieces and propeller) - 42133 Telehandler (white pieces and wheels) - 42148 Snow Groomer (tracks and red peices) This makes a comfortable 600 pieces - approx. But the question is: are the white pieces enough to produce a MOC that is big enough and offers functions so that it can compete against the big MOCs and also looks cute and fits the given color scheme? I will continue to expand this text. But first some photos of my building table. I simply tipped the four sets onto the table and collected the parts I don't want to use (shovel, green and blue parts). The vehicle will have articulated steering and, if possible, the rear axle will also be steerable. The driver's door slides open and the passenger door rotates open. Simply turn the headlight on top. The build is Minifig-scale, btw. The sleeping bay will fold out, There will be a communication system, wind turbine, maybe a little crane with some object to elevate. ...stay tuned :D Edit 14.12.2023: A first render pic Update 02.01.2024: Lesson learned! The build is too large! I also changed the title from "[TC26] Tracked Vehicle on Rescue Mission" to "[TC26] Expedition Camper on Tracks'n'Wheels" And I'm not sure if this build will be finished in time! Cheers Marco
  10. With pleasure @XTN From an appearance and rideability standpoint, I would also go with the Mud Masher tires. But since I want to build a bunch of MOCs for the offroader, I'm super happy that TLG is gifting us with street tires. And i like the bionicle tail lights too!
  11. That is a very good point! ,,,this not I certainly don't want to open up this debate with my contribution and will adapt my title so that it is about the spirit of Model Team. And only in relation to this set. My point is that TLG often offers different versions in different sizes of the same "object". ...If the Technic bulldozer sells well, there will almost certainly be a larger version after a while. And when that is done, there will be a mini version. And a system version, of course. And that's totally okay! If we assume that this is how TLG works, doesn't that give us customers an opportunity? a) to vote with our wallets or b) to let TLG know by e-mail or forum thread that the number of parts should be quadrupled? I bet a few people from Billund visit here occasionally! ...That's what I was getting at^^ Thank you for your constructive feedback. Which, by the way, brought me to another point that I'll add later. I don't have time to write in more detail right now. Have a nice start into the week!
  12. Just as I'm looking at TLG's new sets for 2024, didn't I actually stumble across a "Mini Model Team Truck with Heli"? 5590 sends its regards! Some of you will get flashbacks right away. And yes, it's too small for Model Team, but it's no coincidence that TLG is clearly referring to an old set here?! What do you think, is this TLG's careful attempt to bring Model Team back? 31146 "Flatbed Truck with Helicopter" 270 pieces, 19,99USD/EUR, 17,99 GBP, Release: 2024-01 P.S.: Ideas are starting to pop up: How about a "scale down and model-teamify" contest, for example? In which, as the name suggests, we not only scale down, but also build Model Team versions from old Technic sets. What do you think? Should we buy this set, to show TLG that there is a market for those sets? I'm super interested to hear your opinions!
  13. Here's an instruction stub made from @R0Sch's studio-File. It is not a complete instruction! Of course!!! I hope it is okay for you R0Sch? https://bricksafe.com/files/wop/studdstuff/42164_improved.pdf
  14. You both are wrong! with this yellow and red color scheme, this is clearly a heavy duty DHL parcel mover! Easily recognizable by the missing hook at the rear end! You don't need this for parcel moving right? If wonder why you've never seen one, that's bcause they are only used within the sorting facilities! If parcels look a bit chewed, that's the reason! ...sorry couldn't resist
  15. Heyhey, that lifting mechanism for the towing arm is a 10 out of 10! Great MOC!!!
  16. PRO: The underbody is really sleek! Nice!!! The the whole car looks super clean and cohesive. CON: The bionicle wings never work for me. They look too complex compared to the smooth technic panels. But that's really just a minor thing. You utilize them in a super smart way! (When) Do we get a video? After the snow season is over maybe?
  17. awww that sounds hearth warming! When I was a kid I came in touch with this control mechanism with a car that came with an "Überraschungs-Ei" (Surprise-Egg?). And last year the tractor of the set 60344 retriggered my inner child. It uses parts 69963 and 69964 to form this steering. Thank you for your hint, I apologize if i sounded too negative! I am quite happy with this set. And the name is very not important to me. But I can also empathize with Howitzer's thoughts. ...Why doesn't TLG name the set simply "Street-Buggy"? Best wishes :)
  18. Hehe, thanks. :) Oh, how are you able to remember this set? I would have forgotten years ago. Did i mention, that my MOC has a working steering wheel and the role cage can be folded up. Luckily they did this weird tires! I was afraid TLG would recycle the tires from the pullback monster trucks. And what also speaks against offroad capabilities is the supposed tilt steering as it leads to heavy suspension steer when driving offroad.
  19. Damn, i only knew the Telehandler 42133. The mechanism there is a lot more sophisticated.
  20. @Jundis Are you planning to do an instruction? I'm eager to build it. Oh and as you use PU with the longer L-Motors, does that mean the shorter PF-Motors are compatible with your Mud-Queen?
  21. Nice Set. I like it! Good parts and also a shock absorber. Fun Fact, i made a few tilt steering cars from small Technic sets recently. My best is this one, for 42116 reb.li/m/161017 I claim that TLG copied from me! (kidding of course!)
  22. I'm shocked how bare bone it looks. Am i right, that the worm gear drives an 8(?)T gear. So all the weight of that shovel apparatus has to be lifted by a single gear, completely unsupported?
  23. ...and most of them look super creepy. Thanks for the hint on this funny chapter of Legos history. In knew they exist but i thought they where much smaller.
  24. My inner child is very, very sad right now that such great things like a motorized expedition vehicle didn't exist when I was a kid. :o) Very well done, i like it!
  25. I sometimes think/wonder if it would be a good idea to have 1:8 scaled (Technic-)brick-build-minifigs as sets. Like the Marvel/DC ones just with F1/Rally Drivers, f.e.?! And sell these next to 1:8 scaled Formula1 or Rally cars?! Like the Minifigs that come with the Speed Champions. I would expect 1:10 scale to work too - smaller would look too weird! The original Technic Minifigs are more 1:16 scaled - I guess? And yes i loved them as a child and like them even today! We need them back! And these figures would need different skin tones and women versions of course!
