  1. I like it, I just thought it looked slightly off for Legolas, but couldn’t put my finger on what it was. Overall I think it’s a better piece than the old standard one. Just thinking, building that roof and getting all those 1x1 tiles lined up on a 45 degree angle is probably going to be a real pain. Also it looks like Lego is using an “illegal” technique of putting the plates in between studs for the mushrooms on the trees.
  2. I think the reason the hair looks so weird on Legolas is that it isn’t all tucked behind his ears. Unfortunately I don’t have any of the old style blonde hair to replace it with.
  3. The brick built legs for sitting is cool for the hobbits, although I’m not sure why they didn’t just give Gandalf and Elrond normal legs instead of bricks.
  4. I love the use of bricks to replace Frodo’s legs so he can actually sit down on the bed.
  5. This is just surreal. The set is absolutely beautiful. I can’t believe Lego LOTR is back.
  6. It looks almost the exact same, the leak definitely wasn’t fake. If they changed anything all they did was change a few brick colours or building techniques, that’s it. But that also might just be down to the distortion and colour filters on the CGI model.
  7. I think it’s mostly just a different angle and the background that’s making it look different. (Along with the distortion) The bridge is definitely still there, it’s just blurry and distorted. And like people have said, it’s a computer model, so the reflection might be a little weird. Maybe they fine-tuned a few things, but it definitely looks extremely similar if not the same as the leaked image.
  8. Having a “complete collection” can be whatever you define it to be. If you’re talking about the technical definition of owning every Lord of the Rings set, then the Brickheadz are included, but I’m sure there’s a lot of people who want to collect every LOTR play set. I personally don’t care about having a complete collection, since for one that’s completely unrealistic, and two I don’t care to own figs/sets that look bad or aged, nor do I care about owning duplicates or owning any non-play scale sets. Plus since I can’t afford every set, I have to pick and choose which sets I like more.
  9. I agree, although for characters with a ponytail coming out of the back of their head there’s not much they can do there, since it can’t attach to anything. Why not? The minifig pool thins down quite a bit if you only include characters that were on the Khetanna, and it would be pretty weird to have a giant Sail Barge D2C that doesn’t include Han, Chewbacca, or Lando. Maybe they include one skiff with the set and another separately? That also removes the inconvenience of ending up with two sarlacc pits.
  10. What could that possibly mean? All Original Trilogy? I really hope it’s not a bunch of 18+ sets. Or maybe we’re finally seeing the return of Sequel Trilogy sets, which I would absolutely adore.
  11. I agree I’d absolutely love to have a lot of the Jabba’s Palace figures, but I don’t think they’d be cutting into that pool when they already have more than enough figs that appear in the scene they’re basing the set on. I definitely think Nikto and Weequays should not have moulded heads. Because they’re barely different from humans, and if you have small moulded heads for every character with a slightly different chin or forehead then it stops feeling like the figures are in the same style as the human figures are. (You can make a bit more of an argument for Klatooinians because of their head ridges, but I still think their heads are small enough that it’s really unnecessary) And if you make them have moulded heads that means they can’t wear hats or helmets, which causes issue for nearly every character of those species you’d be trying to represent in Lego. Plus a lot of Weequays and Niktos have different looking faces that wouldn’t be well represented by a single mould. (See Hondo vs. Taanti or Neeku vs. Ima-Gun Di)
  12. I mean we’re just speculating on what could be in a rumoured set. It’s not any different than 90% of this thread. I mean the prototype is really rough, and since they don’t have a finished set, I’m assuming the piece count is just an estimate. So it could have way fewer pieces once the set is perfected and finalized. And who knows, maybe the entire set will be covered in 1x1 tiles?
  13. I mean there just aren’t that many new species that haven’t been made in Lego on the barge. There’s J’Quille and Saelt-Marae, and the only other ones you could possibly have is the unnamed Ishi Tib, and maybe Mosep Binneed or Geezum, although they could probably be made with normal minifig heads like Kabe was. And I guess you could do one for Tanus Spijek, who was apparently there according to reference photos, but I’m not sure if you can even see him on the barge in the movie. But those other characters are so obscure I doubt they’d be included in the set at all. Since we already have moulds for Bib Fortuna (Twi’lek), Jabba (Hutt), Salacious Crumb (Kowakian Monkey Lizard), Tessek (Quarren), Ree-Yees (Gran), Max Rebo (Ortolan), Chewbacca (Wookiee), Bossk (Trandoshan), Yoxgit (Ugnaught), and Gamorreans. And all of the Humans, Nikto, Weequays, Klatoonians, Jawas, and the single Skrilling can all use normal minifig heads. Although they could always update old moulds if they wanted to. Yeah, I really hope they don’t reuse the BOBF one. The most minifigs we’ve got in a Star Wars set is 25 for the Death Star (27 if you count the mouse droid and the torture droid) So my ideal/expected minifig lineup would be: 1. Jabba 2. Leia 3. Luke 4. Han 5. Chewbacca 6. C-3PO 7. R2-D2 8. Lando 9. Boba Fett 10. Bib Fortuna 11. Max Rebo 12. Salacious Crumb 13. Bossk 14. Ree-Yees 15. Tessek 16. Kithaba (Klatooinian) 17. Barada (Klatooinian) 18. Pagetti Rook (Weequay) 19. Rintel Aren (Weequay) 20. Pote Snitkin (Skrilling) 21. Vizam (Brown Nikto) 22. Klaatu (Green Nikto) 23. J’Quille 24. Saelt-Marae 25. Bartender Astromech Droid Included the species names for the guards since they tend to blend together. If I had to guess what Lego was going to do, they’d probably take out a couple of Skiff Guards like Pote Snitkin and one of the Weequays or Klatooinians and add a couple Gamorreans and/or Jawas. And maybe they include Yoxgit or one of the Human guards. I’d love to get an Ishi Tib, Geezum, or Mosep Binneed, but I don’t think that’s very realistic.
  14. Since I’m at University I’m not going to be able to build it for a few years anyways, so I’m in the same boat. I’ll get it whenever is the best deal.
  15. Thinking about moulds for a potential Sail Barge, the only ones that are really needed would be new heads for J’Quille and Saelt-Marae, so certainly not too much for a large UCS set. They’d also need to bring back a few moulds that have been out of production for close to a decade: Bib Fortuna’s Lekku, Leia’s hair, Lando’s helmet, Jabba, Max Rebo’s head, Ree-Yees’ head, and Salacious Crumb.
  16. I don’t think so. It looks like all the Rivendell elves have hair coming down the front of their torso, while it doesn’t look like Zelda has any hair at the front.
  17. Was the Yavin base an actual rumour way back when? I was under the impression that it was a conceptual set that was shown off years later in a Lego book as an example of a set that never made it to production.
  18. I mean the figs are mostly just made out because of context clues, knowing the character costumes and where they would be in the scene. The blurry watermarked one is still the only photo, but we’ll get HD images at some point in the next month.
  19. If we assume that the story is correct, these are probably prototypes that I would guess will end up releasing next year at the earliest. (If Lego decides to make them into sets) Since a lot of the sets are far from finished, with the Sail Barge looking basic and missing the back fins, the medieval set having a blue unprinted goat, and the Burrow having blank white minifigures. If they made it minifig scale they’d be crazy not to include an interior. The Force Ghost one was stupid and poorly thought out. These look so real, that if they’re fake I’ll eat my shoe. The Lego style is captured so well, and with the amount of sets and all of the glaring things saying unfinished/in-development, this would be an insanely time-intensive trick to try to pull off for nothing in return. But obviously since these sets are rough and so far out, it’s possible that some of them don’t end up making it to production because Lego decides not to release it for whatever reason.
  20. I’m sure the final build will be more complex adding to the piece count, plus if they include the skiffs and the Sarlacc that would eat into the piece count.
  21. Now that you say that, yeah it isn’t that far off. I think it’s the rough build, the watermark, and the blurriness that make it seem smaller than it actually is. Plus this is obviously a very rough model. And obviously if/when we get the set I hope we get lots of figures, as well as the skiffs and sarlacc pit. I’m back on the hype train now. Gotta save up for 2024.
  22. That’s the highest quality one we have right now. Yeah, I realize that now. A lot of these sets are definitely need a lot of work, so they’ll probably be a while before they release.
  23. This model is really rough. There’s no way it’s releasing this year. Same with some other sets that leaked around the same time. Judging by this, Lego still needs to design an entire set, which takes a while. Like other people have said, there’s a decent chance the Max Rebo mould is being used for another separate Ortolan.
  24. Actually it’s missing the back fins, so this is definitely a really rough design. The scale still puts me a little bit on edge, but I’m now more cautiously optimistic.
  25. I feel like it’s a waste to spend time designing a UCS Sail Barge of this size, but who knows. I wasn’t expecting a finished set, but if they wanted to change it to minifig scale the entire structure of the set would be completely different.
