Flower of the Lotus - Mini Challenge - RESULTS POSTED
Jeff of Clubs replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm stoked for it too! Background for the Lotus empire and Carno can be found in the link at the very top (Farstrider's Guide), additionally the current KPA has the situation on El Oleonda and this topic from a previous challenge deals with the events leading up to this war, in fact, weren't you in that one? -

[OL - FB] A Mostly Warm Reception
Jeff of Clubs replied to Jeff of Clubs's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you! I'll post a better cropped one in an edit. I should move on to photoshop but I don't do tech very well, I've found it to be very counterintuitive. I only just started flickr and am still trying to figure out albums. One at a time I suppose. Thank you! Thanks! I'm glad it hit the mark, so to speak. Thank you! Wanted to step into a more sane narrative for a MOC.- 12 replies

[OL FB] Foreign Legion Outpost, New Oleon
Jeff of Clubs replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yum! Yes please! So many pieces and it isn't too busy either. The base really brings it home. A fine piece, we'd be fools not to accept it. -
[OL - FB] A Mostly Warm Reception
Jeff of Clubs replied to Jeff of Clubs's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks! Undoubtedly, the corries started it. No, the whole thing was meant from a corry perspective via a diary. So some nameless grandpa over the hills and far away. Perhaps the lieutenant wanted the rum!- 12 replies

[COR - FB] Fortifications at Neustadt
Jeff of Clubs replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A fine palisade. I really like your cannons and the contrast with the undergrowth on the base. What are the chains meant to represent? -
"Jan 15th, 622AE; Our arrival at the bluecoat hub of Fort Arltrees recieved a warmer reception than any of our men dared hope for. During the journey, rumors abounded as to the loyalties of our hithertofore enemies within the enlisted ranks. Fears of marching out to do battle with the Lotii, only to find our traditional enemies in our rear, were serious concerns right up until the day we landed. As our battalion moved through the city to our bivouacs, we encounted one of the largest markets I have ever seen and a crowd of smiling locals filled the streets to greet us. Some even trying to foist bottles of wine and loaves of fresh bread upon us as we marched. The lieutenant politely declined these advances and became cross with a couple men who had accepted a kask of rum from a local suttler." "With only a few exceptions, our welcome to Fort Arltrees was a warm affair." "I must make a note to visit that market while we are still here. I have no doubt there could be something perfect for everyone in the family. Even grandpa!" -Excerpt from the journal of Willian 'Bill' Morley, Private, Corrington's 26th Regiment of Foot Thanks! As always, C and C welcome and if there is a lore issue, I'll edit accordingly. To be licensed as a small residence in Fort Arltrees. This is an attempt to duplicate some of the building styles I've seen in the lovely MOCs you all have posted lately. A special thanks to Ayrlego and Evancelt for their excellent tutorials on base building.

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Jeff of Clubs replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Congrats on that dapper warbeast you've made! And your first ship. A lot of effort clearly went into this! Glad she's on our side. -
Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Jeff of Clubs replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Loving the battlements on that tower. I am really liking this and am trilled to see some desert builds. Only a fool wouldn't accept just a gorgeous donation. If you end up donating it, I'll reciprocate that gesture in a few month's time! Marshal Dequesne insists that it is filled with Corries bent on sabotage and that we should set fire to it... -
Very nice. I like the Al Hakim character. They look like a rowdy band of land-pirates!

I'm gonna have to go get some domes if you keep doing this to us! Nice use of some very loud colors. I'd be smiling too if I could retire to such a house.

[SR-FB] Hilto, Pasha's house of the red petals
Jeff of Clubs replied to omnihash_cz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Gasps. Look at those cherry trees! Such great detailing and color choices. That pantile roof color is really working well. A fine structure for the committing of sea rat stuff. -
That seawall is really something. The whole scene pops from it. Lots of fun details and all the structures are top notch! A lot of personality in this moc.

[SR - MRCA Result 2] Trade Exchange
Jeff of Clubs replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The birds! I had to take a few minutes to laugh before I could continue. The ol drunkard rochamboise! Hilarious. This is what the sea rats are about! The build is excellent, especially the cart and (snickers) draft-birds. -

[COR FB] Campaign Planning, Port Woodhouse
Jeff of Clubs replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh my. What a lusty structure! I love this style of this building. BoBs needs more of em. Excellent repurposing of another moc. I am smitten by those trees and the pan-tile roof! The hedge in the for is an excellent touch. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Jeff of Clubs replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Kwatchi I'd imagine the GMs will take the size of player forces and match, or even exceed, that contribution. The lotii are mighty. The numbers may be daunting but it's not as though the Lotus empire has fixed army numbers. They can be as large or diminutive as the GMs deem nessicary for a hearty fight. As to participating in a NPC vs NPC altercation, I'm sure if you put the effort into a good story arch and support it with mocs, the GMs will reward those efforts. As a wise person once told me, 'mocs equal effort. Effort is rewarded.' -
@Ayrlego I'm down for that but I do feel we lose some flavor and flexibility in play. I totally understand that the GMs have plenty else to deal with but perhaps the players can assume more responsibility for tracking all forces they themselves pay upkeep on. Think, a 'Chief of Staff" topic, linked in the index(not pinned). Within this topic, players create a reply that will be updated(edited) by the player upon first purchasing a private force with a link to all the applicable mocs at all times going forward. The player is responsible for updating information such as quantity, quality/unit type, total upkeep cost and critically, disposition. At the top, in the main topic itself, a faction chief-of-staff tallies separate totals for both faction upkeep troops and private upkeep troops to the same specifications listed above in separate bulletins. Providing the grand totals and locations of all ground forces loyal to the faction, for rapid, at-will GM reading. Be a little busy and hectic topic to begin with though. I mean, if we can rutinely update the settlements pages with our properties as we post them, surely this is a cake-walk in the park? Just a thought though and thanks for all you do! I'm a wargamer by habit for over 20yrs now. I have encountered nearly a hundred various rule systems dictating combat for scales that run from a skirmish between foraging parties to whole army groups clobbering each other. I have waaay too much time on my hands these days and could post a concept topic to show the aforementioned concept and how truely accessible the information can be.

[COR-FB] a long forgotten ambush
Jeff of Clubs replied to MetallFanYT's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh very fun! Excellent grass work and basing too! I think Corries jumped Oleon? They are forming lines while Oleon is still in march column. Soldiers of Oleon are gentlemen-soldiers. We give fair warning when we are about to ambuscade. -
Woo hoo! Another gorgeous ship from you! I love staring at the brick-built beauties you turn out.

Excellent lore updates to the Farstrider Guide. It is an excellent read with an involved and very snappy presentation. Thanks for all of your effort everybody. I'm reading it all day. -
[COR-FB] A Game of Fetch, Altonia
Jeff of Clubs replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The whole scene is a triumph of complimentary colors! Your detailing down to the dirt and little grass sprigs poking out of the snow remain inspirational and that saddle looks like it affords more minifig posing options than the standard fair, so that's a big plus too!
