  1. I play a moderate amount of video games, and work on table top gaming mechanics for a system I developed a decade ago. Twice a year, a group gets together and does a 1-shot dungeon-crawl that I GM (one member even travels across the continent for it, which is both awesome and awkward to me). My main hobby (even moreso than LEGO, really) is character design, though. So much so that I was, at one point in my youth, pursuing it professionally. When I realized I didn't have the right temperament or competitive streak to do it for a living, I stopped, and didn't do anything art-related for fifteen years. About three years ago I started doodling again, and now I spend about an hour (at least) a day in front of a sketchpad.
  2. I'd have gone with the new-ish Episode 4 Luke Skywalker hair.
  3. Gonna go with a resounding "Nope". Number one toy manufacturer in the world, sales through the roof, critically-acclaimed movie drawing in new fans, and on and on. Of course, we AFOLs are starting to see business trends and set similarities that kids don't look for, and I think it's making some of us disillusioned and bitter. Plus, the internet allowing instantaneous world-wide communication has allowed the community to put the company's differing regional practices under the microscope, allowing for a lot of grumbling from fans not getting what is readily available elsewhere in the world. People think it's "dying" or "circling the drain" or "sucks now" because it isn't what they want it to be. Maybe they liked what the company was doing before, maybe they liked a certain product line, maybe they liked less-specific pieces. It usually comes down to a complaint of "X changed, and now the whole company sucks". And that's fine. People are allowed to not like things! It is very easy to feel betrayed by a company one has grown up with because they changed something that the fan considered integral to their brand/product identity. But if you're one of the ones who are angry, maybe don't condemn the factions of the fandom who don't share your ire.
  4. Anytime someone posts this, I have to respond with .
  5. I think the dystopian element will be from Finn and his dad (and probably little sister) rebuilding Bricksburg in Finn's more "wacky" style (as seen in the alternate builds for the 2-in-1 sets), and then Finn hitting his Dark Age and forgetting about it. Emmet's sister will probably be Finn's sister's favorite character, just as Emmet was Finn's.
  6. I was going to get Wonderful 101, but I don't have enough space on the built-in drive, and I'm not really keen on getting an external HD yet. I've got a bit, I'll figure something out.
  7. Watched the turntable video again because I wasn't paying much attention the first time. Just realized the slimer-ghosts look like they could fit over someone's head a-la the Alien Conquest minialiens.
  8. Go on, then! What else is there?
  9. iamamiwhoami - Blue (album)
  10. Pre-ordered Shulk a whiiiiiile back. Got charged for him yesterday. Haven't gotten any kind of confirmation e-mail, but I'm excited all the same. I preordered him because it's Shulk, not because of the functionality. Although I suppose I can see what he does with Hyrule Warriors.
  11. Is the NRG2 orange one Cole? I can never tell based on symbology alone.
  12. Good points all around. I retract my statement.
  13. Bleeding Gums Murphy, Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz, Maude Flanders, and maaaaaybe Dr. Nick Rivera. 'cause they're dead.
  14. Placed an order on Bricklink last week, never got an invoice. Sent the seller a message a couple days later, and he said "Please be patient, I'm processing your order". Never heard back. Seller got 2 pieces of feedback in the time since the order was placed, one positive from a satisfied customer, and one negative from someone who never got an invoice either. The negative was removed since the sale technically never happened. I'm not out any money or anything, so this is more of a LEGO annoyance story. As far as I remember, this is the only problem I've ever had, but there's some neutral and negative feedback from around the time of my accident that indicates I may have caused some problems before!
  15. Might have something to do with LEGO's recent rise in popularity bringing in a truckload of new customers who didn't know about or weren't collecting the CMFs for the past 5 years, and saying, "Man, that Zombie figure sure looks neat, but I only ever see him on eBay for $100". Keep in mind that for all your complaining about rehashes and variants of what we've already seen, there are people out there who just found out about this stuff. Maybe last February, or in June. So maybe LEGO is just trying to make it more accessible to new collectors without just blatantly re-releasing old waves. If you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em! I've been saying that the whole time. Every wave, we get someone who just hates the new series (for the record, that was me back in Series 5, but I didn't say a lot about it). And they always say "That's it, the line is sunk because LEGO screwed it up and I don't like it now!" and then a couple months later we're all looking at a new set of leaks. Sorry you don't like them.
  16. Use the toothy maw head from the Atlantis Hammerhead Shark-Man?
  17. I don't follow the story, but isn't Lloyd supposed to be super-powerful? Then they'd have to find some new way to neutralize him every storyline, or it's just like "Why doesn't Lloyd just GOLDEN POWER it away?".
  18. Ninjago should just start having one of the main cast members get captured every wave.
  19. I just want to say that I agree with everything you said here (except the part about which 'figs you want).
  20. So, Zane's just gonna be blue/silver all the time now? I guess that makes sense.
  21. Thanks! I momentarily forgot that Travis Bricks existed, I think.
