  1. I keep waiting for the 3 final sets to show up at Wal-Marts in the midwest so I can offload some of these giftcards I have stacked up, but so far, no dice.
  2. They're just re-using the engine from LEGO Indiana Jones where the women were given the Jump ability to make up for the fact that there were no Jedi (who had Double-Jump). Willie was the only one who had a scream, though. Eventually, the "Women Jump High" became a staple of the game engine.
  3. I made the distinction because both of those groups have better resources concerning release dates and avenues of securing merchandise that casual fans or disinterested (in the hobby) parents. That's all.
  4. Wow. Way to take it wrong! I'm not saying AFOLs are as bad as scalpers. But I am saying scalpers know what'll be hot and definitely would take advantage of preorders to squeeze folks who didn't know that preorders were happening/when they started/etc. I don't think limiting preorders would stop the more industrious ones, either.
  5. I am bad at LEGO pictures. I have a (smallish) lightbox, I'v read the tutorials, I've done a lot of practice shots... Nope. That's why I don't post MOCs. And I've even done some actual paid non-portrait photography work outside of the hobby, but I can't get it right when it comes to the lil' plastic brickstacks.
  6. This is awesome.
  7. I usually have this same problem with lack of confirmation eMails.Glad you're getting your battery box, though!
  8. What about the wings from the Beetle from Spider-Man? Too square?
  9. I think that would cause some pretty serious issues for them. Call centers flooded with upset customers who didn't know about the change in policy, parents wondering why they can't get X item for their children after the first run is all pre-ordered by AFOLs and scalpers, inter-departmental miscommunication over stock allotments. Besides, most of the really huge stuff is offered to VIP members early, and most of the general release theme sets get their street dates broken by a few days (or weeks, or a month), so I'm not sure what good it would do to pre-sale sets, except to delay their general release further. GWPs are usually polybags or minibuilds and generally pretty abundant in the early stages of promotion, so I'm not sure what limiting them to pre-sale customers would accomplish outside of alienating people who don't know what steps need to be taken to get them (which, yes, I'm aware happens now already).
  10. Not to sound too pessimistic, but don't get too excited until it says "Shipped" or "Completed". My 8878 was "In Warehouse" 4 times. Each time it would stay a week, then revert to "Backordered" or "In Progress".On the other hand, I got an eMail today that it's finally shipped, so maybe I'm just being grumpy?
  11. Got my Xenoblade date, and the Chibi Robo date for my boy. I'm pretty sure I don't care about anything else announced at E3, including other presentation stuff.
  12. That guy sure did seem to have a little bit of trouble assembling the figure. Snapping in the arms and hip joint seems like a good way to accidentally break a piece.
  13. To all you USA kids waiting on your battery: I'm not sure how accurate or public this information is supposed to be, as it was told to me by a Customer Service rep after a solid week of calls. All of the battery boxes (rechargeable and AAA) are backordered. But when the warehouse gets them in, the merchandising department lists them on the website as available for order. This means that every time they get battery boxes in to fill backorders, more people order them, putting those people in the back of the backorder queue. There's a communication problem between the 3 departments. I ordered mine in April, and I'm still at least a month away from getting it.
  14. I picked up 70728 for half off yesterday. Not as impressive as some of the other deals in this thread, but I'll take what I can get.
  15. I just realized I haven't made an order for a while, and may need to rectify that soooooon.
  16. I just want to take a minute and tell everyone how great LEGO's call-center customer service reps are. Very courteous, professional, communicative people. And I am tired of talking to them once a day for the past week. Also: Hate that hold music now. But the people are great!
  17. Xenoblade Chronicles X release date!
  18. After a week of being listed as "In Warehouse", today my order status was finally updated... to "Partial Shipped/Partial Backordered". I also received an eMail detailing how some of the items from my recent order were out of stock and would be delayed significantly. The new expected availability date on the website is June 2nd, which I completely expect to slip back at least twice. It's so frustrating! They had it! The customer service guy said it would ship, and now it's gone, and they don't carry them at LEGO stores here in the states I've been told. Argh.
  19. Google says the body of the car is from a '42 Dodge W Series. EDIT: Looks like the roof's been chopped and lowered, as well as the gargantuan mega-tires and suspension.
  20. Yeah. I ordered the rechargeable battery in April, and it's been sitting in the warehouse for a week.
  21. They are discussing the viability of two-colored plastic legs, since Series 14 is rumored to contain a set, and using the picture as evidence that they are indeed already a reality since Spider-Man has them.
