Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
iragm replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Indeed, don't lie. Contact their support via chat and ask -- very nicely -- if there's any way you can purchase an extra sticker sheet for that set. You may have to mention that you haven't been able to find one at a reasonable price on bricklink. They will often, depending on the person you get, send you one or two for free. Don't abuse the service. I haven't done this in a long time, but it worked in the 90s when I was a child and wanted some out of production pieces, and I've heard of others doing it more recently (specifically I saw someone get the castle in the forest sticker sheet for free). Again, don't abuse the service or it will go away. -
This is an extremely impressive build. Your use of color is excellent, whether it's the yellow surrounded by white near the window, or the yellow curves highlighting the tower and drawing my eye around the scene. I like the use of lighter colors higher up and darker colors lower (you made me look up whether the bush base 6065 exists in dark green, and sadly it does not). The dark gray>light gray>dark tan>green in the jungle section looks pretty good, although honestly the jungle is the weakest part of the build -- not that it's bad, it's just been done quite often. Dark brown at the base of the palm trees doesn't really work for me, I would use reddish brown at the base and top. Although, it might look better in a physical build than in a render. The use of curves is better than anything I think I've seen, I especially like the curved half-height wall that slopes down away from the tower and and curves around, (around the black-gloved figure) -- it's so clean and smooth, and contrasts perfectly against the "wild" jungle next to it. It kind of echos the smooth curved railings on the barracuda bay ship (in a good way). The proportions of the build are excellent, they seem to follow the rule of thirds very well. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but it's great. Very nice work with the dock, I really like that it extends into nothing without a plate under it, it breaks up the scene very nicely. The awning looks great, too. This is one of my favorite pirate builds, I would put it on par with SleeplessNight's builds "Lagoon Lockup Revisited" and "Sabre Island AD 2021" on rebrickable. Definitely supported, and I hope you'll make the io file available so I can take a crack at building this. Edit: if you haven't already, post this to reddit so more people see and support it.

It's insane to me that you guys are buying these brickheadz to try to get more LOTR. You want more LOTR? Write a snail mail letter to Lego that says you want a minifig scale Rivendell (or whatever you want) and that you're disappointed with the brickheadz. Companies listen to that far more than tweeting (which is mostly noise) or posting on a forum like this (which they won't see at all). A letter will also cost you a lot less then a brickhead. As @MAB said above, buying the brickheads sends a message that you want more brickheadz. Which is fine, but I don't think it's sending the message you're trying to send.

Transparent. I happen to have this from a box of bulk and I don't particularly care about the stickers. Here's proof:

[MOC] Union Pacific Big Boy 4014, free building instructions
iragm replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'm going to pull the trigger on this. Amazing model and the instructions are wonderful. I'm not scared of pybricks. Do we have some confirmation that the 88008 PU medium motor will work? From @Toastie's comment above, it looks like this is the best option? It does not look like the large motor will fit without modifying the boiler quite a lot.- 50 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
iragm replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I found a way to get 30% off anything at Lego - had to jump through quite a few hoops but to me it was worth it. I saw this on r/legodeal but the post was removed because it wasn't reliable. I installed the Capital One Shopping app into Chrome. I visited the Lego page for 10305 and hard refreshed the page (control + F5) 4 or 5 times. I closed Chrome, reopened it, and did step 2 again. I didn't open Chrome again, nor did I visit lego.com The next day I got an introductory email that said Welcome To Welcome to Capital One Shopping, I clicked on one of the links in it to engage with the email, but didn't do anything else. The next day (around 48 hours after I visited the castle page), I got an email with the subject "Offer confirmed: Thanks to your recent purchases, you can get exclusive Rewards on Lego - Lion Knights' Castle" (note: I did not buy anything, lego related or not). The email offered $120 back on the castle. I clicked the link in the email, making sure to open it with Chrome. This took me to the castle page. I then clicked the capital one shopping extension (not sure if I had to do this) and a few seconds later a popup appeared in the top right corner that said "30% off all purchases on Lego.com" with an activate button. I clicked activate, added the castle to my cart, and bought it. The usual Lego order process happened with no indication from Capital One that I was getting money back. I figured if it didn't work, I'd just return the castle. 5 days later, (a day after the castle arrived), I got a confirmation email with the subject "Success! We've received your order and are processing your $119.99 in rewards now." It'll be a month before this clears, and it's as a gift card, but that is nearly as good a cash. A few things to note: Looks like this is capped at $500 off, and it's a single order. I should have bought 4 copies of the castle to maximize it. I did sell a few minifigures from the set, and after eBay fees, I have a "free" castle for about 2 hours of flipping. I use Firefox and only use Chrome when I'm buying things on bricklink because of the brickhunter extension. I didn't open Chrome between the initial visit and when the email arrived. Not sure if that matters or not. Capital One Shopping has already sent me another offer with 18% off anything on lego.com, but that is nowhere near enough to get me to buy anything else.- 2,976 replies

It's happening because they are busy and service is temporarily paused. They'll be back in stock at some point, probably in a month or so.

Working signalling system using SBrick and TLC products

Very impressive project. Programming all this and getting it to work is an accomplishment, especially in just 1 year, especially without prior programming ability.- 6 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
iragm replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This weekend is double VIP points + a duck, winter elves, and a baking set: https://www.lego.com/en-us/vip-weekend-deals None of those really do it for me, so I'm holding out for the Blacktron GWP next year to buy a second castle.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

I posted these links in the PAB thread, but they are relevant here: Vikings Animals Updated 90's castle figures Feathers, beards and misc accessories Weapons Shields and armor Helmets FYI, if you strip the /en-us/ bit from the URL, it'll localize to other people's area so they will get their local prices.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
iragm replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I fear you're right. I'm happy for LOTR fans, but I much prefer the 80's Lego factions. At least figures are on PAB, and I can probably buy any good LOTR sets and sell the figures separately to get some good castle stuff cheap. I think most people (myself included) did go for the 80's and 90's sets. Lego saw that people have no qualms about dropping $400 on a castle and wanted a piece of the action themselves. The problem is old stuff is seen as a collectors item, not a toy, and priced as such. This set in 20 years will probably sell for several thousand dollars.- 2,976 replies

Brickhunter is essential for price comparing bricklink to PAB and for buying a wanted list from PAB. I don't believe it has an alert function though.

You can't do that with Chrome as far as I know, sadly. I have a script that I posted earlier in this thread here which can be used to tell you when stuff comes back in stock, but it requires a bit of coding which may be intimidating for some. Failing that, you can check back with the site regularly; the en-us shop usually restocks parts between 9 and 9:30 PM EST so simply checking a bookmark daily may be a solution for you. Parts typically take 3-4 hours to sell out, although often less. Note that I said usually. There have been cases where the black falcon torsos were in stock, sold out, restocked, and sold out again, all within a 6 hour period.

This is definitely one of the best builds I've ever seen. Is that a sticker placed sideways on the 2x2 flag so that it's in the correct orientation when it hangs down? Others have mentioned the statue. Beautiful. I love the use of brick bricks instead of grille bricks on the MMV. The cargo looks great, and you have exactly the right amount of minifigures to bring the scene to life. The crane design is top notch too, the chains, ropes and log bricks give it just the right look. The 1/2 stud offsets on the dock boards is a nice look, much better than the continuous docks that I usually see. The curving on the back of the ship is nice and the blue dragon plumes somehow fit the imperials well, and the tumblehome is simple but works. No colors on the back of the boat, though? The modulars would be a lot better if they were de-aged a bit more to fit with the rest of the scene, lattice windows like the boat has would really change their look. The old school Eldorado/ITP section's use of yellow and 90's building techniques kind of clashes with the rest of the layout. On its own, it'd be great, but it feels a bit off compared to the rest of the layout. The details and easter eggs are incredible, I hope the pirate is able to climb the piling and rescue captain Redbeard!

This has been the case for many parts. One of two scenarios is likely: 1. TLG may be trying to prevent scalpers, by pricing new parts around the bricklink average sale price, it makes it difficult for people to buy all available parts en masse and flip them immediately for a profit. 2. Plain old greed Of course, these are not mutually exclusive. Time will tell if TLG drops prices on parts suggesting scenario 1, or if they keep prices high indefinitely. Hoping for the former, but to date, all prices for parts I'm tracking have just gone up.

Nice, thanks. They appear to be there now, just out of stock: https://www.lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?query=69360+6402701+6395137&page=1&includeOutOfStock=true&sku=

I don't see these. Part number? It's never been in stock in green. It was just posted as a part.

Amazing. Please post more pics of the tower and statue areas.

Lego cracked down pretty hard on counterfeit BL sellers recently - people were printing rare prints on genuine Lego torsos and selling them as rare figures. If you get parts from AliExpress on Bricklink, just report the seller (especially if they have hundreds of a rare part for sale) and Lego will take care of it. As mentioned, even if someone has a ton of a seemingly rare item, there's a good chance they bought it in bulk a long time ago from official sources.
-
$1!! That is straight up price gouging. That part should be 15-20 cents like other hats - it's a single piece and doesn't have any holes that would make the mold complicated. Between this and the saddle, it looks like they are pricing new parts based on the bricklink average price. I can't wait for the lion knight torsos to be available at $5 each...
-
$2.77 USD for the saddle? TLG must be keeping an eye on the bricklink prices for parts and drooling at the profit to be made.

I have a script set up to send me an email alert when parts I am looking for come back in stock. I'm going to post it here, this will be very helpful if you are tech savvy. You will need Node Red set up, as well as a gmail account configured with an app password to send email alerts to yourself. Import the json below into Node Red, configure the email node and the injection nodes. You will need one injection node per query, there are several examples for you to copy and modify in the flow. PM me or quote this post with questions and I'll do my best to help.

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
iragm replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The black falcon barding is fine. The crusader barding is garbage even compared to the one from the 90s. The transition from red to blue is awkward IMHO, and the print faces backwards on one side. I sold both of my bardings and most of the minifigures at the bricklink prices, so I ended up paying around $170 for the castle. I have plenty of the classic minifigs to populate it with, and I like the build. My only real complaint is that the chimneys make no sense and aren't put near the fireplaces like they would have actually been. I'm debating buying a second set for MOCs.- 2,976 replies
