  1. Set #1: 10305 (This wallet-breaking castle) Set #2 10497 (Galaxy Explorer remake) Set #3 40567 (Forestmen Hideout) I would be delighted to be wrong, but there isn't going to be a third castle that would cannibalize sales of 10305. Gone are the days when Wolfpack Tower, King's Mountain Fortress, Forestmen's River Fortress AND Black Knights Castle were all available at the same time. Personally, I would be thrilled to have a Guarded Inn remake with modern techniques. I found a few, but none that capture the charm of that set.
  2. No it isn't, it's just out of stock. It typically only stays in stock for a day or so at a time, so I suspect it's been extremely popular. https://www.lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?query=5449&page=1&includeOutOfStock=true
  3. The poll had a couple issues - If you said "classic castle", I would think you meant a combination of crusaders, black knights, forestmen, black falcons and wolfpack. But the picture was of the yellow castle, implying that in the poll, voting for that meant a yellow castle. This split the vote for sure. Additionally, the poll is heavily skewed towards late 90's nostalgia - does anyone actually want more rock raiders, studios, or time cruisers? Black falcons were the earliest faction, and by the early 90s (maybe 91 or so?) they were completely gone (except for a guest appearance on the black knights ship). People also thought lion knights very likely included other lion factions (of which there have been like 10...) which probably skewed the poll towards those. The forestmen are universally loved, even people who aren't Lego fans are impressed by my "little Robin Hood guys" when they come over. I hope we get a forestmen set as a follow-up to this one in a couple years.
  4. 6081 is still an outstanding set. Certainly one of the best sets of all time. But it has obvious flaws - lack of minifigs compared to 6080, lack of wall pieces, the doors bind on the drawstring of the bridge, the "palm" tree, the inexplicable jail door on the tower, the trap door that doesn't open with gravity, the courtyard isn't level, and the arches along the side allow the forestmen to sneak through. The queen, barding, crossbowmen, black bird, and overall aesthetic of the build more than make up for these flaws, but overall the set just isn't as good a build as 6086.
  5. I was in a similar situation to you growing up. You need to find a way to build 6086. Buy a few thrift store bulk lots on eBay and bricklink the remaining parts. A lot of the fun of 6086 can be had at a fraction of the price: Use the baseplate from 6082, it's a lot cheaper Skip the white dragon plume (3 pieces of plastic for $30 each is insanity!!), bardings, flag, and minifigs and get black falcons from PAB for $3 each Use stickers to replace the half-timber pieces or just drop the cash on them, they're a pretty nice looking part As someone who had 6081 (KMF) growing up and considered it the best set of all time when I was 6 years old, I have to admit that 6086 is better in almost every way. It's only missing something like the queen figure from 6081. The build is a ton of fun and much less repetitive than other castles, the wall pieces are well hidden behind the texturing, the pit/well area has the best use of that area of any set (except maybe Eldorado or the Imperial Trading Post where the cranes give it some more play value), the black/red/yellow color scheme is beautiful -- all in all, 30 years later it stands up very well to adult eyes. It really is the perfect castle and it's a shame that TLG switched gears afterwards, none of the newer castles can hold a candle to it.
  6. No, they might well be available later. The black falcon torsos didn't show up there for a while (months?) after the blacksmith release.
  7. Those were there a couple months ago, but are out of stock now. Element 6349967 They were already in black from a recent Harry Potter chess set.
  8. Knocked down archer here: A clear reference to the archer with a knocked down bow in the top right of 6080's picture :D
  9. $400 USD ($180 USD in 1990 dollars). Over 3x the cost of 6081, although I would say it is approximately 3x cooler, so it still seems like a pretty good deal even with Lego's recent price hike.
  10. The crusader flags are exactly like the ones I made when I was 9 years old, but the borders and print are not drawn with marker :D I am not a fan of the crusader barding and red/blue shield - the 1990 design is simply nicer. But the black falcon barding is 10/10. I love that they are using the old school helmets on their black falcons and not the new silver ones. Hopefully some of the parts make it to PAB before too long, I would love a few dozen of the gray torso/blue hat peasant and a good army of crusaders to go against my PAB falcons. I was bummed when TLG stopped making crusaders in the 90s. I stopped buying Lego in 1995, except for the guarded inn and black falcon fortress reissues. Glad the OG forces are back. This is a day 1 purchase for sure. My expectations were sky high and they somehow were exceeded.
  11. Looks like the site is updated with some stuff. Several of the parts are still not on PAB - sadly, no torsos or hats yet. Make sure to turn on show out of stock. https://www.lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick?query=&page=1&filters.i0.key=variants.attributes.appearsIn&filters.i0.ranges.i0.from="40567%3A"&filters.i0.ranges.i0.to="40567%3A9999" No instructions yet, although this may change shortly (the "no instructions found" page changed as I was making this post...): https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/40567
