I just asked because of the statment that was made. I can not believe that Redbeard was left out because an other character took take his place. I guess he was never considered to be in the set in the first place. Funny, because just in this minute i was flicking through the classic comic to see if the new pirates match any of the classic ones from the comic (by clothes color at least). Camilla and Will were always my favorites.

I did some more research (Maybe i just like to browse wikipedia ) on the topic but as i wrote earlier it is very hard to find any suitable picture or historic painting. Also jetties seem to be less common than a wharf/quay. The only picture i found showing black wood is from the ca. 1660 painting 'View of Delft' by Jan Vermeer. And there it is only the side wall of a canal. This type of construction was very common in the Netherlands. The side walls were made of wood with earth behind it. Klick on the pictures for the original version: The 1864 painting from Wilhelm Alexander Meyerheim shows a idealized? waterfront with a warf made of stone and wood: A 1699 view of an island near Batavia by Abraham Storck: The only picture i found showing a more grey wood. Ca. 1670 by Jacob van Ruisdael: Another typical example of a dutch landscape near a river/canal by Esaias van de Velde from 1615: I also tried to find paintings from the Americas but that is an even harder task. Even for big and well known cities like Havana or San Juan you will hardly find a painting showing any wooden structure in/near the water. But i want to do more research of this topic... just for fun I'll add a photo, taken 1864/65 in City Point, Virginia, showing a fine jetty that also does not look too dark:

Oh, that's ingenious!

I see. He is from the 2012 CMF series, that's why i didn't know him. Just checked the series and there were useful 3 minifigs, the pirate captain, conquistador and an "shakespearean" actor. Let's see what we'll get with the 2025 CMF

The stonewars article does not mention any sets but a polybag that was already uploaded to Lego servers last year. The polybag shows a player with a shark custume. You mean when the referee looks into an other direction? I agree with you. After Barracuda Bay and Eldorado Fortress the next logical choice is a ship, either a remake or a new one. Since the latest Indiana Jones sets and Rivendell, a Black Pearl remake also may be possible.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Yperio_Bricks replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Has this been mentioned before? There will be a new color, reddish orange, comming with the set. It is used for the roof of the pagoda: -
As a man i am ashamed to go through this very same discussion every time a history themed set (or in this case even a fantasy set) releases, which also represents female knights, soldiers or else. Women exist, get over it. Lego wants boys and girls playing with their toys to feel equally represented. There is nothing wrong with it. If this brings more girls into Lego, which still is often considered to be a boys toy, because they feel more comfortable when there are female minifigs, how can this be a bad thing? As was mentioned before, nowadays you can easily buy a truckload of heads and swap them as you like.

So there is a Lego soccer game which will release in the (near) future. But i want to talk about the promo picture shown above. A pirate captain is prominently featured in the picture and this again shows that Lego has not forgotten about Pirates and that Lego must consider Pirates as a important part of it's very own history as a company. There is also a a knight and a cat custume lady in the background. So i guess it's still cool to play a Pirates charakter in a Lego video game in 2023/24. Together with the small GWPs, such as the playground or castaway and other hints to Pirates, this again shows that Pirates is not dead yet. I just wish Lego would show more panache and instead of treating AFOLs as cash cows, they would release some Pirates play sets. Or just do some POTC sets, Lego please

I tried to find historic paintings that show wooden docks, but they are really hard to find. Unless someone finds a Royal Navy manual on how to preserve wooden port installations, historic paintings are the best source i guess.

I must admit, i am a little bit tempted to get Eldorado Fortress, so i can mod it in the way i would like to see it. If it would be available at Smyths Toys for example, with a little discount, i think i couldn't resist.

I'm pretty sure there is! Having a tan banana inside the peel makes it even better. Spinoza approves

Yes, it must be the lightning. Look at the color of the waistcoat for comparison.

I love it! So many minifigs will slip on this

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Yperio_Bricks replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Here's my personal opinon on the leaker topic (mods please delete if it doesn't fit here): If a leaker has something to say, then say it. Evereything else is kindergarden level. Reading LSW threads in this forum can be tiring when there is endless speculation about which leaker said what on reddit/insta/discord and whatnot. -
But in SES he's a little different with a black hat and grey legs. vs From the picture of the Imperial Trading post it's hard to tell which role Lego intended for him and he is also wielding a sword, but from the print of the sail i think it's fair to assume he is a civilian merchant. And since i voted "other" with civilians in mind, i'm going with this story and agree with @Alexandrina The flag of his ships sports red and yellow and that also differs from imperials and pirates. But i am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Lego Pirates lore so i don't know if red/yellow has a meaning

I always use brickset for research. Bricklink looks like it's still 1999 PI054: Pirate Brown Vest Ascot, Blue Legs, Brown Pirate Triangle Hat
-
At brickset they are all listed as pirates but maybe that does not mean anything

This is leakers game of telephone -
Few days left to vote. Pirates got a comfortable lead now while bluecoats and redcoats are tied for second. At facebook Pirates lead with roughly the same percentage but bluecoats are at 30% while the rest bob around 10%.
