  1. Bricklink finally got my missing part sorted. It was kind of funny - I could see the part on their DB's/Lists - but it was missing from Stud.io - they cited that it wasn't finalized or something was off in the LDD DB - but the guy was nice enough to give the raw file to me to insert into the model. Took a while to get it done - but they got it done none-the-less - also fixed their instructions too hehe. Now its REALLY looking like the Otana. :D PS: yes its not looking transparent - but the part number is valid and will be transparent when you buy it - in theroy lol.
  2. Reached out to him and gave credit where credit is due. Lets hope our 2012 Otana builder is still around and look's in on my monster project.
  3. Wow - so someone did try - didn't really come out and call it - He certainly did a great job attempting - brick shapes have changed for sure. Would be curious to see if you can poke him and have him take a look here at my attempt. Currently my build is measuring in at 23-24" by 32-33" there abouts and about to crest 6000 pieces. He went full brick on majority of his builds from what I can see - where as I tried to get more true shapes out. The changes your pointing too such as the cockpit and cargo hatch - don't change the overall structure at all if very minimal - its more of a preference in design change or look. Happy to take suggestion on using alternate bricks - but my options tended to be limited to non-existence of part I want or the color won't work as they don't make im in "that" color - dark blue-grey I think? The source of my headaches is the Dome/Saucer sections - changing those restructures the mandible up to the rear portion of the ship. Center section I can mess with to a point without much to worry about. But its getting very busy in there as I reinforce structure and get ready to cap the domes with the dual cannon turrets. The Engine array platting is not going to look that great to the drawing let alone other examples - but as you already pointed out - its looking impressive as it is. Sorry If im not making sense - and your feedback is wonderfully welcome.
  4. Laying hull plating on the engine section up to the dome portion - this is just not going to look right no matter what I do - I really wish lego had more dome/saucer pieces. Doing my best to make a square peg fit a round hole. I have to admit tho...this is looking rather awesome regardless - once again I'm reminded why no one's really done a Otana to this scale. Also squished engine array to be in line with the drawings - so its not as "tall".
  5. Very nice! Totally love the inferred action going on here.
  6. Engine Array is starting to look good - going to be quite the trick to get the hull plating between the saucer/dome sections but ill figure something out. And no your not losing your mind - I trimmed the height on the cargo hatch to be closer to scale - that was a very painful process. :)
  7. Ended up going back to my original "brick" design (but fewer bricks/simpler) on the engine array <at its current new size> - due to the fact I made a "oops" by making the cargo hatches too big so after scraping 2 bricks of height off the top/bottom of each hatch - and pulling the engine array out by 2 studs....got things sized up much better. I need to do some more adjustments but I'll give a sneak peek tomorrow. :)
  8. Engine array work continues. Still going the plate route - may or may not revert to my original brick idea - its fewer parts - but it may prove to be too much of a headache. I did give myself 1 bricks worth of space between the transparent cylinders and the wall for LED's. :)
  9. Totally makes sense - I've got my collection posted if you've not seen it. Would love to hear your thoughts on my Otana MOC too seeing as you going for the big massive cool stuff hehe. (Both links are in my sig ;) ) Looking forward to more creations! :)
  10. Wow..just wow. Words cannot express the awesomeness of your collection over time. You are every bit a Blacktron fan that I am Mtron here. I just wish I had the mass volume of parts to play like that. I'd be going crazy on Mtron stuff. I did see you snuck in a couple of Mtron MOC's - all on the fridge - but your Black Tron stuff is literally out of this world.
  11. Love how you got the "Ghost" docked - very nice design.
  12. Ok guys/gals/fan-atics. Riddle me this riddle me that. - Where the bloody hell...is the Ion Cannon/Laser Cannon on this ship. Its been bugging me. All I can confirm is the location of the "Dual" Laser Cannon turrets (Albeit I'm putting Quad Cannons on this - I may have to revert that due to the fact I'm calling this the Otana - sigh) - belly/head - but not the cannons - namely the ion cannon that made the Otana so special. I've been reaaaaal tempted to find a way to put one on this design....some sort of little signature trait as it was what really set this ship apart from even the Falcon. Maybe even the Concussion missile launchers. :)
  13. No different than an UCS AT-AT model....just don't poke it. It would be top heavy - but it looks very balanced. It's a rather good build honestly.
  14. Makes me think of the Yeagers from Pacific Rim. That Bad megablocks Vibe.
  15. So WIP pics today - still working on this - just taking time. Cockpit Tube got corrected a bit and moved inside to the main body. Built the wall behind the tube. I had to recenter the tube to the body as it was off buy a plate or so - still is by a bit - but its much better now. Still not happy with the oval effect of the shape - but with the pieces we have to work with - its still looking good regardless.
  16. For giggles you should do the Hyperspace module too ;) (The ring) Great work either way!
  17. This is going to be a massive project/undertaking. :D
  18. Welp - stuck with my cockpit tube as it is - although i did improve the front portion. Its been moved back closer to the main body - now I get the fun job of finishing up. I'm not looking forward to the oval-ness that it will have - but this is still going to look like a great attempt at making an Otana. Just wish Lego had some more options in wedges/cylinders. I'll hopefully have some sneak peaks here to share in a day or so.
  19. UCS or nuthin ;) (my vote)
  20. I do not envy your project - and I thought my Otana project was going to be a nightmare - you def. have your work cut out for you. I eagerly await updates. :)
  21. I know your pain - as you've been watching me work on the Otana - I suspect there is plenty of room for improvements on the program. Like the bug where you copy/mirror anything with hinges and the hinge parts are inverted which breaks everything. Yeaaaaah.
  22. I think the reason they are like that is its an armor plate - kind of hard to handle that with it being a door. Just my 2 cents. Only mods I've seen is adding a lift crane but beyond that - not as of yet.
  23. Tried the cylinder out - its not going to work for me due to the fact I can't cap it and adapt it to the other sections of the cockpit tube. I'm still mentally coming up with some ideas but the biggest issue is its a fraction of a stud too short - so it gets to be a real nightmare that way. Its a great technique - but square peg meets round hole syndrome. :(
  24. If they are factory sealed and in very good condition - could be a bonus - but demand is a fickle mistress. Id probe for more info on the goods.
