New 6 hole rims at 42000 and 9398
rm8 replied to rm8's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Shining 6hole without white ring -
Did someone met new "41999 style" black rims WITHOUT WHITE RING at old sets like 42000 and 9398? I have such information, but still dont belive These tires can not be used with Well known Ansmann 3rd party tires cause of reinforcement inside the rims. Old 3 hole rims do not have this reinforcement. Note that.

While we fighting S&H, Designers blog was updated with information about 4 2h2013 catalogued models. You can found there information about "who designed 420001, 42005, 42008?" http://www.us.lego.com/en-us/technic/technicfan/blog/2013-2hy/july-blog-post/ -
thank you Dragofoscar, The chassis is the same as 9398 because 1) challenge rules 2) TLG internal production processes. May be it hard to reSet conveyer to pack chassis bags with black parts....

Thank you for your video. Your "rocks" remind me 9398 advertising where crawler "can drive any obstacle..." my conclusion that batteries at 41999 was low Did you tested 41999 outdoor before this video? I also have problems with 41999 because of outdoor dust in the portal hubs. Changing hubs increased performance, but it was still not good as lighter 9398. I also found that laquered rims at 41999 are less grippy than old black from 9398. In my compariosn video both crawler's rims was equpiped by rubber band to prevent tire slipping. 9398 that I used for comparison have never been outdoor but was played a lot indoor. And its drivetrain was easier to rotate by hand and inertia was better than new 41999 without "mileage". All this factors played a role, but anyways weight difference is too much... 41999 is better

I am sorry. Dont take it so close to you heart:) you are the happy one who received 41999 from S&H. Congratulations:) I think we should make database file somewhere in the cloud (google docs for example) and fill our numbers there.

rm8 replied to technicmad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When raising or lowering the boom till the end positions, bevel gear with pin hole between actuators and cabin slip with "crunch" sound. Do you have such problem? -
I am sorry, that disturbing you discussion, but I have updated the first post. 1. Technicbricks posted second (final) part of 41999 review 2. Direct links to Building Instructions in PDF #1 http://www.eurobrick...0

I think they are painted. I have some scratches at front bull bar. Take care of your details.

No, slipping is because there is no clutch gear at boom rising drivetrain -

Of course you can make Boss in other colours with different types of chassises and body including limousines:) but it should be from Boss family. I think boonet, front and doors have to be the same with minor updates. Other parts can be modified.

Since many of us became owners of 41999 BOSS crawler, this thread became actual. 99% modifications will be about body design and color, since there is nothing new we can do with chassis. I am waiting for pickups "El camino" style, wagons (like effe mentioned), new lowered chassis and other mods. I will update first post from time to time to make database of mods with link to posts. May be we can make our unofficial challenge with voting? What do you think? I have an idea what we can do with the best models from voting:) thats a surprise. First we have to,fill this topic with cool creations;)
