My mechanical clocks
GerritvdG replied to Davidz90's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for sharing, very interesting those reductions! Good luck to the crane operator -
Nice, well done! The model looks very good and is packed with functions. Maybe the only drawback is that some parts used are rare and expensive like the red 6l liftarm and the small steering arm with towball. But no complaints for this wonderful model with free instructions!

Grum's Shed
GerritvdG replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Condolences Grum.... I've found two alternate models of the 42128 heavy duty tow truck that could be a starting point: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-114100/OldOlneyLego/daf-f2800-hookloader-42128-c-model/#details https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-111919/OldOlneyLego/daf-f2800-crane-truck-42128-b-model/#details Maybe it's possible to build one of these and mod them with the correct colors and version of the 2800... Also found these system build, but without any background about the builder, etc... -
General Part Discussion
GerritvdG replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
These 19 part types make up 50% of the total parts needed to display all Technic sets between 2009 and now: : 70 part types make up 80% 135 part types make up 90% 219 part types make up 95% 481 part types make up 99% 982 part types make up 100% If we exclude the top-4 (Technic Pins) we get the following figures for Technic sets between 2009 and now: parts required to display them all 112499 (100%) parts required to build one set at a time 19838 (18%) parts required to build one at a time (ignoring color) 8820 (8%) These percentages are still relatively close to the numbers with the pins included.- 5,506 replies

GerritvdG replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, according to my experience Bricklink pieces go for EUR 0.30 including shipping and handling, makes EUR 6600 ( I think this is the lower-bound). Buying the sets new isn't possible anymore for a reasonable price, but if you calculate EUR 0.10 per piece you know it wil be more expensive... Will try to calculate this... Haha, that's one of the sets I have as red parts pack- 5,506 replies

GerritvdG replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, that's true. I was searching for a tool for putting together a Bricklink order. And of course it is sometimes less expensive to buy a parts-pack compared to ordering the specific parts, in my experience you quickly get enough pins, LBG and DBG liftarms... The remaining parts needed are often the more expensive / less common ones and then I like to buy the right number of parts. Yes, that's an interesting question. Below some results and we are talking about parts including the different molds, printed parts, hoses, etc. The only thing I've excluded are the sticker sheets. Selection: all Technic sets between 2009 and now (174) parts required to display them all (150041) parts required to build one set at a time (22013 , 15%) parts required to build one set at a time, ignoring color (10965, 7%) That's pretty interesting I think, furthermore I was wondering what the figures would be for another theme, here you go. Selection: all Creator 3-in-1 sets between 2009 and now (172) parts required to display them all (57606) parts required to build one set at a time (23433, 41%) parts required to build one set at a time (ignoring color (7130, 12%) I didn't do a thorough analysis, but it is clear that Technic sets have a lot more parts in common than Creator 3-in-1 sets. Of course the Technic Pins category plays an important role here, but I don't think that explains everything. Btw if anyone is interested in this excel-sheet, just drop me a PM with your e-mail.- 5,506 replies

Thanks for the help guys, I've created the overview I wanted with the downloads of Rebrickable. The maximum number of a specific part/color combination in a selection of sets (theme/year), perfect!- 5,506 replies

Thanks @Void_S for pointing me to custom lists, I never used them, but it seems to come in very handy to prepare my next Bricklink order for example! @JonathanM, thanks, that's seems a very nice way of creating the spreadsheet I need. I'm going to fiddle a bit...- 5,506 replies

General Part Discussion
GerritvdG replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm trying to collect the Lego parts to build most of the official Lego sets (one at a time). I'm using Rebrickable a lot to calculate what parts I need to build te next set on my wish list. To manage all the parts I try to store only the maximum number of a certain part as used in a specific Technic set, the rest go's to my overflow boxes. For example: Liftarm Thick 1 x 15, I will store: 21 in white (max nr in the 8828) 26 Light Bluish Gray (max nr in the 42098) .. etc. I'm using the Bricklink summary for this, but it's a lot of work: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32278&in=S&catID=36&ov=Y I'm searching for a spreadsheat with this information, with x = color, y=the part and in each cel the max. number of that combination. Does anyone have this, or have other means of managing this? Thanks, Gerrit- 5,506 replies

This is a still from Youtube BriQ Foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4-HLLeXja4 Not sure if this is the real 42151, but didn't find this image elsewhere... I don't think this is the real 42151, to much parts for a $50 set... -

Yes, that could be an interesting set, if the small sets are just slightly modified versions of their predecessors then it’s boring. But I’m happy if they achieve the quality of this year’s Telehandler! -

Looking forward to these small sets. Would be great if the polybag has steering and a working lift (what I really expect with a pallet), maybe something like this: -

42133 - Telescopic Loader
GerritvdG replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is, build the 8045 this week (in my quest to build models I like that I have missed during my dark ages). And build the 42133, in white (I don't have the Medium Azure) without some color coding and a small modification for tilting the forks inspired on @Jundis mod. And builded a version with the "Manitou" color scheme because I like the real machines for some reason. 42133 is a really nice set because of all these functions packed into such a small model and I think it's even better with other color schemes.- 67 replies
