Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickMatit replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wasn't a Promobricks' statement that Gringott's would be in scale with Diagon Alley? If that's the case, I suppose the lower part could be removable. Can't wait to see it too. -

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Talking about the 30651_Quidditch Practice polybag, while I'm satisfied LEGO give us a less expensive way for creating a Ravenclaw team, I wished they put inside the cape too, just to keep the coherence with the other three houses outfit and cause I like capes, that reminds me of old Harry Potter sets . Anyway, considering I have no place near my home where to buy polybags I simply bought 7 of them from a german BrickLink seller and I'm waiting for them arrival. -

I really appreciated the old LEGO Harry Potter games, but the first one had some really annoying bugs. Does someone know what Skywalker Saga-style treatment would mean? -

Well, it could be... never thought about it, I admit , but this is a set I didn't bought cause in my opinion it's too expensive (considering that I already have both Buckbeak and Sirius). For what I remember, one of the designer said this was something more generic and not a specific reference. -
This is, simply, majestic! The amount of details you recreated with different pieces is astonishing. Like when you enter an ancient cathedral, it is impossible to capture all the details with a single glance and one can only stay ecstatic, open-mouthed admiring so much beauty. Crosses, saints, spiers, buttresses, towers, torches, flying buttresses... everything is there. And that stained glass window in the transept it's a pleasure for the eyes. Lucky the inhabitants of your city

The "what set did you just build" thread
BrickMatit replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've just finished building and disassembling the 10258_London Bus set. I bought it used on BrickLink as a Christmas present for my sister (no, I'm not late, it's for the next Christmas ) and I didn't expect it to be so big! I'm not into set like this - I prefer playset - but my sister loves London and has only a few LEGO (2001 Hogwarts Express and Hagrid's Hut, that I and my brother gift her last year), so I'm pretty sure she will appreciate it and finding a place where to expose it. I think It's really well done. For me, on the other hand, I bought and built 31143_Birdhouse. This is, probably, my first LEGO creator set - or, at least, I don't remember any others - and I really appreciated it. Birds are so little and cute that I couldn't resist I built it with my brother and really appreciate all three sets (it's a 3 in 1 set). Plus we had a nice time playing some funny stories with it. -

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickMatit replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I have nearly a month of delay... but I hope that minifigures depicted in leaked images (Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco from the "snowball battle" in PoA + Aberforth), probably coming in the 2023 Advent Calendar, will arrive in a better set than the 2022 one. I mean, I appreciated some of the minifigures (Tonks and Neville) and some of the microbuilds are really well done (I particularly like Womping Willow and Gringotts), but this is not a type of Advent Calendar I would buy again. Untill now this is my least favourite, while the 2020 one (Yule Ball themed) the best. -
Couldn't it be Minas Morgul?
-
Well, it's not a secret that LEGO has already produced at least a prototype of Barad-Dûr for a market survey: twenty days ago leaked image was available on web. Barad-Dûr could already be in LEGO project for 2024. I've not seen Rivendell reviews yet, but this could be a major mistake in the set.

Very interesting idea and very good execution! Your vignettes are so well done!

This is so majestic! And so good and imaginative your orbs! -
Yeah, I find it a major slip in a very good set. The reused face, in my opinion, is a downgrade from the previous one.

For what we'have seen untill now, Harry Potter and LotR path are really different. Harry Potter returned in 2018 with its own theme (Wizarding World) plus BrickHeadz plus a minifigure series. It's true that there was the microscale 71043 Hogwarts Castle, but this set came out at the same time as the playset wave (summer 2018). Then LEGO continued the already planned 3-year-playset-path (and have continued with further 3 year different style), adding the first Advent Calendar in 2019, the first brick-built creature in 2020 (Hedwig), the first adult collectors set in 2021 (Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition with its black box) and an art set in the same year. LotR returns this year with an adult collectors set (with its, imho, unexciting black box) and BrickHeadz. And if the Barad-Dur leaks would be confirmed as a set for the next year, we would have two adult collectors set with no sign of playsets. Of course, we don't know what 2024 will give us, but for now LEGO seems to have taken two different paths with Harry Potter and LotR, with different targets and markets, and I wouldn't bet on LotR or The Hobbit playset in the next future. Even if Rivendell would sell a lot, and I think it will, how this fact could be seen by LEGO as a sign that people want playset LotR and not new adult collectors sets (like Barad-Dur or similar)? I wouldn't mind being proven wrong in the future : from the past sets I have only Dol Guldur battle and there's so many character I'd like to buy... and without hiring a burglair to steal gold to a dragon .

Well, that's unavoidable with an evergreen theme. Untill LEGO will stop producing Harry Potter sets we'll see increasingly remakes (for example it's not impossible in future seeing a new Hagrid's Hut or the third Great Hall). New kids will grow up and luckily for LEGO will appreciate bricks and Harry Potter. Considering the average duration life of a person and imagining an evergreen Harry Potter theme, how many Great Hall could we expect? And luckily for us there will be other themes out there waiting for us -

As you said, if it was a complement to 71043 the set wouldn't work on its own. It would be bought only by people already has 71043, or want to buy it, and want to complete the first half. If the leak is true, maybe something more like this (not mine) MOC Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry | Flickr -

I still can't believe it's not a dream. A fantastic dream! When the LotR and The Hobbit sets came out I wasn't into LEGO that much, just a couple of sets a year, so I missed the train - I just got the battle of Dol Guldur as a Christmas present. When I fully entered the LEGO world, with the return of Harry Potter in 2018, LotR was a distant memory and the old sets on the secondary market really expensive (not that some Harry Potter sets aren't! ). I welcomed the news of the theme's return with emotion, but also skepticism, listening to the price previews - in the future I'll also have to start dealing with the limited space ... in mid-December, with my brother, I rewatched the two trilogies - saturday after saturday - and my anticipation increased. Now I wait with quiet trepidation, the deep breath before the plunge . I will calmly evaluate the set... ...but I already know that I won't miss the train again .

I've read it on Promobrick: "We'll probably hear more about the set tomorrow when LEGO Rivendell could be officially unveiled later that day" (translated with Google from german).

The image is heavily distorted by the curvature of the ring. It's hard to say how much the set is like the leaked one: try look the upper tower on the right of the ring (left in the leaked image) how much is stretched backwards. And the lower part of the set is hidden, so maybe the bridge is hidden as well. Surely what appear missing, or at least I can't see them, are the trees near the gazebo... oh, well, it's up to few hours and we'll know everything

Thanks for your answer @Yope I understand your feeling, trying to follow the theme - I'm not even a completist - considering lego Harry Potter isn't my only passion - and there are other interesting LEGO set and, of course, limited spending power - , is becoming overwhelming. @krimimimi interesting considerations. -

The recent leak showing the concept for a hypothetical future The Burrow set leaded me to make a consideration I wanna share. Imagining Harry Potter as an evergreen theme, which are the 3 (or similar number) sets and 10 (or similar number) minifigures LEGO should always have on shelves (in any variant), affordable for the larger community of LEGO and Harry Potter fan (so in a range from 0€ to 100/150€)? My personal list of sets is - The Great Hall - Hagrid's Hut - The Burrow My personal list of minifigures is - Harry - Ron - Hermione - Hagrid - Dumbledore - Draco - Snape - Ginny - Neville - Luna - Voldemort (or Raptor/Tom Riddle) - Cedric I thought about these lists supposing to be a new entry Harry Potter theme buyer and, of course, they're strongly influenced by what I think is important in Harry Potter (and thought when I was a kid). The two list are not related, so LEGO shouldn't have to to put Cedric in Hagrid's Hut or Voldemort at The Burrow
