I don't think TLG will do that .. allthough they did make RC cars that was pretty much non system LEGO. But a flying 'thing' would need so many special parts I doubt that TLG will go into that. I also think they're not wanting to compete with the whole RC world as such But what do I know, the future is hard to predict Yeah, kudos to Zblj .. but he has very good LEGO skills, I just think it's wasted on this project. Imho that is ..

If someone makes a proper RC controlled (no power umbilical, sorry) 'copter using LEGO parts, I'll gladly eat my words AND a properly cooked and prepared 2x8 brick with a nice Shiraz to boot Of course with a youtube vid for full documentation I applaud you gentlemen for your endeavours, but it really is futile. LEGO parts simply does not have the power versus weight ratio to make it happen

This is most exellent! I and REALLY applaud you for for taking the set outside .. gawd I'm so tired of seeing white/photostudios backgrounds Everything looks good, the photos are wonderfull with a true LEGO colour! My only critique is that the water is a bit too plain/too 'tiled'. Make some waves/movement Just super .. if was a set, I'd buy it

LEGO is not real RC. Even if you could get that kinda of battery power, the rest; axles, lack of ballbearings, weak ABS, poor tyres not to mention motors/servos etc is gonna be a shopstopper. Honestly, if you wanna do this, look at Tamiya etc LEGO is cool for intricate mechanical works like the 8043 Excavator/pneumatics like the 8110 I feel a lot of posters here are barking up the wrong tree

Yes, 9V batteries are quite poor when it comes to mAh.They also have high internal resistance, which means that they are poor at heavy peak loads. AA are better than AAA .. and C are better than both .. and D are the best. Then you need to step up to LIPO Regular 12V lead/acid types can also give _really_ high amps and are quite forgiving when it comes to charging I doubt you can find 9V batteries that really have a 1200mAh capacity. That's like a factor three to five higher than normal Edit: (m)AH is a function of volume, keep that in mind when you're comparing various types

Be carefull about putting batteries _in parallel_! Especially with LIPOs (and when charging!). Most types requires balancing resistors and / or more advanced circuitry. Serial is fine, parallel is another bag of (not)fun So, who's gonna be the first to blow up an XL with this new fad? Yes, there is pretection circutry build into TLG's electrical parts, but what good is it if you trip it all the time? I'd like to see some proper load LEGO is not high perfomance RC, don't treat it like that .. imho that is

I know that 4 x 4 cone with a single stud on top!. My sister used to have a set with that .. lemme just BL for a bit : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=272 Fairly rare, only came in four sets (and she had 230 - I used to steal that cone all the time to make awesome space stuff)

Look, we'we been over this before. Not gonna happen with current parts. LEGO is _NOT_ build for those rpms! And if was, you'd need a shitload of power to get lift off because of the heavy weight It's really very simple math Of course TLG could design special motors, gears, RC, battery yadda yadda ... but then it wouldn't be LEGO would it? It's a pipedream

Ah, but now you're going all meta on us complaining about those who complain If LEGO makes your life stupid then there's plenty of other fora that discusses the ups'n'downs of life. I can recommend several if you like But there's no other place like EB allthough I do like Bricksets forum also There's a bunch of stuff here that gets me all twisted up too, but one have to take the good with the bad. Such is every forum, imho

I think 12V train motors are a good deal more fragile then PF motors and I'm not sure there's a thermo swtich inside? Also, they don't come cheap and I'm not really gonna waste a mint red one on that silly idea And you'd need to drag around TWO batteryboxes and receivers .. I got enough hassle just trying to hide one set! (I do hack 'em though and use 9V batteries for small locos) If there's a man/company making rods .. and another one making wheels, then they should sit down and have a coffee together

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?

Yeah, but for some reason you can't download DECOO instructions at lego.com -
The castle in Battle of Alamut (Prince of Persia) was considerably different (sorry, don't have the pic at hand, but with some google foo you can find it) and looked awful. The finished product was quite nice though. The leaked pic was a poster (I think?) and not a shot of the box But I guess these new Castle sets are probably close to what we're gonna get And I say no thanks. They look like utter crap. I've gotten spoiled by MMV, MVR and Joust I guess Besides, I've bought every Castle set from '84 to '87 plus some thousand old grey bricks, minifigs and weapons I got my Castle sorted

Thanks! Surprised not to see Galaxy Squad? Depressed to see that DUPLO (and Friends) have considerably better theme ideas than City Nice that Dino and MF are still going strong. Could both do with a second wave, imo Strange TLG doesn't do more advertising for Expert Creator (Modulars, the new train, Haunted House etc)?

Just run the old 12V motors off 9V PF/RC. I do that, speed is adequate. Rods are awesome

Best sytem set for technic parts
1974 replied to Hopey's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There's also a good bunch in Power Miners sets. Those can be found cheaply secondhand now -
This is the weirdest question ever on EB Are you talking 'bout a plain old 3003 brick that TLG so far have put into 2233 sets (15 just this year)? Yes, that brick is quite usefull

Nice review. Your pics are actually the very best among all the new space reviews; not shopped, oversaturated and set against white background. Much preferable, imho Edit : Better pics than the recent LoC reviews as well

That's not Summer 2013. That BS folder is gone now ..
