Are People using fake accounts on Cuusoo to Support?
1974 replied to Meatman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One can just use a proxy like hidemyass.com, proxyforfree.com or whatever .. loads of them, really Also, it's not hard to to make _millions_ of different emails seemingly to come from different IPs. There's loads of forums out learn about that and the software to boot My predictions is that CUUSOO will amount to just about .. nothing. The stuff we'we seen so far is pretty boring While I don't cruise CUUSOO, it's my understanding that a lot of the MOCs posted are in the licenced area and that is very difficult turf for TLG to enter I feel a lot of people will get very dissapointed when TLG shuts the whole darn thing down (like the Universe thing) Not to rain on anyones parade, that's just how I think it'll end -
What do you mean? LEGO has been around since the early 30's, allthough I'm not sure when they coined the term "The LEGO Group" (aka TLG). Do you happen to know? If not, your statement is bollocks, mate

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
1974 replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree Those arches (which I bought from Gary) currently costs $1.85 each (and there is only ONE new for sale at the moment) at BL, so 12 for for 12 USD is quite a good deal (<-- note, allways look out for Gary's/LEGO Historian's deals!) But when I was a kid (that's 77' to 89' - back then there was NO ebay/BL! - only LEGO Customer Service, but I had no idea how to order from) .. rare was what you DIDN'T have but what your mates DID have Back then I remember really lusting for more pneuamtics, shock absorbers, big technic wheels and those big fancy transparent panels used in space sets .. Oh, and monorail! I did have a big 12V train setup (7740/50/60 + lots of stations etc) and that was a big envy to my playmates When one of my friends got a monorail, I remember we tried REAL hard to make monorail tracks out of existing bricks (and failed) But now, 'rare' has taken a whole new meaning. just try bricklinking a Millennium Falcon and you'll se the full power of capitalism, haha I've also stepped into the dark world of SW but I'm quite content with the current option of sets and I'll not blow crazy money on a gold Darth Vader or similar (<-- relax, he dosn't exist!) I LUV BL and all I want is pretty much just up for graps 'Cept monorail, that I had to shell out 4Keuro to get a decent setup I've noticed LEGO Historian selling double transparant macaronies for serious money .. I remember in my very early youth buildng towers with those ... and playing with those funny looking 1:87 trucks with company names .. and those neat little 1x1 round bricks with names one them ... (My memory is getting better, I can elaborate if anyone wants to know) Sorry to say, all that is lost now But that stuff is quite rare. Rare as in worth-loads-of-money ... sigh Timemachine, I want you -
Nice, I'll take those as well

7740 Intercity Train - Observation Car - Parts Pack
1974 replied to LEGO Historian's topic in The Bazaar
Hey Gary (Legoninja) Those 1x3x6 trans-clear skylights (windscreens) are not that rare. I bought 50 of those from a LEGOLAND builder at a local convention some time ago But I'd like the other windows so I bought both your auctions Please do NOT send the items until you've heard from me (I'm out of town until october - but I HAVE paid for the items + shipping allready) and do NOT send the DVDs/downloads as I allready have it! As it's part of my auction, actually two auctions, please send them (DVD/download) to the next two nice EB members who reply to this thread who DO NOT ALLREADY posses this wonderfull DVD/download I'll give you shipping info later, Gary Cheers, Ole Also, I have bought at least 30 of those yellow/red doors at BL and they all look like crap! Yes, I know old time yellow is not modern yellow (I can deal with that), but the 'red' is allmost pinkish on all my doors. Am I just unlucky? Or is that what age does? I don't remember my doors looking that back in the 80's -
Discount don't work here. He's selling a whole complete SW collection. There's no collection like this to be found anywhere for sale right now (any maybe never). Yes, maybe you can collect the sets/parts cheaper of BL/Ebay (plus added a shxtload of shipping costs). But this a _collection_ they always cost more than the individual items But you have to remember, there are actually people with pretty much unlimited financial power. If some kid with a father earning, lets say 100 million dollars a year, 25k£ is peanuts. Really, peanuts I guess he's aiming for that .. some kid who's fallen in love with SW LEGO and want the lot. NOW! And I think he might just get lucky .. lots of really rich kids out there .. Now, is the price is reasonable? There's quite a good thread on Brickset about that

Maintaining Constant Voltage Around a Large Track
1974 replied to toxicbananna's topic in LEGO Train Tech
How big is that figure eight setup? One transformer - with clean tracks AND clean motors - would be enough for quite a big setup -
Maintaining Constant Voltage Around a Large Track
1974 replied to toxicbananna's topic in LEGO Train Tech
A 12V transformer is definitely not recommended! This will expose the 9V motors to 12V at the points where the transformers are connected, not good and they'll go too fast as well (until they burn out). If it was my setup, I'd measure the voltage along the track and insert more transformers where needed (any maybe add some diodes) The LEGO tracks are indeed not good conductors and quite a bit of resistance wil build up. And as Ohm's law is V/R*A, the longer the track are, the resistance will go up (more R) and the voltage will drop (V) as the current draw (A) from the motor is constant If one has a big setup like this, I suggest to learn some basic electronic knowledge (plenty of that stuff online) and buy a multimeter -
I doubt an 'undercover theme' would be part of City, more likely as an action theme (like the quite succesfull Agents theme) As KD noted, I also think the mining theme is a one shot only. Too bad, they fitted right into my layout (but the again, I didn't bay any of the constructions sets from 2007-20011) I just hope 2013 will bring SOMETHING ELSE THAN FREAKIN' FIRE/POLICE SETS!! .. sorry, EB is back to their normal friendly, none shouting service ..
-
It can't be a typo as TLG have registered 'Chima', not 'China' .. China would make some sense though as I guess they'd like to break into that market. But messing with Chinas past is quite a sensitive topic 2013 will tell (But my guess it's a new adventure theme, hooray!)

Instructions? Come on, it would be easy to make one just looking at that picture. Nonetheless, it doesn't really look like a GT40 .. what's up with the sidemirrors and the bulky back?

There are precious few mailboxes at both the north and at the southpole I tend to agree But they do, except Ninjago of course Awesome would be to look at some of current scientific expeditions as they provide plenty of examples of really cool vehicles/habitats, many of them look quite futuristic and could easily be turned into great playsets. You do the googling

Hello Plastic Nurak
Sure :) Are you here on holiday or on a business trip? Where in Aarhus are you staying?
You can email me directly at ole@frostberry.com
Cheers,

No, I didn't read the numbers on the component, I measured it. I 've been too long in this game to trust numbers on a component - measurement is what I trust It's five point six, trust me Just put it in the right way If you can't get a minimelf, it wouldn't be too hard to fit in a regular 0,6W leaded zenerdiode ..

Thank you for the video I allways wondered how those micromotors might perform in a vehicle like that. The speed is fine for a busy city layout I think. Great engineering part on steering mechanism - rubber bands are wonderfull But it does not look much like a current city vehicle though .. Maybe try modding the new garbage truck? Plenty of space in that one The problem with LEGO electrical parts is of course that they take up a lot of space. I see no reason why it shouldn't be possible to put an IR reciever/controller pcb + motor into something like the old 9V studded motor boxes But then we have the problem of way too high RPM. DC motors are like that, high RPM, little torque - which have to be converted through gears. LEGO gears also take up a lot of space I'm not much into RC cars (anymore, it's been +15 years), but I'm sure with all the new fancy stuff like those tiny RC 'copters, there must be very small motors with internal gearing available now? I think a lot of people might be interested in a solution for this problem and I see several smart techheads here so maybe we could do a community thing? You know, stuffing a small geared motor with a PF controller into a small box/chassis like those old 9V motors? Just a thought ..

It's an electronic component. Components fail Replace it with a 5V6 minimelf zenerdiode It's most likely a part of a reference voltage/Vreg for the potted mystery module/IR recievers as all the other components (LED + resistor, transistors and the 1930 H-bridge motor driver) will handle up to 11V I could trace it out but there's not much more to it than that, I reckon

Kirk is indeed a secondary last name, not secondary first name. It would be unusual to call a person 'Ole Kirk', unless he could be confused with another Ole (in the company) Kind regards, Ole The 'O' is pronounced like the O in LEGO, the 'le' is a bit more like french like 'le canard'. Emphasis is on the 'O' That/my name has always been difficult to pronounce by english speaking people. And the spanish people allways say Olé!

Ideas for new part designs
1974 replied to Nachapon Bricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
But do TLG patent individual bricks? I tend to think not .. I'm sure this whole CUUSOO thing have been well thought out (allthough, I'm not sure it'll end too well) Also, many of those proposed wonderfull bricks are probably allready CAD'ed out long time ago at TLG design headquarters I'm sure we'll see many of them in the future .. -
I can't see how they could be created and still be, you know, flexible But different curves (and they could be very short indeed) could be introduced and thus one would often eliminate those not-so-great-looking FT in a setup I like 'em anyway They're great for sublte elevation too

9396 Super Modifications!
1974 replied to Saberwing40k's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Blakbird, what is a "4500kV brushless motor"? That means four and a half million volts in my line work No, LEGO 'copters will never fly with the current parts. Of course if more sofisticated controls, bearings and what not are introduced, who knows? But today the atemp is futile -
I see what you did there ..

1h 2013 sets
1974 replied to daniele's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As we can not use foul language here, I'm going to say this grey issue is something that might come out of the behind of an animal (humans included) Since there's no substantial info here, I reckon the thread should be closed, no? Let's enjoy the sets that are barely out. We have LOTS more to talk about regarding the crawler and the chopper .. let's concentrate on that shall we? Those sets are damn cool and there'll be mocs from here to next year So this thread is silly, imho Again, imho - sorry if I stepped on any toes -
None of the above It's light grey Light grey bricks'n'plates (in larger quantities) was first introduced with that theme. Pretty much all of the early classic space components was also light grey Edit : Have a look yourself .. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catString=34.314&catType=S&v=1 There's no yellow classic space. Unless you mean minifigs. Is that what this thread/poll is about?
