No. I don't know what the exact name is, so I just typed something that sounded right, hence "thingy." -

Was that before or after her movie or the Super Hero Girl Friends thingy were announced? Those might have changed things. -

I think Superman looks good with the boots, he just needs a hip piece. So many of the other JLA members have them now (except Flash who arguably needs them to most, after Wonder Woman) that he looks plain next to them. It probably doesn't help that he's the only one without his modern costume, either. I'd hope they would use gold for the aforementioned Shazam (at least assuming it will be his modern costume and not classic...that might be foolish of me) but maybe Firestorm? I think he's got a decent shot at appearing since he is a part of The CW's Arrowverse. Atom and Black Canary would be nice too. If they could put Hawkman in a set, who has had almost no exposure outside of comics recently, then those three should have some sort of chance. I imagine that dual-molded legs would be more expensive than regular ones, but because it requires some sort of dual molding. Just speculating, I don't actually know how the cost would be factored. I could see Spider-Man's legs being reused for a New 52 Superman, though. It also wouldn't surprise me if his BVS minifigure next year has boots to differentiate him from the MOS figure (since the costumes are so similar). Let's see: This year, Marvel had a pretty large toyline for Avengers, a single tie-in for Ant-Man, and a couple of sets for USM. Maybe if BVS doesn't get as many sets as AoU did (which might be reasonable, depending on how many things Bats and Supes have to punch besides each other) then maybe we can get sets for BVS, a couple for Suicide Squad, and some comic book Justice League. Or, we can dream about it all. That's nice too, at least until we wake up. -

We're still waiting for Bizarro, so I'm not going to hold my breath for Cheetah. It is peculiar that she is the only actual character who doesn't have a real minifigure though, so never say never.... The character designs for that movie are strange. Grodd, Sinestro, Luthor, Joker, Penguin, and Manta look right. Martian Manhunter is an official design, but it's the polybag one (maybe for New 52 synergy though). Flash has boots (!?), Batman briefly has an old design in the trailer, but the New 52 one with the old cowl and blue highlighting seems to be what he is supposed to have, and Wonder Woman has trunks instead of pants (and changes from silver to gold at one point). Superman uses his LB3 design, while Green Lantern, Cyborg, Deathstroke, and Captain Cold actually look like LB2. Probably out of respect for Hamill's decision to retire his iteration of Joker. -

I think that would technically be an illegal connection though. Hands always come assembled to torsos. But even then, if they are going to have to introduce a bar with a special hole and a hook separate from a torso, they might as well just mold the cane. -

It's catchy and intriguing, whereas Task Force X sounds kind of generic. TFX is better for a movie if they want to gear it towards kids, but that isn't the approach WB seems to be taking with this property. -

Of course the movie is going to be pushed, but it depends where and how they want to push it. That strategy might include official LEGO sets, but it also might not. Harley classically dresses in red and black, but the movie is going with red and blue which has been used somewhat sporadically in the last few years, notably with The New 52's Suicide Squad. Aside from the hair and makeup (which I like being paler) I agree that black would probably look better. You didn't forget the Zombie Cheerleader already, right? They would surely use it for Harley this time...maybe. I don't know much about mold engineering, but if that one has three injection points (which I think is a lot), they could do a blended effect on the pigtails, kind of like they do with the Elves hair, some BIONICLE masks, or lightning pieces. If not, they could probably just paint the pigtails and though it might not look quite as good, I'm sure it would still make for a good minifigure (unless they mess up somewhere else). -

I'm still pulling for comic sets, but I would really love Katana in that costume. Harley with dipped pigtails in a regular set would be great, too. (That'll probably happen with the Super Hero Girls, but I'm betting those will be mini-dolls. I've bought a couple Friends and Elves sets, but minifigure ones are easier for me to justify....) -

I'm pretty sure Bart has been drawn with reddish hair before. Anyway, I agree that it really wouldn't matter whichever one it is as long as they go with the Pre-52 costume (which I would expect as long as LEGO actually has the freedom to choose; the rebooted outfits for both of them are pretty awful). And yeah, Blue Beetle too, please! -

Oh, sorry if that wasn't clear of me. Let me explain in more detail: Sometimes people assume that when the movies come out, it will generate more of an interest in characters aside from Batman, and I listed Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Green Lantern because they inhabit pretty distinctive fantasy worlds which would be great to explore both on screen and in brick. But since MOS was divisive and the BVS trailer has made it clear that it is going to explore some darker themes, it seems surefire that the movies will not have the same kid/family appeal that the Marvel ones do, so there won't be much interest among the target audience. I could be wrong though, since I think that it was The Dark Knight which brought Batman back to the forefront of pop culture, and maybe even the reason we got this theme, though that isn't the most kid friendly movie around, so maybe the same thing could happen with the Justice League movies. Again though, Nolan's movies were received very well, and if the new movies continue to be divisive (as MOS was) then that might not happen.... Eh, I don't know. Apparently it wasn't even relevant to your point, though it is one that people sometimes bring up when we have the diversity discussion. I guess I just got carried away...and then did it again when I tried to explain myself. Sorry. :P I think that clip from The Simpsons explains those variants well. It keeps people buying more, when another Batman might have been a turn off. There are kids who will only get one set sometimes, but maybe that new hat could help convince them to buy a second. Action figures are notorious for that sort of marketing.Yep, new and cool looking characters can sell, but if they are untested, it is still a risk compared to someone like Batman, who can easily be used as a crutch, especially since he is established as having an array of vehicles. You don't have to justify yourself. I don't think that there's anything wrong with your behavior, I'm just playing devil's advocate. :P Yeah, I agree, but it's easy for Batman to steal the scene. He's popular, and his vehicles make it easy to come up with a main build for the set. I wouldn't have minded if the Grodd set had some sort of playset though; we're missing one this wave. I think that the fact that LEGO stopped making generic white clone troopers with the CW sets after a couple of years supports my point. They figured that people got tired of getting the same old thing with characters who, for the most part, are supposed to be the same old thing. If they feel the need to mix up clone troopers, surely they are going to do the same thing with Batman. It's to keep things fresh for people who already have "the old hat." Yep, you'll see characters like Luke Skywalker more often than Rotta the Hutt, but that's because Luke is must have and needs to be on the market at all times so that kids have a chance to (pay to) get him. Rotta on the other hand? Not so many people care about him. The reason that Luke isn't in every set is because the line doesn't rely on him to singlehandedly sell everything. Star Wars has a diverse range of personalities not only among its characters (though it is a great example of characters who look cool but being unknown selling, like you mentioned), but also its scenarios and vehicles. So, Luke is dispersed to make the expensive sets more attractive, while the others can often get by because of cool (if not insignificant characters) and the fact that it is Star Wars. That name means a lot more than Luke and his friends, it is basically selling a universe. I think that "Star Wars" itself explains what you are buying: star wars. DC isn't so simple. It is true that the DC multiverse is broader, but that kind of backfires for marketing it in the same way as Star Wars. This world is so divided just at the surface (and not only by time periods, like Star Wars) between Batman (gritty crime), Wonder Woman (fantastical myth), Superman (classic sci-fi and mad science), and Green Lantern (emotional caricatures battling in outer space) with their disparate settings, tones, and adventures, it's harder to sell under one moniker. Plus, again, DC lacks a lot of realistic set potential. There are plenty of good playsets which could be produced, hypothetically, but not a lot of vehicles. It's more about the characters and their worlds. Does that make sense? I'm not sure I'm explaining this so well. Yep, very true, but Star Wars is a proven brand, and most of DC's worlds aren't, aside from Gotham. I agree, and I think that some sets from this last wave (Brainiac, Darkseid) are really good examples of that. It's easy to use Batman as a crutch though, and LEGO and DC have both fallen into that unfortunate trap from time to time. I do think that DC is trying to do better, so maybe LEGO will follow, but I'm not so optimistic that they can actually establish other heroes as toy brands. That's what they have to do, establish each hero as their individual brand, unless they want them to stay in Batman's shadow. Hey, you don't have to justify yourself. I think that almost everybody wants more of the universe explored in their sets, I'm just playing devil's advocate and trying to make sense of why they haven't and might not. -

Not so much a Batman clone army as his gadgets, costumes, vehicles, and villains. Unlike most other DC characters, he has both good set potential and a really strong brand. It isn't just another Keaton Batman that was thrown into the Justice League sets, but a spacesuit, a mech, a Robin variant, and a submarine. Yeah, it's repetitive for us, but a lot of kids aren't going to be collecting the entire line, especially over four years. Star Wars has become something that is just as much about intergalactic battles, sci-fi armies, cool spaceships, and obscure aliens as it is its stronger characters. Basically, the brand is built around an entire world. The world is iconic, and the world sells. Of course faces like Yoda and Vader are going to be more coveted than Nien Numb or Jedi Bob, so the popular characters are dispersed accordingly, often to sell the larger sets. As for the DC Universe, only Gotham is really iconic. Maybe if WB manages to establish Wonder Woman's mythic realms, Aquaman's Atlantis, and Green Lantern's emotional spectrum into popular worlds of their own, there will be more potential, but even as someone who is optimistic about the MoS-verse, I don't really see that happening. -

How about even more JL members? :P Or Teen Titans? I liked the suggestion that maybe Flash could get some sets too.... Alfred really should have been released by now, and I actually do want Huntress and Red Hood, but I'm still really burnt out on Batman after the terrible wave last year. If they could make it fresh, okay, I guess that would be fine, but nothing that they have ever released aside from the funhouse has ever instilled much confidence that they could go whole sets without having the batmobile, batplane, or batboat eat up a good chunk of the parts count. And then, on top of that, they usually aren't very good builds. Gotham City might be the most interesting part of the DCU, but I think that this last wave was a large step in the right direction in showing that there are other places to explore, and I would hate for the line to revert back...at least with the comic sets. Maybe the movie ones will keep things fresh to some extent.... -
Can we please keep that banner for a few days? It's a thing of beauty.

Um, Black Canary's fishnets are back, so I guess that would be sexier than the weird padding she has had the last few years? I don't see what that has to do with Starfire deciding Earth is a little chilly though? I hate "sexy" costumes as much as the next guy (er, maybe it depends on the next guy), but DC gets rid of one of the worst offenders (Starfire was possibly only second to Star Sapphire, and she has been covered head to toe since the reboot) and you just complain about it in a roundabout way because they might do something stupid later? No wonder we can never be happy. :/ -

For a building? BvS might be a good chance for the Daily Planet, since I think the Bugle has retired (and if not, it ought to be by next year) and it is long overdue for something so iconic. -

From what I understand, part of the point of the post convergence DCU is to do something different with the characters. Not that that excuses the awful costumes they are wearing. I do like what we've seen of Black Canary's costume, and it's nice that Starfire actually has clothes on, but that's about it. I don't think that we will be getting minifigures based on these designs.... -

I don't think that they would do an enclosed building. I think it would be more like the Batcave than anything else we have had, unless they do go more of an Arkham route and make it big. Either way, I really like the idea of a Belle Reve set. It sounds fun, and it might even be possible since Arkham has been retired recently. -

I can't believe that LEGO actually went with the Nu Dick Grayson Robin. I think that it looks pretty bad (red, dark green, and black) but at least they left off the crotch arrow and we are getting a second green mask. Deathstroke's head is a little disappointing, but the minifigure really did come out very nicely. I like the batboat from the Mr. Freeze set more, but I think that this one is pretty solid. The mobile crime lab is a nice touch. It would be nice if we could get a Batmobile with one of those, but it would probably take up too much space. Jokerland looks much better than the prelim images made it out to be, but I'm still wary of the price. Reused Ivy is disappointing, and I don't like Harley much either. Her face and legs are good, but her torso is really plain (I'm not even sure what it is supposed to be emulating, I was hoping for her roller derby crop top, but it doesn't look much like her corset either) and the hat just doesn't look right. It would be nice in addition to a proper hairpiece, but instead, it is really disappointing. Oh well. I don't really care for the dual-toned pigtail look anyway. Beast Boy and Starfire are amazing. Also, I hope that they fix Batman's flesh fever by the time these sets are released. He looks darker than Starfire.
