LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
SoupOrFishOil replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I'm not saying what should or shouldn't be done, just that I'd rather play as Condiment King or Mr. Polka-Dot than guys who are essentially just gunslingers (and Ra's Al Ghul, whose sword has done even less in the past). I didn't get a whole lot of play value from Ra's or Hush in the last two games, so I won't be too disappointed if by some miniscule chance they don't return, and Black Mask and Scarface aren't added. -

Eh, other than Clayface (if he gets some new mechanics), I would rather play as Condiment King than those characters. :P -
I suppose that means that the rest of the packet was true too? Edit: Speaking of which, does anyone have that link saved? I'm not sure how many pages to go back to find it.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SoupOrFishOil replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
I hope to Grodd that those prices are true. That was what I was expecting for Manta, but I think that for the Grodd set that is spectacular, the Darkseid one is reasonable (because of all the new molds). That's not something you hear every day. :P -
DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SoupOrFishOil replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm very satisfied, except for the piece counts. If the Manta set is going to be $40 (I think that is what we heard or predicted somewhere) then that one is okay, but the Grodd and Darkseid ones? Not so much. The minifigures are amazing though, even Darkseid. I'm happy to see Wonder Woman in pants, even if it is inaccurate. I was going to do that myself anyway. Captain Cold, Cyborg, and the Truck Driver look good too (his hair is a saving grace) but I am most excited for Green Arrow and Hawkman. Arrow could really use some leg printing, but otherwise both of them look amazing. Aside from the Javelin, the builds leave something to be desired, but ah well. -
I'm already forgetting. :P I like the prelim one much more, but the red one is starting to grow on me. The gold one does look fat though. Kopaka looks amazing. Yeah, the lower legs are weird, but that will be an easy fix. I really like Gali's color scheme, even though if I had one collective issue with these sets, it is how many metallics they use. The Kaukau looks pretty good (though I may still like the original more) and even if she isn't overtly feminine (which is fine), at least she doesn't look masculine like the Mistika version. Pohatu has the best mask, and his colors look better than I thought too, even though I am sure tan would be so much better. He may be my favorite. I'll still wait for a review on LOSS, but I want to skip him. I'll at least wait until later in the year. And as for Lewa...I don't like him. Though the imaginative color scheme is good, I'm not so sure it looks too great, and the shoulder pads are making me think of one of those neck pillows, and I don't care for the look of the axes. The mask almost looks like one from a Hordika set. The golden one almost has a smile, but it really looks like a frown on the actual model...I'm pretty disappointed with it, since the original Miru is my favorite mask. Maybe it will grow on me like the Hau is, and I'll still get the set, but right now I'm not too excited for him.... Tahu looks great, though I am still getting used to the Hau. Otherwise he hasn't changed much from the prelim, and he still looks good. He has lowered on my list seeing how great Kopaka, Gali, and Pohatu look though. I'm looking forward to seeing Onua and the protectors soon!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
SoupOrFishOil replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Unfortunately, it isn't possible. -
I bought one back in March, but I don't remember it too well. I only vaguely recall that it was awkward to open, and I don't think it flattened well. I'd go for pouches, myself, but it was still better than a blister pack, and it does have a unique shape for the shelf. That's probably the only issue I have with the pouches: I always find them crinkled and knocked over on store shelves.

I'll definitely make an effort to get all six Toa. I never took the chance to get a full team before, and I don't want to waste that opportunity again. I'll probably skip LOSS in hopes for better Summer villains. I haven't decided which Defenders I'll pick up yet, (if any, Toa and DC come first) but Stone would be top priority, then Ice, Earth, Fire, Water, and Jungle, in that order. Plot is a big factor for me, and it is a part of why I never did get into HF, though I regret it. I never thought of HF as being story driven, but I don't think that LEGO would reduce BIONICLE to that level on purpose, since having an original story was one of the whole points of it in the first place (otherwise they probably would have put Doo Heads into production instead). To be fair though, I guess that any franchise can be resorted to something like that IFB ending in the wrong hands, or even when a talented team isn't given enough to work with. Actually, because of that, I don't see why a continuation would ensure that the story would not be "effortlessly simple." If anything, I might be more afraid of that happening if it wasn't a hard reboot, but maybe that's just me.... That is what I would mean by soft reboot, but everyone seems to have their own interpretations. I think Greg did refer to 2009 as a soft reboot.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SoupOrFishOil replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Brickia is probably wrong about the pricings, since it seems they used the rumored German ones and just used USD signs in their place. Looking at some prices that the Germans pay (59,99 € for the Steamroller or Krypton Dropship) it is possible that the US price will be 10 or more dollars cheaper than they are saying. I think that $50 would be fantastic, but that is probably expecting way too much. That darn civilian.... -
I thought Onua still had trans purple in these new images. His thigh bone sort of looks see-through on his right leg (his right) when it comes close to the waist. Maybe I'm mistaken though.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
SoupOrFishOil replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
Probably. But I doubt that all of those would drive the price up as much as the specialized molds in the Darkseid set, or Grodd himself. Even if this is the only set to use all of those transparent parts (which require new molds because of different plastic types) right now it will be easier to find another place to use them later than Hawkman's helmet or Darkseid's body, especially since those would be licensed. So, the set probably will not have to pay for all of those pieces. I'm not quite sure what you mean about the price though. The Darkseid set is more expensive. But if you mean that the build seems a bit insubstantial for the price, I would agree. I guess that is what happens with big figs though.... -

SoupOrFishOil replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
This discussion about which is more expensive seems a bit silly to me. I will admit that the difference in minifigures is sort of odd, but hasn't the Darkseid set always been listed for a higher price than the Grodd one? It was on that NZD list, and I am pretty sure the German website was also that way. Plus, the Darkseid set probably has more molds, with Hawkman's helmet and wings (?), Cyborg's faceplate, and Darkseid himself, whereas the Grodd one only seems to have Grodd. (Some parts of the Invisible Jet might be "new" molds for older elements but in trans, but those probably are not planned to remain unique to the set forever.) -

I like the sets, even the bat-vehicles look either fun or like good parts packs to me. The invisible jet may be small, but I think it is adorable. The only vehicle I am really disappointed with right now is Manta's sub, but I am sure it will look better after being plastered in stickers. As already established, the minifigure line-up is exceptional. Captain Cold, Hawkman, and Green Arrow are fantastic surprises. I hope this trend continues in future waves, because we can really use a few more women. Edit: Prices aren't so great, but I guess that all of the minifigures and molds will do that. :P -
I have internet problems for two days and this happens? I've spoilered my thoughts, because they got sort of long.

That was in an adult targetted set, but even then, that's an action he performed, not part of the character design. The very appearance of faceless Joker is nightmarishely gnarly and disturbing. -

I don't think that the Brickset user said the Javelin was in the Brainiac set. I think that was something we speculated when we saw the video game model of the Javelin and realized it could be an official design. Of course I could be wrong though. -

Two years ago would probably be enough of a gap to be considered "not anytime soon," plus that was his classic costume when a new figure would probably be the rebooted one. Though if the figure has stubble, it probably isn't him. The face could be a stand in though. Do you have any idea what color clothes or what hair piece he had? -

Thanks once again! Captain Cold is spectacular news, and I guess that does open up J'onn to be in the Brainiac set. White man with black hair could be almost anybody though. Maybe Shazam at best and Robin at worst? -

I wonder who the green guy in the Darkseid set is then. I can't think of many people it could be besides Brainiac or J'onn.... -

Oh, there is a fifth set. That's great. I hope that that Brickset user was wrong about the minifigures though: Supergirl would be a great addition (we really need more women), but I hate that crotch clamp that her New 52 look has, and it doesn't look too great in the video game images either. Ah well. At least this confirms Brainiac, and likely a new Martian Manhunter! -

Yeah, but LEGO's pricing in countries isn't a straight up conversion based on the value of the US dollar to the value of the NZ dollar (or any other currency). I took those prices straight from Shop at Home by comparing the pricing of sets between the two countries, and that's what I got. That isn't to say I didn't make an error, but I'm pretty sure that they are for the most part in a pretty compact range.
