  1. Hmmm, very interesting, derived from wheat. Thanks for pointing this out. I wonder how the durability compares. Does anyone know if they want to make these biodegradable? Because if so, the durability cannot be the same.
  2. In all fairness, it's the random generator's fault. It pitted two of the greatest sci-fi contenders against one another. And now, there's a big chance that there we won't be any in round 2. Although the Galaxy Patrol and Space Miner are strong contenders. OK, so interesting stats after the halfway point in round 1: 1. We're now halfway through the groups. Yaaaay! 2. All the numbered series but Series 1 and 4 have had a victory, and so far it looks like impending doom for S1 with its last candidate about to lose. S4 also seems headed for a loss in group 33, leaving it with a mere 6 candidates. However, 4 of those are pretty strong contenders: the monster, the werewolf, hazmat guy, and gnome. 3. Only special series with at least one victory is TLM, with only one victory. Team GB seems bound for elimination with only the gymnast remaining. DFB has only 5 candidates remaining after brutal group 32 eliminated 3 of its players all at once. Simspons 2, TLBM, and Disney haven't even used half of their contenders, so it's still possible for them to score a victory. However, Simpsons 1 only has 6 contenders left, and I expect both Simpsons series to be fully eliminated, judging by the poor performance of all of their candidates. 4. Highest number of wins: 4 (Series 6 and 7). Only Series 10 has 3 wins. Series 2, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 have 2 wins each. 3, 5, 8, 9, and TLM have 1 each. So it seems people have a preference for the newer, regular series. 5. Highest win percentage: 66.7%, for Series 7, with 4 wins out of 6. This is the only series that has won a majority of its matches. Series 6, 10, 11, and 12 have a success rate of 50% each. So overall, the strongest performances have come from Series 6 and 7. Which makes sense, because I remember those being regarded as some of the best series by a lot of people. It'll be interesting to see how the stats progress, especially after Disney and TLBM play more.
  3. I had something great happen to me today, so I'll try to see if I can find myself a retro spaceman to commemorate it and celebrate. Wish me luck!
  4. Oh no! Spaceman was soooo close! Tisk tisk, those of you who voted for the Intergalactic Girl... Anyways, although I feel really bad for S1, I have to vote with my Lego heart, and it points undoubtedly to the Skeleton Guy.
  5. Ehhh, honestly, people from small countries usually get screwed over when that kind of thing happens, since they're the most likely to not be represented. As a result I probably wouldn't be a fan.
  6. Well, I honestly just hope that someone at TLG has been aware of how much we've talked about a Brick Suit minifig, so that even if we don't get it in S18, it comes at some point. They have to do it! And honestly, I didn't realize how well the proportions worked until I saw this sketch.
  7. Crap. For a while it looked like we were close. Come on people. How could you say no to this beautiful arm printing?
  8. It is very sad that the intergalactic girl and the spaceman we pinned against each other, since no sci-fi figure has won yet. But the spaceman edges out the intergalactic girl with his superior level of detail. If you're a space fan and want a space figure to win, vote spaceman! We need to be united to beat this pirate wannabe! One more vote and we'll tie!
  9. Too bad, while we were arguing on who's the best goalkeeper in the world, the farmer sneaked around and took the lead. It's an unexpected upset for sure. Last minute voters will decide this one for sure.
  10. About the Brick Suit Minifigure: So @Robert8 and @Loki221978 posted on the S17 thread some pics of concepts of several suited minifigs. It's relevant because the Rocket Suit Boy and Penguin Suit are featured and the design is almost identical to what we got, and the picture was posted in mid 2016. So, I went to that user's (Lemonution) Flickr, and guess what else I found...
  11. Holy cow! I agree with @Robert8. I wouldn't be surprised if we see several of those designs in S18! This gives me hope that Lego can keep up with expectations for S18. But yeah, @Loki221978, you should post those on the S18 thread so we can discuss it there. I'm sure it'll hype up some people.
  12. Oh no! Farmer is catching up! Just when I thought the minotaur had nailed it! Traitor! (Just kidding, I know you'll get the joke).
  13. Sorry to bump this, but since it was probably posted at a time I wasn't as active in the forum, I missed it. These look beautiful! Honestly, one of my dreams is for Lego to make the torsos and tanks in orange, purple, and gray. We're getting gray in S17, but without a corresponding tank (the old tanks have a different tone). Of course, that can always be fixed with paint, as you did. Thanks for the beautiful pics. Gotta love classic spacemen, some of the best minifigures in history!
  14. Probably everyone has different opinions, but to me the only legit space themes were those spanning Classic Space through insectoids. Life on Mars felt like a good spin-off, but the only modern space theme that I really liked was Space Police III. (In fact, I used to feel pretty strongly about this). I do feel that Galaxy Squad has some great designs, but maybe I don't really follow it because I'm too busy collecting minifigs from the CMF line and licensed themes. Although I'm an avid SW minifig collector and fan, I think most of the builds in SW sets are unappealing. Aside from the X-wing, the UCS R2, the Millennium Falcon, and a couple other sets, to me most of the ships feel too gray and unexciting, at least when compared to the classic space theme spaceships. Personally, I like to get myself a retired Space set every once in a while (even though I'm pretty satisfied with my modest Space collection), when I find space (no pun intended) in my budget. Although I'd love to see more ships on the level of Benny's spaceship or the main ship from SP III (both of which I actually couldn't pass up), my wallet is already so drained by all of my Lego interests, that I don't mind waiting a few more years to see one. I'd also like to save some of my money to get a Lego pirate ship, which has been one of my dreams for years. So to me, whenever Lego doesn't release something that I want, the silver lining is that they already release much more things that I like than what I can afford. I understand that SW has hurt the space line. It really has. And we'll have to wait some more years, maybe even a decade, for Lego to release multiple space themes simultaneously like they did in the 80s and 90s. It kinda sucks, but hey, if you have the money, at least you can either buy other things they have, or get yourself some sweet retired space sets. Plus, it's Lego, so you can always build the spaceships they don't make. Besides, if you're like me and are a fan of both Space and SW, just be happy about the things that we actually get. Just my thoughts!
  15. This was the round that the S1 nurse needed! Weak, weeeeaaak round. Easy win for the Minotaur, I think. I wish the clockwork robot had it this easy.
  16. This is always a tricky subject. As everything, it boils down to supply vs. demand. Certainly, there will be lots of peeps who missed out and who will want to get their hands on these figures. However, Dimensions (it seems) has been not as successful as Lego wanted, with TRU even having a 50% sale a couple of weeks ago. So Lego might have overproduced. At the same time, I remember the reason Cloud City is so valuable is because of its exclusive figures and its limited run due to it being a badly received set. Honestly, it's hard to tell. I'd probably pick a couple but not make a huge investment. I imagine there's a profit to be made, but I wouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket. Franchises that keep attracting younger audiences, such as Star Wars, Marvel, and DC, are probably better investments in my opinion.
  17. YAS!!! Thanks to you we have tied! Come on, now we only need some good samaritans to give the fly monster the win... This is close!
  18. Yeah, I was surprised by that too. Honestly I think the Babysitter is overrated. Although... I'd probably say any figure that has won against my pick is overrated.
  19. Well, TRU had everything Dimensions on 50% last week. I picked up a few good figures in that way (even though I can't play because I don't own a goddamn console ).
  20. You know, I'm starting to believe the explanation to my curse is that I'm not too much into the army-building figures. But come on people! The Fly Monster deserves this one! HEEEEELP HIIIIM...
  21. Fly Monster for me, and I realize I just made it tie with the gladiator. I'm hoping the army builders won't hijack this round too.
