For those of us who don't like Megabloks, that can actually be bad. For instance, I was outraged when Lego lost the Spider-Man 3 license to MB. I really wanted to get a Black Spider-Man minifigure.

Oh crap. It is such a bummer to even read this topic's title after today's news. -
Bricklink questions
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Buttons's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
My main Lego aim is minifigures, and when I buy on BL, the criteria that I use for stores goes something like this: -Availability of shipping to my country -Amount of items that the store has that are on my wanted list (in this case, several minifigs) -The price of those items when compared to other stores, including shipping and any additional fees -Feedback In addition, I usually contact all sellers with questions before I place an order. If the seller is too slow responding or doesn't answer my questions, I won't by from him or her. If the seller lacks communication skills when I am a potential buyer, I just can't imagine how bad could that be if I placed an order and had problems. Also, a definite hook in a seller is when he or she is willing to bargain. Most sellers who are willing to take less than the sum of the prices for a set of items in their store get a purchase from me. Finally, I would like to add that the stores that I compare are generally those that: a) have one of my most wanted items cheaper than most stores in BL or at a reasonable price, and b) are ranked top in stores with the most items in my wanted list. I use these two searches to begin to choose between stores. Hope this helps! Edit: #555 -

Well that's a relief, even if slight. I really hope they find new jobs. -
Lego Universe shutting down
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Pingles's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was a Beta tester, and in several occasions, I felt like there was nothing more to do. I didn't actually like the building experience. It wasn't the graphics, or the versatility of building. Rather, I found the controls too awkward, and I have actually built models in MLCAD. If you wanted to buy a single piece, you had to scroll all over all the pieces. Even though they had a certain logical order, categories would have helped much. However, I don't know if this was ever fixed, since I never paid for a game subscription. This is what kept me away from building in LU, and building was probably one of the strongest characteristics in LU. Furthermore, I didn't like to get to a point in which all remaining things to do are hang around, talk with people, collect stuff, and get achievements. In Beta, the game ran out of quests way too quickly. I acknowledge that Lego kept putting new quests in the game, but this was something that I was never able to experience. However, I still feel sad to see this game go. I have fond memories of it and I think that it could have been saved. Alas, good bye, LU! -
And we shouldn't forget that if Lego had no competition it would be probably be more expensive, so Mega Bloks might be saving us a few bucks when we buy Lego.

I've always loved these! To see them in Lego form is even more amazing. Can't wait for it to be done

Your thoughts on Universe
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Although I only played LU on Beta testing, and I never intended to buy a subscription, I have to admit that it's kind of sad to see this game go. Sure, it was full of flaws, but it was very innovative and I even have nice memories of it when I played. Farewell, LU. Let's hope that if Lego does attempt something like this again, they'll learn from their mistakes and it'll stay for good. -
Awesome! What about Pikachu? I know, it's a bit trite, but iconical and not pink nor purple, nonetheless .

Custom bricked Darth Vader minifigure
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Legostein's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
In an alternate universe where Lego still doesn't make any licensed figs, this is the closest things fans have got to a Darth Vader minifig. Interesting idea, and it's very nicely done. Thanks for sharing! -
The memories! Gotta build 'em all, huh? Great job and degree of accuracy. Thanks for sharing, and keep us updated on any future Pokemons!

They're looking good! I do feel like the Darth Vader figure needs some work. Keep it up! Thanks for sharing!

In my constant naïveness, whenever I see that there are new posts in this forum, I have the slightest faint of hope that it is solid evidence of a LOTR release and not apocryphal confirmations. It would be nice if people stopped posting questionable reports on this release before we see some strong evidence. Otherwise it's all especulation and rumours. @On Stranger Tides I am sorry if your sources are solid and you are actually right, but at the moment I have no reason to believe this is more reliable than that fake CMFS6 list that was posted on the internet some months ago.

I can understand that people are frustrated because their kids can't get the figure they want, often because of army builders. Alas, it is not incorrect to feel the packets per se: the problem is taking all of the figs of the same kind. I'm not saying that it is wrong, but it is objectionable, and I think that it would be nice from army builders to keep in mind that kids also want to get certain figs. Besides, as AFOLs, we have more sources to buy these figures from than the kids do. As for the "it's meant to be surprise" argument, I, quite frankly, don't find much sense in that. If you want to be suprised, then go ahead and buy packages without feeling. Otherwise, feel them. There is no law against it, you haven't signed a contract with Lego forbidding you from feeling them, and if Lego actually forbid this they would lose clients that would not be willing to buy if they weren't allowed to feel. And if you don't like your figures having been touched by other consumers, buy them on eBay. It's not like the plastic is that bad as to be damaged so easily. I always buy sealed sets on Bricklink, identified by feeling methods. It doesn't bother me that the seller touches the figs to identify them, and I have never found a fig in bad conditions because of that. Extensive feeling could have other effects, but as I mentioned, you can always buy from resellers.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

It's nice to get a heads up on these guys. The genie is my current favorite. Can't wait to just go to BL and grab 'em all. -
Thanks.

I'm sorry if this is off-topic, but does anyone know of big Bricklink stores that make discounts on Black Fridays/Cyber Mondays? I have saved a few bucks and would like to buy several astromechs and other figs, so I could use a good discount.

These are great! Do you think that you could show how the SW heads look on the actual minifigs?
-
Oh this is so cool! I had never seen a train incorporate animation. I think that your project is very original and well done. Kudos!

The only thing I'm reading right now is a 1000-word list for the SAT... :sigh:

Transparent Minfigs

Oh wow. I would love to own one of those. I would probably not break it, since it would be safe in a plastic baggie. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
You know, for a moment I had the opportunity of getting GL at $25, even with free shipping, and ultimately I decided against it. Unless you are a completitionist, there is nothing to worry about. We are looking at a multi-year deal that we already know is going to bring a GL action figure. I find it hard to imagine that we'll never get a GL minifig. Of course, it might be based on the comics and not on the movie. However, as I said, this should only worry you if you are a completitionist. -
I feel like Lego is going to try a lot of new stuff for Lego City, and I like it. Is it just me, or are these sets noticeably different from what we usually get in City?

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion

It's nice to get some unwatermarked images so many months before the release of series 7. I wonder what color the series 7 bags are going to be.
