LEGO Ninjago 2021
The Stud replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That Nya figure looks gorgeous! I’m guessing it comes in the Water Dragon, which is good for me as that one and the Temple are the only Seabound sets I’m for sure getting. (With the Lloyd mech and Hydro Bounty being maybes.) -

I never thought I’d see a Lego boat as gorgeous as 70618, but here we are! This looks stellar! -
Why did it take so long for LEGO to get into TV Shows?
The Stud replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That’s a good question. I guess there’s the possibility that they couldn’t find a studio or team of writers to help them get a television show to air. That’s definitely a plausible explanation but I don’t think that’s the main reason why Lego didn’t develop a series earlier on. I think the real reason is, from my point of view, Lego tends to be a little behind the times. That especially applies when it comes to media. For example, I don’t think Lego utilizes or engages with the vast community on Youtube very well. They really seem out of touch with the majority of Lego creators there and it doesn’t help that two of the biggest Lego channels left, or were let go, from their flawed Ambassador Network recently. I think the same sort of logic applies to why it took so long for Lego to develop television properties. All these other toy brands were releasing television programs that helped push their products, meanwhile Lego seemed content with commercials being their only presence on TV. For whatever reason, they waited to hop on the bandwagon several years after a lot of the other toy brands already had. I guess that they wanted to stick exclusively to play at that time, whether that be the physical toys or the video game market they started branching out into. Maybe the excutives at Lego weren’t ready to produce anything that their consumers couldn’t tangibly interact with, or just didn’t care to. I can’t help but wonder if Lego had found success on TV earlier on, would that have somehow helped them when they were nearing bankruptcy in the early 2000’s? Lo and behold, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu was released in 2011 and was obviously a massive success. The show and the physical sets resonated with fans young and old, and both remain popular to this day. I think Lego captured lightning in a bottle with Ninjago and haven’t been able to recapture it with their other properties. Besides Ninjago and some of the Star Wars shows, I don’t think Lego has found much luck in the television sphere. When it came to Galidor, Chima, Nexo Knights and Unikitty, neither the sets or the shows were very popular. I wonder if Lego would have even tried a television show again if Ninjago had been a failure. To recap, my personal theory as to why Lego didn’t develop a TV series sooner is because they are slow at adapting to trends and the executives at the time most likely didn’t see a TV series as something they wanted their brand to be involved with. This was definitely an interesting topic to think about. Thanks for bringing it up @Lego David! -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
The Stud replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
This whole situation was so confusing that I started getting a headache, but I’m glad that we have clarification now! The Disney+ set being based off of What If? is very surprising to me. I figured if there were to be a Disney+ series that Lego would skip covering, it would be that one. It’s a pleasant surprise and I’m excited to see the new Captain Peggy and Steve Rogers figures we get out of this! (I’m gonna guess that we’ll get a generic Hydra goon as an additional figure since we already know one is coming in the 4+ set.) I’m just a little perplexed as to why Lego is putting two very similar looking Marvel mechs out at the same time, but I’m excited for both nonetheless! The CMF series being Disney+ based is a dream come true for me. I have really wanted Lego to make more products based off the original Disney+ content (for both Star Wars and Marvel) and I’m glad to have confirmation that the Marvel CMF series will be MCU related. It’s a safe bet that Wanda, Vision, Bucky, Falcon, and Loki will probably be included, and I can definitely see us getting an Agatha figure as well. If my prediction is correct, then that means we have another half of the CMF series to speculate about. Personally, I really want Zemo, US Agent, and White Vision figures but I’m excited to see what we end up getting and what particular versions of the likely characters we end up getting. My hype for this summer Marvel wave continues to grow! -
I’m going back and getting a few of the many The Lego Batman Movie sets/CMFs I missed out on and I really think line is where this theme peaked. It’s really a shame, because I didn’t truly become a DC fan until this year (hence why I didn’t get too many TLBM sets back when they came out.) It’s sad, but hopefully Lego can turn this theme around like they’re reportedly doing with Marvel this year.

I don’t really have any connection to the original Space Jam outside of same vague memories of watching it when I was young. This new movie looks fine, but I feel every studio is trying to recapture the whole “most ambitious crossover event” now and it’s kinda getting old.

The Central Perk set was mostly sold out for months when it first came out (and that was BEFORE the pandemic where just about everything has been sold out at some point), so I guess Lego were quick to greenlighting this other set after they saw how popular the Ideas one was.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’m disappointed by the lack of a new Black Panther mask mold and T’Challa face print, but I’m still very excited for these new sets. I don’t have any Black Panther minifigures so I’m glad to be acquiring two of him this June regardless. -

Man, that’s a disappointment. This may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think the previous Black Panther minifigures look good with that ear piece. Having the Black Panther mask printed on his head doesn’t look right in my opinion. -

My hype for the Skywalker Saga has greatly diminished because of the lack of communication about it. I’m glad that they’re taking more time to fix the game rather than release an incomplete product, but being more transparent about the game instead of only talking about it every six months would be greatly appreciated by a lot of us I’m sure -

I took another look and you’re right: it’s the other way around! It’ll be cutting it close but as long as you take off the antennae on the Gardens then it should fit in there. Even then, it may be brushing right up against the top. One of the biggest problems a Lego collector can have: finding shelves that your sets can fit into! -

I think I’ll save Static Shock for some other time, but I definitely plan on watching those other shows! I think that I’m going to try to go in a chronological order and watch JL, JLU, Batman Beyond, Return of the Joker, and then that Epilogue episode from JLU. I also hope that the rumors of a BTAS revival are true, as I’d love to spend more time with those versions of the characters. I also want to watch Harley Quinn at some point, especially because I enjoyed the clips I’ve seen on Youtube but I’m not sure when I’ll get around to watching that one. I believe this new Avatar/Korra content is supposed to be on Paramount’s streaming service if I’m not mistaken, not Nickelodeon. The movie kicking it all off is supposed to be a theatrical release. Hopefully they won’t be as restricted as they were when they aired on the channel! I watched ATLA and TLOK for the first time last summer/fall and while I enjoyed them, I didn’t love them as much as lot of people seem to do. (I’m still disappointed that the ATLA submitted for Lego Ideas was rejected though.) So while I’m looking forward to watching this new content, I’m not overly excited about it. -
I don’t have a connection to Looney Tunes the way I do Disney, but this series looks almost as great! I don’t know if I’ll get the complete series (I can’t even name all the characters), but I can definitely see myself getting a few of them!
-
I’m planning on rewatching Friends soon, so this is perfect timing! The only problem is that I don’t have a clue where I’ll be able to put it. (The classic Lego fan dilemma!) A set twice the size of Central Perk wouldn’t fit in the cubby-style bookshelf I have the previous Friends set displayed on.

What was your first lego set?
The Stud replied to Chilly_Productions's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I believe it was Lego set 6186. Not really a noteworthy one, but it was the first of many! -
That’s quite a large quantity! I couldn’t imagine having that much of a Lego set. Are you wanting to use them for some sort of Classic Space MOC? Today, I finally got around to starting my Ninjago Season 13 collection with 71717 Journey to the Skull Sorcerer’s Dungeon. A pretty fun little build and I look forward to expanding the layout with some other sets! I also have a pending order for some TLBM sets and CMFs that I missed out on. I didn’t get too many sets from that line when they were out because I wasn’t as big of a superhero fan back then and I was prioritizing my Star Wars and TLNM collections.

I’ve been delving into the DC Universe this year and as part of that I’ve been getting into the DCAU. I’ve already watched through Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures and all three animated films that go with them. I’m in the process of watching Superman: The Animated Series. Coming from a guy who’s mostly been into the Marvel stuff, mostly the MCU, it’s pretty interesting to see a different take on superheroes! -
Up until recently, I hadn’t seen any DC movies besides The Lego Batman Movie and 2017 Justice League. I’ve been rectifying that and watched all of the live-action Batman movies from Batman 1989 to The Dark Knight Trilogy. Good stuff! I also watched 1978’s Superman: The Movie in preparation of starting Superman: The Animated Series since I didn’t have too much familiarity with the character.

In terms of height, it looks like they should fit. Width-wise, though, I’m not sure if you’d be able to fit all three sets in there side-by-side. -
What is the oldest Lego set you have seen in a shop?
The Stud replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in Community
I found and picked up a Lego Batman Movie set at a Walmart somewhat near me back in February. It was a slightly damaged 70902 Catwoman Catcycle Chase just laying in front of some recent Marvel and DC sets. I think it must have been found under a shelf or something since that particular location has been moving stuff around recently. Also my Barnes and Noble tends to have a few older sets in the Lego aisle. They still have some 2019 Ninjago sets, DC Super Hero Girls set (41233 Lashina Tank), 41954 Captain Salazar Brickheadz and a trio of 75119 Jyn Erso Buildable Figures. Until recently, they also still carried 70606 Spinjitzu Training from The Lego Ninjago Movie.- 7 replies

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread

While constructing the Ninjago City Gardens, I made some progress on my Ninjago rewatch. I got through Seasons 5 and 6, watched Day of the Departed, and got through the first two episodes of Season 7. Rewatching Season 5 was very nostalgic for me. I first got into Ninjago in 2015, so Seasons 4 and 5 hold a special place for me. I haven’t seen this season in years so it was nice to go back and rewatch it. I don’t have much to say about it, but it’s definitely one of my favorite seasons. Season Six gets a lot of flak, but I found myself really enjoying it when I watched it this weekend. I only saw these episodes as they were posted on Youtube in early 2016, so my memory of this season was very foggy. I guess it’s not too surprising that I found myself enjoying this one, since Jay and Nya are my two favorite characters and the season revolves around them and their relationship. I think Nadakhan is one of the best Ninjago villains and I hope he returns in a future season. I want a Legacy Misfortune’s Keep even more now! Day of the Departed was as underwhelming as I remembered it to be. Again, I only saw this special when it aired and that was it. It has great character development for Cole and it’s cool to see certain villains return, especially getting a bit of a redemption for Morro, but the rest of the special feels pretty half baked. I suppose that’s understandable since they had to rush it out when The Lego Ninjago Movie got delayed a year. It gave me one of my favorite Ninjago waves ever though, as well as some of my favorite Ninja outfits, so no complaints here! I’m only two episodes into Season Seven and find it to be decent so far. I don’t remember being too fond of this one when I watched it (again, I’ve only seen it once) so it’s at least better than I was expecting. If I’m being honest though, I’m ready to get past it and onto what I consider the peak of Ninjago: Seasons 8 and 9.- 4,591 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021
The Stud replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
^I just finished the Gardens yesterday as well. I was very impressed by the creative building techniques. It might even surpass the original City in terms of out-of-the-box part usage and color palette. The set is massive and looks great side by side with the original City and my TLNM Destiny’s Bounty. I also think that it’ll go down as the best set of 2021 and, for me personally, it’s the best set Lego has put out since the underrated Welcome to Apocalypseburg. (Something about this $300-350 sets just makes them winners.) I defended the minifigure selection of the set when we first saw pictures of it, as that was probably the most divisive part of the set. Now that I have it in hand, I do have to say that the civilian figure selection is rather generic. I binge watched the show during part of the time I built the set and couldn’t help but think of figures they could have included instead. Oh well, that’s just a nitpick! -
Disney Properties 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I think once the Disney Castle is retired, then that will make room for a Disneyland Castle. I don’t think Lego would want both on shelves at the same time, and I imagine that Disney/Lego would want the 2016 Castle still around for another year to coincide with Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. Maybe for the 2025 Disney Parks D2C? (Which would be nine years since Lego released the Cinderella Castle and first CMF series which is just bonkers to me.) Personally, I’m hoping for Space Mountain or EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth next, though I still need to get the Castle and decide if I’m getting the Train Station or not. -
The ‘66 Batmobile looks fantastic! I’m glad that it has a little display stand and hope they continue making different versions of the Batmobile in this format. Like others have been saying, I’m disappointed by the lack of Robin. I’ll just have to Bricklink the 2016 figure I suppose. No interest in the 4+ set though.
