  1. I’ve been keeping up with the set pictures for the new movie and I have to say that I’m feeling very excited for it. There’s some real talent involved and I feel like they are all going to do their best to make this a fitting finale for Indiana Jones rather than the fourth one. That being said, a huge part of the reason why I’ve been excited for this film is the potential Lego sets we could get out of it. I was young when the original sets came out, so I passed on most of them in favor of City sets and only ended up getting three Indiana Jones sets (and two of them were from KotCS.) I’m just eagerly awaiting for confirmation of the theme’s return, which this upcoming Lego Con would be a perfect place to make such an announcement even though my expectations for that are low and still think it would be highly unlikely. The conundrum of including Nazi and Soviet soldiers is a tough one, and I hope they aren’t excluded as that would be very disappointing in my opinion. As long as they don’t specify their faction, I don’t see what the problem would be. It wouldn’t be based on the real world soldiers themselves technically, just fictional versions of them, though that distinction is minimal. I mean, Disney themselves have “watered down” versions of the Nazis at their Indiana Jones stunt show in the parks and sell merchandise there, so doing Lego sets like that shouldn’t be much different. Worst case, Lego just makes the theme “18+” and maybe only puts them out at Lego Stores and online, kinda like what they did with Monkie Kid. I hope they don’t do the same approach they went with for Pirates of the Caribbean where they just put out a D2C and some Brickheadz, but I could see that being the case unfortunately.
  2. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Universal isn’t really known for making animated movies and the two major animation studios they own (Illumination and Dreamworks) tend to be regarded as studios that make mediocre movies with a few exceptions. That alone makes me nervous for the Lego film franchise being under “new management”. While I feel that Warner Bros peaked with their first Lego entry, I still think that all four films (including Ninjago to a degree) turned out to be good, well-made movies and are better than most of the animated movies put out by the studios that aren’t Disney or Pixar. What it came down to in the end was poor decisions by Warner Bros, which I could take about at length despite my enjoyment of each of their movies. I really wish we were living in that other timeline where The Lego Ninjago Movie and The Lego Movie 2 were both smash hits and The Lego Batman Sequel and The Billion Brick Race were guaranteed with more on the way. It’s a humongous shame. Honestly, this is really plausible. While I’m not a fan at all of this concept, I would at least appreciate Universal for trying something new instead of just copying what Warner Bros did animation-wise. I have a feeling that Universal is going to start fresh with their Lego movies so no Emmet, no Wyldstyle and no Batman. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried a Ninjago movie again though, assuming that it’s still popular with the kids by the end of this decade. Michael Waldron, head writer for the Loki series, posted about this film as well with the cover for the script of “Lego Superfriends”. Hopefully the full thing leaks or is released to the public someday, along with concept art. I’m also reading that Lex Luther and OMAC would have been the main villains and it seems like the idea of a Marvel crossover was potentially thrown around!? Man, I really wish we could have seen this come to fruition.
  3. I think the 10th Anniversary of Ninjago could be a factor contributing to a potential rise in popularity for the theme. I’ve seen a lot of teenagers or young adults who grew up with the show that are old enough to have nostalgia for it, as well as them now having the funds to buy more of the sets. I mean for me personally, I would probably fall into that demographic. I was huge into Ninjago from 2015 through 2018 and after that, my interest in the theme fizzled out for a few years up until the recent 10th Anniversary wave. I got all of those sets and have gone on to get Ninjago City Gardens, all of The Island sets and even went back to get some sets from last year that I skipped out on. I also plan on getting most of, if not all of, the summer wave because my reinvigorated enjoyment of the theme continues to carry on. I’m sure I’m not alone in that and it probably wouldn’t have happened if not for the 10th Anniversary festivities. I’d say Lego has done a good job taking advantage of this occasions with multiple short films, in-store promotions and even clothing brand collabs. They’ve arguably been promoting the theme the most it’s been since the movie came out. The Ninjago show also seems to be doing well on Netflix as I often see it in the “trending” tab whenever I hop on the app. Again, because of the 10th Anniversary, I’ve been slowly rewatching the show this year which I imagine is what a lot of other folks are doing. Adding the show onto Netflix is probably also helping it gain more popularity with kids as Cartoon Network has been doing an atrocious job at airing the show in America. Most kids are probably watching the show on Netflix at thus point as it’s far more accessible.
  4. This was actually three days ago but I’ll share here anyway. I’m visiting New York right now and without checking beforehand, I tried going to two different Lego locations that were closed. (You’d have thought that I would have learned my lesson the first time.) I did end up finding a third location that was open and very well-stocked I might add. While there, I purchased: -853758 Jay’s Kendo Training Pod (I mostly just picked this up because Jay is my favorite ninja and I was amazed that this Lego Store still had this set three years later.) -A damaged and discounted 40516 Everyone is Awesome. -71747 The Keepers’ Village -71748 Catamaran Sea Battle -10292 The Friends Apartments -30343 McLaren Elva polybag promotion (technically my first Speed Champions set?) -40490 Ninjago Legacy 10th Anniversary Brickheadz promo
  5. “It was a story about the Justice League and where Batman was in terms of the Justice League now, and the struggles they were going through, as well as flashing back to how the Justice League came together. [It also featured] Batman and Superman’s relationship, as well as Batman’s relationship to a lot of the other members of the Justice League. And Robin, obviously, there was a really great part for Robin.” - Chris McKay Personally, I think this movie sounds like it could have been really fun, and a natural continuation to the series. Between this and the Billion Brick Race (which also sounded interesting to me), we could have gotten some really cool sets, which may be what I miss most about these Lego Movies now that they’re gone. (For now anyway, though I am more than a bit nervous about Universal’s plans for the property.)
  6. Well, I was planning on buying the Apartments at the Lego Store in Rockefeller Center yesterday but to my surprise… that store doesn’t exist currently. (They’re in the process of relocating very close by.) Hopefully I’m able to make it to a different Lego Store sometime in the next couple days. I also read the Brickset review of the set the other night and I absolutely love the “Leg Godt” sticker inclusion!
  7. I hope they’ll fix the color of the jetpack and helmet if they wind up doing any Book of Boba Fett sets. As great as this new figure is, it bugs me more each time I look at it. I also feel like the official Cara Dune figure is fine as it is, though I do think the face print is a little over-detailed.
  8. I’m personally not too hyped for What If?, even though I am still looking forward to it, so it’s kind of a bummer for me that Lego is putting much more of an emphasis on that show, with it taking up almost half of the CMF series and getting two entire sets based off of it (repetitive sets at that). Despite being a bit disappointed in the finales for both, Wandavision and FATWS were shows I enjoyed and was invested in, so it’s a bummer that we’re only getting five CMFs total between the two of them. Granted, those minifigures will probably be much more detailed compared to if they were included in sets but there is so much more they could do for both shows. I’m still glad that we’re getting the WW2 mech but I wish they held off on either this one or that Sakaarian Hulkbuster so that these two sets aren’t coming out at the exact same time as Iron Monger, which this Hydra Stomper set will probably closely resemble. For that matter, why is the Sanctuary II coming out two months later than everything else but these two Disney+ mechs are coming out at the same time as the Iron Monger and other Infinity Saga sets? It’s just a bizarre choice all around.
  9. Except the hate is irrational because she has done literally nothing to you personally, besides producing a couple movies you didn’t like, and also producing several more movies that you probably did like, including four of the previous Star Wars films. The vitriol shown towards her day after day is on par with how George Lucas was treated during the prequels, which was just as wrong and disrespectful. It doesn’t help that so many lies are made up about her by grifters, like the made-up drama that Filoni and Favreau are going against her, when in actuality they have a strong working relationship, or her “betraying” her close friend George Lucas and his wishes. You said it yourself: she’s just being used as a scapegoat. And for what it’s worth, Rian Johnson said he disliked Empire Strikes Back as a kid and that other line has been taken completely out of context. I loved The Last Jedi though, so we’re obviously not going to see eye to eye on this subject. Back to the Lego sets, I’m impressed that Lego has managed to keep up and represent most of the major Mandalorian characters so far. With this new wave, we’re really only missing “Rosari-oka Tano” and Cobb Vanth from Season Two, and then maybe Frog Lady and Bo’s two Mandalorian buddies if you want to count them. From Season One, we really just need Kuiil, The Client and an Incinerator Stormtrooper. All of these could be thrown into just a handful of sets so I’m not too worried.
  10. I’m not even going to comment on the irrational hatred people have for Kathleen Kennedy or the flat-out falsehood that Filoni and Favreau have had to “go above her head” to get stuff done. The narrative that TLJ was made to intentionally piss off the fans is very worn out and also has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion in this forum. This new wave looks fantastic though! I was disappointed when the rumor list for the January sets came out and saw that it was mostly stale OT remakes with only one set from the shows that had garnered so much hype last year (TCW and Mandalorian). I was super relieved and happy when the rumor list for this summer came out listing a bunch of Mando and Clone Wars sets, and even one for The Bad Batch. And now that I’ve seen the sets themselves, I’m in love with this wave! The Trexler Marauder/ITT looks fantastic. It looked very boxy in the show so it makes sense why the set looks that way too. I may prefer the Rebels/Kenner/Season One variant, but hopefully we get that as some sort of 501st-esque Battle Pack someday. The Greef Karga and Mortar Trooper looked great in the leaks we’ve already seen. Like last year’s AAT, thus wouldn’t be a bad set to get a few of to army build, especially since it’s the current best way to get more Imperial Stormtroopers with the new helmet. (Since Lego retired that 20th Anniversary Dropship so damn fast.) The new Slave 1 is a pleasant surprise. Despite already having the UCS version, I still regretted not getting the 2019 Slave 1. Now that I know this is Mando-based and not ESB-based, my interest in this one has gotten even higher. The build itself looks nice and it doesn’t look like any compromises were made to accommodate for its smaller size. While more minifigures would have been nice, getting that awesome Beskar Mando figure again is great (especially with the spear!) and the new Boba Fett torso, arms and legs are amazing! The helmet and jet pack look off unfortunately though, as others have said, they look like they did in Chapter 14 while the rest of the minifigure is based off Chapters 15 and 16. An odd move but seeing as how we didn’t think we were getting Mandalorian Boba at all, I’ll take it. Moff Gideon’s Cruiser looks absolutely fantastic. The build looks like a nice display piece and the miniature TIE Fighters are a nice touch. The minifigure selection here also looks incredible. The new Fennec Shand, Moff Gideon and Darktrooper figures are amazing, though I don’t think a black lightsaber piece is a good enough representation of the Darksaber. The repeat of Cara Dune is nice in that it brings down the value that was artificially raised for her figure in the AT-ST Raider, but disappointing because she should have her Season Two outfit which is slightly different and would have had her New Republic badge. Overall though, it’s a great set and nice to finally have a Lego Arquitens. The Advent Calendar is fine. It seems a little weak compared to previous years, despite its Mandalorian branding. It’s nice that most of the figures it comes with are massable and I do really like how the Holiday Din and Grogu look, but something about this one feels off compared to last year’s AC, which in my opinion, is one of the best Star Wars advent calendars to date. Moving on to The Clone Wars sets, the Mandalore Throne and Vault is a nice little set, though the builds are a lot smaller compared to the Starkiller and Mustafar duel sets. The throne and prison cell look good though, and that Maul minifigure looked amazing in the leaks. Ahsoka still looks good; I wasn’t expecting Lego to update her with the AAT still on shelves anyway. The Mandalorian Fighter looks great, though I wasn’t expecting the color scheme to be so dark on this one. All three minifigures look fantastic though, and I’m still in shock that we’re actually getting Gar Saxon and finally Bo Katan minifigures. This or Gideon’s Cruiser are probably the sets I’m most excited for. Overall, this is a fantastic wave! Other than that Vader Meditation Chamber from the other day, I think I’m going to be picking up every single one of these sets. The only problem is that there’s a lot of great Ninjago and Marvel sets coming out at the same time, plus the recent Friends Apartment and some older D2Cs I was planning on getting this summer. I better start saving now!
  11. I think it’s funny that Korg’s headpiece was the first thing we saw get leaked, which led to all the Infinity Saga speculation in the first place, but the full minifigure and the set he comes in will end up being one of the last things we see.
  12. The Sanctuary II actually looks pretty good for its size! The build is a nice representation of the ship, I especially like the Chitauri color scheme, and it will just look nice in my Endgame final battle display that I’ll be making. The Thanos minifigure is surprisingly pretty good (of course it’s one of the few minifigures to get leg printing in this wave though... ). The Captain Marvel minifigure looks decent, though it’s a bit too blue and it has the same problem as the other MCU variants in that she doesn’t have leg printing. And lastly, I’m glad to get a second Mark 85 Iron Man to add to my double Hall of Armor. Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man is a fun surprise. I would’ve been fine with Steve’s WW2 mech but thought that it was weird that it would be coming out at the same time as the Iron Monger set and Captain Britain being in the CMF series already. Now I’m not bothered by her inclusion in the series! The mech itself looks well built, I like the unique Sakaarian color scheme that helps differentiate it from other Hulkbusters and whatnot. The race car transformation feature is strange but cool, and I wonder how it’ll play out in that particular episode. The minifigures are pretty fantastic here as well. 2012 Tony Stark in his “Brick Sabbath” shirt is great, but I’m also glad to get my first Valkyrie minifigure and it’s cool to see The Watcher get a minifig as well. I look forward to learning more about the latter’s character. The special What If? box art is gorgeous, though so is most of the boxes in this wave.
  13. I really liked the IT-S Transport as well. I really enjoyed the build process and the few figures it came with were of good quality. Had it not been for COVID postponing my Disney trip last fall, I probably would have gotten this set after actually riding it which would have been a cool experience. And fingers crossed that The Ghost does end up popping in something else soon. I mean it’s already shown up in Rogue One and The Rise of Skywalker, so it’s only a matter of time until it plays more of a major role in live action.
  14. For what it’s worth, I recall reading that Rebels has done pretty well on Disney+ and was one of the shows people were most looking forward to binge watching before the service came out. Of course, a Star Wars property being successful doesn’t necessarily mean it gets sets (cough, Jedi: Fallen Order, cough) but the only thing stopping Lego from making more Rebels sets is the fact that they didn’t do too well the first time around, for a variety of reasons. With any luck, these new Clone Wars and Bad Batch sets coming out this year will do well enough to show Lego that fans want more sets based off the animated content. If we can get obscure ships like the Galaxy’s Edge IT-S Transport at a high price point, surely a decently more recognizable ship like the Ghost could be done. Also, the Vader Meditation Chamber looks meh to me. The screen with Ozzel and Piett is the coolest part in my opinion, but the inclusion of Vader’s printed arms in this set makes their omission from this year’s Imperial Shuttle even more puzzling. I’m not too disappointed though, as that saves more money for me to spend on all the awesome-sounding Star Wars sets coming out this summer, as well as the new Marvel and Ninjago ones.
  15. I just built the set last night and feel the exact opposite. With all the colorful parts, minifigures and the complex build, I feel like I got a pretty good value out of it. Ninjago’s dragons almost always impress me though, so I’m a bit biased. This Ninjago Brickhead promo is a strange one. I’m sure they’ve happened before, but I’ve personally never seen a promo where you still have to pay for it on top of spending a certain amount. It’s also strange that they’re doing this when there’s no new Ninjago sets coming out in the US, though I’m still missing 1/2 of The Island sets so it’s not a huge deal for me.
  16. Please add me to the list too!
  17. Yep, around ten years ago, Disney traded ESPN sportscaster Al Michaels to Universal for the rights of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. They’ve since used him in the short-lived (and in my opinion, disappointingly overlooked) Epic Mickey video game series, a few minimal appearances in Mickey shorts and a walk-around character at Disneyland. There have been rumors circulating that Disney is or was developing an Oswald series for Disney+ but we haven’t heard anything about that in a while. Still, I’d love it if we got Oswald and EPCOT’s Figment as minifigures one day. They’re two very underutilized characters.
  18. I wouldn’t say that. The Disney [Princess] theme has co-existed with the Disney [parks and CMF series] line since 2016, and the latter really only gets releases every three years anyway. This Ice Castle wouldn’t even be part of this Disneyland/World theme anyhow, seeing as how there’s no Elsa Ice Castle you can visit at the parks.
  19. Either way, I would love it if they made an affordable, minifigure-scaled 1989 Batmobile with Michael Keaton Batman. It would be so awesome if Lego made every cinematic Batmobile as part of this line, even the ones from the Schumacher-verse which I do not care for. (Imagine getting nippled Batman and Arnold Schwarzenegger/Mr Freeze figures.)
  20. I agree. He’s one of my favorite Disney characters and I wish they did more with him. My ideal Disney Series 3 roster would include: 1. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit 2. Retro Mickey with the “pie eyes”. (Basically the version represented in 43179.) 3. Retro Minnie, same as above. 4. Mulan with sword and Mushu. 5. Mowgli 6. Baloo 7. Cinderella with glass slippers, similar to the roller skate pieces. 8. Rapunzel (braided hair) with frying pan and Pascal 9. Flynn Rider 10. Judy Hopps with badge 11. Nick Wilde with Pawpsicle 12. Some sort of Goofy variant that could come with the new Pluto.
  21. This set looks absolutely amazing! Central Perk was such a great set to build and probably one of my favorite ones in the collection. Both of the apartments look so detailed and colorful, and the hallway in between them is a nice touch. From what I can see of the figures, they all look great as well. This and Ninjago City Gardens are really going to be competing for my favorite set of the year, not to mention the rumored Star Wars and Marvel stuff as well as the minifig-scaled Tumbler.
  22. I’m not a huge Stranger Things fan, but really enjoyed The Upside Down so I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to another set. My wallet would be though... Fingers crossed for Starcourt Mall and a Steve minifigure.
  23. Yes, this is very exciting! I just watched all of the Dark Knight trilogy for the first time recently so this is coming out at just the right time for me. It’s $10 more expensive than 76119 and the recent 60’s Batmobile, I hope it comes with an extra figure. Some version of Christian Bale’s Batman will come with it obviously but I wonder who else they could include. Surely, they won’t just include the same figures in both sets, so I’m hoping they include Heath Ledger Joker in the smaller set. Imagine how much it would fly off shelves if he did. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Catwoman to appear as well.
  24. I’m not sure if Vader’s Castle is still available, but if it’s not, then those are the only current sets to include Vader, yes. They’re the only sets with ROTJ Luke right now, but there’s a lot of other sets with Luke from ANH and ESB out right now. That’s definitely up there too! I’m excited to get an extra one in the Advent Calendar.
  25. The leakers that said we could be seeing Lego SW minifigures soon was not kidding lmao. It didn’t even take a full day. Both of these new figures are absolutely gorgeous. Greef is a great representation of his Season 2 look and I am also glad that he looks less plain than his counterpart from the Razor Crest. (Sidenote, but I also hope we see more of the character himself in Season 3 or one of these other D+ shows.) Coming from someone who generally likes the newer stormtrooper helmet mold, I think the Mortar Stormtrooper is one of the best looking Star Wars troopers we’ve gotten in minifigure form. It’s just so detailed, and it makes me really hope for an Incinerator Stormtrooper as well at some point. Between these figures and the ones from the Bad Batch set, this summer’s selection of Lego Star Wars minifigures is already looking to be pretty spectacular.
