  1. TLG continue with a logic which leaves me quite skeptical: more minifigs, more prints, dumbed down building experience. The last few modulars feel targeted towards a new audience vs. Those of us who have been collecting them for a while. I abstained from buying the jazz club to keep my lego money for other sets. I think I might do the same with this one and maybe even sell out of my collection, put the modulars behind me, and focus on something else. Modular prices are no longer attractive enough to buy one hoping it will grow on you. Oh well, TLG will get my money anyway, but doubtful for this set.
  2. Agreed! No drastic changes or crazy amount of parts required… gwp could/should have been that! A handful of parts away from a pretty cool set. Personally, still happy enough at the threshold it was at, because it is a genuinely good parts pack.
  3. True artist! Keep up the good work:)
  4. I like what he did with the cave, the fort not so much (red/black/brown is a rough combination in my eye but I get the part limitation he set for himself as a constraint on this project). I will try to MOC something too, but using other parts, for a footprint of 32x32.
  5. Same in the UK (except governor hat) but the website is its usual disastet-self. Spent an hour on phone, tablet, pc before eventually (hopefully?) placing a successful order. Fingers crossed I get it all… and wouldn’t be against receiving the ordered parts x10 as it apparently occured with someone who asked for a replacement kate bishop and received 50! This PaB service is really the lottery, win some lose some I guess.
  6. Is there a deadline? I will build upon the gwp to get something more to my taste but not sure it will be right away. Thx.
  7. I was going to resist temptation and wait for Nov gwps… but my local lego store also had 30% off on some great sets (not discounted on shop at home, and cheaper than I had ever seen them at third-party e-tailers). Long story short AFOL-me (where A stands for addict) ended up with two of these. Sure the minifig is nothing special (unfortunately) but in hand it is a better build/has better presence than in pics. In fact, I am tempted to open the second one (instead of keeping it as “currency” or so I tell myself for the purposes of my dubious lego maths to justify soending) and add bricks to turn it into a nice fun moc I picture in my mind’s eye. bottom line, not as valuable as other gwps due to lack of any exclusive parts, but a decent set at this particular spending threshold (and double vip + nicely discounted sets). You might not regret giving it a try.
  8. In the UK, most interesting parts have not been made available yet (otherwise I assume they would now be listed as “out of stock” rather than merely being absent). The wait continues!
  9. Confirming it is unfortunately not the case (yet) in the UK, will report back if/when, sir Dano lit quite a fire under my feet though - can’t wait!
  10. Not in my tegion unfortunately. Based on someone else’s comment (last week?), I thought it wouldn’t be until Nov but I’ll keep an eye out.
  11. Guess i’m not the only one not in the secrets of the gods (how to safely swap minifig limbs)…
  12. Do you dip minifigs in very hot water before pulling arms out? Been wondering for a while as my only attempt partly broke an arm and I have not dared try again:(
  13. Looking good indeed!
  14. Yes you are right! I didn’t know this set but it seems to be the same building technique. In my eye probably the best scale to go with VV.
  15. Gave some thoughts to what size of boat would work best for the scale of the village (creator 3-1, marvel goatboat) and I think I have identified a better and cheaper way: going to use the hobbit laketown set technique i.e. combining two row boats. Hope this will be useful to some of you:)
  16. Awaiting better pic but is that a pirates x halloween gwp? I hope Majisto and Galileo will be better (been very good holding off purchases until then!)
  17. Happy Friday! Check out this link: the quoted prices aren’t cheap but there are a few obvious pieces one either has or does not need to bring the cost down. It might tempt me into my first BL order ever… though I still have to acquire 10320 first!
  18. Great news indeed… I was checking everyday until recently… might have to resume:)
  19. What are your thoughts about 10320 vs viking village? The latter has some ornate finishes and no print issues with the (few) minifigs. I am unsure what my owns thoughts are: 10320 should appeal to me more than VV but I think TLG’s execution of the village actually pleases me more. Might be the fact TLG went a bit too retro with the fortress in comparison.
  20. Are 4 viking villages worth more to you than 1 Rivendell? or 3 VV vs. 1 lion knight castle? it’s good to have a nice set at a more affordable price point but volume-wise one might get less pound for pound (based on pics only). i think VV looks good on display though it lacks some verticality (possibly better than 10320) but the available space (except for the chief’s hut) is really minimal.
  21. Brickset corrected their typo, the gbp price us still unknown rather than 140… rollercoaster… hopefully it will indeed be £115!
  22. Well funny you should say that… because the TLG press release mentions a “lego medieval village” twice (in first and last paragraphs) though one can certainly hope the “other” village will also see the light of day sooner rather than later (and with more minifigs without another huge price bump).
  23. Unfortunately Brickset is quoting a higher price point than the one mentioned by BrickClicker (in particular in the UK where it would apparently sell for £140 rather than 115). Otherwise, good first impressions but not the greatest bargain of 2023 sadly.
  24. Depending on where you are you might find great discounts on the 2023 Indy sets at a certain monster e-tailer… I paid full price for “Escape from the lost tomb” when it was released as it felt like good value by current TLG standards (and a great parts pack). I bought two more today because they were 30% off, i.e. below 4ppp, with valuable parts and useful minifigs. For once I don’t think I tricked myself with silly lego maths to justify a purchase:)
  25. Assuming you are referring to the 31120 (x3) MOC which results in a mostly vertical build, the one that splits in two to access the interior) I saw pictures a few months ago where an AFOL made very few changes to it or 10305 but cleverly positioned them together for a pretty impressive display result. It was on IG and the user’s name was mike.the.horrible.knight, no idea if the pics are still there but check it out.
