Disney Properties 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Huigberts Builds's topic in LEGO Licensed
Another one for the ice castle train here. From the front it looks great, and if you can get it on sale, it's definitely good value. My children love it as a playset too. The interior is excellent for a playset, but not to the level of a modular. There are some details that are excellent, but it can feel a bit sparse at times and the proportions if the different levels feel a bit off, again all due to the playability of it. Nevertheless, I think it's excellent value. The minidolls are also good! -
Worth noting that the €215 includes sales tax (minimum 15%, average 21% across the EU), whereas the $215 doesn't, so it's not a totally fair comparison, and for LEGO they probably generate more revenue from a set sale in the US, although possibly higher cost of sale, and so on and so on.

Agreed. I did an $80 order of Creator 3in1 sets and got three GWP. But there are plenty so far this year that haven't tempted me to buy stuff, despite keeping a wishlist of sets I will get when there is a decent promo or discount. I never buy sets day one. But this and the upcoming flower pot will make me place an order.

Ideally a medieval village, per the leaked prototype. After that, I'd love an Imperial flagship, a Forestmen 6066 Camouflaged Outpost update (another of my favourite childhood sets), and then some kind of merchant port as a civilian background for the Imperials and pirates - potentially to link with the Eldorado Fortress.

Agreed. Obvious. Only one thing you can do in these circumstances. Storm the LEGO headquarters, take over, cancel Star Wars, implement evergreen pirates theme.

Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Plus, I don't know what they would do for a more expensive set than the $150 Temple of the Golden Idol. It is the most iconic scene in Indiana Jones, and executed beautifully at this price point. Nothing else comes close to its general appeal to be able to justify a significantly more expensive set. I'm sure they could make a larger, more expensive set with Petra and the grail, but would it have the same status? Yes amongst fans, less so amongst a broader market. If they do more, it feels like playsets are where they'd have to focus, and the movies lend themselves to that rather well. It's just a few decades too late most likely. -
Have you scared them all off? Did you capture any of their powers before you did?

Genuinely curious as to why minifigures vs minidolls would sway you over a $400 set. I the actual figures themselves that you want and the bricks are just background? Or that the inclusion of minidolls suggests a simpler or lower quality build (which I don't think is true of Elsa's Ice Palace, but I can see how it could be more detailed and advanced in some areas). Or is it just a bit of internet hyperbole (which is also fine)? I don't really value minifigures that much, and the build is a much larger part of the value equation to me. And Brickset has just released an article of the 10 most expensive minifigures, most of which are in the thousands!! Hence the curiosity over what drives you. -
Wonderful work by everyone involved. Congratulations to those that won. Well deserved.

In which case, can someone lock the thread for a few days to force their hand?

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
RichardGoring replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The LegoLeak subreddit is reporting that there will be a Majisto GWP set in the summer, similar in size to the Forest Hideout GWP. I hope they do a more interesting Majisto figure than in the castle, but otherwise, nice to have another build to add to the world. Shame that it's a GWP though, but at least it's decent notice to build up a wishlist, and stock levels are often decent in the summer.- 2,976 replies

The LegoLeak subreddit is saying that it's going to be a remake of 6276 Eldorado Fortress. 2503 pieces. Personally, this is about as good as it could get, as I have the Caribbean Clipper, but never had a base for them. And I still think the Clipper looks good by today's standards. And I have my old 6270 Forbidden Island along with Barracuda Bay as an island and ship. So great balance of the competing forces in my collection. Really looking forward to it!

I normally have no interest in mechs, but I could get behind these. Hmmm... inspired, I think. Lovely stuff!

Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Brick Clicker has a leaks and rumours video on YouTube that shows a new Summer parts pack GWP. It's pretty blurry, but I think it contains a blue/yellow parrot, yellow crab, orange fish, and one of the (new colour) dark blue snakes from Indiana Jones. All unprinted animals, although there is a printed bunny toy, if that counts? And then a load of coral (does that count as an animal for this thread?), water/trans light blue, and old palm leaf pieces to give them somewhere to live. And he has a picture of a new Friends otter, which is floating on its back in the water. It looks pretty good. Just the eyes that are very different, as usual. Then finally the fish is apparently coming in magenta (?), but he doesn't know when or where.- 5,948 replies

I think the only person who could be described as that is the one who does an April Fool's day joke in March. Bizarrely it's not even amusing, and benefits no one. What a shame. -

Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I agree that it's highly unlikely that a shop has a copy of the set. But I buy that some retailers have been told there's an error in it somewhere and it's been pulled. What we don't know is whether they're going to fix it. If there is no second wave, releasing a standalone set might not be worth it for them, when you consider how retailers will take themes more than one-offs. -

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Per Sam Vimes from Ankh-Morpork, you also need to account for two grandmothers' funerals, and probably a variety of special holidays like 2x4 brick appreciation day, dented box Thursday, and the 'watching people swarm over the PAB wall when we put masonry bricks in it' event, which is like the Superbowl and Word Cup combined for these folks. I reckon you've only been waiting about 30 official LEGO days by that reckoning. -

Are they taking the Star Wars route and having a nanoscale, microscale, midiscale, 4+ scale, play scale, minifig scale, and UCS scale of everything? I get that focusing on the key elements of the story/movies is what sells, but adding a bit more variety while there are already products available of those key elements seems like missed opportunity. As others have said, it will be extremely disappointing if Gringotts doesn't link up the with Diagon Alley D2C.
