  1. I understand the desire for moulded animals, but I'd be disappointed if it wasn't brick-built like the submission. The 3in1 brick-built shark was an excellent build and I like what they could do with a brick-built shark.
  2. Possibly, but there's also a chance that they've done a new mould for an unseen City or Winter Village set, and reused it in the advent calendar. The antlers on this look different. And could you even get a reindeer in the space available in an advent calendar?
  3. Agreed, looks like a small deer.
  4. Given that they did the BrickHeadz vote and the Jaws Ideas competition, it felt more likely than lots of the others. But in this round, there were only about five that seemed sensible to consider (given their past history). I like the Jaws set. It looks nice and I look forward to seeing what they come up with.
  5. Also waiting for either discounts or a compelling GWP. Not sure which yet. I like the jeep, but undecided whether to get the brachiosaurus with it, or just the dilophosaurus ambush at only $20.
  6. I saw the clamshell in person the other day and was underwhelmed, which was a shame. I respect trying something different, but too much of the build went into the shell structure, yet at the same time it's not large and imposing enough to make a big impact, and the detail just felt a bit lost in the middle. Which is a shame. Got most of the CMF figures I wanted though. My local store sorts all of them and you choose what you want. I was surprised to see that they'd sold out of Baymax, Miguel, and Stitch. As well as Mickey and Oswald. This isn't just random chance, because people choose the figures they want. I didn't expect those to be the top five.
  7. Does anyone think that the Hogwarts Express train wheels (90840) will come onto PAB at some point. I'd love four of them for the DeLorean to convert to the BTTF Part III rail version, and pondering a Bricklink order. Always feels odd when some sellers have hundreds of this exclusive to a $500 set part.
  8. It could be cost of production at different times? Older parts still in stock may have had higher costs when produced, and they want to maintain certain profit margins on that old stock? But yes, it is a bit odd.
  9. And even then, the Tumbler was only $40.
  10. The risk with relying on a former customer service employee rumour is that while they were likely telling the truth at the time, LEGO can, and has, changed things at the last minute before. Release dates can change, sets can be changed, sets can be scrapped. So it's looking hopeful, but it's not guaranteed until it actually releases. The July vs January screenshot is interesting, because it's usually a three month exclusive period for LEGO before general release. Either way, it's (hopefully) something between one and seven months to wait. In the grand scheme of LEGO pirate sets, it's not long.
  11. I got one of the ghost pirates from BAM yesterday. Looks nice, but shame it's only a new torso and there's only one. Tempted to get a crew of them though. Perhaps to invade the fort in a three force battle with the pirates.
  12. You just had to, didn't you? And now that's what will happen, and we'll end up with this again. With two River Niles. Or whatever they include. Great Pyramid of Giza 21058 | Architecture | Buy online at the Official LEGO® Shop US
  13. They did the Penguin, Max Shreck, and Catwoman in a set that's widely available and very affordab... never mind, carry on.
  14. Definitely similar to Apocalypseburg. It looks good, but it doesn't interest me enough to get it for $110. Apocalypseburg is so much more impactful and visually interesting (albeit that if you don't have either, this is substantially less expensive).
  15. I rather like the Batwing. Will definitely be getting it. Shame that the figures are the same, but at least it's 'only' $38. August 1. 4+ Batmobile 76264. Different Joker in this one though.
  16. They are so remarkably similar. Given the choice, I prefer the angled wings of the shadowbox version, but it's probably only a couple of parts needed to modify one into the other. On the other hand, if people are looking to buy the figures only, and very few people buy the shadowbox, I wonder if we'll be in the crazy situation of people paying stupid money for one figure, making it tempting to get the shadow box, sell the figures, get the batmobile, and then a whole load of bricks for cheap. Or just get the standalone set and not bother with the hassle.
  17. Where's the popcorn eating emoji when I need one?
  18. Oops. Nice spelling mistakes in my original post there! Mike Psiaki talks about it in the designer video: I recall reading about it as well somewhere, but I can't find more (although they may just have been elaborating more on the content of this video). There's also a nice post about different (non-official) mods of it, including a car dealership - Modifying the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (thebrickblogger.com)
  19. Oh, I'm sorry, I meant 6270 is amazing. I agree with you entirely on 6253. Not that great at all. But I love 6270. A fun build experience (especially especially as a child), such fabulous fun to play with, looks pretty good given the piece count, but also pretty objectively, has a nice balance of structure with other bits with accessories. And then for me it has huge nostalgia, and now my kids play with it and love it too, suggesting it is somewhat timeless and so a perfect LEGO set.
  20. It could also be shelf space. They're releasing a lot of large, adult focused sets right now. There will be three modulars on shelves in January 2024 if they retire all of those above (BH, JC, 2024 modular). So PS it's competing for space with lots of other stuff that's new.
  21. One of my top three sets of all time. Still have it. And my children love it too. Such a good set in almost every way. But I hope they don't remake it, as I felt like Barracuda Bay was the modern interpretation of it, and I'd definitely prefer something different.
  22. Ha! Ninjago City Markets has a 'Missing goat' poster sticker in it. Yet another LEGO goat without actually being a LEGO goat. Surely, surely a reference to it coming back?
  23. July usually has the Christmas GWPs again, which are often good. But late November and into December are when you get the double VIP combined with decent GWPs, usually. But as mentioned before, the Galileo one should be coming up at some point and might be good, and will likely have a high threshold.
  24. Is the art poster set only for 2024? I thought it was releasing this year. Bit of a shame, as I liked the look of that and was hoping it was for 2023.
