  1. I like this distinction. Good points.
  2. I recently contacted them about broken pieces from old sets (modular fire brigade, Parisian restaurant, and Metalbeards Sea Cow). They told me through email and on the phone that LEGO bricks are supposed to last a lifetime and that they would definitely replace them. So I used the broken pieces service to order them. They were out of stock of one part, but the rest all came with a week.
  3. Usually with a few hours of the initial order. But once it says in progress or in warehouse, then it's fixed and can't be changed.
  4. I think you are overblowing this far too much. Personally I'm THRILLED that we have the Temple of the Golden Idol set. It is by far the most iconic part of Indiana Jones, has excellent functions, looks great, and I really don't know how you could improve it in any meaningful way for a LEGO set. It's probably at the optimal price point too. Yes, there's lost potential, but to say that you might as well just cancel the whole thing is a rather absurd thing to say given the three that have been released. Of course, it's very easy for you to not get any of them while others enjoy what they get immensely. True. Although you might look at it a bit differently and say that they don't have a relationship with Amazon, so can use it, but maybe Lucasfilm told them not to explicitly as part of the license agreement they have. But yes, this is clutching at straws looking for a reason when there probably isn't one. And it's probably pointless to speculate now anyway given Jay's comment.
  5. I don't know, but there could be licensing implications of mentioning the new movie, so they distance the current sets from it to avoid fees or paperwork or reseller agreements.
  6. Not necessarily. The problem for LEGO is that the more information they provide, the more they can be beaten with it later. On anything. Was it the controversial story/depiction (you'll get complaints from either/both sides of the political spectrum on that)? Was it logistics or build issues (you'll get complaints from AFOLs and fan media about declining quality, which may seep into the perception of LEGO as a brand)? Was it Lucasfilm controlling what they wanted out there (you'll get complaints about Disney having too much control)? It all just means the potential for bad press. But if they're vague (or ignore it completely), then they have a few people on the internet complaining in forums or Reddit, but it won't generate the reach that a detailed press release could. Also, being vague gives them the ability to do what they like in the future. Being specific puts them in a corner that they don't need to be in, regardless of their current plans.
  7. I don't care how the sets are released, whether it's to a big fanfare or just quietly added to the website. My enjoyment comes from the quality and value of the sets, any I think these look great and are reasonably priced, so I'm happy.
  8. My series three sets have also been charged, and I've has shipped (also in the US). I don't think that the new program has had any filtering so far, so it looks like 375 have been submitted, and we're doing the equivalent of the 10k boring round now. I also voted for a relatively small number, but couldn't bring myself to vote any as not for me. It feels too negative given the effort that had gone into them.
  9. Really very impressive. Amazing work. Thank you for sharing. Not built my SP3 yet, but may have to do this shortly afterwards.
  10. Yes. It released in January this year, so should still be in stores very readily.
  11. I suspect it's the look of it. Studs in the chairs would look less elegant when they're not in use.
  12. If the story was that he built a Titanic, using the current LEGO Titanic model, then it would have happened within the last 18 months. And yet no one on this forum can recall it happening, and it's not coming up in search (that a relatively recent story would do), and it would be 9000 pieces, which, if you assume a sensible maximum of 30 pieces per missing parts order, would be 300 missing pieces orders, all in a relatively short time, to a relatively small geographic area, requiring not only hundreds of email addresses and accounts (easy enough to deal with), but also hundreds of different addresses to mail the parts to? There is no universe in which this looks plausible. But if you can find the reports of it, then I would be delighted to read them.
  13. I have tried, admittedly a brief search, and nothing comes up. You'd expect someone like that to be shared widely, and you've said it was, so it should be very easy to find. The face that you can't remember what was built doesn't help with the search, but also detracts from your story further. Great urban myth though.
  14. Watched the review. If it's $40, that definitely feels like good value. I rather like it. Above $40 and it quickly gets less appealing. But far, far better than the original leaked box art suggested it would be.
  15. Agreed. The first image has solid studs. The 3D render and lifestyle photo are hollow studs.
  16. OK, the set pictures make them look better than the box art, so may go for a few more. Not convinced by the tree with the brachiosaurus (although it's nice that it works well for both the initial scene and the later scene with Grant and the children. Want to see some reviews of these to get into the details a bit more. Especially the visitor centre and how that works.
  17. The brachiosaurus was infamous for being a peace loving animal and there is no evidence that they ever formed armies, or even a simple militia, so no great expense needed.
  18. Looking through the entries yesterday, while not trying to take anything away from any of the creators, it shows you just how good the LEGO designers are at producing models with both elegance and efficiency.
  19. I hear the frustration shot whether or not sets are going to release, but let's not forget that the frustration should be with us and the leakers for going around in circles, and not LEGO in this instance. There are many other things to get frustrated directly with LEGO directly.
  20. I hope you're right, because I'm not loving these right now. Let's hope it's the box art setting things off poorly. At the moment, likely to only get the triceratops set. I wanted to love the visitor center and brachio sets, but just don't. I love that!
  21. No evidence. Simply the speculation earlier in the thread, so I caveated it with 'might'. Just pondering really.
  22. You're right! I found a load of them and bought as many as would fit in my car. Currently have them all stacked behind me ready to sell on at the highest price. Taking up most of the space in this room, but I keep thinking of the $$$$$$$$$$
