  1. I just got three of theese polybags as well as one of that comic-folder in an envelope from LEGO. Dunno yet if this means that there is or is going to be a campaign involving theese polybags in Sweden.
  2. The fist thing that came to my mind was: "OMG! Is that a trans-darkblue canopy i see there!?". I was actually expecting trans-orange canopies... The only way they could top this, if you ask me, would be with trans-yellow canopies...
  3. Well there is a blurry pic of 6754 Family House on brickshelf. The set seems to be about the same size as 4996 Beach House and it looks like it's tan. But due to the poor image quality it could just as well be in yellow.
  4. If there is someone really interested in this there's a whole article about the horned Viking Helmet myth here. It seems like it was a Swedish artist named Gustav Malmström that was the first to paint vikings with horned helmets. Before that there had been paintings of pre-viking germans with horned helmets. Which were evolved out of winged helmets. And there actually seems to have been horned helmets used. But for cermonial purposes only.

  6. A Swedish LEGO employee commenting on the Swedish campaign did say that there were to be a campaign in Germany too. And there is info stating that there is to be 85.000 produced. Which would mean that it's going to hit other countries as well.
  7. I just blogged this on my Swedish Blog too.
  8. They were posted before in the All 2009 sets thread. But they didn't cause that much fuzz. And I must say that I don't like them that much... :/ That remote-control unit just seems so bloated. And I'm guessing that the black IR reciever thingie isn't movable. And why the big molded on fender?
  9. I use a bunch of these, a lot of ziplock bags and a couple of these: /Johan
  10. You should checkout the new 8168 Ferrari Victory set. If I'm not totaly colorblind it has four black of those "slope-vents". You can see them on a photo on the back of the box. Which I held in a toystore as late as this afternoon. :)
  11. Anyone else that would like to see impulse sets with a more random content. Kind of like with theese Collectable cards that the kids likes.
  12. Yeah! And then there is also a ferrari version. Which is almost just two F1 cars and the fold-out track... Thats why I would have preffered more brick built accessories as that would have given a lot more parts and play-value.
  13. Just too bad there's a big fat LEGO-logo molded into it. unless you intend to turn the up-side out ofcourse.
  14. As far as I can see it looks like metallic silver.
  15. OMG! He sold it for $120 USD!!!! Congrats to Copmike!
  16. I guess this is the effect of the SEK currency dropping like a rock in value. :(
  17. I do believe it's Copmike. At least I'm pretty sure it isn't me. ;)
  18. My guess is that they decided that either all or none of the roadsigns were to be printed and then they let the mayority decide.
  19. So this is the other one of the new 2009 sets I picked up yesterday. Name – Thunder Raceway Set Number – 8125 Year – 2009 Pieces – 165 (race track excluded) Dreaded Sticker Sheets (DSS) – 2 Age Recommendation – 6-10 years Price - 149.00 SEK Probably around 14.99 USD or less. The front of the "box". Not much to say about it. It really not a paperbox per se. The "paperbox" only covers four sides. And the whole thing is kept together with a thin plastic strip(or whatever it's called). The back shows the main "gimmick" of the set: The fold-out race track. Notice that on this side it says "rennstrecke" which I understand is german and means "race track" . So lets cut the plastic strip and pull out the track... Wait a minute... The foldable track is only two third of the box's size. And all the LEGO, including instructions and DSS are stuffed inside the track... So one third of the box is just plain air. I can't help but scratch my head wondering why... ? So lets take a quick look at the set's main attraction. The fold-out race track. With a few quick bends you can get track to lay flat on the table/floor. It's dark bley in color and has a couple of raised pinholes. The pinholes sticks up 2 plates over the surrounding surface. If you take a closer look on the shorter track that goes out on the sides you'll notice theese ridges. They're dimensioned to keep a 4x12 plate or similar in place. It won't hold it firmly. It'll just keep it from sliding on the track. Besides the race track the set comes with two polybags of LEGO, one Instruction booklet and... ... no less than two DSS:s packed with stickers. Do I need to mention that this set relies heavily on stickers? There is not a single printed piece in it. The two cars that comes with the sets is of the "tiny turbos" type. However I find them to be a bit poor in their design. Most of the regular tiny-turbos look better. Atleast most of the recent years tinyturbos. The cars are also quite similar in look. It's only colors and details in the front and rear that differ. Some more variation of the cars would have been prefferable in my opinion. While talking about the cars I have to bring up the tires. They really do feel poor-quality. There is this dent that you'll have to be blind to not spot directly. It's like they've cut out a little part of the tire or the nozzle that apllies the material to the molds are sticking in to far into the mold. There is also a kind of "valley" (couldn't come up with a better word for it) that runs all way around the tire. You can kind of see it in the photo above (it's on the same side as the dent). It is much more visible when you look at in reality. It's less visible when the tires are mouned onto the cars though. The track accessories are simplistic and quick builds. Most of you will most likely be able to build them whitout peeking in the instruction booklet. The flags uses this bar with a thick stopring that's been introduced this year. Now lets see how well the actual foldability of the set is. And, I'm sorry to say, I don't find it to work out as well as it could have. In order to fold it into a box. You'll have to disassemble it to some extents. A few of the flagpoles has to come of as well as that laps-display-tower-thingie. I would have prefered that you would just have been able to fold it as-is. When the track is folded up as a box it will stay that way. You have to use some force to pull it apart. Even the lid will stay on quite nicely. So there is no risk of the box breaking open by accident while on the shelf. Conclusion: So what do I think of this set? Well the fold-out track idea is kind of nice. But to be honest: I would have prefered more brickbuilt accesories instead. Like some spectator platforms and things like that. And the cars isn't really anything to get exited about either. So if you're not a die hard Racers fan you don't need to bother getting this set. You might just as well pick up two regular tiny turbo sets and build some accessory MOCs out of your collection of parts.
  20. It was in a local Toystore named "Lek & Hobby". I saw Racers, some Technic and the whole new City Construction range + this set. I was actually into another store selling LEGO (HBAdventure) they had the same 2009 sets. Excluding this set and the foldable track Racers sets. So I would say this is somewhat widely spread. I think this is something new for this year as they usually don't turn up in stores here until February. At least it feels that way...
  21. So, I wen't into the city today, to get a birthday present for my GF, and I did come by some of next years new sets in the toy store I visited. I did pick up two sets. One being 8401 CITY Minifigure Collection the other being 8125 Thunder Raceway, which is one of those new Racers sets where you can fold up the track into a box. (Review of that will hopefully follow within the next 24 hours...) Now enough about that. Lets get down to the review, shall we? Name – Minifigure Collection Set Number – 8401 Year – 2009 Pieces – 65 Minifigures – 4 Age Recommendation – 5-12 years Price - 79.90 SEK Probably around 7.99 USD or maybe even less. Front of the box, nothing new there. Anyone intrested in this set has probably already seen bigger and better pics of it. Back of the box. And yeah the set is more or less four impulse sets put in a single box(as if you haven't figured that out already): A girl with a bench and a radio, a police officer with a couple of roadsigns, a guy with a suitcase, trafficsignals and a waterpost and a delivery-dude in a CS-jacket with a handtruck and one of those new crates. This is what the box contains: Two polybags of LEGO, one DSS and an uneccesary instruction booklet. Boom, I'm done. There is no tricky build whatsoever. It'll take you less time to build it than it'll take you to turn the first page of the instructions booklet. Conclusion So what do I think about the set? Well It's nice in that Impulse sort of way. It's good to stock up on minifigs but it won't offer any greater variation of the figs. Best part is that you get 4 minifigs in one go. And one of which wears a CS-jacket. Oh and look! It's a girl! In a set in the lower price-segment. Who would have thought.... This is the first girl I haven't bought of bricklink after the end of my dark age. /Mirandir
  22. So I got no less than two of theese the other day. IS there anyone else that find it to be kind of purple-ish rather than pure black? BTW is there anyone who knows a place where the set is still available for "prebuying"? As I have yet to get the actual Tie Fighter set...
  23. Well Sweden, US and Germany are the only confirmed countries so far. But 85,000 is quite a lot so there is a good chance Irland will get atleast a few of them. So keep your eyes and ears open for any campaigns by LEGO the coming year. /Mirandir
  24. So it's going to be waaaaay more common than that golden C-3PO then.
  25. It's just me being worthless in english grammar... Fredrik Pettersson is working on LEGO and MR meant: "mister".
