I know people were getting mad at a poster claiming LEGO is doing a bit of a “cash grab”, but can we not all admit now that this Chocolate Frog Card gimmick is complete bull$hit? Why are you putting collectible “Cards” in $120 sets? AND they’re random, so there’s no guarantee you’re even going to get them all. It’s the definition of a cash grab.

Has no one still shown the exterior of all the sets put together?

Damn I’m bummed it’s been delayed. I hope the windmill is in the first round. Edit: JK just saw it’s not. Honestly the Castle doesn’t seem that impressive to me, especially compared to the designer’s current In Review castle, which is way better. It’s just asymmetrical and kinda messy looking, and the trees look kinda odd. Can’t put my finger on it. Edit 2: Damn and the Temple of Hermit has been removed, NO!!! To be fair the build seemed like it would be a bore to build, and it wouldn’t mesh too well with the Ninjago City sets, so not a huge loss.

I have no opinion on this D2C but definitely of the idea that Minifig > minidoll. What about minifig's are "boyish", genuinely curious? I think Minifigs are as much as a LEGO staple as the brick system, minidolls to me reek of Mega Blocks quality.

Have You guys seen this? I hope this new wave of Hogwarts will add some much needed verticality to the sets. I’m honestly not a huge fan of the 2018-2020 Hogwarts now that I think about it. It doesn’t feel like a castle, just like a long hallway

Thank god the BrickLink Designer Program exists. I swear I want to buy like 5 of those sets. I would gladly buy the jazz ensemble set if it got approved as well.

LEGO Ideas has become less about what AFOL’s want and more about what’s going to appeal to the non-LEGO fan adult who wants to display a random thing made With LEGO.

I have no hope to get any of the Ideas sets that actually appeal to me anymore. We’re going to get tutankhamun and that’s about it

I’m saying this based on Marcos’ words that this is a soft reboot. I bet next year will be PoA in this new style. Also I would love to see the exterior with all the sets built. I agree with what someone mentioned earlier about how the verticality really helps this style shine over the other. I hope next wave they make expansions that are even taller than the great hall.

Honestly one of the best and most overlooked things about this wave is the box art! Man That Hogsmeade background is beautiful. This alone should tell LEGO why the black boxes are a mistake. Who’s going to help me MOC those other buildings in the background for a proper Hogsmeade village

What I don’t get is why is LEGO pretending that DH doesn’t exist? I cannot imagine that a company that is ok with Avengers and criminals and guns etc would be against a slightly darker HP book/movie.

I’m not asking for a $400 set. But Hogsmeade is easily the third biggest location in the series and could easily justify the $250 D2C if they wanted to.

I really wish they made Hogsmeade a D2C set. Honestly the one we’re getting is just a bit too small and looks a bit childish in comparison so DA or Hogwarts

Their Instagram post leading with the Fawkes set followed by chess and the brick built minifigures tells you what they think people want to see. 😖
