  1. Not to mention the fact that Attack on Hoth has sort of dialed most of our expectations for the entire theme back a bit. If you can mess up Hoth you can mess up anything, and this set certainly could turn out to be a dud as well. But barring any exclusive knowledge that the set is a shrine to Jar Jar and her fig will just be an Angry Clone head and nothing more, I can't imagine this being a huge disappointment in any way. But then again, I suppose our hopes do seem a tad high for it, I can almost hear the holomessage..."help us Ahsoka retailer exclusive, you're our only hope in a year of mediocre sets"...
  2. How can one be so sure that this set will be a disappointment on so many levels. X105Black, you seem to know more about this set than the rest of us. How else would you make such bold claims?
  3. The Blade Wing seems like an obvious choice, it'd be desireable enough to stand on its out without an additional ship in the set, unlike the A-wing which they felt needed Vader's TIE. I'll be getting the set, but I'd have preferred to get several stand alone A-wings for about that price. Beyond that, I'd like the yellow TIE, though that seems doubtful, and perhaps Sabine's custom TIE. The TIE Bomber is another obvious choice, though that could always be sold as an ESB set too. The Mandlorian fighters from The Protector Of Concorde Dawn would be nice too. I'd love to get Hando in a set, even if he's just an additional figure. A Rebel ship to mirror the Gozanti would be nice too.
  4. The reused builds certainly don't help it's case. I've said from the start that the set in almost cynical in that it's essentially a collection of previews sets, taking the "Ultimate Collector Series" title far too literally. Then you factor in that it's missing figures that are frankly inexcusable to omit, and the fact that the name "Assault on Hoth" is totally misleading considering only two Snowtroopers are included, and it's pretty obvious why people are upset with TLG over this set. Frankly, I'm amazed that people can't grasp why others might be disappointed. I can certainly see how this would be valuable to someone who has no Hoth sets, but for "ultimate collectors" who have been collecting already, there is very little here worth the price of admission, and definitely no builds challenging enough to warrant UCS branding. To me though, the most glaring mistake is the reuse of the same basic snowspeeder design we've had for over a decade. An updated design would have at least justified it's inclusion, otherwise we just got essentially the same build in a smaller set not long ago. And that's to say nothing of it being kinda useless as a parts pack, small white bricks aren't as desireable as all the brown that came with the Ewok Village.
  5. At 50% off I'd be far more inclined to get this. I still have the B-wing in the box from that promotion, actually.
  6. Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a bit refreshing considering the oversaturation of TFA this past year. You can't turn around these days without Kylo Ren or an FO Stormie staring at you.
  7. Also, Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter is the expanded universe E-Wing. And maybe it's just me, but I'd be interested in a new T65 X-Wing, though I have little interest in the T70s. As far as the female lead debate, can we maybe just see the movie before casting judgment based on what little we've seen in a trailer? It sounds a lot more like sex ism than valid concerns.
  8. I just hope he has a different facial expression than in Final Duel.
  9. Yes! We need more uglies, and these both look great.
  10. I'm just stoked that it has a bridge that can fit multiple figs.
  11. Gotta love this show bringing back EU ships. This looks excellent so far, and the size is very impressive seeing it next to Phoenix Home and the mini fighters.
  12. But two Hoth themed UCS sets in one year? How boring, especially considering Assault on Hoth has a Snowspeeder in it.
  13. That is certainly a valid reason, and I'd love to see the finished product.
  14. Having just missed out on the last DS, and not owning the first, I'll get the new one whether it's a display model or a playset. Personally, I love the concept and execution of the previews set, I don't understand the strict billing of it as a playset. It obviously lends itself more to play than the original, but I love that you can display different scenes simultaneously rather than being limited to just the exterior. Jabba's Palace is a playset, but I display it rather than play with it.
  15. The details are great, but it's just too narrow. I think it could benefit from an extra 2 studs of width in the middle, as it is it seems like a ship smaller than an Imperial-class. Ah, scrolling through the comments now, I see others noted that it seems like more like an Arquitens or Interdictor. I get a Venator vibe too.
  16. I'm curious to see if Vader will have different head printing than the Final Duel version. I'd really like an angrier expression than he has in that set.
  17. I'm not fond of the FO TIES either, this looks much better, and much better than the last official TIE/ln
  18. Yup, they're close enough to the OT that it works, which is nice since you can't do that with TCW or PT sets. I have the crew of the Ghost hanging out in Home One right now, and they seem right at home, no pun intended.
  19. I think it was me complaining about how they'll give us Unkar's brute as an exclusive yet we've had two Cantinas but still no Ponda. I guess that turned into wishful thinking.
  20. Ah right, I always forget about that series. At least we got something good out of Crystal Skull. If that Flying Wing hadn't come out during my dark ages I might have bought one, I love the look of it. But yeah, for an Eta2, the canopy is pretty useless, though I could see it being great for other space ship designs. Looking at the source material I can see what you mean. It'd be great if TLG gave us Vader's interceptor, similar to how we got the Imperial variant of the V-wing. They are, after all, both products of Kuat Systems Engineering.
  21. That canopy hasn't been made without the Open Circle Fleet insignia, IIRC.
  22. I wish they'd stop giving us angry clone heads. Any other flesh colored head would be fine, these are just so useless when ever Stormtrooper has one.
  23. General Rieekan is not amused by this joke. Edit: on that note, why wasn't he included with this set? For something billed as a UCS, why do I have to source older sets to get figs that should have been included?
  24. Eh. We still don't have Ponda Baba, but this is an exclusive? Definite pass for me, which is ok because I still have to get the book with white Boba anyway.
