  1. Curious, what do you end up using stickers for then mostly? (Unless it were a printed brick, the "Potassa Carbonate" seems doomed to have been a sticker, and a plain arch, even if a physical brick, still isn't going to give it the same feel for me. But yes, in a perfect world, a printed archway would have been very special.) Oh, I'm also going to put the uniforms with crests to use as Prefect's uniforms. I think that's a nice way to add some variety so the students don't all look the same. So maybe not completely useless? I think it's a reasonable fanwank, as we know they had badges of some sort.
  2. I agree with you and @YetiZombie that the new Snape minifig is a disappointment. Have to disagree about the Potions and supplies stickers though, because I thought it really captured the movie set design. (Not the stuff on the book portion of the stickers, but the bit that makes up the classroom itself.) That and the re-interpretation of the Charms walls to include spells instead of student names are my two favourite stickers. Does anyone know if the Hufflepuff set even includes a Hufflepuff flag? The Gryffindors get custom crest tiles, the Slytherins and Ravenclaws at least get stickers with the House banners inside the books, but I couldn't see one at all in the Herbology set.
  3. I know @Surge said there was only one set, and I'm on back order and can't speak to what's actually in the set (for aaaaages), but the advertising for the set clearly shows Neville and Cedric with the headphones cum earmuffs around both of the minifigs' necks, both on the box and in the interior shot. If there was only one set, perhaps they muffed it?
  4. It's a definite improvement over the original, and I like what you did to improve the tree. How do they stack up in terms of the number of pieces vs. the original designs? I tried to look up other options for your flower piece on the lock, but I can't see what you chose that would need replacing?
  5. Oh hey! I really like her! This really captures the character, and Myrtle is such fun anyway. (And rather neatly, a good deal more relevant to the stories than one might think at first glance, certainly when contrasted with Peeves.) Your inclusion of the toilet made me chuckle, but it was clearly a must, and the clear bricks at the bottom are very effective at conveying her ghostly status. Thanks for sharing your MOC.
  6. This was really special! The sense of perspective is beautifully captured. Thank you for sharing it, you can just see how much thought you put into it. While I tend to be a bit of a purist, I thoroughly enjoy watching the decision making process that goes into your "artistic license". (And it *is* artistic.) I like the choice to shift Hagrid's hut closer to the foreground. If any part of the castle has the emotional resonance of "home" it must be where Hagrid is. (I know Sirius is the godfather, but in every way that counts, Hagrid was the unsung family member a godfather should have been.) The frog as the dragon's head made me chuckle, and I *loved* the squid tentacles sticking up from the lake. If the muse ever visits, I'd love to see your take on the winged boar at the gates.
  7. Have to agree, the perspective on the third panel is very nicely done, and I love how you captured / recreated the font. Nice work! Thanks for sharing.
  8. A bunch of you have mentioned only ordering three of the Moments classrooms, because it was enough to meet the GWP threshold. (I ordered all four, because I couldn't bring myself to skip one.) But I'm curious, if you skip / postponed the purchase of a set, which of the four was less of a "gotta have" for you and why? (For example, I was disappointed the Herbology set included no Hufflepuff uniforms and yet another Cedric.)
  9. Have you seen this buildable version of Aunt Marge on Rebrickable? I thought it was very nicely done.
  10. Narcissa, (Wedding) Bill, Pomfrey, Rita Skeeter (although I can't honestly say I associate her with DH so much, but she's sorely missed), Xenophilius, Kreacher, Scabior, Percy, Tonks, Scrimgeour, Neville, and Bathilda Bagshot, probably in that order.
  11. Not sure if you're still updating this, but I encountered two that weren't on the list. BAM and HY. @Guyon2002 was so kind as to define them:
  12. You're a champ. Thanks, @Guyon2002 (I'm very rarely at a lego store, so I don't often see that.)
  13. Cheers. Agreed, the current Krum face is a head scratcher. No idea why it was chosen, doesn't look like him at all. I preferred the 2005 version. I'm going to feel stupid for asking just as soon as this gets answered, but what's BAM stand for again? I know it refers to the collectible minifig series, but couldn't work out the abbreviation, and it wasn't in the glossary. Ditto 1HY? TIA. Also does everyone looking at the pix of leaks just have an IG account, or is one of the IG viewers working again? Picuki and gramho both have issues lately. (sorry for the OT)
  14. Nice catch. I failed to recognise it as Carina. Which CMFs are they now reusing? I hadn't spotted that yet, either. I like both your take and your attitude. Right you are. And now I'm looking forward to a CMC book... And the Thestral and Blast Ended Skrewt wouldn't have to fit in as well, were they included... ACs are pretty much the only sets that are better priced here than in the states. Sets are often a lot cheaper there, or 1:1 $ to EUR, but the ACs remain a better deal here, I figure because they have so much competition on the AC market.
  15. It's the same as the 75948 Clock Tower version. The firstie/second year version in this series didn't have any, neither did the series 1 collectible minifig, but all the rest (inexplicably) have. Guess they figured it makes the fig look younger? I thought it was strange, too.
  16. The facilities at school were definitely called lavatories, and "lav" is much easier to spell. (What else would they be called?) But seriously, the English taught and spoken here is decidedly more British than American, say. Good point about separate structures. Went looking, and found the FBTB post you mentioned. Cheers. You can see the platform move slightly around .38. I guess it wasn't enough of an effect to make the set's final cut. Certainly not as presented here anyway. I'd seen at least one other video where it was explained as the duelling platform, but in that video you couldn't see how it was meant to be used... Ooo! And now I really want them to do a new version of 4733 Duelling Club. They can skip the background, just give me something I can slot into the GH. I'd love a Lockhart (haven't been able to afford DA yet) and an improved Snape. (I'm partial to 2010's version. This series' has been disappointing (he looks sort of constipated), and Moments' seems no better.) Plus Draco in (extra!) Slytherin robes, and Justin (more House diversity, please!) and a snake for Harry to reason with.
  17. Close enough, isn't it?
  18. I rather enjoyed the Whomping Willow for including the Potions classroom, and Snape's office for the dressing down post Anglia crash. So many of the scenes took place in that classroom. The Gryffindor dorm was a nice bonus, too. I think I care more about the scenes than I do the architecture of the place. (There's always the nanoscale build for that.) I'm also realising with some surprise, now that you've mentioned it, that I'd like two lav based sets, which strikes me as strange. I think I'd like to see a stall, the troll and firstie HRH in a small set, because that was the scene where they finally become friends, and perhaps they could include the sinks from Myrtle's lav in a second CoS set with the chamber and basilisk. Or maybe make another small (connectable) set out of just the sinks and have it be the scene where Hermione brews Polyjuice and turns into a cat person, and then the CoS could include the Slytherin common room with Harry & Ron / Crabbe & Goyle. (Alternatively, I'd be happy with those three as CMFs.) But Myrtle's lav seems something of a must. We already have the diary Harry recovers from the CMF 2 series... The scene with Harry attacking Draco was set there, too, and Snape saving him from the Sectumsempra's effects. (And now she wonders uncomfortably if she needs a *third* set with the windows and sinks in front of them, Harry duels Draco, Snape comes to the rescue...) Anyway, small sets would do quite nicely. Selfishly hoping they don't make the bell towers, as I have neither the budget nor the space for them, but it would bug me not to have gotten them... lol (Sorry.) Agreed. One of the MOC's I like best is a series of individual rooms / scenes connected. https://imgur.com/user/Penguinelo (they've also done nice Hufflepuff & Slytherin common room builds) Which interiors are you looking forward to seeing / really missing? (I'm adding something for the Hufflepuffs to my above oddly lav-centric list... ) Boathouse I get (although I still think the bookends of Snape's experiences in the Shrieking Shack were better from a story telling standpoint, but they're not movie canon ). But the Owlery? I couldn't place it on the map, and I can't really think of anything key taking place there, and of course all those owls are always a budget issue... So I'm curious, what makes you want it? Do you look at the layout and feel it's missing, or why is it resonating for you? The original display of the GH from the toy fair even had a duelling platform that was made from the tables. (There was also some mechanical feature to it that I've never seen video of in action. If anyone has, would you mind sharing a link? In all the ones I've seen it was static.) I believe the current thinking was we can create the stage at will from the parts included. But maybe they'll release it again as a small set with an affordable Lockhart. Oi! Mitts off the advent calendars! (I think I'm in love... ) The book exclusive figs, when they aren't just variants but actual figs not otherwise available (Tom Riddle *sigh*), are a real thorn in my side, however. Oh I hope not. Given we always get HRH, that's already three figs down, and I really like fleshing out my collection. But otoh I'm also not all that keen on FB, so it's for the best... @ArneNielsen - thanks for sharing your views on the Anglia. I'm not a car person. (If I note the number of doors a car has, that's real progress.) And frankly I groaned when they included a second Anglia in this series instead of Hagrid's (Sirius') motorcycle with sidecar. It's always good to be reminded that there are folks out there with very different points of view.
  19. If he's represented by a brown 1x1 round plate, then yes. Finally!
  20. Nice job, @KA1 Following this through to the present series as @MaxHeadroom was talking about how much the sets from which book had cost, in the same vein I made the following chronological list of sets. (Not by release date, but by when in the books they'd occur based on items / minifigs included in the sets and their prominence. So for instance the Great Hall set is both early (and late) in PS, and (early and) late in CoS based on the boat, Quirrel, the Mirror of Erised, tables that also serve as a duelling stage for the duelling club, and the basilisk.) Philosopher's Stone - $254 ($210 of which is also from other books / movies) 4 Privet Drive - 75968 - PA and CoS $70 Harry's Journey to Hogwarts - 30407 - PS $4 Hogwarts Great Hall - 75954 - PS and CoS $100 Quidditch Match - 75956 - PS $40 Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2019 - 75964 - Various Movies (mostly PS and CoS) $40 Chamber Of Secrets - $695 ($610 of which is also from other books / movies) 4 Privet Drive - 75968 - PA and CoS $70 Diagon Alley - 75978 - CoS and HBP $400 Hogwarts Whomping Willow - 75953 - CoS $70 Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2019 - 75964 - Various Movies (mostly PS and CoS) $40 Hogwarts Great Hall - 75954 - PS and CoS $100 Aragog's Lair - 75950 - CoS $15 Prisoner of Azkaban - $200 The Knight Bus - 75957 - PoA $40 Hogwarts Express - 75955 - PoA (although it's really applicable to any of the early movies, as long as Lupin is ignored) $80 Expecto Patronum - 75945 - PoA $20 Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue - 75947 - PoA $60 Goblet of Fire - $230 Beauxbatons' Carriage: Arrival at Hogwarts - 75958 - GoF $50 Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge - 75946 - GoF $30 Hogwarts Clock Tower - 75948 - GoF $90 Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2020 - 75981 - GoF $40 The Rise of Voldemort - 75965 - GoF $20 Order of the Phoenix - $50 Hogwarts Room of Requirement - 75966 - OotP $20 Forbidden Forest: Umbridge's Encounter - 75967 - OotP $30 Half-Blood Prince - $600 ($400 of which is also from other books / movies) Diagon Alley - 75978 - CoS and HBP $400 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower - 75969 - HBP $100 Attack on the Burrow - 75980 - HBP (and to a lesser degree CoS) $100 Misc. Hogwarts Castle (nanoscale) - 71043 - Various Movies (PS, CoS, PoA, GoF, OotP) $400 Diagon Alley (nanoscale) - 40289 - Various Movies, promotional set Harry Potter Minifigure Collection - 5005254 - Various Movies (PS, PoA, OotP, HPB, DH) Hogwarts Students Accessory Set - 40419 - Various Movies $15 Hedwig - 75979 - Various Movies $40 Newt's Case of Magical Creatures - 75952 - FBaWtFT $50 Grindelwald's Escape - 75951 - FB:tCoG $20 Obviously once you have enough pieces of the castle, you don't need to purchase something like it for later releases (and that skews the sets from more general at the beginning of a series to more specific later on), but it was interesting (for me at least) to see they'd allocated fairly significant individual budgets for scenes from PoA and GoF, and to a slightly lesser degree HBP, and not much for sets unique to PS or OotP. (I want the darn troll. lol And maybe a Fluffy, if they can do a good job with it.) I thought it was also interesting how much of the budget had already been allocated for CoS (even if we ignore the D2C DA set). I'd greatly underestimated that, and it makes me slightly less hopeful for an actual Chamber of Secrets / Slytherin dungeon set now. (It also makes me wonder if that was such a fan fave as books / movies go...) But off of this I also assume they'll be revisiting OotP in the future as they have the older movies in more recent waves.
  21. I'd have liked Justin, too. Thus far they've avoided saying Parma is one House or another by only releasing one of her, in her dress robes for the Yule Ball.
  22. Wow what a fantastic build! You're quite right to be proud of it, you've done an incredible job with it.
  23. Nice! Great details, too. (Although I still haven't spotted the bear... lol) Thanks for sharing it.
  24. Wow, you did a fantastic job with the increasingly smaller carriages and the perspective on this build. Great work, thanks for sharing it.
  25. I wouldn't count on it. I can't think of major scenes with her in later films beyond getting fired by Umbridge, and I doubt they'd make a set of it. (The last time Trelawney appeared was a generic castle set from third year (think of the scene where Hermione quits the class in PoA and Harry has the Grimm), and we're sort of past third year now in the current wave.) Have you tried bricklink?
