  1. Great set, great review. Thanks for doing these reviews, Clone OPatra. This is the set I planned on buying at least two of (by contrast I'm not sure I want the Fluffy set at all). This is a good set for its price, and the minifigs alone justify owning at least two instances. How easy will it be to close the hole in the floor? Is it light grey or blue grey?
  2. Fwiw, the S@H in Germany still has 01. June listed as well, and neither zusammengebaut nor bricksfanatics has updated on the story (two guesses who's been checking today), but I have found a couple more stores here that had the set on pre-order that have now had to change delivery date to August (including Smyths, the TRU successor, which isn't some small shop), but on the other hand Amazon also still lists 02. June, so... This might end up being a question of lego's contracts with different stores, whom they have to deliver to first. (I'm still not buying "cash grab" as an explanation.) ETA: one listed "Verschiebung durch LEGO® auf Street Date 02.08.2021" as the reason for the delay. (Verschiebung durch LEGO = Postponed by Lego) I guess "Street Date" is a thing?
  3. If you want a better quality builds, I think the elf club house 10275 and the gingerbread house 10267 both fit nicely into a Hogsmeade MOC.
  4. Thanks! Great review. I think the trick for me will be to stop trying to see the Great Hall section as the Great Hall (and just use the 2018 version instead), and just treat it as another classroom, and then the small dimensions are less of an issue. With the vaulted ceiling, it would even make a nice DADA classroom complete with hanging skeleton.
  5. But I need to know, which ones are Harry, Ron and Hermione? Yes, an unregistered user (Der Dennis) commented that the issue 1) was global and 2) included the S@H, remains to be seen if it's true. (After last year's king wotsit brouhaha, I've grown more cautious. ) Thursday onwards has been a bank holiday here and in Denmark, so I think they weren't available to comment. The timing when the news broke was unfortunate, I'm sure they'll release something Monday. As to the slight uproar, I agree with you on that score (in particular I imagine it won't be fun for the shop owners having to explain this to the disappointed customers), but the tone was immediately one of 'lego is doing this out of pure greed' etc, which is a ridiculous leap given the facts at hand. A little benefit of the doubt and kinder dispositions really wouldn't go amiss.
  6. "Extremely toxic" no, that's a fair enough characterisation. (Ironically I was trying not to be so negative... ) I don't know if it was ever good, but it's gone very badly wrong in recent months. Yeah, I still read there, but posting...
  7. Hey, I haven't seen anyone here mention this yet, but zusammengebaut is reporting that the 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets will be a lego S@H exclusive here in Germany and apparently at least in some of continental Europe for the first couple of months (kicking off yet another wave of anti-lego whinging; the German speaking fandom is fairly toxic ) despite being able to preorder it for several weeks now. Current release date in retail stores is the 2. August; the lego S@H still has the 1. June listed. So the chances of picking it up cheaper elsewhere (initially) just tanked. I'd be curious to hear if other areas are seeing this happen as well, or if our aforementioned toxicity is having an effect on prioritisation.
  8. Think number of minifigs for the size of a set. If the set isn't too large, there won't be but so many, and there are characters you 'need' for certain scenes that they'd want or have to include instead. Sometimes they find ways to offer the rest elsewhere. Sort of like how nearly half the duelling scene figs are missing from the CoS set. We get Harry and Lockhart (and even Justin with the snake), but no Snape, no Malfoy. But you can pick the two of them up together and not too expensively by getting the Potions Moments set. Or the Polyjuice Mishap not including Moaning Myrtle, but we got her in the CMF instead.
  9. @lego_guyon02 (Or anyone else) Where's the official list?
  10. I thought it nicely echoed this year's Amelia Earheart GWP, who I assume was the RW inspiration for the character/ her story. But it also made me wonder if we might be seeing her in future FB films. None of those others mentioned should still be around during the time those stories are set. (With the possible exception of Grunnion, whom I don't recall.)
  11. I know Ashnflash reviewed the Brickheadz, thought some others were kicking about.
  12. I've since figured out which one you thought was Madam M, and at least we're not talking about the same fig, so that's a relief. (And having looked at the pictures of her, I really wish they'd included a ... ruff? (fur collar) with her Yule Ball minifig. As was, I'd sort of forgotten about that collar.) That definitely has to be Snape. Never mind the black robes, aside from Flamel, he's the only one not smiling. (How much more Snape-like can you get? ) If it's handled like the Vidiyo BeatBit tiles, which I assume it will be, I don't think you can get dupes within a single set. At least I haven't seen any complaints to that effect.
  13. Snape never gets any love. This legit cracked me up. Pleased to see they included him, however. Agree it's Merlin. The franchise pretty much ignored there being two different Dumbledores, even though it would have been so easy to go: "magic" and carry on, so I can't see them highlighting it here. But I think it's also a fortuitous choice for the Merlin representation, so nice work there by the designers. I thought Seraphina was Celestine, but I think you're right. Not so sure Madam Maxime is included, however. (Please tell me you aren't seeing Olympe Maxime where I'm seeing Severus Snape... )
  14. Agreed, and that's what worries me about Professor McGonagall's inclusion, because that came after the BOH, iirc. I don't think they'd give us two Dumbledores, so Merlin seems a good fit. As for the remaining eight... Helga Hufflepuff. I'd expect Flamel as well, particularly because he appeared in the series. Other characters that seem likely... Headmaster Dippet, Celestine Warbeck (singer), Newt. If we don't get the trio, fingers crossed, then maybe three of the following: Gwenog Jones (Holyhead Harpies Captain and beater), Herpo the Foul (first known creator of the Basilisk), Miranda Goshawk (author of the Standard Book of Spells), Myron Wagtail (Weird Sisters singer), Mungo Bonham (Healer, founded St. Mungo's), Gunhilda of Gorsemoor (if we don't get a picture of her statue somewhere that is; developed the cure for Dragon Pox). I think they'll try to include a few more witches as there were only two amongst the ones we've seen so far. Less likely: Ignatia Wildsmith (invented Floo Powder), Circe, and Morgan LeFay or Queen Maeve, Bowman Wright (invented the Snitch) And I still expect Paracelsus' inclusion as a bust somewhere eventually. Beetle the Bard oddly doesn't seem to have a Chocolate Frog card. Were there any other historical characters that you guys expect to put in an appearance?
  15. Between the hair, beard and bow tie, I think so, too.
  16. Can someone point me towards the box art leak? Or DM me the pic if you have it? Thanks.
  17. Yes. And the results were probably worse because other people were able to fish out the interesting figs from those on offer. (Moody I felt was one of the better ones, because he was basically two characters.) My answer basically mirrors @Salix right down to eventually buying the whole box. (Which obviously left me with more Cedrics than anyone could reasonably want or need...)
  18. Yes! I want all three. Putting them in Quidditch robes gets me three of the four uniforms, and I have the school uniforms for them to attend classes. Add in Zacharias Smith and we have all four. New faces or hair pieces would help a lot, but I planned to have the Quidditch figs in the Great Hall, corridors and classrooms. At school the students on teams often wore their uniforms the day of matches, pretending they did so at Hogwarts solves my issue with having everyone in identical shirts. I also interspersed some of the old Quidditch jumpers for more variety, even just for regular students.
  19. Hmm. Right you are, I was more pleased when I got the first one. (Which is probably the reaction that should count.) Unfortunately I was also fairly annoyed when I got the second (and third...), because the name on the jersey meant it really couldn't be used for anything else. I guess I sort of averaged my reactions and took the mean value. As was, I actively looked for more Dracos. Looking at BL prices, Draco seems to go for a little more than Cedric, but both are on the cheap end of the spectrum. (Also: the green broom was/is useful for QQS MOCs, because only having one model to sell was sort of rubbish.)
  20. Didn't realise how happy I'd be with Quidditch players in a CMF until @Metanoios91 described them. Bring it on, lego. ---- EDIT: basically what @Salix and @CloneO Patra said . Right, so instead I'll ask: how many of you picked up multiples of the student accessory pack, and how many of you are likely to do the same for the inevitable Quidditch version? Bonus question: and how many of you are likely to do so despite not liking Quidditch? ---- That said, chuffed to bits we didn't get yet another Cedric or Cho, and pleased as punch with miscellaneous witchards - but I can't see myself buying more than one of the new character packs, can anyone else? The worst one for me was Cedric. You liked Draco less?
  21. (emphasis mine) I don't know how many times I've said pretty much this with regards to this year's sets, and yet... I've concluded they are governed by complete different parameters than I'd expect (sure, let's introduce a whole new style why don't we?), and I haven't a read on them at all.
  22. @living_off_lego, I agree, I'd have tried for the Great Hall, but in its absence the Whomping Willow set is a CoS set with a lot of memorable scenes, and then you could still afford a second set like the PoA Knight Bus. WW is not an iconic build, though, but I'm not sure if that matters to you? Other than that, the Clock Tower will probably retire before the Astronomy Tower, and is GoF orientated (the next book in the series), whereas the AT is a HBP set. If you can get in on sale or at least take advantage of the double VIP points, they're could even be enough to pick up a smaller set as well. ETA: Just checked and Target still had GH available online And Walmart is showing it's in stock and free 2 day delivery
  23. But we've already had the House Crests this year as art sets... That seems a bit much. I wonder how they're selling.
  24. How sure are we it’s Dudley and not Neville? They both have pyjama scenes in the first book, and I thought there was some speculation it might be Longbottom from the scene where Hermione Petrificus Totaluses him as they leave the dorms.
