  1. And another perfect ship in an even magnificant colour. I dont understand why lego always uses reddish brown, I like the dark one a lot more. Luckily I was able to buy a big lot of 1x4 plates in dark brown so I hope to get some more of this colour in the builds! Do you only use knots in the ropes or do you glue them at some points as well? Until know I used only some black rope with small diameter which needed at least a double knot to not fall apart so I glued it especially for the shrouds.
  2. Okay now I know with which to start when I may have children one day! Thanks!
  3. Great to see a fortress situated in a more oriental style like this hungarian one!
  4. Is there even a foto with you having the crown on your head and the goblet full of wine?
  5. what a build, never had pirates from duplo, when did they came as sets? Your familys fleet is as fearsome as possible in duplo, too!
  6. Nice tower, I love that it is quite "massive" not as skinny as the most towers around here and especially those in the official sets. The size also bring a spot to the nice window and door decorations. This would fit quite well with the big fortress which has a form of a pentagon (which is also on ideas). Did not find the link in this moment...
  7. I have been to havanna and your rendition fits perfect, I always wondered if the city was so colourful in 1717 like it is today (even when its a bit corroded nowaday due to the salty air from the sea). I am building a harbour imaginated by Cartagena de Indias right now, this would fit in perfectly. Unfortunately my collonial building isnas good as these...
  8. So cuute! :D Somehow I immediatly have to think again about one of my favourite books: The 131⁄2 Lives of Captain Bluebear with its dwarf pirates riding the malmstroem, I dont know if it is popular in english speaking countries... We need some blue bear minfig so I can build a nice MOC!
  9. Wow what a great galleon, you know what I love is about lego is that it has always a level of abstracting the original which spices up my imagination. So when you see a lego pirate ship, like the original barracuda, you can see with the help of the imagination a perfect galleon. What you did is bringing the baracuda up to this what I expect it to look through my imagination, but now its real. Unbelieveable! Cant say much more the the people before, keep up with the work! Only one thing, you really want to cut the original lego parts for the shrouds?!
  10. Wow, have seen this one before on several websites, all together insane, perfect artwork as well. Thumbs up for all, I quite like that you have made the main and foresail caught up, that provides the best view on the deck! And a detachable under water ship is even more satisfying!
  11. Wow this thing is huge, great work! Looks like a lot of work, is it empty inside like the cabin at the stern? I dont know who wants to buy this monster because it is so big but I hope you will find a new captain for it, the work put into it is way to much to dismantle it.
  12. Thats a good point, I will make some better when I catch some more sunlight next time! When I was a child I had the same opinion (it was also the lonely pirates opponent) as well because the pirateships are mostly bigger but today I kind of like the set especially how they put all the 4 main colours in and for me it works. When I built it I did not like the brick build cannons at all but with time I changed my mind. Unfortunately I dont own a lot of wedge plate 2x3. Probably I can build some before making the side pictures... Thanks at all!
  13. Hm, I am no native english speaker but I am referring to the nearly square sail (built out of two triangular sail from 6280, best seen on the 5th foto) at the aftmost mast which is in the direction of the ship, i think another name is "driver sail" Wikipedia Spanker.
  14. Hi everybody! after seeing the wonderulf WIP "The Parrot" I wanted to share my old MOC on the small white hull pieces of the 6280 as well: The Armada Brig The ship is build only with original Lego-parts except a few more strings and it was the first one I build using all the modern slopes. Therfore I was very proud of the bow which was raised by to rows of slopes and the working achor mechanism there. The captains cabin can be opened from top. It includes a big table, a collection of flags taken from all the different sunk ships and all the other stuff a captain needs: The spanker sail is made out of two of the 6280 sails as well: Take a look at my Flickr Album Armada Brig to see more datailed fotos! I am looking forward on your thoughts on the ship, please consider its already 3-4 years old, from my time I just came back to Lego
  15. First I was very impressed that you managed to get 3 mast on it but then I realized you have even used 3 of the middle hull parts! I like the ship and the small hull pieces make them very sleeky. I like the sieds and especially the stern, probably you can add some more detailed pattern on the stern with all the new 1x1 tiles (1/4 cirle etc.). Would nice to see it once in real bricks with some rigging!
  16. Thats an interesting colour scheme, which shade of green is used? I think the ship is well done but I would improve the sails somehow but I am not sure how. In my opinion, I would say the square sails are a bit slim and the spanker can be improverd, too. The captain fits the ship very well! Well done!
  17. Wow thats a nice fleet in progress! I would wish to have so many ships I am working on in such a good shape and even the parts to continue building on all of them. The green one looks a bit like the dutchman, probably due to the colour. I think we all are looking forward to see a new ship from you! In fact at the moment my problem is more that I dont want to spend so much time for making good fotos (I dont have a good camera and even worse no good light system which is even worse in winter times...). I have some stuff finished and even some older MOCs (from the time before I joined this forum, even if some of them have more 90s original Lego style nowadays). Probably now I feel challenged by Sebeus so I have to take some photos and publish something in the near future
  18. Nice build, my favorite part is the subtile skull in the mountain. These are commonly featured in the old lego sets but their are mostly very flashy white which looks always a bit like a comic... So well done! I would say not every construction is stable enough to be build (especial the digital designs). From the digital files i think its easy to make an instruction which is provided by some of the design software. In my case I only build with real bricks and it will take forever to rebuild the model and then making an instruction. I think you have to build it again digital to do it right. I once tried it with fotos for a small alternative build of an set for rebrickable but that takes terrifying long so would not do it again... Also when I see something I like, e.g. in this inspiring forum, for me it is part of the challenge to figure out how the model is build. And then probably I will have my own idea in the process to create my own design ;)
  19. Wow, I do not have any words to say more then the ones before so I continue in admiring silently your fantastic build...
  20. Wow another great rendition of the Dutchman, must be as big as the one from @Sebeus I! I ca not imagine that this monster is still one third bigger than my one and I even build it so that it just fits in my display :D What material are the sails? Its nice that they are a bit transparent. The only thing I woulg change is, that there is in my opinion a bit to much bright green. But I know its hard to build with real bricks and I had not all the pats I wanted as well... So all together incredible work, congrats for that!
  21. Wow what a build! Really love this one! I do not know but it seems to be really big... is there any connection between the segments? Lego often uses technic pins for that... I even could imagine the set only consits of one or two wall parts but there are the instructions for all parts so if you buy more than one of it you can build the whole star shape. That could help to keep the size and costs of the potential set down... I wish you all the best an will support it!
  22. I want to wish all a great christmas time, as good as it can be in these crazy times! For that reason I want to share my small build for our lego-communitys task: build something corresponding to christmas. In the given 45min I came up with the following small scene:
  23. Thats quite a sleeky version of the barracuda, nice. Besides the cannons and sails it could be made out of two sets? Havent build mine so i am not sure about it... What do the crowd think? The small sails on top of the masts are self made or which set is the origin? Or from one of the sail-replacement-retailers on ebay?
  24. very nice scene! First thought about why he is not asleep but know I read the text as well :D
  25. Thanks! Aktually there are only black 1x12 plates left (first picture under the brick seperator) left to build a mast so i think that will not work to minimize technic... Also the construction is able to move the booms so you could adjust the sails as well.
