  1. I was kinda meaning the other way, that is they set it to the max until they know. Yeah that's what I thought. Is this significantly more popular then last year's or not really? As last year sets were heavily discounted around Christmas, but I wonder if that won't be so likely? Oh, yay! That's exactly what I was wondering lol. Not sure if there's stock issues? It's a popular theme and they can only produce so many sets. People are allowed to be disappointed. I see too many comments everywhere on everything at the moment of people saying "there's a pandemic, get our priorities straight" - yes, that's more important, but being disappointed and caring about the pandemic are not mutually exclusive.
  2. I don't really see the issue. It's only a couple of months wait, it's not like a year. So not really significantly longer than you'd be waiting if you didn't want to spend all that at once anyway?
  3. Is the "60 days" a placeholder for "we're not sure"? As it's not said that on any sets I've seen on back order recently, yet the Creator Pirate Ship and now the Burrow both say it. This is awesome, I love it
  4. Lol sorry I had just woken up and hadn't gained the ability to read today yet. Oops
  5. That’s still my inability to read
  6. Looks like Astronomy Tower is popular... out of stock on Amazon until the 29th!
  7. Good luck! I’ve got my last tomorrow (kind of neglected it compared to my others, glad it’s open book and 24 hours to do it...). I’ve been getting a few Lego sets to help me through it too, and also reduce lockdown boredom (some people on here suggested getting the HP advent calendar and it made a great lockdown calendar!) although I had to limit the number and size so I can take it all home.
  8. The buildable Hedwig isn't really my thing but does look cool, so I can't really say that. I may get it on offer though as it's not too expensive. Other than that... no, not really! They all look super awesome. Maybe the RoR, not because it's bad but because it's a small set? I really can't say! I've actually only bought two Lego sets in store (excluding CMFs) since I was a kid probably, the Aragog's Lair and Expecto Patronum. I agree there's nothing like getting one in person though! But I'd rather just order online if it's cheaper which it usually is. This probably won't change what with covid either. Tbf I'm not gonna be buying any of them till they're on sale. Astronomy Tower was Β£80 at Amazon until today and Privet Drive was Β£60, but I'm waiting for a bigger discount (that was an unfortunate typo... I'll leave it to your imagination) than that - I'd like to work at completeing my 2018/19 collection before I move onto the new sets too much!
  9. We don't know. But none of them are listed as retiring soon so you should be safe for a while. They are still selling well so we have all agreed it wouldn't be surprising to see a longer than usual shelf life, especially for flagship sets like the Great Hall. I wouldn't worry about driving all that way as they're gonna be around for at least a while longer.
  10. It’s okay, we can tell you if they suck ?
  11. Contact Lego and they add them with no issues, is what I've heard :)
  12. Even Barracuda Bay, which is notoriously on back order for several weeks, was around for several hours on release date. I think it'll be okay. Maybe you could order one just in case now, and then cancel? (Although then there's one less set for you to get the Hot Rod using and you've become what you sought to destroy ) It's also not got a "new" label next to the theme yet so that might slightly decrease the number of people buying for now. --- On another note, people with more experience than me - can we expect discounts on some of the 2018 sets coming? As shops clear stock to make way for the new stuff. Or will it just happen when the 2018 ones retire?
  13. It's a good thing though, you'll be able to get Lego to send the correct one so you'll have a bonus torso
  14. Wait are you talking about me? I guess you're right, I even said it was a terrible idea when it was discussed before lol. I guess I now feel I wouldn't mind if it were split in half and wasn't just one $400 set. Sorry
  15. Yeah! It could replace the Hogwarts sets (hear me out). As much as I love the Hogwarts extensions, there's only so far they can go with it. Of course there's the courtyard and bell towers, but there's no guarantee they're gonna continue to do all of them if the theme continues. Would the general public get bored of Hogwarts extensions? This would also allow them to retire some of the older ones (like Great Hall) without releasing a new ones that can be connected to the older ones, but won't be available to purchase with it. Meanwhile, they could replace it with a series of DA modulars. They could always do some smaller Hogwarts sets like RoR, but this would allow for a completely new location to build up. And then they could replace DA with a new series of Hogwarts parts, Star Wars repeat set style.
  16. If the price wasn't real but it being DA was... tbh I think I'd prefer that. I've always said we need as complete a DA as possible (at least in terms of the major locations) but if its a $200 set instead of a $400 one, I'd be quite happy with Gringotts, Olivanders and maybe Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. And then, next year they could do something that I always said I didn't want; they could do a separate Borgin & Burke's. Oh another thing I find odd. Why are his hints so inconsitently vague/specific? Sometimes it's the changing tires, which he does as a really vague post. Then sometimes it's quite literally, Borgin & Burke's will be in Diagon Alley, as a really specific reply to a comment! Why is it so varying in specificity and why would he reply to a random comment with that substantial info and not as a post? Seems weird he makes out he has a plan in his latest post, and yet some of his hints have been placed so randomly and in an unplanned way...
  17. Yeah I still don’t understand why people are still suggesting DA is micro scale... do they not realise how huge Hogwarts was and how impossible it would be to make a long line, but a line nonetheless, of shops so huge?
  18. That's the step that isn't happening. Nobody is complaining. People are allowed to discuss leaks, as Clone OPatra just said, and there's nothing wrong with finding this exciting and enjoyable. Similarly, there's nothing wrong with hoping it's rue and being excited for that possibility, as long as they realise there's a possibility it isn't true. It's quite easy to enjoy talking about them without setting yourself up for disappointment as you describe. So please, there's no need to look down on people who enjoyed discussing such a leak, and are now continuing to discuss it in terms of the fact it may not be true. If you don't want to join in with the discussion (and as far as I can remember, you haven't been, so I don't know why you've turned up now, apart from to say "told you so" and be rude) then that's fine but don't complain about others talking about it.
  19. And I would be in my dark ages and therefore be very sad I missed all three Harry Potter series of sets I think you're being a bit harsh... it's only a bit of fun. Nobody here is angry that there's the possibility DA isn't true when they believed a leak... so I don't think there's any need to act like people deserved to be punished and shouldn't have been discussing it... You seem like you're trying to take the moral high ground when nobody has done anything wrong. I wasn't letting myself get overhyped for the leaks in case they weren't true or weren't good, but I didn't look down on those who are a little disappointed that something awesome-sounding isn't (if it isn't) true.
  20. If this makes any sense: although kingnono's hints have been very vague and this raises suspicion, they've also been very... specifically vague. As in he's written some strange stuff which would be very weird to think of off the top of your head.
  21. Lol yup. If DA turns out not to exist and it's another microscale, although I'll be disappointed, I'll be secretly happy I'll be able to buy some other cool Lego stuff without worrying so much! Thnking about it objectively, if there were no leaks and someone had randomly said "wouldn't it be cool if Lego did a $400 Diagon Alley"... Would we have all shot them down and said "that's never happening!" I'm new to the Lego scene for big sets, but how likely would TLG be to even do that? Hogwarts Castle was $400 yes - but it had an alternative, the minifig-scale sets. For a minifig-scale DA, there would be no alternative. As much as I said "no they wouldn't split a DA set into multiple smaller sets"... wouldn't that make more sense? For such an iconic location, would Lego be likely to limit it to such an exclusive audience? The 2011 DA was expensive and a D2C but it was certainly more affordable to a lot of people if they saved up for it... whereas a $400 set is not... Maybe it's absolutely something Lego would be likely to do so please do prove me wrong if you so wish. Lol yeah I was like "oh I can BL the figures" and then realised if I have no interest in collecting Fantastic Beasts minifigs, why do I want these? It's collecting for the sake of collecting lol
  22. To be fair, it's only been 4 hours. He could be asleep, working, driving, etc for all we know.
  23. Ah, so there's been a leak, and by consequence a huge anti-leak. Hmm. I mean I said that I'd kind of de-hyped myself and am happy to just take it as it comes... So I'm glad I did after this lol. Guess we'll see how it pans out. While I'd have loved a D2C Diagon Alley, if it doesn't exist then it's not like it was going to exist, so I don't think I'd be devastated. If this is the case I'll definitely have a go at MOCing it.
  24. What's happened, why are there suddenly 3 unread pages of comments...
