  1. Thanks Oky, your comments are always appreciated! I'm glad you got the BTAS vibes from it, I tried to add in a little of that. I totally agree with what you say about the roof windows needing to be darker, but unfortunately I do not have any others so these will have to do for now. I also agree with the tan and dark blue not working as well as it should on the first floor, and so eventually I'll be posting a 2.0 thread featuring a few colour changes. I've kept the blue and tan, but the blue on the floor is now brown and I can tell you it looks much better already. I know! I feel so utterly embarrassed that I forgot one, that i've immediately shot one now, look to the bottom of the post or edited front page to see it! I'm currently working on Wayne Manor and Gotham City Park (which doubles as Poison Ivy's hideout), but I can tell you that a small Mr Freeze Lab is in planning atleast. Thanks a heap LuxorV, I always appreciate your input. I'm glad people are responding well to the modular part, especially since I got my hands so raw refitting it all the time I agree, that's a great idea and thanks for it. I'll try and whip up a background soon, as well as a shot of it next to the Iceberg Lounge. Righteous Squid! I had feared you gone, good to see you again! And I'm off to smash my head against a wall now, I never even thought of that facade idea! Brilliant! Hope you don't mind if I do the same at some point? I'm not too good with gargoyles honestly, I too use grey figs and lions, though I have a design I'm using on Wayne Manor that isn't terribly frightening (even cute perhaps) but I do think it works. I'm going to make a Lego one just for you And now something that should've been there from the beginning, Two-Face and his cronies Romulus and Remus demand everyone get down on the floor: Another shot: Clicky They hold up the guards: "Heads I go through with it all, tails I only take half!" Lucky for Gotham Bank Two-Face only takes half, and heads to his getaway car: But someone is watching him as the dual coloured car approaches, a caped crusader perhaps? Batman prepares to save the day! Batbrick Away!
  2. Ah, thanks for the clarification, I think you've actually told us this before but I forgot Excellent, it will be great getting a real reason too, can you give us a date when the storyline is expected to resume" And don't say Feb 8th Anyway, I'm off to create an altar at which to worship you. Batbrick Away!
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone! Wow, you sure love your puns don't you? Thanks for commenting! Appreciated, always good to have another Batman fan around! I'm glad you love the details, as since I'm not a very good builder in terms of architecture I try to cram as much in as possible as a substitute. I'll be sure to try out some gargoyle designs soon then. Hah! you're right, it does need that intro! Thanks for commenting friend, I would agree with the extra floor but unfortunately I am on a massive brick ration so it is impossible for now. But you never know in the future... Darn! I had completely forgotten to show that, I was to have Two-Face robbing it! Thanks theriddler, I was going to have "Gotham Bank" displayed on the roof but unfortunately it was to be too big and I didn't have enough 1x1 black pieces. Thanks Big Cam, your comments are always welcome I'm planning to update at some point with pics of a robbery. As said, I reckon I will add gargoyles so thanks for the advice, but sadly another floor will be a long way off with my brick rations. Thanks ILikePi, I love your username. I'm glad you like the playable side, since I went to great and annoying pains to have it so, especially with the removable roof section which took a while to make less fragile. It did take a while thanks, probably too long since I never worked on it for longer than 40 minutes maximum at a time, I'm quite slow and lazy these days I reckon a sidewalk will be an addition that won't be long off actually, thanks a heap for that advice! Batbrick Away!
  4. I have no problem with slow films, I've made it through 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris with my brain intact. Once Upon a Time in America is one of my favourite ever films and that goes for 3 hours and 40 minutes with very little action throughout. I've heard of how New Hope ripped quite a bit from Hidden Fortress, I'll definitely give it a look. Cool, I'll definitely see it, though honestly I believe there are very little classic films that are outdated so Pulp Fiction will be very far down the line for me, especially since I love being proved so wrong with my assumptions every time I watch an old film expecting it to be a letdown. 2001 is amazing in terms of scientific accuracy and space sequences that still hold up, but think of it more as an experience than a film. I probably won't watch it again atleast for many years but it is definitely worth seeing atleast once. I wouldn't put it as high on lists as many do though. Citizen Kane is one of my favourites and I only got it last year. Holds up very well for the most part despite a few transitions and a certain Cockatoo that scares the crap outta me (you'll know it when you see it). Casablanca is my favourite current film and that was the one that shattered any notions I had of old films. It really is magnificent and the dialog is some of the best and funniest wit I've heard, especially from Captain Renault. Also, I haven't seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest in its entirety, nor It's a Wonderful Life or any Hitchcock films outside of The Birds and Psycho. Batbrick Away!
  5. You're punishing me for something aren't you? Batbrick Away!
  6. I've never seen Seven Samurai, though I've ordered it, which is pretty big for me considering its often placed in the top ten of the greatest films of all time. Haven't seen Goodfellas yet either. It's sittingo n my shelf but I haven't done so yet. Never watched Pulp Fiction either, but I personally don't like Tarantino's style. I can respect it and I know he loves and takes inspiration from Sergio Leone's films, but his characters unlike Leone's films are too unlikeable for me. Batbrick Away!
  7. Haha, I has completely forgotten about Verwaand! Poor guy has been lobotomised for a while out in the real world, though I presume its only about a month or something in-universe? Batbrick Away!
  8. Edited image courtesy of the greatest person ever: TheBrickster: Sorry fellas, the cake was a lie once again. I've been fairly inactive for a while now but my Batman fanhood cannot be denied, so here I present Gotham Bank: This one has been a while in the making as I've been very fussy and only worked on it for roughly 20-30 minutes on it at at time. I'm a fan of the more Gothic Gotham architecture but wanted the financial district style to be more cold and concrete looking: It's technically not entirely finished as I've yet to print off the "Gotham National Bank" signs that will go one the dark grey tiled mid banner. also, because of a lack of those awesome windows this is a corner building with this side running down an alleyway, hence the use of those cool stickers and moveable access ladders: It's quite modular or whatever its called, and the back section is open to see inside: I'm especially happy with how the "BANK" sign came out, it really needed something to offset the largely boxy nature. If there is criticism that it is still to boxy I'll probably add a couple of gargoyles and roof access to offset that more so: I'm really happy to have those roof windows as they are pretty much exactly the same kind that you see in the comics and animated series that Batman peeks through: Batspying! The floors separate with ease: The inside when empty: And now full of Gothamites. You may notice that the walls also remove easily to allow for maximum camera angles: Another view: Details include a fishtank, a hat rack, a safe, and several paintings. Behind the counter here is a slightly more drab colour scheme and access to files and the safe: I like this shot: The big safe itself: Which opens to reveal a portion of the gold reserve: Alternatively one can also view this via the removable walls: The upper floor is much more spacious with easily removable roof: Here the board of directors with Bruce Wayne make decisions, with Bruce often opposing dirty money flow from various mob bosses such as Maroni or Falcone: Details include ATM machines, work desks, and service behind bullet proof glass. The other room boasts an impressive collection of old night armour: And important files: Another view of the second floor: And another shot of the completed building: Two-Face and his cronies Romulus and Remus demand everyone get down on the floor: Another shot: Clicky They hold up the guards: "Heads I go through with it all, tails I only take half!" Lucky for Gotham Bank Two-Face only takes half, and heads to his getaway car: But someone is watching him as the dual coloured car approaches, a caped crusader perhaps? Batman prepares to save the day! EDIT: Three story facade version that everyone wanted to see! Third wall taken from the side. Overall I'm very happy with it and I think the boxy look will work much better when placed alongside another building such as the Iceberg Lounge. I'll update again when I have the signs finished and placed as well which should add a touch of colour and style to the outside. Comments and criticism very much appreciated, espeically if you think the roof may need a couple of gargoyles or perhaps an entry door to give it some different shape. Thanks for looking and Wayne Manor is on its way with almost half its construction done! Batbrick Away!
  9. I found the Whack-A-Fig contest finally! I am a dolt! I am SO entering this one, missed out last time and I have a special weapon up my sleeve too..... Batbrick Away!
  10. I didn't vote because I follow several reasoning. I was pretty poor with my budgeting for a while but now have found a great little niche that allows me to spend an adequate amount of money without going overboard. AFOL sets are very rare for me to purchase since I prefer mocing anyway and other sets offer me a greater range of parts normally. My process is usually in myp lanning, as I have a thorough list of things I plan to build alongside their importance. I'm currently working on Wayne Manor, which means that the Aqua, Space and Castle sets are pretty useless to me, so I'll likely not spend much this year unless I think some figs will go towards my Batman world. However the Harry Potter Castle looks wonderful for that moc, so I'll adjust my budget for it by only allowing very small purchases while on sale. Sounds ridiculous, but ultimately my method boils down to a simple "But do I NEED this set?" question. Batbrick Away!
  11. Thanks mate, just what I was looking for. Gotta say, the figs in The Burrows set are amazing! Batbrick Away!
  12. Interesting, must be a situation thing. And don't worry about offending me, I'm just really angry recently so I apologise. But I will argue that there is a greater percentage of fandom amongst younger people than you realise. Batbrick Away!
  13. Never existed, plus there were chainguns back in the Batman sets too. I really want that purple fedora and fig, but am not willing to shell out the cash. That said, very glad that Space Police continues with such awesome sets this year, even if my budget is stretched. Batbrick Away!
  14. Hah! I always enjoy these two and their crazed moon antics. And they missed the UFO! Though the plot is not exactly breakneck I really do appreciate the increasing nods to it Though I fear I'll never see Date Night, I command oyu not only to finish it immediately but then to clear out the timeline for those of us who are confused! Batbrick Away!
  15. Hahaha! I love this one too: Linky to pic. Gotta say though, a little disappointed the AU prices aren't up on Lego.com yet, guess I'll just have to wait. Batbrick Away!
  16. Okay, this is going to sound incredibly lazy but I can't find good pics of the sets anywhere, does anyone know or have al ink to where I can find them? Batbrick Away!
  17. Simply amazing! I love the dark red and all the little details, especially on the roof section. The vehicles are just as good, if this were a set I'd snatch it up immediately! I hope you don't mind if I take a little inspiration from this MOC? Batbrick Away!
  18. I'd be interested in knowing where you got this concept of "real fans" from and your notions of "this" generation, as both statements are borderline total generalisations. I've yet to meet anyone regardless of age who doesn't know of the original series, and I know many others that are of "this" generation that not only love the old series but have collections of them. Apologies for sounding rude, but your comment to me comes across as absurdly elitist and the typical cliche of the "young people these days don't know quality" gripe. That said, I was not a fan of the recent film. Batbrick Away!
  19. Heh, I always enjoy fourth wall breaking. I'm glad you brought up the issue that it was no longer even pointing at Shwartz, gave me a chuckle. Congrats to your friend! You really seem to be on a roll with these more reflective/fourth wall pieces, this was really fun to read since while I cannot really relate to your choice of toys I can really relate to that feeling of magic looking at my own old ones and how they brought me through so much more than just about anything now. That sense of wonder I get when I reread the old toy magazines I used to go through never fades however, and it is the one nostalgic feeling i would never give up. Thanks for reminding me a little of that Batbrick Away!
  20. Once Upon a Time in America. Truly a masterpiece of cinema, and I don't usually throw around annoyingly pretentious quotes like that often The film has Robert De Niro and James Woods as childhood friends who grow up to become fellow gangsters as situations begin to go awry. One of the best films I've ever seen and a few great twists in it. A few warnings though, it is very ambiguous in many ways, this is a film that asks you to fill in the gaps and decided what happened at the end depending on cynical, idealistic etc you are. It is also the longest film I've watched a 3 hours and 40 minutes, but well worth every moment. It also has quite a few scenes that don't pull any punches. Also watched The Great Escape which is another brilliant film. Glad you enjoyed the film Oky, but given that Owlman was proven right about the whole "Only one choice in an otherwise pointless existence" can we both agree he was actually the hero of the film? Batbrick Away!
  21. Don't worry about him, he's the enemy of fun, rainbows and sunshine. Some even say he eats up babies Batbrick Away!
  22. So it was actually.....Good? I'm shocked, andf now suddenly really interested! Batbrick Away!
  23. Sad to say guys, but for now I've given up on DC and Marvel comics, atleast for a while and current ones. I'll always enjoy and reread my collection, but everytime I read anything from the last several years I just get so damn angry. The rampant sexism is a major issue, as is the way that the only main characters are almost entirely white upper class Americans, retcons, never ending crisis's, plot holes I could drive the Batmobile through, everything returning to what it once was rather than progressing, every flipping death being undone making it all seem so cheap, no villain ever being redeemed or going through change because the writer's are so desperate to use them again and again, and every freakin' marriage, dating or baby is somehow killed off, done away with or completely forgotten. I just can't take stories like that anymore, which is why for atleast a large chunk of time I'll be reading really progressive stuff that has an ending and themes like Monster. Batbrick Crying Away!
  24. Amazing stuff Tin7! This really brings back funny memories. I can't believe how well you've pulled these Pokemon off, the way they fit on studs and can fit pieces in their mouths is amazing Batbrick Away!
  25. Ah thanks man, appreciate the clarifications greatly, I plan on re-reading the entire comic when KDog reaches the 300th. But you better not be muscling in on my position as "Biggest Space Comic Fan" because you'll have one heck of a brawl on your hands Batbrick Away!
