  1. Imagination you say...no, sorry, I'm still seeing Lego Neo from the Matrix coming to save the Mexican people from their computer lives Great and fun little setup here TheBrickster, I never get tired of that gate that ends up everywhere, and I love that tree stump pieces, my jealousy is fixated on you a lot recently. Great use of Luke's torso too. Batbrick Away!
  2. *breathes in* TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN! *phew* Sorry about that, but the level of tan in this creation just blew my mind more than a little. Where are those tan lion heads from, I'd rather die now than never get them! A very fun moc again TheBrickster, I really enjoy the themes you crank out when in full swing. The left tower is my favourite part of the church, the roof of it especially. However - and I think this will be the first and hopefully last time I ever say this, but I think there's too much tan, I'd like to see a little more colour variety, especially in the middle section. Batbrick Away!
  3. Thanks for the review DarthFader, this set is one I simply cannot pass up, those fleshie faces are spectacular and I simply must have another young Gordon face. However, I'm sorry to say this but I find the points you give far too generous. I think this is a result of people the internet and beyond over not "getting" the 10 point system. Getting a 5 out of 10 is good, not great but good. 8 would mean the set is flipping fantastic and homing in on perfection. Sorry, I'm just not seeing that here, probably why i prefer the simpler 5 point system. However beyond that this is a fantastic review with great pictures and wonderful insight and I thank you for sharing it with us. Batbrick Away!
  4. Amen. Thanks for the review Mariann, but I'll have to agree with Uncle here (that just sounds odd by the by), I cannot personally or objectively view this set ih a positive manner, it just seems so thrown together with an odd mishmash of colour and pieces. I'll admit the figs are great and that some of the pieces are useful but I cannot see that redeeming this set. Batbrick Away!
  5. Fantastic setup here TheBrickster, especially the new one with added church! I love the way you've positioned all the sets, do you typically have a plan when making them of how they'll be integrated? The foliage looks really nice, I just wish there was some behind the stables and next to the tower a bit more, but that's a very minor criticism really. Batbrick Away!
  6. Hu - buh - wha!? This certainly had me laughing, especially at the end, though a crossdressing bear is something for which I'll need the brain bleach to remove! But yeah, try not to do drugs in the future Batbrick Away!
  7. I like your aliens, but your Daleks are superb! Easily the best Daleks I've seen, and I was very happy with mine. However I don't like the cheese slopes at the front, I think there should be the little domes there as well. Here's how I did mine: You've certainly beaten me out of the park, but I would like to see those domes at the front too. Batbrick Away!
  8. Batbrick

    The fortress

Very neat, I love the disorganised and chaotic nature of it, especially with the mismatched wall and scrap all over the front. The fortress is a little too much on the chaotic side for me however, but still a great achievement! Batbrick Away!
  9. Oh, thank you so much, I was getting worried. Not that red isn't good, but dark red just adds a shade (get it?) of menace and ickyness to it. Batbrick Away!
  10. Beautiful tan pieces you have there TheBrickster, the use of the cheese slopes especially really sells the whole "ruins" aspect of it. Where are those slopes from? I actually quite like the minifigs, I'm not sure the white torso works but the other two look fine to me, but I'm not an aficionado for that sort of thing either. The additio of a cannon, rifle rack, food crate and loose money gives a nice semi-organised feel to it as well. Another great one! Batbrick Away!
  11. Another great one TheBrickster! Not my favourite of the theme, but good nonetheless. I love the drinking section for the horse (wish I had those transparent bricks). Good choice of minifigs too, I wouldn't want to run across those guys. The hideout itself is neat, and I like the use of inverted slopes, but I think a little bit more detail is in order. On the whole however is a worthy addition to the theme, does it have anything inside? Batbrick Away!
  12. Marvellous creation here TheBrickster, as always you impress. And also always it's the little details that really get me, the berries hanging overhead, the cups below the sign, the flag, scorpion on the gate and man drinking at the front with a croissant all add up to make the cantina even better. Great use of minfigs too, a seamless blend of old and new! Batbrick Away!
  13. Thanks for the review, this looks to be quite a good set. However I'm not sold on it, as much as I want a Buzz and Woody the parts don't seem overly generous to me. Still, I'll make up my mind when they arrive. Batbrick Away!
  14. Wonderful review! I'll be certain to get this set, the army helmets are spectacular and I love the green coats. No idea what I'll use the green faces for, but I'm sure I'll think of something good, perhaps as Poison Ivy plant-goons? The jeep is great, I really am lacking in green tiles so this is a big win for a set. Batbrick Away!
  15. Eh, I'm happy there;s not a new film frankly, as the prequels didn't have enough good elements in them to compare with the originals in my opinion. I'd rather not get inot the expanded universe, as I feel it always eventually defies and contradicts the playful and pulpy originals. What does that even mean? Is that some form of insinuation? Batbrick Away!
  16. That's a very good approach to have actually, a nice mix. I'm really enjoying the development of the characters actually, as I feel a boost in introducing them would've detracted a bit from the comic. It also adds a more serious side to the comedy by revealing the characters to be real, rounded people in their setting, rather than simply gags to be made. Hmmm, it certainly is a dilemma you have there. However, I would disagree with the statement that you can't make it "official". you may not be able to make it so in the way of being able to sell collections etcetera, but new media is a rapidly growing, dominant and powerful place of fiction and in no major way hampered by mere constraints over what properties are presented to make the story, many famous webcomics that have achieved great success are very similar (one even used pieces from boardgames such as Cluedo as characters). I can understand the problem, but don't think it is quite as large as you may think, though making your own website dedicated to it, along with your prose and other creations would be very neat and certainly garner attention, as well as possibly raising you up a few bumps on the "official" status. Alternatively bios and additional tidbits, as well as "behind-the-scenes" or insight into your writing process could prove to be very interesting and divorced mostly from the Lego medium. Anyway, laughed very much at this comic. Lt. Coldwell is one of my favourite minor characters and I feel he works very well in small doses. The return of my - er, his Dark Lord Xenu was hilarious, I wouldn't worry about being offensive as it all seems very tongue-in-cheek. Of course his highne - I mean that silly Xenu engaging in the trivial instructions of washing the ship was also a hoot. Batbrick Away!
  17. Fair enough, I can understand from a construction point-of-view. Though I still think it is a little bit too compact I appreciate it a bit more from the visual similarities with the Dragonfly. Batbrick Away!
  18. Awesome, much appreciated, those prices actually seem very reasonable to me. Batbrick Away!
  19. That image is awesome and definitely hyping me for a fullblown Atlantis set. If there is one, it had better be tan too, or someone is going down! :skull: Batbrick Away!
  20. Obviously DC for me, though my opinion can be discounted because of the obvious bias inherent. Batbrick Away!
  21. Wow, you did a good job of reading through the post. Batbrick Away!
  22. As if, that honour belongs to Blade Runner (Final Cut). But yeah, I do feel a little ashamed at not having watched it yet, I'm waiting to find the special edition though, I don't like single disc. Batbrick Away!
  23. I've been collecting classic films on DVD recently, and have bought The Terminator, The Green Mile, 2001: A Space Odyssesy and The Godfather. I watched all but 2001 recently. The Terminator: This was actually my first time seeing it and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, even though some of the effects have dated and the very 80's atmosphere is apparent. I look forward to seeing the second one which I hear is much better, but as a big fan of sci-fi I know it'll enjoy it either way. The Green Mile: A sad, sad film, but certainly very deep. I really enjoy all the acting in the film, which is superb, espeically the man who plays Percy, who made his character utterly despicable. Certainly a long film, but definitely worth watching, it has a great atmosphere and a great commentary on life and death. The Godfather: Does this really need a review? Seriously, this is a must-see film, the shots are brilliantly staged, the acting marvelous and any scene that isn't considered a classic darn well should be. Batbrick Away!
  24. Thanks mate, I appreciate your comments. Unfortunately however I cannot take credit for the safe design as it is the same one seen in the Lego Agents River Chase set. Thanks a heap for commenting Righteous Squid! I would be very happy for you to borrow a few ideas considering I've already borrowed some of yours (and made Penguin's duck!), especially since I know you'll do them even more justice than I did Thanks a lot for the comment LuxorV, always appreciated. Thanks for the comment on the photography, I'm glad you noticed. I'm not fantastic getting good light (though that helped for this one) nor getting a picture that doesn't have a little grain or blur, so I'm glad that atleast I can set up some good shots. I'll be continuing the modular aspect too, as I'm currently making Gotham Bank and other building which can interchange next to each other. Batbrick Away!
  25. Hooray! Another great creation from Righteous Squid! Love you version of Firefly, the orange "heat suit" is inspired and makes me wish I though of it, and the face is absolute perfection! Not sure about the black helmet though, I think he would work better with a grey one, or perhaps not at all? Still fantastic, here's my version for comparison (in your favour I might add): (third across obviously) The Firefly vehicle is a fantastically fun contraption! I really love the contrasts between our Batcreations Righteous Squid, as mine tends to be slightly more down-to-earth while yours embraces the marvelous fun of classic super heroics, epitomised for me by your Mr Freeze Snowmaker vehicle. The orange and black colour scheme really works, and the use of that yellow bubble canopy at the back is quite inspired and really fits in with the "firefly" theme. The flamethrowers on the wings are neatly made too, I really think you should attach a stream of flames (you know how they connect right?) to them and snap a pic! The "legs" on the bottom are another neat little function too, do they also work as landing gear? Batbrick Away!
