Favorite Summer Blockbuster Movies/Franchises?
Batbrick replied to FilmGirl27's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It can't be any worse than the comic, which was basically just a literal "**** You" to people who like comics and superheroes. I'm not kidding, the author basically writes everything with the intention of being "edgy" and offensive. Batbrick Away! -
I think people are ignoring the obvious here: conspiracy theories. This was either- a) A Bond villain base that has submerged before firing nuclear missiles at China to try and start nuclear war. b) The back of great Cthulhu's head. All hail Cthulhu, he shall return! c) Cthulhu's friend the Kraken. d) The island was destroyed in an epic battle between Aquman and Black Manta. Outrageous! Batbrick Away!

Thanks for the review Copmike, I'll definitely be getting this one, love the torso. Batbrick Away!

Yes! Finally! It has come and it is glorious, and I shall bow down and worship this storyline as though it were a God! I'll comment more tomorrow morning, because right now I'm too busy sqeeing! Batbirck Away!

I've never seen this one before Righteous Squid! I can't believe it, and it is such an awesome creation too! Fantastic modding of an actual set, I love the skulls on the front of the car. Excellent use of chains too, I approve as I love the chain pieces. The fear gas containers look great in the back, too! Batbrick Away!

Is it really a Messerschmidt though? It doesn't look much like one to me, atleast the BF109 model, is it a different plane from the same company? I think the Tiger Moth is the best, its a more faithful design with more appealing colour. Batbrick Away!

 Thanks for making my day more enjoyable Tereglith, I'll echo this statement. Hopefully atleast the action will be shot coherently this time. I went into T2 expecting to atleast see good action and effects, turns out I couldn't see either thanks to good old My Shakey Cam. Batbrick Away!

I'm curious as to why Catwoman would enlist Scarecrow. However I agree, I'd love for him to be the one villain that spans all the films, even if he's just interrogated by Batman in Arkham in the third one. Plus Cillian Murphy plays him wonderfully. Batbrick Away!

Hmmm, I agree with what Svelte said, the bley thing is quite irritating. Not that I dislike the colour, I'm currently in need it for my Gotham that I can't seem to shutup about But it would be good to see a greater variety of colour such as in the prince of Persia theme. Batbrick Away!

They also serve as enforcement for lower-scale incidents don't they? I recall Shwartz breaking up the M:Tron bar brawl. Batbrick Away!

Thanks for the pic Black Rabbit, a very cool looking Atlantis set, espeically in mecha mode. And that sea monster is really neat too, I quite like the tail design. Shame about the inclusion of the technic shooter though, it seemed like TLC was fading away from using those. Still, rare is good, and the rest of the set is sweet, though I doubt I'll buy it this is a great exclusive. Batbrick Away!

Hmmm, it's an interesting and rather effective design, but I feel its let down a lot by lack of proper colour parts. The canopy just looks plain out-of-place with the squid markings, and the large amounts of grey/silver seem a nit too much as well. I'm not ragging on your design however, which I think is really well done and looks great, and I understand you probably have a lack of proper coloured parts. Batbrick Away!

Already way ahead of you on that front Oky But is it just me, or does Lotso look like a badguy for some reason? Batbrick Away!

I'm not sure a theme can become cliche anymore than the action film genre can they both have formulas present but its in the variations that they can be successful. That said I know what you mean TheBrickster, though I don't think cliche suits so much as tiresome. I love Castle, but ultimately I think another historical theme needs the spotlight, no matter how fantastic it gets such as the Viking theme. Batbirck Away!

Agreed, Children of Men is fantastic and I love how nontraditional the hero in it is. I watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight in succession recently and they are both fantastic films. I love the differences and similarities between the two, and the villains are played fantastically. I hope the third one can live up to these standards. I think the best performance of both films is Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Batbrick Away!

Good point, it's very much a meme by now. Though mind you, Ackbar is the unsung her of the SW universe! I'm feeling much better now thanks, had a bad run with the hospital recently but I'm on the recovery! I noticed that they were the Galactic heroes version after I saw the even more weird Luke, my little brother used to have a couple of those until we blew it up (long story). Great new comics KDog, the Rancor's digestive system sure is might weird and all sorts of wrong. I laughed at the Ice Babe joke at the end of the most recent one, but the best part was the random second Luke, I did a double take on that before cracking up (no dirty pun intended). Batbrick Away!

Thanks for the fantastic review Ricecracker, this is a set I'll definitely be buying. Love the ostrich designs too. The figs in particular are great, they'll definitely be going towards Ra's Al Ghul's army for me! The katana holder is brilliant too, there are so many useful elements for Batman in this set! And of course parts and colour wise this is great too, I especially love the dark tan 2x2 tile piece with single stud, much love and usefulness for that. And that new colour is might spiffy too! Mega post update! Then from this day we must be enemies! Seriously, I was blown away when I first saw this, that first shot especially really shows your mocing skills. I'm really surprised at how green works so well with the grey, wish I'd thought of it as I have most of those pieces. Guess I'll save them for Gotham Cathedral. The little ATMs are one of my favourite touches of the whole piece, as I'm still not satisfied with my own that look more like arcade machines. I hope you don't mind if I do something similar one day, I would of course credit you. The steps are quite neat too, I love that it allows space for the vault, it really works and makes the building even bigger. Good use of those grey parrots too, I've always wanted some of those, and the barred sections are great, excellent use of the portcullis. My only complaint with the front is that the middle section with the dark grey columns seems a little bare, I think it needs something like another gargoyle. Other than that I love the very gothic and older looking style you've gone with, fits Batman perfectly. The inside is even better than the outside, and that's certainly saying something. The NATH section is one of my favourite parts, the checkerboard floor is great and I wish I had that many note tiles as you! The steps down to the vault level is a great touch, as is the security door. The mixing of bley and traditional grey gives the safe an older, weathered look that I love. The addition of the boxes and cupboards make the whole thing a lot more detailed too. You're like me in that actually, a real detail monkey The upper levels are just as fantastic, if not more so. The little conference area (glad to be of influence ) is grea,t an I love the inclusion of the Mayan/Aztex/Whatever stickers, they really suit somehow and I never would've thought of that. The way you've done the barrel with plants in them is something I've not seen before and quite clever. The manager convincing the depositing is great too. The bearded statues are quite neat, mind if I borrow the use of those beards on statues? I want to use that one for Gotham Park because it looks so good and much better than the plain grey fig I've got at the moment. The cat is a great touch too, and in terms of architecture the inverted slopes below the highest level look really neat. The only complaints I can really think of for the inside is the lack of the dark green roofing on one side, though I understand that may be a parts issue, and the fact that the inside of the roof has no detail, I was hoping for a chandelier or something for Bats to hang off. I'm really stretching with these though. You're updated security van is very neat too, in particular the opening back part is well done. I like Two-Face's updated vehicle too, I think the black/white looks much better than grey/white. And I laughed at the Professor's wig gag, I thought you'd forgotten but indeed the flame retardant, cold resistant and chemical proof wig is there in all its glory! I suggest that if you ever plan on retiring the character that you give him a happy ending, he's had quite an unlucky run Very, very much looking forward ot whatever comes next Righteous Squid (which I still deem is the best username I've ever seen) and I'll be there to match it with something of my own! Batbrick Away!

Yeah, Tim Burton is a fun film maker but he's also a king of "not-getting it". I have to admit I laughed at this video satirising him: Tim Burton's secret film formula! Batbrick Away!

Yikes! I don't really work out as much as I should, I used to keep committing to a small training regime but it kept fizzling out within a week. Then I came up with the brilliant idea of simply writing it down on my daily to-do list, a list I've updated for the last several years every night detailing what I must od the next day. And it's worked out great for me so far. Sure, its only about 15 minutes a day of weight lifting and sit ups, as well as going for walks while at college, but I'm keeping to it and slowly becoming less of a weakling Batbrick Away!

Yay! He returns! More fourth wall breakage I see, you're becoming addicted to meta I agree too, originals beat out the prequels by a mile, though I don't recall the Rancor looking much like that Also, and Admiral Ackbar reference without a subsequent "ITS A TRAP!"? For shame sir! For shame! Batbrick Away!

Great stuff Tac! I love the single colour hallway, and your Alien design is fantastic, very menacing. The laptop is a neat touch, and I love the way the guns are done, but why is the marine not even facing the alien? Gotta say though, this way my least favourite part about Aliens despite loving that film, the Aliens seemed much less intelligent than the one on the first film since so many were killed by the guns. The Penguin's Batman Minifigures. )
Batbrick replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Great stuff as always friend! I especially love Mr Freeze's new armour and Veronica Vreeland, who looks perfect! That said, why doesn't Mr Freeze have his helmet? And I love the new umbrella! Batbrick Away! -
Thanks Oky, great looking stuff here. Love the dark green on the truck and that Alien toy fig is wonderful! I could easily paint the yellow part of that torso red and use it to make the martian Manhunter from DC! That's right, no matter the set, I'll find a way to comics convert it Still, not a whole lot intriguing about the rest of it for me, so it seems I'll be passing this up unless it is at a bargain price, which is doubtful.
