  1. Great review. I like the dinosaurs themselves, but the vehicles have a lot of stickers. Not a huge concern for me, but printed pieces are always better. I do like the new prints on the minifigures. The truck looks like a fun ride as well. Keep up the good reviews.
  2. I agree with most people. The triceratops is "tops," but a bit too expensive for my taste. The truck looks pretty durable which is good for play value, but not enough pieces for the price. The printed figures are really cool. Good review. It definitely helps me decide on wanting to get this, but probably won't because of the price tag.
  3. Thank you for the review. I already was interested in getting this set, but that was before I knew of all these great pieces! I am really excited for the new white ninja with armor and headgear. I didn't know it was a printed slope piece for the snake head (that will come in handy). And the new brick bricks are neat. I like the texture look of headlight bricks with tiles in front, but I am sure these new pieces be most welcomed. Keep up the good reviews.
  4. I've been torn with the dino sets. One moment I want them, the next I put them on the backburner for other themes. Good review overall. It gives us a good indication what to expect. As far as price, I am a fan of cheaper sets and still getting some good pieces. The dinosaur does look good and might make the set worthwhile for me. Keep up the good reviews.
  5. I like to see everything to some degree, so "top down." But I would normally do a little bit of both to get the right feel for everything. Top down to see the big picture, then bottom up to get the right proportion and setting.
  6. The oldest set I have with stickers is probably 6396 International Jetport from 1990. It had a few stickers that are still tightly adhered to the underlying brick. I think they must have used something stronger back in the day. I do not want to remove them, nor do I ever plan on it. But I would expect some kind of residue. I have yet to remove any new stickers, but I have heard they are more easily removed and replaced to better line things up or re-use the brick without the sticker. As far as the original question. I typically will place the sticker on the brick since I am not much of a MOCist, but I haven't been putting them on lately for some reason.
  7. My daughter is going to freak out when she sees these Duplo Princesses. She loves Duplo in general and my wife loves pink/purple blocks, so we will definitely be getting those for her and will pick up the Friends theme for when she is older. Exciting stuff.
  8. I agree completely! I loved the old series. I haven't paid any attention to the new series, but since there is a new series, it would be more plausible of it happening. Granted, the older version is much, much better. I have always wanted to customize figures for that purpose, but I am not good at customizing so there you have that.
  9. Like many others before me, I read through the book as I build. I'm sure I could look at the picture and build the set and have few mistakes, but I don't feel like challenging myself for my hobby when I am challenged enough at work all day. So I go by the book and if I am not satisfied with the end result, I will rebuild it how I want to. But I normally build it the right way once at least.
  10. Not to start an argument, just an observance. I would like to believe that all you have to do is not have your bricks in the sun, but my entire childhood I avoided sunlight with any of my Lego bricks and then they were put into storage for 15 years in a dark tote covered in the back of a garage with no sunlight and the pieces have still yellowed/discolored. So I don't think it is as simple as that. I think it is just age in general that can cause some of the problems. These bricks are pushing 20-25 years old, so eventually plastic will discolor. Which means, if cleaning does not work, then you have to purchase more new bricks.
  11. DrWeevil I own both of those sets mentioned, but I have only built the Black Pearl. It is a fun build, but I agree with some other posters that it can't be used for much other than a ship. I'm not one for MOCing really, but I would prefer to modify the Pearl a little bit. But it is/can be a beautiful ship for sure. The castle looks very powerful when completely built (on the box art), so I would only imagine it will be even more overwhelming when built in person. With the exception of ships, I have favored the Kingdoms line over Pirate-themed sets. I would choose the castle personally, unless you absolutely want the unique figures with the Pearl. I would imagine the Pearl will be available a little longer since it just came out as opposed to the castle being out since 2010 and is now discontinued everywhere basically. Good luck with your purchase!
  12. I know nothing about Skyrim, but a great MOC nonetheless. I like the wall tiling and the tree the most. The color scheme works well also. Keep up the great work.
  13. The more I look at the prelims I am more excited. But I rather hope the sets aren't as good as people want them to be, otherwise I would be forced to purchase more than one copy of each set... and I doubt the Mrs will allow that. hehe
  14. I love the vintage feel of this. Great amount of car detailing for sure! But then add on the street life and all of the building detail and you have a great set-up! Very impressive. If I had the time/space, I would consider doing something of this scale (although it would not match up detail wise with you). Keep up the great work!
  15. Looks cozy. Let's hope the pizza tastes as good as the building looks. Keep up the good work.

    Modular Tower

How's the view from the top? Great build. Keep up the good work.
  17. Very clever build. I really like how it fits into the Winter village scene. The pigeons are clever indeed. But I really like the idea of the chocolate dipped apples with the set up showing before and after treats. I am confused as to what the light blue-gray thing is on the front roof? Keep up the great builds.
  18. Thanks to 50% clearance at Wal-Mart, I purchased 2x Escape from Dragon Prison and 1x King's Carriage Ambush (even though I received both of those at Christmas). Plus other sets non-castle related on clearance. Hard to pass up great deals.
  19. I would buy up as many Kingdoms sets as possible if you are interested in them. They are completely sold out in every store near me as of today. Last night, one of the Wal-Marts I went to last night had a few sets on 50% clearance (that I purchased). As far as I can tell, the second wave was really short-lived. The stores need to make room for lots of new Lego inventory this next January, so everything was bare at every store I went to last night. They had less than a handful of sets of any theme that wasn't clearanced.
  20. We did a little after Christmas shopping and found some good deals on clearance. Two days ago from lego S@H ordered a few discounted Duplo sets for the little one and the Winter Post Office (marked off 15$). They will arrive today according to FedEx. Then last night at Target and Wal-Mart, found some goodies on sale. The 2260 Ice Dragon Attack, 7188 King's Carriage Ambush, 2x 7187 Escape from the Dragon's Prison, 8061 Gateway of the Squid, and 7956 Ewok Attack. All at 50% off!! It was a good day of shopping. Although, I am now sufficiently overwhelmed with Lego so I probably won't be buying any for quite a while. Or at least until the wife agrees to some more haha.
  21. Christmas this year brought many POTC sets: The Mill, Whitecap Bay, QAR, BP, Cannibal Escape, London Escape, Captain's Cabin. I already had Captain's Cabin, so I returned that for a giftcard. It was a mighty good haul.
  22. And my mom just said she ordered something for next year. I guess you have to get started early on sales.. I wouldn't expect next year to be as extravagant. But I also didn't expect this year to be the way it was either. The picture really doesn't do it justice. When all of the boxes are lined up, it becomes really overwhelming..
  23. I love everything about this scene. Great fireplace, couch, tree, floor, window covering, and Santa. Poor little Timmy
  24. Nice little village there. Looks very festive for sure. I like the use of the different themes within one to get that feeling. And smart use of the raised baseplates.
