  1. Very neat rendition. I can easily see Chief out of that. Now that you have him out of the way, you can make the Arbiter. He's the coolest. Keep up the great work. Impressive stuff.
  2. That does look like a little set, except it is missing some flick-fire missiles! Neat little MOC. I think it definitely adds a little "human" appeal to the Monster Fighter theme without being too monster-esque. I think a neat play feature would be to have the skeleton catapult out of the coffin. Then I would say it could be sitting alongside other sets on the shelf. Keep up the great work!
  3. Thanks for the review. I have no interest in this set, but I can see the appeal. I'm glad Octan is still a flourishing business in Lego-world. That van is adorable. I definitely would like to build that and have it in my city. This build is more extensive than I expected after seeing all of the different installments. Keep up the good work!
  4. Clever little build. I remember those computers so well. We were one of the first people to get a desktop computer in my area and that was mid-90s. I think it had a 28.8 modem... The blinds are very cleverly built. The computer is spot-on. Keep up the great work!
  5. Thanks for the review. I remember seeing this set on clearance on S@H last winter, but I never picked it up because I wasn't into Star Wars yet. I'm still not into Clone Wars, so I doubt I would pick this up regardless, but Cad Bane does look interesting. I may have to bricklink him sometime.
  6. Thanks for the interview. It is interesting to see other people's viewpoints on the matter. I will agree, most other parents do not understand the appeal. I get many odd looks in the Lego aisle when I'm looking at stuff or searching through the CMFs. Very clever angles hiding ACPin's face. I remember looking at those builds a while ago, but it is still impressive to see them again.
  7. I agree 100%. Timing is everything. If one was released later, people would be mad at the other designer. As the designer said, if it were a different color, no one would be saying anything. I still don't see any similarities in the two builds other than the obvious similarities for that particular style of house. I don't believe he copied anything. I still don't understand what the fuss is about.
  8. I agree! I was already planning on waiting for the Haunted House just because of the pricetag, but then I completely forgot about a new Winter Village set. I already don't know if I am able to budget for it anyway, even if it is bigger or the same price. TLG has too many sets out that I want.
  9. I picked Shelob Attacks because that spider is beautiful! I am really impressed with the construction and size. I ordered the three big sets from B&N because of their huge sale and just received them yesterday. The boxes were all damaged, but hopefully the pieces are all right. I am holding those back until Christmas.
  10. That archway is brilliantly designed. I saw the front and could kind of figure out how some of it was created, but then thankfully you showed us the back to see how exactly it was done. I may have to borrow that idea. Your castle will be awesomely constructed. I wouldn't mind doing something similar, but who has the time? I will just live vicariously through yours Keep up the great work!
  11. Very clever Super Cuts idea. Finally a use for that hairpiece outside of an Egyptian theme. I've never visited there. I used to go to Great Clips, but then my wife started cutting it (it's free and looks better!)
  12. Finally found the Bunny guy from CMF series 7. I can find multiples of the Space Marine, but no bunny guy. Very odd. I wanted him for my daughter, so I would tell her I'm looking for the bunny guy and she kept pointing to the package "there he is!" Oh, 2 year olds..
  13. While I've never purchased a set without the figures, it is an interesting concept. If the price were right, it might be worthwhile if they pieces were rarer/useful for me. I would recommend bricklinking the figures straight up instead of the hassle of selling pieces that you aren't familiar with. Sometimes larger orders, or repeat business will garner some discounts from certain sellers. Something to look into. I am in a similar situation. There are figures I want without wanting the whole set, so I currently don't own either. I also don't want to pay a high amount per figure on bricklink, but it might be worthwhile if there are few figures you want and the set itself is a high dollar amount. From what I've seen, buying the whole set is usually about the same as just buying all of the figures in a set. This means the bricks are essentially "free" since you'd be paying for all those figures. That's why I normally will buy sets just for the figures. I have yet to sell any Lego on-line, but it seems to be a good business for some people. Good luck!
  14. Two people can come to the same endpoint by different means. Looking back at the windows, sure they are similar, but it doesn't mean it is a direct copy. Right above the windows are two 1x1 round plate on either side of a 1x2 roof slope piece. I am currently building a MOC for the Modular Madness contest and my windows are designed exactly like that, weeks before I ever saw this Haunted House MOC. I may end up changing it anyway because I'm not sure I like how it looks, but it doesn't mean that I copied this other designer either. In the designer's reply, you could easily tell the tone about how upset he was of such an accusation. Things can be similar to borderline identical even though two people never saw the other work. Essentially, as was stated, to avoid any future ramifications, one would be prudent to never look at anyone else's MOC ever again. Actually, one should quit building altogether to avoid ever copying an idea. Or at least, quit posting their creations. With that said, I built a human-size scale Wrigley Field, but I can't show it due to legal issues. Do you see the irrationality? Hopefully this can get resolved and be put in the past to allow everyone great joy with this new release. It is beautiful.
  15. Can I have the Empire emblem please? Thank you. Can't wait for the next CB!
  16. Not to sound like a complete noob, but are there reference images to what tags are available? Thank you.
  17. Thank you for the response. It is nice to hear the creator's thoughts/viewpoint on the issue. I didn't see any resemblance originally and I will continue to not think about it. The House itself is beautiful. I can't wait to own it. Hopefully a good sale will come along.
  18. sologuy369 Meaning they weren't really cracked. There happens to be a seam along the head where the mold was placed or how it cooled with the paint or something else in production, but not an actual crack.
  19. I voted "I like them both together" which is only partially true. I do like both versions, but for different reasons. I do not mix "fleshie" with yellow. I think both options bring about something special, but I would prefer if everything was the same to bring about a bigger world that is more cohesive. The classic pirates had some great sets (but as a child, maybe they were just great because of my young perception?) and POTC had some nice new ideas/colors now that I'm an adult. I do agree most of POTC, like any licensed theme, is going to showcase scenes from shows instead of using your own imagination. But some of the scenes were pretty neat. I got the entire line for Christmas last year and they have been nice parts packs.
  20. That is a neat option. I have no idea what those tubes are or where to find them, but it is a neat way to display figures. I would probably do a square/rectangle display with the dates/themes listed instead to stack them easier.
  21. Looking at every list, there are definitely a few front runners. To add a side-note, I remember seeing a dolphin in the Paradisa theme in the mid-90s. Also, Friends has a lot of little critters with chances of many more. Lego might have started releasing Friends for that very purpose instead of giving the Lego counterpart the small critters. Naturally, the Friends versions are TOO cartoony, but TLG probably doesn't care since only girls want animals, not boys Anywho, my list: 1. Deer/elk (just like almost everyone else) 2. Other bears (recoloring the current mold is fine) 3. Lion 4. Fox 5. some bird (eagle perhaps) in flight. Most of my animals could be used for Medieval themes, but a proper Zoo subtheme would be most welcome. Unfortunately, with all these other great themes being released, it would be very difficult for me to purchase the zoo theme as well!
  22. I ordered Helm's Deep, Mines of Moria, and Weathertop from Barnes & Noble with their huge discount. Now all three will be set back for Christmas, but I'm okay with that saving about half of what it normally would cost. That gives me more money to buy more Uruk-Hais!
  23. Thanks for the great review! Seeing 4 new exclusive figures at that price point, I was excited already. Seeing the build/review makes me want it even more. Those figures look beautiful.
  24. It is amazing how some people will see many similarities and others hardly see them at all. I notice similarities, but simply because it is a run-down Victorian styled house and those are very similar. You say Victorian house and you will think of something very similar to this. Yes, the color scheme is generally the same, but Victorian era houses always had bright colors and they probably wanted to use a rarer color (I think sand green was discontinued?, or will be soon) to keep the desire higher. If they went with a light stone gray color, the building would still look neat, but it wouldn't be as highly sought after. I hardly have any sand green bricks, so this would be a great parts pack, if it weren't for the price. The figures look great and the interior details are really fun. I just don't like the price. I guess we will find out how much "plagiarism" there is if a lawsuit/settlement comes about somewhere down the line. There is inspiration all around us. I don't see the similarities in that design like some others, but to each their own. I would guarantee you ask the designer the direct questions and he would have a response to what his/their inspiration was and more than likely has not even seen that previous model. Two people can come to the same result by different means. I have considered many different techniques with my MOCs without ever seeing some other designs that had similar methods. I only know this because I ended up seeing their design after the fact. Just because someone posts something first doesn't 100% mean they came up with the idea solely on their own. I do understand someone being upset about their design being copied and if it is indeed copied, then hopefully TLG will credit them due respect/monetary contributions or something to make up for it.
  25. I've been trying to come up with a good brick built version of a dragon and this is spectacular. I will definitely have to look at the elements used and see how I can recreate it with my own style. The whole set-up is brilliant with the flames! Keep up the good work.
