I've heard a few people mention how they thought it would look good behind the house. Maybe the designers had a few ideas to "connect" things. It would certainly add to the playability/collectibility of the line.

Neat little build. I really like the rock-work and the snow caps. It looks exactly like a winter/cold landscape. The tree is neat too. And I really want to pick up some tauntauns now!!

Great back story. Great build. It kept me interested. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to read more.

Thanks for the review. It is a fun little set. I only have 2 copies so far, but I plan on getting more. The siege weapon is impressive and the wall is cleverly built. I would modify it to go next to Helm's Deep for sure, but it is fun how it is. The figure printing is great on all of these figures. I am very impressed with TLG this time around. Let's hope they keep it up. Enjoy your set! I know I will.

Thanks for the review. I like the torso printing on the figure. I will wait to get that game on clearance, like all of the other Lego games, so I won't be getting this figure free (if at all). I don't particularly care for Superman mythos, so Lex doesn't do a lot for me. But this little polybag is neat. Hope you enjoy your game.

I know if I lived in Australia I wouldn't even be able to be an AFOL due to the prices. I am skeptical at getting it with the US price $180. If it was any higher than that, I couldn't possibly consider it. Right now it is still in budget limbo because I really don't want to spend that much on it nor do I actually have that much to spend on it. The house is beautiful. The figures are great. I just can't justify that high price tag. Even if I cut out the Castle, I still would need another $80 to cover it. I hadn't considered VIP points to help defray the cost, but I don't have enough to make it too worthwhile. Decisions, decisions..

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Finally a list! I am excited to get quite a few of these actually. I guess everyone else that doesn't like them will leave plenty for me. Huzzah! I may actually buy multiples of a few of these, depending on how they end up looking. I can't wait for pictures now! -
Very impressive build! I would want to build one for myself, but I wouldn't have any watch pieces. Thanks for showing us.

The CMF have done a really nice job of collecting different cultures/backgrounds while still maintaining the classic yellow minifigure. I like both licensed skin tone and classic yellow. I, like a lot of others, would quit buying things if they discontinued yellow, just as some will quit buying if they discontinue licensed skin tone. I like both. I don't understand why race is such an issue with everyone. Yes, people have different skin tones, but that shouldn't be what defines them as people. As the late Mitch Hedburg said, "I don't care what skin color you are, but we have to draw the line somewhere. To hell with purple people!" That is just a humorous bit and no offense to purple people. Actually, that is what I like about some of the Star Wars characters are the odd colors their skin tone is. I think it blends right in, but for some reason yellow is just such an extreme compared to the "fleshie" it is hard to incorporate into other settings. So every figure being yellow would make it easier to accomplish that, if you suspend the belief that everyone in the real world isn't the same. As far as skin tones go for Lego minifigures, I do like the variety in the licensed themes. A great example is the POTC theme with the zombies.

What do you do with your sets/MOC once you've built them?
TheLegoDr replied to hellopike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Typically the sets I actually want to build become display models and other sets become parts packs. My own creations become display pieces for a short while until I get the idea for something else. Since I am just now getting into MOCing after collecting for a little while, I haven't done that too often. I do keep the Modulars together and a few select castles and ships. I keep all the instructions together, so I could probably piece things together rather easily, especially with newer sets having the piece list in the back of the instructions. -
Ferrik I would say go with Shelob Attacks. The spider is the most beautiful creature ever built and you get 3 figures (2 of which are exclusive). You get some nice rings and a few extra stings. I would say get both also, but if you really only can get one, get Shelob.

BrickArms Musket and Flintlock Pistol Now Available
TheLegoDr replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Pirate MOCs
These turned out awesome. If I ever manage to have any money left over I will seriously consider buying some of these. -
So the common misconception that many AFOLs are engineers is actually true? haha, no problems there. My name tells part of the story. I am an eye doctor, so I incorporated my love of Lego with my profession. Everyone here calls me "doc," so I guess it was on my mind when I created the profile. It's interesting to see/read about other people that I've seen post on the site before. Very interesting topic.

The main thing that upsets me about all of the different licenses is TLG releasing too many beautiful sets that I have to somehow purchase. I loved the late 80s/early 90s sets before all of the licensing hoopla. I realize people are obviously wanting these licensed themes, so they keep making them. But it would be nice to have some more unlicensed sets/themes that people can rally behind. I was a huge fan of Kingdoms and I could have got behind some new lines with that, but I also welcome Lord of the Rings for new building pieces/ideas/figures.

When I first heard the rumor of a potential Haunted House set, I was excited. When I first saw the official set, I was impressed and amazed. Then I looked at the price. It is really high for my budget, even though it is reasonable compared to piece count and a few exclusive figures. I originally planned on getting the castle because of the neat structure, but also because of the figures (and, of course, the price). But now looking at the House I can see I'd much rather have this built and displayed than the Castle. Even if I don't build/display it, I would rather have a lot of sand green bricks for other MOCs. Time to save up some more money than I was originally anticipating.

With my last order I have the complete collection. The deal I made with my wife (so we would get such a huge discount from B&N) is I have to wait until Christmas to play with open them. Only 6 months..not so long.

That is impressive. Unfortunately, I only have 1 elf. But I would love to have more. The rock formation and bridge look great. The sheer size of that army is very impressive.

It is anyone's guess on if we will get TDKR sets or if they planned on releasing the first DC wave with Batman (including the Bane figure because of the movie). Hopefully we will see a TDKR set because I would definitely stretch my budget to pick it up. I have not bricklinked the new Bane in hopes for getting a Bane in a TDKR set, but they could just as easily create a different Bane for those sets, so I'd have to pick up the old one anyway.

Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
TheLegoDr replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
The funny thing about B&N is them using different shipping companies. I ordered the big 3 LOTR sets and the two by UPS were delivered within 2 days. The remaining one went with DHL and is still in Kentucky, last I checked. It is very odd. Hopefully other people will continue to get their sets. -
No Success Getting 9468 Vampyre Castle Online Instructions
TheLegoDr replied to DLuders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Please don't associate all Americans with this guy. We're not all like that. Unfortunately, the outspoken individuals are the people who seem to represent us as a whole. I'm thankful for what the military does for us, but just because you are in the military doesn't make you better than anyone else or make your wants/needs any higher priority. Good luck getting your instructions. -
That is a very nice looking MOC. I like how it has just enough other color to create some depth instead of only using tan. With the official modulars they sometimes throw in another color here and there to break it up, but the tan works really well. I have been trying to figure out how to handle my color problem. I like the overall design and some of the techniques used. I had a few of them as ideas in my own MOC, but we'll see how it ends up. Keep up the great work. Good luck in the contest.

No Success Getting 9468 Vampyre Castle Online Instructions
TheLegoDr replied to DLuders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well put everyone. TLG does this as a nice convenience for all of its customers. If it takes their web-admin a little longer to put up this free service, then so be it. I have a hard time understanding why someone is so upset about not getting this for free. Plus, doesn't every individual country website differ a little? Good luck in getting your instructions. I'm sure they will post them for everyone when they are able to. -
Now I really wish HP would have continued on so I could get my hands on that Luna figure/headpiece. Hopefully the CMF will create a Lion person and have a head similar to that. I have yet to finish years 1-4, so hopefully I can get around to doing that so I can pick this game up!

Suddenly losing all interest in a whole theme?
TheLegoDr replied to purpleparadox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hive When I first got into Lego it was strictly Castle and Pirates. Now that I got back into the hobby, it has covered many more themes. I wish I could stick to just one or two themes. It would actually save me a lot of money. But Castle and Pirates are still my top two. I think my problem isn't losing interest in a theme, but gaining too much interest in new themes! Just this year I started buying Star Wars for the first time. Never been into the movies or characters before, but all of a sudden I started picking them up. Very odd. I don't love "fleshie" figures, but it surprisingly does add something to the licensed sets. I will not mix the two, so I would much prefer for all figures to mesh better since I have huge Crusader/Black Knights/Kingdoms armies that won't go well with my LOTR army. Oh well. -
Well, if these are successful, then they will probably release other countries when they host the games. So eventually you would get competitors from multiple countries to make your own mini-Olympics?? Might be a good idea. Might be a horrible business idea. That's why I'm not working for TLG.
