LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Depends on what remakes we're talking about. I for one would much rather have an ARC-170/Z-95/TIE Bomber/Interceptor/etc. over random ship #1138 any day. Hell, where's my UT-AT or Crab Droid, Lego? You haven't made those before. -

And that's why children ruin everything. I kid, of course. When I was younger, I knew what I wanted pretty precisely. If it wasn't something I recognized (licensed set wise), I couldn't care less. But, that's just me I suppose. The I-TS looks nice, don't get me wrong, but Lego's almost avoiding big sellers. No one needs another Anakin's Interceptor, especially with only 2 figures, both of which we got together 2 years ago. Grievous' Starfighter would've printed money with Cody, but another Airborne gets the job, Final Duel could've made a nice $20 set as mentioned above, but no, $100 it is. It's just a strange business model. Lego used to be about innovation and taking risks, not playing it safe and dull. But, AAT and 501st Legion are sure sellers, even the AT-AT (despite the 6 years since the last one). -

@The_Chosen_1, Like I said, the fact that this got a set, invalidates the argument of other (no doubt more popular) vehicles being "too niche" or "not popular enough" to get a set. Not saying that the set itself shouldn't have been made, that's debatable, but certainly there were better sets to make? Besides, sets that haven't been made in over 10 years don't get a new version, but Final Duel gets a remake 5 years in, and we get a real curveball with the I-TS. It's questionable, is all. -

This. From now on whenever someone says "that's too niche to get a set" we will forever show them this set. I don't mind it per se, but come on, we can't get a Z-95 or an ARC-170? I'm torn about the Final Duel as I never got the 2015 version, but I could just buy that off eBay or Bricklink if I really wanted it. I'm sure all of us would much rather have had something new (and no the transport doesn't count) -

A new final duel? I forget who said it, but they said no matter what we guessed it'd still be wrong! I like the new Resistance tank, and probably will get one on the second-hand (provided it's not also on Lego.com). Who knew that Galaxy's Edge would be the place for original ST vehicles? Night Buzzard I never liked since I heard the rumor, only three figures sustains my point. AAT is a Day 1 buy, maybe I'll get a couple for the 332nd Troopers. It's an Airborne! Since I already have Grievous and recently bought the Mustafar Duel, and I have Airbornes from 2014, I'm content with skipping Grievous' Starfighter. Despite hoping for literally anything else, I may get the Final Duel, as I still don't have a Palpatine. Also, only 2 figures in a set from 2014 that now cost $30? Boo. Even the Aethersprite was $20 like it's decade old predecessor, why not the Eta-2? $25 okay, but for $30, we needed an extra figure. -

Well, like you said, there's Padme, but just how the OT used to outshine the PT in Lego, I think both trilogies will outshine the sequels, given time. Besides, there's nothing iconic about them, maybe Exegol, maybe Starkiller Base, but that's it. If they want an X-Wing, a TIE Fighter, a walker of some kind, then the OT vehicles will triumph, every time. In the end, it's all a matter of perspective. Toy companies feel out the fanbase, Lego included. If they gather that their bread is buttered by the classic saga more (OG 6 films), then that's how they'll stay. It doesn't matter whether you like, dislike, or hate the sequels, that's just the way it is. Also, as to the yellow lightsaber question brought up a few pages back, maybe Rey'll have it in the Night Buzzard set? And are we certain there'll only be 3 figures in it? -

When was the last time we saw Jar Jar? Or Rose for that matter... Honestly, for now we'll get a few sets, but I'm afraid the sequels will get the AOTC treatment from Lego eventually. Adults have more draw than we give credit for, and I think kids are more likely to go in the aforementioned direction of "Clones, Luke Skywalker, Vader, Baby Yoda, etc." than Rey and Kylo Ren. So grab all your Reys, Finns, and Kylos now, they may become a rare commodity, lest there be a (good) tv show. -

But do they actually like them? I kid, I kid. Sadly, it wasn't exactly a bad show, just very kiddish compared to TCW or even Rebels. The "out of action" setting didn't help. -
Something a tad bit unrealistic, but I want it. An Order 66 wave, but not called that obviously Iron Battalion Troopers ($14.99): Jaro Tapal, 3x 13th Clone Troopers. Felucia Troopers ($14.99): Aayla Secura, Commander Bly, 2x 327th Troopers. Vader's Fist ($14.99): Anakin Skywalker (hood and cloak), Commander Appo (with the arrow mark as in TCW), 2x 501st Troopers. Speeder Bike Recon ($29.99): 3x BARCs (BP size or smaller), small mound + tree. Stass Allie, Commander Neyo, Barc Trooper (maybe given a visor like Bly, similar to the Hasbro pack) Assault on Mygeeto ($39.99): Ki-Adi-Mundi, Commander Bacara, 2x Galactic Marines, 2x Super Battle Droids, Octuptarra Tri-Droid. Battle of Utapau ($59.99): Molded Boga with Crab Droid build. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Commander Cody, 2x 212th Troopers, 2x Battle Droids, Super Battle Droid. Wookie Outpost ($79.99): Lookout Tower, Ornithopter, AT-RT. Yoda, Commander Gree, 2x Kashyyyk Troopers, AT-RT Driver, Luminara Unduli, 2x Wookie Warriors. Betrayal Over Cato Neimoidia ($99.99): ARC-170 + Blade of Dorin. Captain Jag, Clone Pilot, R4-P44, Plo Koon, R4-F5, 442nd Trooper. Republic Medical Shuttle ($119.99): Tiplar, Tiplee, Tup, ARC Trooper Fives, Commander Doom, 2x Doom Troopers. Jedi Temple Skirmish ($129.99): A system-scale Temple a la Vader's Castle. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, 2x 501st Troopers, 2x Clone Troopers (Jedi Disguise). Venator Cruiser ($159.99): Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, ARC Trooper Jesse, 2x 332nd Troopers, 2x 501st Troopers, P2 Clone Trooper.

I mean, I personally dislike the ST and don't understand much of it's appeal (though tbh, that's mostly due to TLJ and Reylo ), and while the ST does have it's fans, it is the least popular SW media by far, and that includes Rebels, TCW, Mandalorian, and all the movies. Even so, you can't exactly ignore it, no matter how much some (myself included) would like too. Besides, there are some cool things to come out of it (FO Stormtroopers, Resistance Troopers, FO Transport, X- & A-Wing Pilots), so it's not all bad, at least from a figure perspective. At least the figures can be used to create new storylines, movies be damned. But, this is an Advent Calendar, something I've never really bought it the past, though some figures are quite tempting (Merrick, various Rebels), but who doesn't want ugly sweater Vader? Life Day party anyone? So, as a Calendar, they would need to split the 8 figure selection between all 11 movies, 4 TV shows, picking the most relevant, of course. TROS just got released on streaming, so the iron's still hot. Besides, Rey's TROS outfit is probably her best one, so it's nice to get a repeat of the costume at least. I don't care about the yellow sabre, I have the Sinestro set. My only gripe is that they could've, should've included Grandpalpatine, in all his Eternal glory, but I digress. -
Slash the vaporator, obviously. Besides, unlike Mustafar, Starkiller has nothing to it but the split-feature. Which honestly would make up most duel set candidates at the $20 price.
-
I don't know, Ben was pretty late to the party. And still got delayed! Besides, does it even count as a "duel"? More like a curbstomp. Even so, I think Duel on Exegol is out of the $20-$25 range due to the fact that Palpatine didn't have a lightsaber in that battle. Mace vs Palpatine or Yoda vs Palpatine could work quite well in the $20 range though. I'd prefer a larger Senate Duel though, because of the extraneous figures (Coruscant Guard ftw ) This makes me think of that Saga Duels poster, stacking all the major lightsaber battles across the (at the time) 7 films plus Rogue One.
-
Technically, the Duel on Exegol only has two main combatants (Rey and Grandpalpatine), with Ben only arriving late-battle. It's very much Rey's showdown. So technically, if they didn't do a Final Duel esque set, and only did a $20 version, it could work. Senate Battle has been suggested many times before, to the point that it's odd Lego hasn't made one yet. Palps, Yoda, 2 Shock Troopers and Bail with his speeder and you've got a decent $70 set my friend. (Including the senate pods and chancellor podium)

I suspected he wasn't legit, but he was still giving me (and I'm certain a few of us) a headache. Now on this TIE Bomber talk: That's interesting, and I noted the fact you mentioned about it trying to be close to Lego techniques. I still say it's absurdly risky for Lego to make any fighter/bomber for more than $100. At this point, we're edging into sub-UCS territory. If not a Bomber, I could see an Interceptor (given it too hasn't been given an update), or hell even a Defender from 2010 (since its re-canonization), but a Bomber would satisfy a lot of folks. Fingers crossed for a TIE, any TIE really, but also a few Clone Wars candidates. May the best guess win! -
I totally forgot about their duel on Tatooine, so that does work really nice. Also agreed on that Invisible Hand duel. Even if we never get the ship itself, we need that scene in Lego. You hear us Lego? "Do it!"

Why are we discussing 2021 sets that aren't actual rumors? I understand excitement over potential 2020 set figures, or even guesses over the TBA exclusive, but come on guys, there's no way we'll get any kind of trustworthy 2021 rumor list until late August at least, if not later. Also, parroting common wishlist items doesn't constitute a "popular rumor", it's just tickling the ear so to speak. Telling people what they want to hear. Not dissing anyone who posts these rumors, but take them with a whole carton of salt. -
-Yes -Yes but no 3 figure duels -See above -Yes -Yes but that was before duel sets and had 3 figures -Yes but it's the only duel for that movie -No. For it to count as a duel set, it has to say "Duel on X" include no more than two figures, and cost no more than $20. That is, if Lego even considers it a subtheme. Maybe we'll get a $25 duel set a la Duel on Naboo, but again, that was before the first true Duel set, which started last year with Kylo vs Rey.
-
We don't know. Duel Sets I'd like to see ($20 limit, 2 figures only) TPM: Qui Gon vs Darth Maul AOTC: Yoda vs Count Dooku (likely) ROTS: Mace Windu vs Palpatine, Yoda vs Sidious, Obi-Wan vs Grievous ANH: Obi-Wan vs Vader ESB: Luke vs Vader (likely) ROTJ: Luke vs Vader (The Remix) (likely) TROS: Rey vs Palpatine TCW: Anakin vs Dooku, Ahsoka vs Maul (likely), Obi-Wan vs Pre Vizsla, Anakin vs Barriss, Obi-Wan vs Ventress

I agree, if only on the secondary market (I.E. Bricklink/eBay). I'd happily pay $20 for Cody on Bricklink, but Lego can not seriously justify a $20 hike just off one clone. -

Does it need to be huge, though? Maybe $90? I'd say $90 is the most realistic base price, but any fighter/bomber/etc should not cross the $100 line. Our first $100 X-Wing and I'm out. Not really -

I understand why some argue that Cody has to be included, but let's face it: A-Wing vs TIE Advanced was overpriced and no one really cared about Rebels Vader/Tarkin. Tarkin himself might've been nice, maybe the pilot, but Vader is Vader and Sabine's in other sets (albeit different outfit). Grievous Speeder had Grievous and Windu, both figures that are desirable/hard to find. No one bought the FO AT-ST because of how trash it was (no head, are you kidding me?). Undercover Finn and Rose be damned. Which sucks because imo the AT-ST had nice figures. Long story short: Lego's done idiotic things that make little sense to us. They've done it before, and they'll do it again. Cody will not make or break the set. The set is overpriced. Period. No reason why, it just is. It's surprising that so many of us still try to justify Lego's extortion tactics (I kid, but still). Again, if we do get a Cody, fine. I'll be first in line, but the odds are not good. At all. And the conclusion you made about the 212th clone has been assumed long before this post. It's really that simple, it's another blatantly overpriced set, with no good reason for it being so. We're getting another Obi-Wan, another Grievous, and another nameless Trooper. Also, just for discussion's sake, it can't be a Magna Guard since the middle figure is clearly white. Magna Guard's would have at least a little further contrast with the dark grey. I really can't wait for images to drop so we can get 100% definitive answers... Ideally a TIE Bomber would be in the $70-$80 range, given the last normal TIE was about $70 (Solo). EDIT: Also, who's paying an extra $20 just for one figure? I understand if it's Bricklink, but not a regular store-bought set. At that rate, there should be a crab droid or something. Add that to the list of sets we need. -

Sorry if I came off harsh, there's just been a lot of debate and speculation recently, that's all. So to answer your question, it is definitively known that it's not Cody but it is a clone (marked specifically). Again, apologies for sounding off. -

Why are we even discussing this? No one has said anything about it not being a clone, but that it's not Cody. Despite me also wanting a Magna Guard, let's not get ahead of ourselves by disputing known and trusted information. This will devolve into that "what counts as confirmed" discussion several pages ago. Stonewars obviously saw enough to identify a clone, and they later added (alongside Hoth Rebel) that due a translation error, they simply meant a "colored clone" or essentially a non-plain white clone, and not a "Named clone" as in Cody. Only clones that would make sense are 212th members (standard or Airborne). Questioning the info we currently have gets us nowhere. I know it's hard waiting for the sets to be revealed, but ultimately, we just have to wait and see. And since when does "only one" stop Lego? For years we haven't gotten more than one trooper in a set barring battle droids and battle packs. One clone is perfectly on par for Lego sadly. -

I'll admit, I bought the Endor Action Battle set for the Scout Trooper and Wicket. And for the Solo sets you referenced, at least the TIE Fighter was worth it. I personally buy larger sets for figures only if it's (1) a decent selection, (2) an original theme (City, Ninjago), or (3) the build is at least considerable if not preferable. Now, some will probably want Grievous' fighter for the set + figures, to which I say Cody is only a cherry not the sundae . You're correct. I didn't follow the DC leaks too closely, but even still, that's at least Nightwing. At we knew Nightwing was coming. Clone Troopers are a different animal. It could be Cody, but I'd hazard a guess that someone saw the unblurred image and it's not him. If Lego decides to move in and whip one up last minute (fingers crossed), then we can all go out for champagne. It's certainly not impossible, but at this stage highly unlikely, and I've been predicting Cody for years. @Guyon2002 basically covered this but to reiterate: it's downright absurd to assume Lego has to make an AT-OT plus a DROPSHIP to make an AT-TE. They aren't going to put 2 CW-era walkers in the same wave. They don't even do it for the AT-AT/AT-ST combo. A TIE Bomber is the most likely OT candidate, and part of me hopes for it. The other part of me hopes for something Mandalore related, but I digress. The Havoc Marauder would be nice, but we already have a set with a similar purpose in the Night Buzzard. No two shuttles in the same wave. It's most likely a fighter of some kind. I could be wrong, but my guess would be Lego doesn't really respect anniversaries anymore (MCU's 10th, TPM's 20th), they barely did Batman's 75th and 80th Anniversaries, and they did commemorate ESB's 30th Anniversary. But, it's not impossible, we do have the helmets () for what those are worth. And of course the AT-AT. But, we'll see. Now, the point about the 501st Troopers: If I recall correctly, there was some doubt due to the fact that Ryan from MandRProductions broke the news first. He started the hashtag about the battle pack, so some people were suspicious of his source. Turns out the source was right. (Lego leakers are the 007s of the AFOL community. They infiltrate Lego's HQ in Denmark and steal their top secret plans. They're chased by sharks, robots, and robot-sharks. It's a dangerous job, with few rewards, but we the community appreciate their work.) In all seriousness, most leakers either work at Lego stores or know someone who does. -

Soulless One is $80 because it's $80. No other reason. Lego sat there and said "Grievous Starfighter will sell for $80 USD because we want it to." No, we are NOT getting CC-2224 AKA "CODY" in General Grievous Starfighter. We've been told this by several leakers, so unless someone changes their tune, or Lego decides to produce him at the last minute, consider him nixed from the playing field. I want Cody as much as the next guy, but for now, we know it's Obi-Wan, Grievous, and an orange clone trooper that is NOT Cody, likely a new 212th or Airborne Trooper. Maybe we'll get Cody next year, maybe Lego will read this forum and haul bricks to make one, but it's a long shot. Would Cody make the set more desirable? Yes, but barely. Let's face it, who here's buying an $80 set for one minifigure? (Two if you want Grievous). To that end, the set should've had a Magna Guard too, which is long overdue for an update. Unfortunately, neither is the case. As for the exclusive: No one knows anything about it besides price and piece count. It could be any starfighter, any walker, any location, and from any media. At this time, we just have to wait and see.
