That's fantastic! I'm sure if these sell marginally well, we'll get more (they seem similar to BrickHeadz in terms of being impulse buys that appeal to non-LEGO fans, something like this would work well on a desk), so hopefully the pricing is as such so that people actually buy them. -

The Joker actually looks surprisingly really good and that's a face, but I think it's an exception because he intentionally looks very cartoon-ish, that's just how the character looks (kinda looks like the Hamill-era animated Joker mixed with Jack Nicholson live action Joker, and if they'd gone for the Heath Ledger or something, it'd probably look horrible in this style). I agree, I think a realistic face wouldn't work too well. So someone like Maul or a human character would look strange, but any mask/helmet would work well. I personally can't wait for the inevitable R2/3PO pair, cause I think they'd look awesome. Also, I don't really see these as side characters either, that's like saying an OT Stormie is a sidekick. -

These specific designs aren't really for me, but I think that this has potential for some really cool stuff going forward (love the General Grievous idea, that could look amazing in this format). I'm really surprised they didn't lead off with like R2-D2 or a C-3PO face. $10 or $15 seems fair, but I agree that $20 is too much, I'd rather get a battle pack or something like a Jedi Starfighter for that money. -
This is actually a good workaround if LEGO is concerned with the apparent controversy that Jabba's Palace caused (again, I have no idea if they actually took it seriously and if it'll affect future sets). They could do a set sort of like a much larger version of the Jabba's Prize set from the early 2000s with Jabba's dais and accessories and the wall with Han Solo in carbonite on it. Have a sliding feature for the dais and an "unfreezing" mechanism for the carbonite. Include Jabba, Bib Fortuna, Boushh and Han and I think that'd be a really solid set. A full palace would be better, but if that can't be done, I think this has some potential as a smaller set.

I was just thinking about something the other day with Microfighters and that inspired me to make a list of the vehicles that have not yet received a Microfighter and could possibly: Ep I

I thought it was confirmed not to be a remake of the DS II model from like 2005 or whenever that one came out? I may be wrong on that and misinterpreting what was said. I mean, I'd love it if we got something that isn't a DS, since an OT playset-type set seems likely unless they remake another OT ship we haven't had for a while, but process of elimination seems to suggest some sort of Death Star. -
I checked my Fox figure, it also has that gray circle. My bet is that the Character Encyclopedia photograph is maybe either a prototype or a very early production example. Looking at the closeup image, it looks like there's still an outline where the gray would be filled in, but nothing there, which leads me to believe that it was probably a prototype sample. That said, if there was ever a variation, I would guess that it's pretty rare seeing as I've never heard this pointed out before and the only examples seem to be with the gray circle.

Some people did bring that up as a possibility for it, since it did appear in, if I'm not mistaken, one or two episodes of the TCW S7. At the moment, it's anyone's guess as to what the set could be. Most people are speculating either something based on Clone Wars or on TROS since those are most topical right now, but it really could be anything. The Target retail exclusive from 2018 was an Imperial Dropship which had basically zero relevance to anything at the time and was a random remake of a 2007 set, so it doesn't necessarily have to be something relevant right now. That said, an AT-TE would be a day one purchase for me and would pair very well with the AAT that we know we're getting. -

Well, they did manage to solve the Leia problem with the 2013 Jabba's Palace by giving us Boushh instead, but there were other issues that I didn't fully understand either. I think something with the design of Jabba or the Palace itself, which seem like gripes that should be had with Lucasfilm, not LEGO. The Leia thing, look, I can understand that. It's a pretty derogatory connotation going with the slave thing and that's probably not an ideology that toymakers want to be associated with, even if they're clearly not supporting it, but I don't see how Jabba's Palace resembling real-world buildings is offensive. Unfortunately, I agree that another palace set seems unlikely, which really stinks because the secondary market price for the original is pretty high. -

Unfortunately, I agree. I think prequels are probably off the table for a UCS/D2C model until after the gunship, if it sells well (a big if in my opinion, since I think people are expecting minifig scale and it probably won't be), so if it was a playset, it'd be probably be OT based. We saw what a Hoth UCS playset was, Cloud City just came out, and the only other major locations from the OT are the Death Star(s), Tatooine, Endor, and Yavin. It's only been seven years since the Ewok Village came out, so I don't see that getting a remake yet, and a set based more on the actual Battle of Endor would be too similar to the Hoth one, which, well, we saw what the response to that one was. Yavin would be cool but has the problem that you mentioned, and Tatooine would just be too large for a UCS unless somehow we got either the Cantina or Jabba's Palace/Sail Barge (and the Palace probably is never happening again sadly). My heart wants to say Jabba's Sail Barge or the Cantina, my gut tells me it'll be another DS. -
Oooh definitely true. Maybe change the figures out and do Han, Greedo, Garindan, and either Wuher or Luke. Wuher is kinda redundant since those are basically the same figures as the 2018 version except switching Garindan with a Sandtrooper, but I definitely feel like another Cantina patron is necessary. You can't do just one of Ponda Baba and Dr. Evazan, maybe a Bith musician is the best way to go?

I still trust Landino's info over theirs. No disrespect to stonewars, but he's been first on more leaks than them so far this year and his info so far has been entirely reliable. I think it's very easy to make a conjecture that it'll be a UCS set just based on history, but given that we have conflicting info right now about whether it's officially a UCS or just a DTC (which might be something more like the Tantive I guess?) I think we'll just have to wait and see. -
Oooh, good call on the Grievous/Boga microfighters, that would make a ton of sense, especially considering we've already had two creature Microfighters and they've actually worked really well. The unfortunate part might be that Boga is a bit larger than a Bantha, so it wouldn't work as an actual minifigure-scale build in the same way that the Bantha did, but it'd be a great pair. As far as some summer set ideas, I'd guess we get maybe 8 sets again: 1 based on The Mandalorian, 2 prequel/TCW based sets, 3 OT based sets, a sequel based set, and then the last one I'm not sure, could be any of those. Droid Escape. Includes escape pod. Minifigures are R2-D2, C-3PO, a Sandtrooper, and maybe a Jawa. $19.99 Naboo Flash Speeder (need to reach our yearly quota of $20-30 speeder, and this is the next best option after a snowspeeder/landspeeder ). Includes Naboo Security guard, Captain Panaka, and 2x Battle Droids. $29.99 Coruscant Droid Chase. Includes the small speeder-thingy and loadlifter droid. Minifigures are Ahsoka Tano (Coruscant underground), Trace and Rafa Martez. $29.99 Mid-level priced set based on Mando S2, something to occupy a $40-60 price point. Could also get two sets since LEGO seems to recognize the appeal of the show. I agree that Gideon's TIE seems likely, especially since Gideon clearly will show up again. I'd bet either the winter or summer wave has it. TIE Bomber - Includes 2x TIE pilot and Captain Needa. $69.99 Resistance B-Wing - Includes B-Wing pilot and pick any other 3 Resistance minifigures, with at least one main character in there. $79.99 Battle of Endor - A remake of the 2009 set. Includes a small AT-ST, a speeder bike, an Ewok rock catapult and the bunker with an exploding satellite dish feature. Minifigures are Han Solo (Endor), 2x Scout Troopers, Chewbacca, 2x Ewoks, Imperial Officer, and a Rebel Trooper (Endor). $119.99 If we only get one Mando set, my (also unrealistic) prediction for the 8th set in the line is: Jedha City Ambush - Includes Imperial Hovertank and a small exploding structure. Minfigures are hovertank driver, a Stormtrooper, Jyn Erso, a Jedha rebel, and Chirrut Imwe. $49.99 Do I see any of these being made? Ehh...the Endor and Droid Escape are most due for remakes in my opinion, but beyond that, I have no idea.
-
Alright, guess I'll give the predictions a go! BPs: Mandalore Battle Pack - 2x 332nd Clones, 2x blue Mandalorians (Former Death Watch? Not sure what the exact name for this faction is) and either a BARC or a cannon. $14.99 BP based on Mandalorian S2, either Remnants Troopers or something entirely new. $14.99 4+ Set: Going to echo the others and say something involving the Endor Speeder Chase since it's one of the major OT vehicles that hasn't been given a 4+ set yet. Microfighters: Cloud Car - We had a planets set of Bespin + Cloud Car and got a remake of this in minifigure scale with the UCS Cloud City, but no Microfighter yet and is a fairly recognizable vehicle. I'd say either Lobot or a Cloud Car Pilot for the figure. Lobot might be a bit more attractive from a collector's standpoint, but I know owners of the UCS set would probably pick it up for an extra pilot if they gave us one. $9.99 Jabba's Sail Barge vs Skiff - Ok, this one is probably wishful thinking, but this would be so cool. Minifigures could be either Bib Fortuna or a Gamorrean Guard and then either a ROTJ Han Solo or Luke Skywalker. I think the sail barge could be microfighter-ized pretty well, use angle plates for the sails and a stud shooter as the deck gun. I may try to MOC that up once I finish with my other main MOC projects, actually. They may have to include two skiffs or a small Sarlacc in order for it to work out piece-wise, but I think it'd be an awesome set. Other 3-4 sets: Duel on Exegol, $24.99. Not sure if we're still spoiler-ing TROS, so I'll just do it anyway. Mos Eisley Cantina, $39.99. Similar to the 2018 release, since they seem more willing to actually produce cantinas now and it's a guaranteed seller. I'd probably make it around the size of that model but use the parts from the speeder to flesh out the bar a tiny bit more and make it larger. Minifigures are Ponda Baba, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Greedo, and Ben Kenobi. Escape from Kijimi, $59.99. Not sure if we'd get two location based sets so close in price, but who knows. And then the hopeful part of me wants to include a Republic Y-Wing as the last set priced around $69.99. Probably less realistic than some of the other ideas I see, but I figured at least a couple of these could eventually be sets, mostly the Cloud Car microfighter
-
The TIE is fantastic (well, all of them are, but that one really stood out to me!) Great work!
-
There's also a HUGE difference in size between an AT-TE and an AT-OT + dropship. That's like a $100 set vs a $250 set. As much as I'd like some of these to be made, there's no way Lego would do a Clone Wars-centric wave the year after the show ended.
-
Ugh, I'm not really a sequel hater (more of a "sequel meh-er") but the sets just don't appeal to me at all. If I want an X-Wing, I'll get Luke's, if I want a TIE, I'll get an Imperial TIE. I know that's just a guess on your part but I hadn't even really considered it being a sequel set beyond maybe a really large version of the Exegol duel, but fingers crossed it's a TCW set. I have a feeling I've hyped it up to myself to a point where anything other than a TCW set is going to be a disappointment, but it's fun to speculate. I just finished S2 Ep 9, so a little under halfway through.

Appreciate the heads up @autolycus! On the topic of Rebels stuff, I'm actually a little bit surprised that we never got a B-Wing based on the red prototype model from S2 that Hera flies to run the blockade. Seems like it'd be a good way to get another B-Wing without it being redundant, sort of like the time we got a Republic Y-Wing that took the place of where we'd normally have a Rebel-era one for year or two. Project Shantipole (aka B-Wing prototype): Foldable wings and gyro-cockpick mechanism (basically the same thing that the Slave I models have), rotating weapons, and an attachment point for the Phantom on top. Either priced at $80 or $110, depending on whether or not they include the Phantom. Minifigs are Hera, Quarrie, Commander Sato, and Zeb.

Well, I was really hoping that the next Disneyland set would be the Haunted Mansion (seemed to be the next logical progression after the Castle and train, HM or the Monorail is probably the most iconic Disney ride), but I would guess they wouldn't release something like this if they also had plans for a Disney version too. Oh well. I'll reserve judgement until better pictures come out.

Meh. Easy pass for me, then. I'm guessing it'll get some casual collectors buying it for display just because it's got a wider appeal than something like D-O or even the other Yoda statue at this point (is it crazy to think that Baby Yoda might have become more of an icon than Yoda at this point?), but not really my cup of tea. Hopefully we can get some more details on the exclusive soon. Seems strange that we went from "This set number was a cancelled release" to "It may or may not be coming" to "We now have concrete details" within a week, whereas the exclusive had been rumored for a while, then became confirmed in late March/early April and still nothing. -
Yeah, I agree. At this point, I don't even know if we'd get more Rebels stuff, let alone a large set, considering we've only gotten like one TCW set per year for the past 5ish years, all smaller stuff, and TCW seems to have a much larger fanbase/following, at least from what I see online. But, I guess one big difference between a model like The Ghost and a larger TCW set is that TCW didn't really have a flagship vehicle that was consistent throughout the series. Obviously stuff like a Venator or Gunship, but those weren't really specific, they were just generic Republic vehicles that we saw a lot. We had the Twilight early on but it seemed like after the first season, maybe a bit into the second (don't recall exactly) that it wasn't really around anymore, whereas The Ghost evidently is present and a very important vehicle throughout all four seasons. So, even though we aren't getting large Clone Wars sets, a large Rebels set could still be possible since it's got more of a consistent presence than a Venator. (Though I'd still welcome a remade Venator with open arms) I have seen the sets, yeah, but I wasn't sure about the difference between the Phantoms yet, so good to know. I'd guess if we got a set it'd be based on later material anyway. And yeah, I've actually quite enjoyed it so far even though I'm only just now getting to S2. I'd heard that the early seasons were much weaker, but so far I've still really enjoyed it.
-
I'd like to see a re-released Ghost at the $150 or even $170 price point. The old one looked good from the exterior, but in order to really capture the ship, in my opinion, it needs to be closer to the system-scale versions of the Millenium Falcon. A $150-170 set would be able to include a cockpit maybe with space for two figures, the 3 gunner stations around the ship, a retractable cargo/boarding ramp, and then probably two sections in the middle with the removable roof panels, like the Falcons tend to have. One could be the holochess/lounge area, the other could be Zeb and Ezra's bunk. I'd also go as far as saying that a $150 version of the ship could maybe include the Phantom as well. As far as minifigures (please no spoilers for past S1 of Rebels, I haven't watched that far yet, so if you're going to make any alternative suggestions, please spoiler tag them ), Hera, Kanan, Ezra, Zeb, Sabine and Chopper, not sure if anyone else really fits into that, plus it seems like six/seven figures is about the max that we get with non-UCS stuff anyway these days. Maybe a stormtrooper in there, if they're feeling generous.

Well, if the rumor is true, I'm torn. On one hand, I can't be disappointed since this set wasn't even on a lot of our radars until very recently, so it's not like we're "losing" out on a possible minifigure-scale set by this being a statue. On the other hand, I will definitely admit that I was hoping for something else from the Clone Wars (I only picked the show up after D+ came out, so I wasn't all that interested in the original sets and only own maybe two TCW specific sets, so any more would be welcome for me), so I might have a little bit of disappointment that it's another statue. It does seem strange that they'd do another statue when they just released both the D-O bust (which is about the size I imagine The Child would be), plus three other $70 busts geared towards adults. It'd really suck if the retail exclusive was also some sort of bust/figurine rather than a vehicle/location/scene. By the way, there was the rumored mosaic a while back (some people were reporting it was either Vader or Maul), does anyone know what ever happened to that? Wasn't that supposed to be an end of summer release too, or did it get cancelled? Or could 75318 be the mosaic? -
The best solution I've heard for this is using stickers on existing light gray parts, sort of like the mirror stickers used in the Creator lighthouse from ~8 years ago. Would people complain about this? Probably, but it'd keep costs down and probably look half decent still. Also, yeah, I really hope people don't start "campaigning" again because that was super obnoxious. Even though I'll probably end up buying the 501st set, I was sort of against it just because of the principle of the matter. Next time people want another set, I feel like we'll see something similar because the logic is that Lego gave in once, so they'll do it again.

Kit Figsto replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just to add, we've also had two credible rumors for additional sets, of which we have very little information. One is supposed to be a retailer exclusive with approximately 700 pieces, supposedly priced between $90-100. Beyond that we've had no info. A reliable leaker also just the other day came out and said he believes there could be one additional set coming, but he's unsure on details beyond that. He did mention that he would guess it could be priced between $50-90 if it were to be released, but gave no other information and emphasized that's a guess, not fact. So essentially, we've got a mostly confirmed wave of six sets this August (two of which have been fully revealed, the others being Grievous' fighter, Night Buzzard, Anakin's Starfighter, and the AAT), plus the Mandalorian + Child brickhead, and then the Razor Crest which has been confirmed for September 1st. We may or may not see an additional two sets, from what I understand, though it seems like one of these is much more "confirmed" than the other.
