  1. Thanks for these reviews! I'd been wondering quite a bit about the exact scale and building techniques for these helmets, so this has been great. This one definitely looks the best to me, I think because it's less round than a Stormtrooper/TIE pilot helmet. Luckily, I don't think there's too many other overly round helmets (P2 clone and FO stormtroopers are really the main ones that I can think of), so in the future I would imagine any other similar sets might look a bit less blocky (plus, as we've seen, series of similar models like this tend to get better over time). It just seems like they were going to have a tough time getting the shape to work regardless for those sets, whereas this one, being more flat on the sides works a lot better visually. The working rangefinder is a plus! I know that the price/piece ratio is pretty solid, but size-wise I'm still not sure I'd shell out the money for one of these, at least not at full price.
  2. Looking at the second photo you took of the completed model, I really can't shake the idea that this was modeled after the original helmet piece that LEGO put out. It looks alright, the box art I think makes it look weird, but I definitely think that Boba Fett works the best in this scale.
  3. I think a smaller set with the Yavin base is more likely than an MBS set of it. The problem with Cloud City was that it didn't have the appeal to the casual collector that something like the Death Star or even the Ewok Village does, but was too expensive for kids. Even though the Hoth Medical Chamber set wasn't exactly action packed, it was only $30. People will buy it just because it's Hoth, or for the 2-1B figure, or whatever. People aren't going to impulse buy a $350 set that you can only get at LEGO stores or lego.com. I say that as someone who proudly displays Cloud City, having waited almost ten years for that to finally come back out as a set. I'd love a Yavin base, but I think the largest size we could get is something like the sketch model, which looked like a $150-ish set.
  4. Since 75318 just popped up as a possibility, do we know if that'd be a retail exclusive as well, or was it just one of the sets presumed to be cancelled and has since been brought back onto the table?
  5. Eh, I wouldn't really take anything from the game as a possibility of being made (I know people aren't really saying we're getting stuff from the game, but just in general). Pretty much all of the previous games have had minifigures, locations, or vehicles that we've never gotten as sets and still haven't. Just from The Complete Saga, we had the Naboo Royal Starship, Kaminoans, Ponda Baba, Garindan, Polis Massa, Rebel flagships, Yavin IV, etc, and none of those have been made even though that game came out like 15 years ago.
  6. Ah, of course, I forgot the UCS Gonk (In all honesty, I would probably consider buying that if it was in the size of the Porg or D-O). I never really considered an AT-TE but size-wise it would work, the only question is that they typically don't seem to put "flagship"-like vehicles as an exclusives? Not sure if that makes sense, and as I've said multiple times, exclusives truly are a crapshoot, but I guess we don't usually see some of the major vehicles of the Separatist/Republic/Rebel/Empire fleet put out in a limited capacity with the exception of UCS models. Now, it is late and brickset doesn't seem to classify sets as retail exclusives (unless it was a LEGO direct product) so I may be forgetting some sets, but I'm wondering if a vehicle that's got a really major presence in the prequels and The Clone Wars would show up as a limited release product. And yeah, as much as I'd love a Republic Y-Wing, it really doesn't show up that much in the show to where I'm unsure if they'd give us another set. Obviously we've gotten way more obscure stuff (Jakku Quadjumper anyone?) but given how sparse TCW stuff is in general, it seems unlikely. Plus, a $90-100 Y-Wing would probably not sell very well at all, which would further give LEGO justification that TCW stuff doesn't sell.
  7. That's very true. As we've seen with previous retail exclusives, they may or may not have anything at all to do with what movies/shows are relevant right now.
  8. At this point, we have no idea. Falcon Fan (a very reliable leaker/EB user) hinted about a week ago that we may be getting something involving Ahsoka and Darth Maul, but we've had no information about what that specifically pertains to (it could just mean that Ahsoka is coming in a set we already know about, and we got Maul in a book), but it definitely could suggest that the exclusive has something to do with episodes 9-12 of TCW.
  9. TCW season seven wave idea, spoilers ahead for those that have not watched
  10. Some of the pictures show that it does hold three figures and the size doesn't look too much larger than previous AT-AT models from what I can tell.
  11. I never thought I'd see the day when someone asks why we AREN'T getting a Snowspeeder It's legitimate. Landino is right on everything and posted very high quality pics that clearly are the type of photos that would appear in a catalog/LEGO.com advert for the set. We've also had Hoth speeder bikes before, in a previous AT-AT as another comment mentioned, and in the Hoth battle pack from 2011.
  12. I guess we'll probably find out once the AAT/Anakin's Interceptor leak. I would say if one of them comes with Ahsoka, it's somewhat unlikely that the same wave would also come with a larger exclusive containing Ahsoka just because we don't usually get a desirable character like that in two sets in the same wave, especially if one is so much cheaper than the other.
  13. It looks nice! At $160, not sure I'll get it at retail (not because I think the price is unfair, I just typically don't buy stuff over $100ish unless it's a "must have" for me). I wasn't planning on even considering it before, but these pics may have changed my mind. I don't have any AT-ATs but it seems like this one has the most interior functions we've ever had?
  14. I had something written out about why it could be either the green or yellow, but Landino confirmed via his instagram that it is indeed yellow. So, while I still am skeptical we're getting more than two figure, I would guess that the possibility of Rex being a third minifigure is back on the table.
  15. I think that they include rangefinders for all of them, I'm pretty sure it just happens to be that the females in this set have them on and the males don't. But yeah, if you compare Bo-Katan with, say, Pre-Vizsla, you can see that pattern as well.
  16. Yeah at this point it really could be anything. I know people have brought up possible ideas based on TROS/TCW because those are the most relevant IPs right now, but it truly could have absolutely nothing to do with those. The Target retail exclusive in 2018 or 2019 (I forgot) was an Imperial Landing Craft, which we hadn't had since 2007, was only featured in the special editions of ANH and has approximately 5 seconds of screen time, so I think all possibilities are on the table.
  17. Meh, I don't mind the wait for leaks too much, and I actually prefer if they trickle out, because everything leaking at once sort of is anticlimactic. It's like, on one hand, we know what we've got coming for sure now, but now we have to wait a really long time before we can start figuring out what's coming next. Although we did just have the A-Wing reveal, it feels like we haven't had anything big for a little while (since it looks pretty much like you'd expect it to), whereas the summer sets still have some potential questions around minifigures or actual contents of the sets. So I'm definitely excited for pics to show up, whenever that may be.
  18. Someone brought up the fact that Grievous is white (even though I believe we're getting a tan one, either that or the other way around) and that one of the figures had a purple looking stick. I think it's either a placeholder, or could be that no one ever actually confirmed that we're getting a clone trooper, it was just picked up based on EB speculation. I know some people/leakers have said it's not Commander Cody, but no one ever said distinctly "We're getting a clone" and also, I hadn't seen any leaks/descriptions come out prior to what the EB leakers said, pretty much all of them said something along the lines of "An unnamed clone" or "We're not getting Cody" It made me wonder if the leakers just said it isn't Cody but didn't elaborate because it's a completely different figure altogether. Of course, I'm also probably way overthinking this, and in all likelihood, a clone is much cheaper than probably reworking the Magnaguard mold, but you never know. Here's an idea I had for a Mandalorian S1 wave Nevarro Troopers - 3x dirty Stormtoopers, 1x flametrooper, build is a speeder bike ($14.99) Bounty Hunter Battle pack - Random group of bounty hunters, probably one IG unit and 3 other unnamed hunters from the Guild scenes, it's hard coming up with a pairing BP since we already got a Mandalorian one ($14.99) Trandoshan Ambush - A small rock build with an exploding feature, includes 2x Trandoshians, Mando, and The Child. ($19.99) Kuill's Hut - Includes a Bluurg and small hut build. Minifigures are Kuill, Mando, and an Offworld Jawa. ($29.99) Imperial Prison Break - Sort of similar to the Rathtar set, but smaller. Comes with two jail cells and one of the patrol missile droids. Minifigures are Beskar Mando, Qin, Xi'an, and Mayfield. ($49.99) Gideon's TIE Fighter - Pretty self explanatory. The wings are attached such that a button knocks them off so it can crash. Comes with Mando with Jetpack and rope, Moff Gideon, and 2x Stormtroopers. ($69.99) Showdown on Nevarro - A half-shell building and a small area in front with various crates and mini-turrets, also has some exploding features. Minifigures are Moff Gideon, Beskar Mando, Cara Dune, 2x Stormtroopers, Death Trooper, and Scout Trooper. ($79.99) The Bounty - Similar to the set above, but includes a small building on one end with an opening door and a small tower on the other end. Inside is The Child's egg thingy. Minifigures are IG-11, Mando, The Child, 4x Nikto guards, and a Bluurg. ($89.99)
  19. Considering almost the entire Monkey Kid wave leaked, which I believe is also scheduled for an August release (correct me if I'm wrong there), I would guess it can't be too long until we get at least some blurry preliminary images of the AAT, AT-AT, Night Buzzard, and Anakin's fighter.
  20. I'm predicting that these next few years are going to be sort of like 2007 and ~2010-2014 or so when there wasn't new content being produced, so it was just random stuff from all eras, shows, even the EU. I know we'll have the Mandalorian, but realistically I don't see more than maybe one or two sets per wave since the only time we ever got a major wave for a TV show was the original run of Clone Wars stuff (which was more for the film anyway). Speaking of Mandalorian, I wonder if there's any chance it's Gideon's TIE fighter? I mean, it looked about the size of Kylo Ren's, which was $80 I think? I could see them jacking the price up a little bit and making it a bit larger or including some ground battle scenes, and I think the piece count could work there. Just a thought.
  21. I think it depends on how you're defining performance. Relative to movies in general, the amount that it generated was a ton, but relative to other blockbusters, it didn't really make as much as it should've. When you look at the amount of hype and money that Avengers: Endgame generated, Star Wars is one of the few franchises that you could probably expect to compete with that, and frankly, it didn't (it only generated about 35% of what Endgame did). Part of that may have been because TLJ really turned quite a few people off of the franchise, but considering it was hyped up as the last Star Wars film of the Skywalker Saga, you would've expected maybe a bit more.... That being said, I really don't know if it would be possible to make Exegol into a $90-100 set. I mean, there'd be the throne with the stuff behind it, maybe something to represent the big hole, possibly the clone-tank-things, that's about it. The background audience seats and stuff would just be too large to capture in LEGO, and I'm not sure if they'd focus on the exterior area of the duel (unless they did a Ben vs. Knights of Ren and Rey vs. Palpatine at the same time). I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm not sure if they could really make that set almost $20 larger than the Final Duel set we had a number of years ago, nor larger than the Rey vs. Snoke set from a few years ago.
  22. Which is kind of a shame, because Monster Fighters was one of my favorite themes of all time. It had a perfect mix of "realistic fantasy" (in that the vehicles and locations were mostly realistic, maybe with the exception of the hot rod hearse), but had the blended element of being "monsterfied," like a train being covered in ghosts. Part of what made that really work in my opinion was the setting/time period, it definitely looked like early-1900s to almost resemble some of the classic Universal movies. The Vampire Castle is one of the favorite sets that I own. Hidden Side seems alright (being honest, I have no idea what half the sets are since I can't make anything on the box art out) but I just really love the retro-horror.
  23. In all honesty, I really really doubt it'll be TCW based, I think if anything it'll be based on Geonosis. As a few of the EB leakers have said, TV sets don't sell as well as the other stuff, and I think LEGO's already stepping out of their normal UCS wheelhouse with a prequel set, so jumping all the way from the OT -> TV show, especially one that's not even on the air anymore for a set that big seems unlikely. In addition, I'm curious to see if a lot of the "WE WANT A GUNSHIP WITH ALL CLONE COMMANDERS" crowd will put their money where their mouth is. I think there's a lot of overlap between the 501st BP and Gunship group, at least the ones that are very vocal on social media, and in the case of the 501st set, it's only $30, but is this crowd going to put down $200+ on a UCS set? Even if it did come with the figures that some people are asking for (never gonna happen), I kinda doubt it. As much as people like to say that the crowd that exclusively loves the prequels buys the toys, there's a reason that the OT still gets more sets, and I say this as someone that will probably buy the prequel sets this summer and would easily drop $250 if they released another AT-TE and Gunship as system scale sets right now. But I digress, so back to the topic. The idea of a CMF series is one that's intrigued me a lot, so since I've been on a kick of posting Rogue One ideas, here's my RO CMF series: I don't own any UCS ships, but this might be the first one I buy. I think a $200 set could do it justice in minifig-scale, hopefully with a cockpit connected to the cargo bay. Maybe include Jyn, Cassian, and K-2SO for the figures, and I think that'd be a fantastic set.
  24. That's why I voted for the Nebulon-B. I don't really have an interest in the ship or set, but I think the chances of a minifig-scale gunship being released while a UCS ship is on the market are pretty slim to none, since that only ever really happens with things like the Falcon or X-Wing that are on the market every year anyway. We've only had three gunships ever, and it's been seven years since the last one, so I don't really think LEGO's clamoring to put out a minifig-scale one anytime soon. Now, I guess we could always get a minifig-scale UCS gunship, but considering every version of the set we've had minus the micro-scale ones are already minifig-scale, I don't really see how they could do that while justifying a UCS price point. And like you said, the thing's probably only going to come with like three or four figures anyway (outside of the Falcon and playsets, I don't think any UCS set has had more than like three figures), so a minifigure scale version would be drastically underpopulated.
  25. Landino on Instagram has posted multiple set lists saying we're getting an August retailer exclusive, I don't know if any EB leakers have corroborated that but he's never been wrong in the past, so I'd trust it.
