Especially since they seem more willing to give us rarer characters in cheap sets these days. It would appeal to people who are a fan of the prequels or kids who don't have any set like that, and also appeal to collectors due to being a cheap way to get Watto. My hunch is that if we ever did get a SW CMF series, that'd be a perfect opportunity to give us Biggs from that deleted scene, unfortunately I think Camie and Fixer are just too obscure but that Biggs outfit at least has some relevance. As a kid, I'd actually read the original storybook from the 70s, which included some of the Tatooine deleted scenes (Luke with Treadwell and Tosche Station), so I always loved those scenes, even if it wasn't actually in the movie. I'd love some figs from it. Also, other potential MBS playset ideas (excluding Yavin or the Jedi Temple, because I think myself and a few others already gave some concept/minifigure ideas): Mos Espa Podrace - $350 USD. Includes the starting grid, viewing box with elevator on the "infield", small section of terrain, announcer box, and Jabba's booth. Also includes 4 Podracers - Anakin's, Sebulba's, Gasgano's, and Neva Kee's. Probably released concurrently with some podracer sets. Minifigures: Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba, Gasgano, Neva Kee, C-3PO (unfinished, with flag), Qui-Gon Jinn, Shmi Skywalker, Padme, Watto, Jabba the Hutt, Bib Fortuna (ep I), 2x Tusken Raider, Aurra Sing, Fodesinbeed Annodue, Ben Quadrianros, Mars Guro, Clegg Holdfast, and maybe a couple of background aliens (total of roughly 20). Also a lot of pit droids, 8-12, but since they're brick-built, I don't think they count as figures. Jabba's Palace - $400 USD. Basically a much larger version of the 2013 version. I would probably do the front façade appearing as the outside of the palace, while the back is open. Includes the front entrance hall with gate and sentry droid, guard tower, throne room, wall with carbonite display, droid "repair" room, and a prison cell. I think if they did it right and made the front exterior tall enough, they could include the Rancor Pit and just disguise it so that you can only tell it's there from the back, as opposed to stacking the façade above the pit, which doesn't display well. Minifigures are Jabba, Bib Fortuna, Salacious Crumb, Max Rebo, Sy Snootles, Droopy McCool, Boba Fett, Leia in Boushh disguise, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight), Malakii, 2x Gamorrean Guard, Han Solo + Carbonite piece, Lando Calrissian (Palace disguise), EV-9D9, 8D8 with gonk droid, Tessek, Ephant Mon, and the Rancor. No Oola cause I don't think they're making toys of her anymore. Jabba's Sail Barge - $350 USD. Again, just a larger version of the system scale ones, but also includes the Sarlacc and two Skiffs. Includes Jabba, Luke, Lando, Boba Fett, Han, Chewbacca, Saelt Marae, 4x Weequay guards, 2x Nikto guards, 2x Gamorrean guards, R2-D2 (bartender), Huttslayer Leia (doubt we get her again), Ree-Yees, 2x human palace guards. Never going to happen, but fun to think about: Scarif Citadel Tower - $350. Includes the tower, and an extended area at the front to represent a landing pad, beach scene, and one of the long horizontal-elevator type things that extended out from the base. The beach scene has some trees with exploding functions, and the master switch and antenna on the landing pad. Fully detailed interior of the tower, including communication/command center, data vault and control station, troop bays on the first level, and antenna tower on the roof, with a collapsible gantry. Minifigs: Jyn Erso (regular and Imperial disguise), Cassian Andor (regular and Imperial disguise), K-2SO, Bodhi Rook, Chirrut Imwe, Baze Malbus, Orson Krennic, 2x Imperial Officer, 2x Death Trooper, 3x Shoretrooper, 2x Stormtrooper, Melshi, 2x rebel troopers. Also includes a midi-scale cargo shuttle! Yavin seems the most likely to me as far as the next MBS playset, as it can't really be accurately captured in a set cheaper than $200 or so, and at that point, you may as well increase the scale and make it an MBS. I think if we did get any prequel ones, it'd be either Geonosis or the Jedi Temple.

Yeah, I think Mos Eisley is much more conducive to being a model that has playability on the interior but also looks okay if you enclose it completely, since there's a lot of interesting exterior details and the ability to set up a scene outside with the Dewback, speeders, maybe you bring in Luke's Landspeeder if you have it, etc. With Cloud City, it may not be the best display piece, but I'd argue that putting a roof on that makes it even worse of a displayable model. It's legitimately just a gray box with a landing platform on one side at that point, and you can't really do much to set up figures outside or make it more interesting. I really like CC, I think they captured the essential scenes very well, they managed to get the overall shape of Cloud City accurately, and made the non-scene areas (like the hallways or landing platform) look accurate and capture the feel of Cloud City. No, it's not perfect, but it's just not a location that you can perfectly capture in LEGO form without sacrificing either playability or accuracy, and what we got, being a much beefier version of the 2003 set, does a pretty great job in my opinion. On the topic of Mos Eisley specifically, when does everyone suppose we'll get an official press reveal? I'd have assumed they may have moved the reveal up after these leaked, but I guess they're waiting. Do they usually do them on weekends, or if this doesn't happen today, should we assume it won't be until Monday? -

I was going to say just this. Yeah, it stinks for people who already own 3 Chewbaccas or 5 Tatooine Lukes, but how are you not going to include them? The only ones you can reasonably argue for not including were the droids since they weren't really in the scene, but they're still pretty important to Mos Eisley as a whole, and the set is more than just the cantina. Heck, when I was a little bit younger, I still bought a ton of Star Wars stuff and only within the past 3-4 years did I amass all of Tatooine Luke/Ep 4 Han/Ben/Chewbacca/C-3PO/R2-D2, so you can't just say "all collectors already have these figures" or assume that they'll just buy them on the secondary market. I don't really want to buy a used figure on BL/eBay/wherever. To anyone that isn't a hardcore collector/hasn't amassed a ton of minifigs, they'd rather get the main characters than a couple of extra background aliens that, while cool, mean more to the people that only want to collect rare figures than anyone else. -

The desirable Cloud City exclusive figures were at minimum $20. The cheapest Lando I can find on BL is almost $50, Luke is another $20 (although I'm not sure if the new set will make that decrease, for one I don't know if the figure is the same, and also if the quantity of the set is truly as low as it seems, it may not have that much of an effect on it, since people may not part it out), Boba with pauldron and arm printing is another $25, dual-molded Han is also $20, and Cloud City Leia was another $20. Ponda I could maybe see reaching Lando prices, Garindan and Evazan perhaps around the $25-30 range, the other aliens (Momaw/Kabe/Kardue/the last one, still seems unclear which figure it actually is) probably $20 just because we're likely not seeing them ever again outside of this set. Wuher and Greedo probably depend on how much about them is different. I could see them being $15ish as well, again just for exclusivity reasons, sort like how Lobot isn't necessarily a crazy popular character, but still commands $10-15 since it's a rare figure. The only other ones that might be different are if they give Han dual-molded legs again or change up C-3PO or R2-D2. This is all just conjecture on my part based on how the Cloud City figures went, though. Like people have been saying though, there's a decent chance that Ponda or Garindan show up again since the molds are new. They may not be as detailed in terms of leg/arm printing, but that would definitely drive the price down if the mold were to come out in sets other than this. -

This one might be a Day 1 buy for me...I knew I was probably going to get it, but this solidified it. Gah, and I just spent an hour today going through a bunch of older sets making a "sell" pile to try to save some space. One step forward, two steps back -

I was looking the photo much more zoomed in - there's a gap between the two structures in the foreground, and it looks like a white splotch between them with some orange. It might be a Sandtrooper with orange shoulder pauldron. 2 Sandtroopers was probably a given anyway, but that definitely looks like there is a second one in the background of this photo. My hunch is that if they wanted to throw us a bone and give us one more new mold, Garindan seems the most likely, especially since it seems confirmed that it isn't just the cantina, but rather a Mos Eisley scene. I definitely hope that we get the 12 safe bets/confirmed ones that you mentioned, Greedo, Wuher, the additional Sandtrooper, 3 Bith (making 18) and if we're really lucky maybe 2-3 more figures. I mostly just want to be able to populate the Cantina, and I'd love some more of the classic favorite aliens, especially one like Snaggletooth or the Duros spacers, since they could be done without new molds. It's tough, since many of the people buying this set are going to already have an R2-D2, already have a C-3PO, Tatooine Luke, etc, but they are pretty much obligated to include those figures, so a couple of slots that we'd rather be used on new figures have to get used on the main characters. That was one good thing about Cloud City, like you mentioned - pretty much all of the repeat characters were with new outfits or had something updated (ie: Han's dual molded boots). -

Not necessarily, is my point. A lot of people, myself included, believe the AT-AT is the best system scale one we've had yet, and not everyone has a Grievous starfighter (the last remake was like a decade ago, I would hardly consider someone new at collecting if they don't have that), the Final Duel was 5 years ago, a lot of ST fans will buy the IT-S, and some may find it easier to just buy the mosaic outright rather than trying to piece it together from other methods, same for buying the Razor Crest/Yoda Statue rather than purchasing bricks and instructions to make my own. Look, all I'm saying is that you may only like the couple of sets, but a lot of people feel like there's several sets worth buying this year. I mean, I had planned on just the AAT and possibly the Razor Crest, but Mos Eisley throws a huge wrench in that, especially since seeing the Razor Crest makes me more assured that I'd like to own it. -

The AT-AT is amazing, Final Duel and the IT-S are pretty good sets, and Grievous' starfighter looks really good too, it's just overpriced. Plus, the Razor Crest, the helmets, mosaics, and Baby Yoda statue certainly have some appeal to them as well. -

That looks legitimate to me, the way that the photo is taken and the background around it looks like one of LEGO's UCS-type promo photos. Of the section we can see, the structure on the left looks like it's either based on the door to the cantina or possibly the street where R2-D2 and C-3PO are hiding, while the part on the right seems to be some sort of market stall. Definitely excited that the landspeeder is the white one as opposed to Luke's, and I'm super stoked that we're getting Kabe and Momaw Nadon, especially since we already had the molds - there was no reason not to include them. The large building in the background did look like the cantina, but I'm assuming there's more to it than just what we see here, since that doesn't look like $350 worth of set to me. -

If we’re to take that as meaning we’re getting either nothing or once again only some smaller/“safe” sets from Mando in this next wave...wow. It seems like the Set Formerly Known as The Razor Crest had a ton of pre-orders based on the way people were talking on here or other web sites, and I seem to remember it selling out or going offline for a bit at one point? By many accounts too, the Mando BP was very, very tough to find for a few months (At least a lot of people reported being unable to get it for quite some time) and I do remember the AT-ST, at least by me, being on the shelves and then once the show premiered, it was gone in a second and didn’t come back for a month or so, although that second one is more anecdotal to me, not sure if that was the case anywhere else. Normally I can at least see the logic in LEGO’s decisions, even if I may not agree with them, but if that’s the case, I have no idea what they’re thinking. -

IF the CMF series were to happen (and I still don't know how much of it is rumor and how much is wishful speculation at this point), I'd imagine that could be a great opportunity to give us characters like her, Willrow Hood, Boss Nass, etc, who were in the movies but don't really have a major role or were only in specific scenes that aren't conducive to sets. I actually really like the promo Luke, I don't know if I'm getting the game but I might pick that up on the secondary market. -

Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
Kit Figsto replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
100% agree here, I'm hoping that this sort of thing never happens again. It sort of did with the UCS Gunship, and when, as many of us have been saying, it inevitably isn't minifigure scale, or doesn't include Captain Rex, or whatever, I think there's going to be a lot of angry people on social media, even though LEGO never said it was a minifigure scale model. Agree on both points! I really enjoyed the Planets sets too. There was a lot of potential there, and it was an awesome way to get some obscure figures. I mean, we got a new Lobot figure from it! I also liked when we got dueling battle packs as well, like they'd put out the Hoth ones or Clones and Droids, or Rebel Troopers vs Stormtroopers. On a similar note, I actually liked the 2v2 battle packs, I think we only got a year or two of them (If I remember correctly, there was an Endor one, an ARC Trooper one, a different clone one, and there was probably a 4th one I forgot about). They weren't as good for army building but it was pretty cool to get a miniature battle scene for $12.99. Finally, for my own unpopular opinion, this summer wave is one of the best LEGO Star Wars waves we've gotten in a very long time. It covers all three trilogies plus Mandalorian, has adult collector sets (that look very nice too) and kid's stuff, a good selection of figures, and stuff we haven't had for a few years either. I think the reason so many people are complaining is because it doesn't focus on one specific trilogy, and people tend to favor one over the others. OT people think we aren't getting enough OT stuff, PT people think we aren't getting enough PT stuff, etc.- 127 replies

If I were to guess, I think they would have to put at least one or two Mando sets in the January wave, I don't see them making that mistake twice and only having a battle pack and non-Mando specific set (like, the figures were from the show, but the model wasn't a new vehicle, it was essentially a re-skinned version of the Rogue One set, although it still looks really good), and since presumably Gideon will be a major character in S2, they'll probably figure out a way to include him. Plus, it's the only Star Wars property that's still being actively made, since Bad Batch and Cassian aren't supposed to be coming until 2021 and who knows when the Kenobi show will actually come out. S1 spoilers - -
CMF series ideas: I made one for the PT, OT/ ST, and Rogue One, didn't do Solo because I haven't seen it for a while, and I think if they did any for TV, it'd be likely just Clone Wars, I would guess a few fan-favorite clones and then mostly just TCW versions of Jedi. Rogue One

If we were to get an MTT, I would bet a lot of money against it being blue, we did get the blue polybag once but it's such an obscure vehicle, I can't even remember it from a single TCW episode. Plus, for whatever reason, it seems like Phantom Menace gets a disproportionate amount of sets compared to AOTC and ROTS, we get Naboo speeders and stuff If we got a big Clone Wars set I'd imagine something more recognizable would probably seen by LEGO as safer, like a Venator or Y-Wing. Regardless, this wave was supposed to be a "set expectations low and you might be surprised" deal and it's been pretty great in my opinion, can't complain. I'm hoping for another mixed wave with some prequels, some TV shows, some OT, and some sequels. -

Ah, alright, I've only ever had the old Gungan head so I wasn't sure, it definitely does look fairly similar to the current one. I forgot about Greedo, that might be one of the few early "alien" figures that actually holds up compared to current ones. Never had a Bib Fortuna figure so I wasn't sure if the mold was the same either. Lightsabers and helmets were obvious ones I should've remembered. So in other words, not much, like I'd assumed. -

This is a bit random, but the thought popped into my head today and I was curious - What early (say 1999-2005ish) SW molds or prints have remained the same since being introduced? I know battle droids are an obvious one and are entirely unchanged, the astromech and protocol droid molds have stayed the same this entire time, Qui-Gon's hairpiece is the same, and I believe the Gungan mold is the same? -

The other thing to keep in mind about the Mandalorian set we did get last year, it was a pretty "safe" set. An AT-ST is a recognizable vehicle, and the only difference was that they changed one leg color, put some stickers on, made it look like it had exposed wiring, and put in new figures. Conversely, with TCW/Rebels, they went for new stuff right off the bat, and my guess is that if Rebels didn't sell well, they probably scaled back and only went for the stuff that would sell regardless of how the show was received. Even the Battle Pack would've had to have been planned before the show received the praise it did, but again, it's a safe set. Cool, unique figures and only $15. Once the show was a smash hit, the Razor Crest suddenly appeared even though we apparently weren't supposed to be getting anything from the show. Also, darn, I guess no Tonnika Sisters in the Mos Eisley set -
January wave predictions. My gut tells me that if we do get any big stuff, it won't be until the summer, since we didn't really get any massive sets this January, the biggest being the X-Wing and TIE, but those are more medium-to-large sets with a large price point, in my opinion. Since battle packs apparently may not be coming with this wave (), I'm holding off on those. Microfighters (assuming we still get them): The Razor Crest - Includes Mando (not Beskar). $9.99 Luke's Landspeeder - It blows my mind that we haven't gotten this yet, and we are pretty much obliged to get some rendition of the Landspeeder every year. Includes Tatooine Luke. $9.99 Imperial AT-ST vs. Speeder Bike - AT-ST includes Chewbacca, Speeder bike includes a biker scout. Not sure if they'd give us 3 figures but really you could do two speeder bikes and biker scouts but I'm not sure if they'd go for that. $19.99 Slave I - 4+ set similar in size to the Cloud City one, but a bit more <insert that tiresome argument> (getting rid of some of the greebles or more fragile details) Includes Boba Fett, Carbonite Han Solo piece, and Luke Skywalker (Bespin). $29.99 Duel on Mandalore - Includes Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul. Build based on the Mandalorian throne room with a chair at one end, doorway at the other, and a wall with windows on the other (the final side is open for play access). The glass can be "shattered" as the main play feature. $24.99 OR Duel on Exegol - Includes Palpatine's throne, one of the cloning tank things (maybe with some Snoke parts?), and some of the large statues in the background, as well as some sort of hole/splitting ground feature to represent the big hole. Includes Rey, Ben, and Palpatine. Also $24.99 Naboo Flash Speeder - Includes Captain Panaka, Padme (red battle outfit), a Naboo security officer, and 2x battle droids. $29.99 Lars Homestead - Basically two smaller versions of Ben's hut connected. One is the workshop/garage area with oil bath, model Skyhopper, and various tools/parts scattered around. The other is the kitchen/dining room with the table, chairs, blue milk, and cooking area. Maybe includes a moisture vaporator too. Includes Owen Lars, Beru Lars, Treadwell Droid, C-3PO, and Tatooine Luke. $39.99 Something from S2 of Mandalorian priced around $50-60 USD, I don't think they'll make the same mistake of only having one set from the show available. Republic Y-Wing Bomber - Blue one from the Clone Wars finale. Includes Ahsoka Tano, Commander Rex, R7-A7, and a 332nd trooper. $69.99 Gideon's TIE Fighter - Includes Moff Gideon with the darksaber, Beskar Mando with jetpack, 2x Stormtroopers, and Cara Dune. $79.99

Hit my local Target here in the US. They had multiple IT-S sets out and space on the shelves for the other sets but none of them. They also had a ton of Mario and summer Harry Potter sets. Strangely, I saw someone trying to buy a HP set but were denied due to the street date being later in the month, so I'm not sure how the 501st or AAT or other new sets had been sold unless only that one specific cashier was enforcing it but others didn't care or weren't paying attention to it.
